Arthur looked at the dead body and sighed. The first one of many he guessed. He closed his eyes in silent contemplation for a few moments before returning his gaze at the woman. "Thank you for the assistance, and you have nice technique considering... Well considering you have one less arm."  He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, not sure if he should have pointed it out or not. "I wear my armor to limit my speed and therefore train to get faster, so your handicap is more impressive. Not being a choice and all." 

[Raindrop Valkyrie]

"Handicap? I've never seen it as such. I only learned how to fight after losing my arm. The driving force behind why I fight. It only makes me that much stronger. I don't have as much room for error. I've always fought knowing that. It makes me a better fighter than most who'd dare call themselves warriors." She flourished her sword to clean off the blood, sending a spatter of crimson to the ground. A rather interesting maneuver with only one hand able to perform it. Akane spit in the corpse's direction. Just more hired scum... not worth the dirt on her boot.

 

"If you can tell I'm missing an arm from just a glance... You have a good eye to match your speed. Qualities that compliment each other greatly."

"M-mr. Marek, w-wait!" Herrman ran out of the room after Marek but her path was cut off by the whole commotion regarding something she had no clue about. All she could see was a hand axe being thrown around in the air and people shouting.

 

Eventually, though, everyone cleared and got ready for battle? Battle, here? O-oh, she better get ready herself! Grabbing her axe from the bedding along with her staff, Herrman ran out to her horsey who was waiting for her so patiently outside. "O-oh Bel! We have to start killing people already...I don't have the necessary staves on hand though...o-oh my....is that mr. Marek there? He seems to be in t-trouble! M-mr. Marek!" She grabbed the reins and rode ahead towards Marek. Swinging the axe, she attempted to bonk the soldier head.

Goddess... At this point he isn't ever sure he could will his legs to move that fast, nor wouldn't he ever stand a chance actually escaping her as a pursuer. He never was very good at running. Still... they were going up against Lord Fenway's men... and the scandal that would bring his house if he was seen could be unspeakable. He supposes as long as he stays out of sight of most of the attacking men and only acts on the defensive he can claim self-defense and innocence if this got brought to trial. After all, his duty as a Queen's Knight included protecting his fellows, so he could always bank on that as his excuse for involving himself in this debacle. O-Okay Wren, all you've got to do is play for them, you can do that! Just don't think about the blades and imminent death that awaits you if you fail.

 

Swallowing down the lump in his throat, he jogs after Marcus and Marek, pulling his flute from his bag, feeling his heart hammering in his chest. With fumbling fingers, he manages to play something -- a high, sharp 'fweet' -- "G-get going! And be safe!"

 

Move to O2 and "motivate" Marek and Marcus.

"Well, I see she's certainly whipped you into shape. Nice job, she did there, probably wouldn't have done better myself. Neeways, that aside, I'm glad to see you're a bit more motivated to do than just throw people under the carriage to save your own skin, mate." With all his talking though, the wyvern snarled beneath him

growing impatient as she eyed the man they'd originally tried to strike, it was all the cue she needed to give Marek before his focus was back where it actually mattered. The rider returned his gaze to the Soldier just as Hermman was struck. Yes... he saw now what Erce had been trying to tell him. Halberd in one hand, a good handle on her scales gripped in the other, he took a single breath, calling forth the elder spirits. And as their hushed tones filled his mind, the world seemed to almost... invert it's colors. The motions of the same soldier they were about to go after again laid themselves out before him, as the spirits explained each potential path. Just like they had last time. 

 

Marek just had to be swift enough to act on the foreknowledge before his foe could even move... which he had every intent to as he gave a war cry and sent Erce charging through the air at top speed, his weapon arcing around with the intent of hacking the man down where he stood.

"EH, SOLDIER BOI! Do me a favor and fuck all the way off, would ya?!"

"Whipped good and hard I'd say. You look like you're about to collapse on the spot in fear. What, do the nobles around these parts not have a backbone? I'm disappointed," Marcus remarks, amused at the boy's response to this whole situation.

"I-I am a bard, not a swordsman!" Wren stammers, cheeks coloring ungracefully scarlet up to his ears. "I'm not meant to be on the frontline!" He was supposed to be in the back, giving motivational bursts of music and song, and documenting all of the killing they were doing, not having any part of it himself. Hell, he was only here because he didn't want their deaths to be on his head when they returned to Queensgate. He could have just run, but he was standing and staying and making sure they lived -- wasn't that selfless enough? "And I am not scared." As if to prove the opposite of his point, his voice cracks slightly on his last word.

