Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]

"Good idea. Carry the Employees out of here. And you help them." Gina orders the rest of the Employees to help. They seem relieved now that they found out that their comrades aren't dead.

 

Gina then shakes her head at Emmanuel's notion. "We're not staying here. We've had orders to deliver everyone safely back to #00 and I don't intend to take any more chances with these Pokemon." She takes her Aether Ball and summons Sal in order to fight. Lumi watches.

 

Music: This is what we've trained for...

 

[Lumi is waiting...]

 

"You're mine now-!"

[Gina throws an Aether Ball at Lumi!]

[Congratulations, Lumi has been caught!]

Gina picks the Aether Ball up from the ground. Lumi has seemingly given himself in. That couldn't be a good sign. She frowns as she looks down at the ball, and Sal does too.

"I don't like this." She mutters before turning towards everyone. "We're proceeding as planned. When we get back to HQ we're having this guy here taken under surveillance. Miss, I hope you can vouch for your other Pokemon, because if you can't, Sal and I'll have to deal with them properly." She turns to Zeta as she says this last part. The young girl is intimidated by the woman's mien, but nods.

 

"A-alright. But Murki and Meggie will definitely behave!" The two Pokemon nod.

 

"That's what you said for this Sableye as well. Regardless, we'll be off now. Kalva, I see that everything's good with the machinery and the unconcious Employees have been taken care of. We'll be flying as soon as we all buckle up. I'll take the helm." She finishes, sending Kalva and everyone else out of the cockpit and also places Lumi's Aether Ball into her A-Comm. Sal sits in her lap. "They seem to have only messed with the storage...Sableye are innocent but problematic Pokemon. I should've seen this coming."

 

 

[Everyone gets 1 post to buckle up in their seats and as soon as everyone's posted the Nexus Drill will be taking off. You aren't allowed to post more than once.]

Taylor and Jet the meditite take up their positions in the drill.  Taylor reluctantly returns his Pokemon to his aether ball for travel, though the fighting type will not be staying in there any longer than absolutely necessary.

Shelly, after she had deposited her burden of unconscious employee, sat down in her seat again. "Oh...Here, I'll help with that." It seemed unlikely that Zeta would have any knowledge about how to buckle up, so Shelly leaned over to assist. When she was done, she buckled herself, and leaned back, anxious to leave.

[IntSys]

"Alright, ma'am," Emmanuel nodded and got seated. He quickly fell asleep as he waited for the drill to move, knowing that Solosis would wake him up later.

[InnocentSerenity]

“I’m sure everything’s gonna be just fine.” Kai continued smiling, despite the rather grim happenings. The girl bounced around in her seat, getting herself deeper down. “Let’s just get home and take some nice naps.”

 

Kai quickly reached for her seatbelt, locking herself in before realizing Anté was still lying on her head. “Sorry, friend.” Kai raised up an Aether Ball, a light enveloping the Shinx before he retreats back. “Rest up for now. We’ll have fun later on!”

Radovan would have honestly helped out with carrying the other Employee out of the bridge, but to be brutally honest he didn't really want to carry another person out of there, and to be brutally honest wasn't it their job to carry heavy things anyway?

He was a bit disappointed over his inability to catch a Sableye, but a part of him was just glad that it was all over.

He put the Larvitar back into it's Aetherball before sitting down, and he smiled warmly at Shelly as he showed Zeta how to buckle up a seat belt...it was such a cute sight.

He then leaned back into his seat, buckled up his own seatbelt, and gave Shelly a two thumbs up gesture before closing his eyes and dreaming of something nice.

 

He had just gotten the knife out when he was woken up by the drill arriving, or possibly Gina yelling at him.

[Daniel Blackworth]

"Theodore, it appears that you may have to return to your Aether Ball once more. Do not worry; I will be here to protect you." Frederick tells Theodore, his Stufful, before he throws the Aether Ball toward Theodore's direction. The bright light released by the Aether Ball envelops Theodore, and the Pokemon is taken in to the Aether Ball after a few second. Frederick takes the Aether Ball and places it in his pocket. "Let us hope for a safe journey back to Nexus #00."

 

Frederick sits down in one of the available seats. He decides to take a nap for a bit and he hopes that someone would wake him up when they arrived to their destination.

