Daniel Blackworth
This is my first time spriting and I decided to begin spriting with a recolor of Cal. Can you give me feedback on how I can improve this? Edited March 10, 2017 by Mr. Divergent
Global Mods Dreamy Posted March 10, 2017 Global Mods Share Posted March 10, 2017 main thing that sticks out to me is how vivid the colours are. looks like he's wearing some kind of jumpsuit with the blue and orange, and his hair appears to be soaked in glowstick fluid. It's best to have the colours to be soft/warm I think. That seems the most pleasing on the eyes
Daniel Blackworth
Hm.... okay. I'll try to improve it later
Daniel Blackworth
I tried to make it darker. Any thoughts on this? Sorry for double posting.... I needed to show the updated one.
HongaarseBeer
I'd say it's better because the colours don't stand out that much. I like it

Just don't do it excessively please.~ While I'm here though it's be swell if you added a tag to the title of the thread. I'd say [Art: Spriting/Feedback] that way people know that you're looking for them to comment on what you're doin' here. All you have to do is hit edit on the first post in the thread and you should get access to the full editor. You can then get to the title field ((like when you created the thread)) and add that tag to the front or the back of the title. It helps you out and helps out those viewing the forum~ As for feedback I'm not really the greatest at this type of thing. I'd say the real issue with the first is that it's very washed out actually. It's not really vivid or vibrant in colour it actually has a dullness to it. It looks faded but not in a way that indicates like age or sun damage just that's it's not a full colour etc. The hair definitely has the radioactive feel too it, as it's a very odd shade of green. It's made more so due to the two shades used there being pretty different and the one on the outside edge being brighter then the inner shade. It gives it the impression that it's glowing, when I really don't think that's what you're aiming for. Onto the second. This one the colours are much fuller and better realized. The blue is a lot more striking and feels a lot more like it belongs on that kind of clothing. It feels more like a fabric blazer etc. The first looks more like a faded like jean jacket. It contrasts a lot better with the Orange as well. Orange is blue's complementary colour, or the one that when next to it makes both of them pop more. The second deeper and more rich shade of blue used in the second brings this out. It compliments the orange a lot better and brings out both of them all the more. The green in the hair is a lot more sensical as well. It's shading makes more overall sense and it's a more reasonable colour ((green is still off the wall for hair but the darker tones keep it looking more like hair than he's got a hunk of kryponite stuck to his noggin')) all in all, the second utilizes colour a lot better and makes a lot more sense. There's not too much more tocomment on here as recolouring isn't too complex a concept. Hope this has been helpful for you.~
