Tringus
I'm back at it again with poems, but on an even more darker turn. This time, I'll be presenting two sonnets, one Shakespearean, and one Petrarchan. I do hope you will enjoy. Friends To The End Oh, you’re new here? Hi! Nice to meet you! You are in my class, too? Anyways, I gotta go. I will talk to you later. Bye! Oh, come on! Friends to the end! Now don’t feel so blue! You know what’s so special about this hill where we lay? Look at the sky, at all those planes and helicopters. The sky's the limit, the law we must obey. Only to come crashing down, all so sudden like heart stoppers. Your body must be aching, it’s wobbling like jello! Don’t be afraid, you’re only moving up there by freight. Just give in, relax, and let your mind mellow. You’re just the one lucky person I have to congratulate. You don’t want to be my friend anymore, do you? That’s fine! I’ll just make this quick. Goodbye, my old friend, you just crossed the line! “Friends To The End” was a sonnet I made that ended up taking a really dark turn. I used the rhymes we did from the first example in my poetry class, and it took off in the form of a Shakespearean sonnet.. As I was writing it though, I ended up making it a more darker poem rather than a light-hearted one. However, as I was also writing it, things I should not have heard had been spoken, and honestly, looking at this poem now, I see it as a way to channel my darker emotions. And with even MORE recent events... I'd like to say that this poem takes place in my imagination. Insane Your body charges through, ready to strike. Olé! Wrong place, wrong time, trapped at knife-point. So sharp! Grabbed, gagged, sacked, wrapped in tarp, Dragged off in the night, just before the good day. Why don’t we all give a hip, hip, hooray? Hook, line, and sinker, quit squirming you carp, Wake up from your dream, quit playing that harp! Reality is sweeter, or so they say. Now, you are probably sitting here, lost in confusion. Come and sit down, relax. Eat a pop tart! Come watch this guy, he’s doing some wheelies! Don’t forget to stay away from reality, it is an illusion! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll take my shopping cart, And ride all day with my heelies. “Insane” is a pretty crazy sonnet I ended up making. Originally, I wanted to take a dark turn for it like “Friends To The End”, and it did start like that at first. However, as I was writing, I ended up getting a bunch of crazier ideas for it until it became as if it was all inside one’s head. Like the first sonnet, I wrote “Insane” based on an example of a sonnet we did in class. This time, I was inspired by the second example, the Petrarchan form. Another source of inspiration when I was making this sonnet was Eminem. I was listening to Eminem music while making it, and how he writes his lyrics got to me. It pretty much went from dark to insane, which is why I titled it “Insane,” named after one of Eminem’s songs. “Friends To The End” could be viewed as a demented sonnet, while “Insane” is a bit more manic.