Desmond

 

"Alright, I suppose it's that time, then. Flint?" Flint nodded ad Desmond put the steel-type back into it's ball. How these things worked still seemed kinda weird, though. Oh, well. Not everything has to make perfect sense, I guess. Sometimes things just work with no real explanation. Well, they do, but sometimes things aren't that obvious. Whatever, you get the point.

 

Desmond took an empty seat and buckled up. Now would be a perfect time to get some much needed rest.

Kalva takes a seat on the drill and waits for the journey back home. It was a rather unexpected adventure and a tiring one, no doubt, but he still had the satisfaction of rescuing Meggie from the Beedrills and meeting Zeta. There were so many unanswered questions here. Like how did Zeta survive for so long? What made those crystal trees? What did Meggie get exposed to so as to be enveloped in rage?

 

And therein left a bigger question. How many more questions will come and go, unanswered? What will they face in the vast anti-space of this world? And what purpose would they serve in such infinities of questions?

 

Kalva looks down tiredly at Quina, who was flicking through the pictures he took on the a-comm. She spots Kalva looking and smiles. Kalva smiles back.

 

Perhaps his purpose wasn't to answer all the questions. And perhaps there were greater evils out there then any of them could ever think of. But in the end, Kalva and Quina had each other. There was no matter what the odds may be, no matter how many questions may present themselves to them, as long as they were together. And in the end, they'll get through it.

 

Kalva was sure of it.

Sena has been quite for awhile. He watch every event and is impressed by his new friend, especially Radovan.

 

guess I was wrong about him... he's different from the other people who had been underestimating my pokemon choice. I might owe him an apology for lashing out on him... sigh... I really need to control myself

 

he then take a seat on the drill, hoping a safe journey back home.

Everyone sat safely in the Nexus Drill. The safety belts comprised of energetically charged soft yet indestructible tapes kept everyone safe. Zeta, Murki and Meggie all took deep breaths in anticipation of what was to come. As the Drill took off slowly, Zeta shivered and jumped up in her seat. When it accelerated, she held the belt tightly and, as it shook upon exiting the Nexus, she let out a scream. But it was gone as soon as it came and she looked at Shelly thankfully, with a tear glistening in her eye.

------------------ Void: Anti-Space ------------------

The Nexus Drill had no windows so there was no way to see the Anti-Space they travelled through. The tension, as always, was almost palpable. The fear of the great unknown, everpresent. There was also the uncertainty of it all. From what you've been taught at the Academy, there is no space in Anti-Space, meaning that relations between Nexuses couldn't be logically explained. There was always variability on their relative positioning to one another, but they remained largely situated properly to one another, never moving. This was where the term Nexus Grid came into play. The theory suggested that Nexuses formed a Grid with other Nexuses in an attempt to form a cohesive spatial continuum. This tendency could not be explained even in this day and age, the same went for Anti-Space too. It was beyond reason. An eternal mystery. And its origin was shrouded even more. Nobody could explain it.

 

As everyone rested, Zeta closed her eyes as well. Murki and Meggie calmed down as well, overtaken by the same sensation of helplessness in the void. Yet the helplessness was also endearing. Innocent. Like swimming in #03's calm seas.

As you rest, time passes by and, without anyone noticing you've arrived, you're suddenly shaken awake by the very same turbulence you've experienced at the start of your journey.

------------------ Nexus #00: Aether City ------------------

The hatch opens as you land and bright sunlight shines into the vessel. Zeta's eyes glisten, but she waits for you to unbuckle her before running off inside. There is a whole new world in front of her now.

 

Gina exists the cockpit, with Sal on her head. She nods at you all and proceeds to unbuckle Kalva. "I hope you've rested a bit. I know you've been through a lot today." She says to him before turning towards the others. Several Aether Employees run into the Drill with Medical-Comms in tow. "I've alerted the rescue services of our arrival. They will be taking care of the two unconcious Employees. Meanwhile, you and I will be accompanied by a third party arriving shortly at the landing site. Until then, you can stretch or whatever. Show the girl around. It's currently 1600 hours, the sun won't be setting anytime soon." She commands you before walking out into the sun. If you wish, you can follow her. The unconcious Employees have been taken outside already.