"Right. I'll just keep in mind that you crack under pressure," Marcus laughs. "If you're going to be out here in the fight, you have to be ready for anything. And don't think that doesn't apply to nobles either boy," Marcus states, glancing at the bard boy.

A wet sickening sound as his halberd crushed the man's already battered armor and rent the flesh beneath, and Marek knew it was done. Pulling his weapon out of the corpse, Erce knowingly veered upward, bringing him back around to their allies. Even without him having to say a word, she easily grasped the situation like it was nothing- her reliability both in and out of a scrap had always been great. Wheeling around, she landed near the troubadour.

"No need to apologize hermann, you did plenty" He adjusted himself on Erce's back, no saddle or anything, just bare wyvern scales, resting the bloodied weapon shaft-wise across her mighty shoulders, before flashing the troubadour the same smile he had when they met not even a full hour ago.

"Without your help there, I wouldn't have been able to finish that wandrought off...my only regret is that me and erce were a bit off the first time we tried."

"If we had, you wouldn't have had to take that nasty blow. Try and stay behind for right now, alright? Our monk friend and I can deal with the rest of these bastards..."

Elise came out of the hall, just in time to see people start stabbing.

 

"W-Wait, hold on, what's going on!? We haven't even been here an hour and..." she shook her head. She'd figure out what had happened later, first up, defending herself and her comrades. She whistled, and Gale came to her shortly after - some poor stable boy must be having a heart attack. Elise hopped on, and grabbed her lance. She would try not to kill people if she could. For now, her friends seemed to have the situation well in hand, so she started heading off to warn people to stay inside for this.

Her conversation with the speedy knight would have to be put on hold for a moment. an archer thought he was allowed to fire at Akane. She sighed loudly "I... did you... Hmmmm. I wasn't even moving..." She held the thought for just a moment, before angrily exploding. "IF YOU'RE GOING TO ATTACK ME WHEN YOU HAVE THE ADVANTAGE ACTUALLY HIT ME!!!"

 

She charged forward towards the archer, offended by his terrible skill. "Pathetic...DIE!"

 

Move to L6, angrily slash iron sword all up at Archer1's head.

The young man shakes his head, waving the ladle in his hand disapprovingly -- from that, and the pungent smell of potatoes and spices cooking from down the hall, it's clear he'd been making lunch. "Honestly, it's like the third time since he got him. If he can't keep a handle on his gladiators, he should just get rid of them. Though, after what happened to his daughter, that's probably not far from what he's thinking to begin with.

 

Are you helping him look for his gladiator? You don't look like one of his hired men. Eh, either way, doesn't really matter to me. Here, take this, though. Been looking for a way to get rid of it for a while, and it looks like you could use this better than me, anyhow."

While certainly painful, the wound was quickly able to make its way to completely healing itself. “Well, you got some nice initiative.” Rokan sent the swordsman a smirk. Noticing the boy that struck him before he had a chance, he gave a salute to the little kid that just struck the man. "Eh, not bad, little man" Marek remarked at the surprising accuracy the boy had thrown his axe, "as heavy and off-balance as that thing is, I'm surprised you got anywhere near him with it, let alone actually landed a hit."

 

It was ironic, coming from him, considering the previous incident last turn. But hey, he had held that thing in his own hands, and he'd been able to tell instantly the worksmenship on that handaxe was shyte at best. Figures, of course fennway probably didn't want to shell out that much to properly outfit the boy. But perhaps that fact just spoke all the more to his ability.

Regardless, Erce had other concerns. Her nose turned to the sky, taking in a new scent, and seemingly frenzied by the previous blood they had spilled, the wyvern readied herself beneath her rider before taking off again in a pouncing lunge, taking them both far to the west. Marek didn't question her instinct, simply grabbed on tighter as Her eyes narrowed on the lone rogue standing nearby, and with a savage roar, she descended, right next to the poor fellow with a rising plume of dust and grit from the cobblestones. Marek didn't hesitate, bringing his halberd down in an arc not unlike the one he'd felled the Soldier with.
