You play through until you get to the city rebuilt. (I think since when you reach calcenon you can't go back to the other places because of agate being closed right?) Yes, as of the new episode, there is an online function where you can trade/battle when you go to pokegear > online feature. You'd have to register and then login and then trade with someone.