 

Outside you'll find the glass layer of #00, fashioned to not look like a goddamn empty sky but rather a cementey surface. Around you, countless other Nexus Drills are landing and the sun is shining. The rescue missions seem to be going well. Thank the Lone Star.

While Radovan would have loved to examine Gina and find out why she is actually acting vaguely nice right now, but he decided that would be a mystery that he isn't that interested in solving right now.

There was a child here that seemed to be on the verge of crying, and we all know how rich people solve that problem now don't we? Which is Radovan swiftly unbuckled himself and walked towards Zeta to help her get out of her seat by unbuckling her from that seat.

"So does anyone else want Ice Cream? Or am I going to have to go to an ice cream shop alone?"

[Strider]

Shelly, decently invigorated, was rather surprised at Radovan's sudden act of seeming kindness. Was it a manipulative ploy? But what was there to possibly be gained from it...

"Sure. Ice cream is always good. Zeta, you've probably never had it before, but ice cream is a yummy frozen treat, and I think you'll like it." Shelly did however, stand back a moment, to let Zeta absorb some of the new sites surrounding her. This would be overwhelming to anyone.

[InnocentSerenity]

“Thank you, machine lady!” Kai nodded her head as the disembodied voice wished her friends safe travels. “Hope to see you again.” Even if she knew it wasn’t a real person talking to her, she wanted to at least show her thanks. Machines are people too, you know. Kai quickly unbuckled her seat belt, jumping off her chair and swiping her A-Comm off the buckle.

 

As she looked to the side, she saw Zeta sitting in her chair, not bothering to remove it. Luckily, one of them had already gone to the trouble of helping her out. “Hey, thanks for helping her out!” The girl gave a dramatic thumbs up to the boy before stepping near the exit. “Ho yeah, I could go for some ice cream.” Kai balanced herself on one leg before swinging her other leg out, the motion pushing her out of the drill to see the bright sky of the Aether City. She stretched her arms out, the chairs having been a bit stiff for her.

 

Kai jumped out the way of anyone else that wanted to get out of the drill. “Let’s do even better and get an entire cake of it!” The tall girl swayed from side-to-side, waiting for the rest to come out for the promised ice cream.

Through sleeping, Emmanuel skipped the trip through nothingness. He had experienced it before, an experience that he described as 'raw', like the fabled world before the Big Bang.

 

"...Hm? Oh, already," he woke up and unstrapped the seat belt. "Nexus #00... " he left the drill quickly.

The afternoon 'sun' was pleasant. The windless, perpetually sunny skies symbolized peace, and perhaps, ignorance. The citizens of the Aether City lived without worries. Day and night are controlled by the barrier around the perimeter of the city. It was an artificial heaven, but a heaven nonetheless.

 

Albeit, it was half a heaven for him.

 

"Ice cream?" Emmanuel thought for a bit. There was that ice cream shop advertisement he saw before. It had all the exotic flavors that he had never even heard of before. Though, he did look up the process of making an ice cream.

 

"Sorry, Radovan. Maybe next time," he answered. The truth was, he only had enough money to pass a few more days. He had counted on the paychecks that he'd receive with his job as a cadet.

 

He stretched a bit, before following Gina.

"We're here...?" Leon stretched out and unstrapped the seat belt.

 

finally home... it was a fun adventure tho.

 

Nexus #00 one of the most pleasant place to live, an artificial world that have peace written all over it.

 

He heard Radovan's invitation, to buy Ice Cream and without a second thought

 

"Ice Cream? Sure, but ehhh before we leave, Rad, sorry for lashing out on you like that when you only ask me why I picked Noibat... too much people ask me that question, that it kinda tick me off whenever someonve ask me that."

Radovan stared at the poor poor little boy for a while, before he laughed in his best "Can you believe this [CENSORED]?" laugh, until he hit the silly little man on his back with a friendly slap, and said something along the lines of "Dude, like....I'm gonna pay for the ice cream, don't worry about that man", although the tone of voice he was using made it seem like he wanted to say "I AM OFFERING YOU FREE ICE CREAM, I WILL BE EXTREMELY OFFENDED IF YOU REFUSE". He didn't wait for an answer as he wrapped his right hand around Emmanuel's shoulder and led him to a direction that his A-Comm said will eventually lead to ice cream.

Taylor consults with Jet the meditite, and after apparently confirming that the Pokemon is interested, follows the ice cream group.  The fighting-type, a recognizably perplexed expression on his face, trots along behind.

