Themed Tournament Leaderboard and Rules!

Welcome to the Themed Leaderboard and Tournaments! This thread will be used to display tournaments using themes that Eternal Edge, Swimming95, and I decide. The idea behind this is that you should be forced to teambuild for every tournament! For this, we will be hosting them starting Sunday, and maybe Saturday at specific times, 7pm is usually when the signups start and 8pm is when they close and matchups made! Themes will be posted somewhere earlier on the corresponding day of the tournament. These times are EST, so you should be able to convert them using the time at the bottom right of your computer screen if needed. Times are not dead set as traffic may inhibit or increase signups, so it's a touch and go process, but one will be hosted every corresponding day.

To the rules!

The rules are generally simple, and may be altered slightly as we see fit.

Biggest rule is -> adhere to the theme! They won't be subjective, and you will know that someone is going with the theme or not. For example, red pokemon is a valid theme, and someone having suicune is obviously a rule breaker. Something that wouldn't be used, for example, is medieval theme, since you could have dragonite as a medieval dragon, but someone else could argue it's japanese. The only way something like this goes through is if a set of Pokemon is clearly provided for you.

Standard clauses include;

Freeze

Evasion

OHKO

Sleep

Species

Self-KO

These clauses are all there and MUST be on, additionally, Disallow Specs is recommended for those of you who desire privacy from scouting; if you get scouted we will not enforce penalties of any sort, you are in control of it. If your opponent does not play by these rules and you can prove it, we will be disqualifying them; although possible, we will not take this lightly and make sure you have extreme proof before disqualifying. If you are found to be trying to cheat through this or another way, you will not be allowed to continue in following tournaments of ours in varying amounts decided by us. Lastly, we realize that Evasion and OHKO clauses don't currently exist in the challenge window. However, they still apply for the tournaments. To clarify: Evasion clause states that any move that directly boosts evasion stats will be prohibited from the tournament. This does not include the use of Acupressure, as you cannot choose the boost that is received, and does not include Moody, Sand Veil, or Snow Cloak, seeing as the boosts are either indirect, or cannot be stacked to the 6th stage.

Also, you must have an account activated on here. It's not hard to make one, and you need to sign up for the tournament here, or notify us of some valid reason why you cannot. If you cannot then we will be happy to assist you so you can work around this problem.

DO NOT post 'in' posts into threads that don't have sign ups or aren't open to them yet. We will not pay attention to it and may not allow you to participate if this becomes a problem. Reasoning is that we don't need a full roster of people who don't show up. Plain and simple. If you aren't going to be there an hour in advance either it's an emergency, there's a valid reason that you can't be at the computer, or you're lying to me, and we will address these accordingly.

Post whether you have won or lost, and keep logs to prove it. It's the easiest way to prove you won, and we won't always be watching your fight, since we can usually participate as well.

The results!

The results and leaderboard will be posted in this section. All old tournaments will have the respective brackets from Challonge.com up, so you can see who did what when. The leaderboard will take the formula as follows;

.25x = y, where x is players and y is points.

This means that for every 4 players in the tournament, you will get one point if you win. If you get second, you will get half of the winners points for that tournament.

Past Performances!

1. Midsummer's Day!

That's about it, don't feel as if you have to participate every time! It's a leaderboard, and one victory will show up here regardless of how many times you play. We are trying to figure out a prize to be rewarded, to provide extra incentive, so keep trying! Your win may be right around the corner!

[Thread is open to questions and discussion, although they will eventually be put in as FAQs below, and removed to keep this clean. No pointless banter please.]

Will it run only on weekends?

That's the intention. With the three of us trying to get something for everyone's weekend going, and trying to plan around new changing schedule's [see Edge's new job] We figured this would be ideal. Running more than 2-3 themes a week is very harsh anyway as far as picking mostly new themes or reusing good ones.

Will shiny forms count for color based themes?

it shouldn't

^. What the deal is when I ran this elsewhere was; I would take the official color groups that were posted on Bulbapedia, and paste the links to each individual color in the thread. That will most likely be what happens in the future but we'll talk about it before the theme is posted anyway.

I take it you have a bunch of themes lined up already.

I've done this before with almost/every theme successful [and before it was simply participation based on timing issues, see mon/wed/fri being harder to get to than a sat/sun typically] so of course. Plus, we have three good heads. We can plan ahead well. We've been thinking about this for a while as well.

I don't get this at all, are you going to tell us theme at start of tourny? Are we going to have to sign up?

Themes will be posted somewhere earlier on the corresponding day of the tournament.

~Taken straight from above.

Not much time to plot out one's perfect theme team but I suppose that's the point?

That's the point, yes. It's partially about making teams quickly, but sometimes you can adjust and plan accordingly with a preexisting team.
