AndreTheMako97
Hey all, I've been playing reborn for a little while. I just completed the heracross/pinsir puzzle and I was wondering. Did any of you guys hit a point in the game where you needed and I mean NEEDED to breed for IVs and train for EVs in order to win a fight? If so what would you recommend for places to EV train and what were your methods? Thanks in advance.
Zargerth
Not really. I reset for better IVs if I need to, but don't really bother with optimal EVs (except in Reborn Hardcore) - I dislike grinding. Perfect IVs and optimal EVs make battles easier, but they're not required for you to win.
Sirrobert
Never. I tend to rest to get at least high-ish IVs, but that's it.
Kunikunatu
yeah i've never needed to competitively breed/ev train. i heard it makes the game too easy. i reset if i get garbage ivs or an irredeemable nature but that's it if you do want to though, http://www.rebornevo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/18129-pokemon-reborn-ev-training-guide-v2-updated-for-episode-15/ is a good source considering where you are right now. if you have enough stickers you can buy the power bracer/anklet/etc. which will help make it faster but you need access to the 4th floor at least; and it costs a lot of money just to get one ($15,000 each)

Also I would recommend you to have a pokemon infected with pokerus which will double the rate of gaining evs... My places are: attack:Peridot alleyways (pochyena and mightyena) Sp attack:Pyroas mountain (slugma and numel) Hp:Peridot alleyways (all the mons other than pochyena and mightyena) Def:Apophyll cave (geodude and graveler) Sp def: azurine lake (tentacool and tentacruel) Speed: Swoobat, woobat and noibat

I think I'm up to the eighth floor or so in the department store. Whichever one it was that let you buy the focus band. I took a look at the link that you included and tbh it was a rude awakening. Reminds me of how this game is not gen 6 with the easy swarm encounter training. I'll have to seriously consider if I think this is worth it or not. AndreTheMako97
3 hours ago, GS BALL said: Yeah. I bred some nasty little beasties, especially for Fadrienn (the Fairy cheerleader). Main star, Charizard. Before, only Charlotte made me consider doing that, but ultimately, didn't need to, as i beat her (the Fire Leader). I go at Opal Ward for speed, lots of early area pokemon across the gens found there, are good. Some have attack, too. For sp. attack, i frequent Obsidia Garden. Oddishes, glooms and some other grass are useful. Best mon is Girafarig, though, plus one of the best farming mons in Reborn; found at Castle of Radomus. Defense is the rocky types, pretty much every cave. Thank you much for that simple guide. Was charizard your starter or did you get him from an event? Vanitas
i dont think iv,ev training is necesary yet, but i hope the game will get harder so that it will be in the end, as for places: i really dont understand why people bother with these diffrent spots where there are all sorts of diffrent ev pokemon ill always just run between two stones in the left part of the railnet and battle the lvl 5ish noibats while im watching youtube or sth just because i dont have to focus at all just presssing the same buttons and the ev come from the diffrent bracers if the mon doesnt get any speed ev i just train as much as i can in the railnet and then reset the ev
guidy
Never needed to. I hate to do that ev training/iv breeding because it's so much time consuming and boring. I just try to work with the team I have and think of a strategy.
HUEnd
EV grinding/IV breeding is not fully necessary, but it makes the game easier (specially for leaders/boss/repeteable battles, because those will use ideal mons against you).
