Noivy
One of these days, our govenrment will actually leave that place. I wouldnt nessicarly call this the 21st century Vietnam war, but in all honesty, this should have stopped a long time ago. It's benn dragged out much longer than it needed to be, and at this rate, the US is the only major player in this. I really hate our government. Maybe Im just young, but in all seriousness, I think the only reason we're still there is because we want the heads of a few more people. bin Laden and some top officials are dead. The Taliban is nearly ousted. The US is trying to work with a reluctant new government and is failing epicly at doing so. Again, this is turning into a Vietnam War. If it isnt already, it sure as hell is going to be one. Edited June 21, 2012 by Listar Iostone
Maelstrom
The problem is what happens if we had left sooner. It would have been a half-assed job, the insurgents would have taken over the country (again), and much better able to stage attacks agains the US. But yeah, we' re still here taking care of business so we can hand it off to the Afghans. And yeah, I'm glad I'm ok too. The guys that got hit were doing what I would be doing while out on patrols. Kiozo
Well, it's things like this that make me appreciate people like you a lot more, or, at least, feel it more than normal. I can't help but wait.
Maelstrom
Even for me, it didn't hit home till some guys I knew died back in May. Most of the time, they only put IEDs in the road that have no chance of injuring American forces our uparmored vehicles, but might do something to the Afghan army guys that travel with us.
