[Theory]Obtaining mega stones for blaziken and others

So I was wondering yesterday, after fighting against the trainers in the Grand Hall. Almost all of them had a mega evolved pokemon available to use. This would mean that the pokemon they were using were holding the Mega Stones for themselves.

Now, I started thinking of the way to get Heart Scales: Get a pokemon with Thief, and use that on a Luvdisc to steal their item(50% of it being a heart scale).

So I was thinking: wouldn't this move(Thief) allow you to steal the item that the oponent is holding(e.g. Blazikenite if you are fighting against the mega Blaziken)? The move allows you to steal the item the enemy is holding, and putting it in the item slot of that specific pokemon, if he isn't already holding an item. You get to keep the item after the battle with this move as well.

I thought of this, but haven't tried it out yet(seeing how I don't really have a good pokemon with Thief that can outspeed a Blaziken :/). Would this trick work to get these Mega Stones at all, even if you can't use them yet?

And if you think it might work, can someone test it out with a strong pokemon and post the results here?

Sorry to break it to you, but even in the canon games it is impossible to take a mega stone off of a Pokemon in any way (knock off, thief, etc), meaning that we cannot take the stones in reborn as well.

I haven't played the normal games since Diamond/Pearl so I am totally not known with Mega Stones, and didn't know this wasn't a thing. Thanks for clearing it up!

haha yeah as Swampellow said you can't keep the item

and as far as i know,

we cant keep items "stolen" from other AI

i tried using thief with weavile and didnt keep the item at the end

so we can only keep items we thief from wild mons

otherwise i would've raided the old man with the Life Orb Braviary

No stealing Mega Stones, but there may be an end-run for some items.

Items created with Recycle are kept at the end of a match regardless of how they were obtained originally.

It's true that you can't keep stolen items in reborn but there is a secret way - Covet (or other stealing move/ability) + Fling + Recycle (elemental monkeys can learn this combo). The recycled item won't disappear after battle so you can keep it. Of course you can't steal a megastone but you can get the Life Orb this way.

Well you can use sleep, paralyzation, Reflect and revives... In my opinion it's good that it's doable but requires some effort.

Here something interesting that I found out, the color challenge in agate host some items, from what i have seen there is a dusknoir that uses trick and give you a choice band,as for life orb there are scizor,swanna and Simipour
