(Spoilers?) - Garchomp and Plot Significance

Spoiler

This has been driving me absolutely crazy and no, it's not the difficulty of the battle itself (destiny bond trick and such)

I know this probably isn't a big deal to anyone else but the amount of significance of defeating Garchomp has, was a surprise to me. I started a new file after episode 16 was released and skimmed over the Garchomp battle and took the loss just to speed through some of it. After looking at the different outcomes, I realized I probably should've just went the extra mile to beat the Garchomp, but I'm already close to episode 16 now. For example, other then the higher relationship variables now with other characters and some side comments/praise from Solaris, what about the team meteor house invasion?

The fact that Florinia nearly dies to the Seviper, only to just shrug it off and leave? Is she poisoned now because of that and just doesn't want to burden anyone? Or is it essentially the same outcome as the non-Garchomp scenario and it's just meant to give insight into Fern and Florinia's relationship and the whole act of betrayal with Titania and Florinia, with Julia's thoughts on the whole matter?

Ugh, this honestly shouldn't bug me as much, but I actually like the story and don't want to miss what it has to offer. Sorry for the ramble and all.

TL;DR - Does it REALLY matter that I didn't defeat the Garchomp or not, in your opinion? Was it just to see extra dialogue and insight into some characters but still has the same overall outcome?

So far I have completed Reborn (e16 new content not taken into consideration) only once, on a playthrough where I didn't beat Garchomp, and I was pretty frustrated not to get the extra dialogue not to mention Julia as a partner, cuz Flo sucks for this fight. I'm correcting this on my current playthrough.

That being said, I don't think it's worth restarting just to beat Garchomp. It doesn't have heavy consequences on the plot afaik. Of course if you're not afraid of starting from scratch and really want to get all the dialogue, by all means do it. It just seems like a lot of "work" for a relatively minor reward to me.

Besides, I never viewed losing to Garchomp as a very bad thing. Actually it makes sense plot wise, since it emphasizes both the strength of Solaris and the improvement of the MC by the time they reach Fiore Mansion. To me the "normal" course of action is losing to Garchomp, winning being an option for skilled trainers that gets rewarded with some lore.

I hope it doesn't have any heavy consequences later on. I tried to keep my run okay? I made sure I fought Taka at the WTC and decline all ring offers, though I did that in my very old run anyway. It just didn't have relationship variables available yet.

I might start a third save file if I'm interested in any of those mono type challenges going on. I definitely won't be able to skim through it then, lol

I also felt the exact same way after losing to Garchomp. It was bugging me quite a bit, but I thought it made sense for us to "lose" while I was skimming through the game. Team Meteor is the big bad and it makes sense to not always win, especially to Solaris, who led the organization before Lin came along.

And I agree, flobot gets completely demolished by everything during the mansion run, especially with Blake, sending out Torterra at every possible point instead of Ferrothorn, ughhhh
