“Exactly.” Rokan spun his bow around his hand, eventually strapping it onto his back before turning towards the kid. “Work in groups, and you split heads much easier.” Metaphorically, of course. The man was on his knees, not exactly dead. “Stick by others. Something tells me they’d appreciate that axe of yours close to the enemy.”

"Yeah, well, you all were right about one thing: this is technically my fight. Somehow all of you just got involved while I wasn't looking. Figures." He cracks a light grin to show it's a comment in jest, before turning to look further south past the last line of sellswords.

 

"Leofric's down there. Wonder what he thinks about all this. Bet he didn't think he'd get in a fight with Queen's Knights." However this ended up sorting out, it wouldn't look good on Leofric, or his house, if word got out that his hired militia had injured the Queen's Knights when they were supposed to be defending his own city. "I sure wouldn't be opposed to removing his head from his shoulders. Deserves it, the son of a bitch."

“Maybe you should pay us?” Rokan gave a grin back to his friend. “Certainly a better excuse than whatever we had before.” The archer turned around, following where Noah had been looking.

“‘Deserves it’, huh?” Rokan thought back to what he knew about arenas. Sadly, this ended up being a very small pool of knowledge, so he decided to get an answer from the kid with firsthand experience. “The heck do they do to you in gladiator training?”

"Oh, tch, they treat us like animals," he replies with a shrug. "That's nothing new, and it's not just this piece of human garbage who does it. Keep us more or less in cages, fed, clothed, the bare minimum. One of us gets injured, most times just let 'em die. But just being a general asshole isn't Leofric's problem."

 

His tone flattens into something quieter, more serious, as his jaw tightens almost imperceptibly. " . . . This ain't really the place to talk about it."

"You're correct, now isn't the time. We end this battle first." Akane spoke to the boy as she moved forward. She kept her sword in it's scabbard for now, as she had learned to draw her blade and attack at the same time, it really didn't matter if she had it prepared in advance or not. "However, I understand. My people are a common target of these... so called "noble" men..." a ample amount of venom hung in her voice when saying that. "You've possibly run into a few of them, maybe even from the remnants of my clan. Heh... perhaps they were really the lucky ones in the end. How cruel fate is."

 

"Either way... you deserve the life that you're fighting for. It'd be a waste if you were to die here. You'll have to beat me to taking his head though. The Bastard's standing in my path, and the only reward for that is... death." Akane didn't really smile, but she did crack an ever so slight smirk at that statement.

Arthur sighed, there was a lot he wanted to say but there was no point in talking at the moment. The fighting took priority for now. He nodded at the boy's and Rokan's help in taking down his assailant, and ran forward swinging his blade with the momentum and hopefully strike down his next target.

Rokan looked away from the kid as he finished, processing what the boy had just told him. He took in three deep breaths of air from his nose before looking back at him.

“No need to tell us if you don’t want to.” Rokan put his gloved hand onto the boy’s head, ruffling around his hair with a half-smile on his face. “Those days are long past you, anyway. We’ll just finish off these guys and you can start running wherever you want.”

“But you both are gonna need to be faster than me.” Rokan took an arrow from his quiver, waving it in full view for the rest of them. “I might just snipe a win from both of you.” In a show of jest, Rokan took his bow out, aiming an arrow in an upward arc towards Leofric. The man let out an arrow, seeing if it could hit anyone. He didn’t expect it to work, though.

Incredibly, the arrow soars over the heads of the hired soldiers, covering an otherwise seemingly impossible distance. Perhaps the wind spirits had answered Rokan's intentions and chosen to assist him for the sake of their own whimsy. However, though the arrow meets its mark, it had been fired half-heartedly, leading to it only barely pinging off Leofric's pauldron.

Running over to the side of the wyvern knight once more, Wren pays a little tune again, peeking around the creature's red-scaled hide to get a glimpse of Lord Leofric across the street. Goddess, if he was close enough to see him, then Leofric was definitely close enough to see Wren too. He hopes for now the man will be too distracted to actually pay attention to a measly bard above the others with weapons that could actually kill him. Or better -- he'd simply run away and not get killed by the very people sent here to protect this town.

The rider simply went along with it; obviously she had picked up something he couldn't. Soon enough though, he too saw something sticking out from behind one of the trunks...

What Erce picks up is the faint scent of iron, nested and well-concealed amidst the trees. As Marek digs through them, the underbrush reveals a rapier propped against the walled divider between this district and the remainder of Lorelle. Its blade gleams without a single scratch, the handle well-fashioned and sturdy.

Arthur gave short chuckle at the swordwoman's comment. "Trust me, I have survived much worse without my armor. But let's make a deal; we'll both share our names after the battle. That way neither of us will be allowed to die." He nodded at the swordswoman indicating he genuinely meant that, and then kicked off running to fight a new target. Heavy blade ready to strike, he brought it down upon the thief.

Rokan winced in paion, his mind focused on the strike he had taken from the Fighter. “I need a bit of help here.” With a small whisper and calm breathing, he felt his wound begin to recover, though still in needing a bit of treatment. He was prepared to jump back and take a shot at his opponent until he saw Noah run past to flank them.

“Nice one, but I can take a bit more than just that.” Rokan sent a salute the boy’s way before dashing past him, reaching for an arrow as he put his sights on the Soldier. “Now, time to cover for our ally over there. A bit of help, maybe?”