"Ah-aha, ahaha... alright, thanks," Emmanuel took the offer at Radovan's insistence, albeit startled by the sudden display of friendliness.

"Ahh well at least I tried." Sena scratched the back of his head

 

there goes my ice cream mood.

 

"I changed my mind then, I'll be going with Gina."

Radovan shrugged his shoulders at Sena's statement, and without even turning to face Sena he said "Well suit yourself Girl; no one is stopping you~" He continued to walk towards the location of the ice cream shop with Emmanuel, and after a while he whispered the words "Yeah....he's gonna have to try a bit more for respect" into Emmanuel's ear.

Kalva exited the Drill, slightly sleepy and tired from the adventure, but still glad. He considered briefly of getting ice-cream, but remembering the last time Quina tried ice-cream and got a stomach ache, he decided against the idea.

Instead, holding Quina close, followed Gina along with Sena.

Frederick listened intently to the other cadets' discussion on purchasing ice cream from the store. He was a bit surprised that such an offer was made by one of the cadets; he did not expect Radovan, the slightly smug guy, of all people, to be the one to suggest obtaining some ice cream. He smiled a bit, knowing that the adventure the group had back in that other Nexus had probably strengthened their bond like this, and while he was a bit sad that he was unable to partake in that journey, he felt hopeful that he could also have a strong bond with these cadets.

After getting out of his thoughts, Frederick was stunned to see that his fellow cadets had begun heading out to the Ice Cream Shop. He immediately released Theodore from his Aether Ball and placed him in his arms."Theodore, do you want some delectable Ice Cream?" Frederick told his companion, Stufful. At this, Theodore seemed excited and cheerfully encouraged Frederick to move already. Frederick begins to catch up with the rest of the cadets who went to get some Ice Cream, all the while a bit timidly saying, "Wait for me!"

GINA'S GROUP

 

"You understand that if you decide not to go with your friends, you're gonna be stuck with me waiting for our escort to arrive, right?" Gina asks Sena, while holding Kalva's head and patting him. She doesn't seem to mind Kalva staying with her, despite what she was asking the other boy.

 

"Well anyways, those two Pokemon can stay out so long as you stay at Aether HQ, alright, girl?" She shouts after Zeta and the others, along with Murki and Meggie.

 

She then picks her A-Comm up and starts typing something. "I'm uploading that picture of us, Kalva." She says, expression unchanging.

 

Meanwhile, Sal proceeded to poke and prod at both Sena and Kalva's feet.

 

 

ICE CREAM GROUP

 

Zeta is surprised at Radovan helping her out of her seat. She hops onto her feet excitedly and runs over to Murki and Meggie. Murki flies over to her shoulder and Zeta smiles. "Ice cream is something cold? What do you do with it?" She asks. Shelly might recall the whole confusion Zeta had over the concept of eating back at #08. She rushes outside with the rest of the group and almost immediately is taken aback by the structure that now stood before her.

 

"W-whoa!" She backs a few steps, bumping into the Drill. Around her, countless other drills are landing, people are rushing, everyone is happy. And the skies were completely different from back at #08. It was almost like they were in the middle of the sky themselves! It was...it was amazing! And it left her speechless! Meggie is almost in the same state of shock, but in a good way. She didn't see anything dirty around here. Murki flies a bit higher to inspect her surroundings. She finds out there's a whole world below them, with thousands and thousands of houses. They were on a platform somewhere high up in the sky where these flying drills were all landing. Was this the HQ house everyone was mentioning? It was really something.

Radovan smiled with nationalistic pride when he saw Zeta's surprise, and he eventually continued with "Yeah it is quite impressive isn't it? And there are other Nexus's, that are completely and utterly different than this one, but no less impressive or beautiful" he then continued to drag Emmanuel along with him as he said "Ice Cream is delicious, you eat it and it cools you down and makes most people happy since it is delicious, you should probably remind yourself to eat Zeta, you're nowhere near the world tree right now aren't you?'.

 

He then stops walking for a moment to turn slightly to face Fernan-, I mean Fergus- Fea- Red with a playful smile visible on his face, it was also quite present in his tone of voice as he said "It's good to know that you are finally coming out of your nerd cave Red".
