Hey all. i am kinda new in pokemon reborn (i played a couple days last summer) and but i have some important questions, i don't know if this is the right place to do it, but here goes;
1. Do i need to have great or perfect IVs and natures and to EV train my pokemon to finish the game?

2. a ) What is the shiny chance? Particularly of starter pokemon

b ) Can NPCs have shinies?

c ) Is there a shiny sprite list i can access? i want to see the shinies of my favorite pokemon here and decide if i am to go for one of them.

3. I heard people begun the game with dragon pokemon as starters is this possible or i heard wrong?

4. I played last summer reborn but only untill a little after the first badge, i remember grinding a LOT. I went to the grasses and leveled pokemon so i could win the gym. Did i do something wrong? Or is this the way the game is meant to be played?

5. I remember giving a load of money to those magicarp dudes but nothing, was i a victim?

6. Any additional info about the game will be appreciated (what pokemon to choose, train etc)
Thanks in advance, i hope i get my questions answered.

1) No, not at all, but it will make this easier (maybe too easy for some)

2) a) I don't know the exact number, but I think it is between 0.5% and 1%.

B  ) Unless they are programed to, no

     C)  Yes, they are a folder in the downloads (graphics--->battlers)

3) Under normal circumstances no.  You can go to the 'Request a mon' thread for a custom starter (or ask someone to trade you mon in place of your starter, I suppose)

4) Depends on your strategy and the mons you chose.

5) That quest start is the same and is still ongoing into the next episode.

6) Very open ended, but:  Krickatune is a good crutch pokem for the first two gyms; always have common candies on hand

1/ No its not mandatory to have great or perfect IVs or even Ev train your mons to finish the game, but if you do it'll make the game slightly easier

2/a- i'm not sure but th shiny chance is much more higher than the cannon games, the same for starters i think

b- its random, i havent met an NPC with a shiny but i could be wrong

c- you can see all shinies in the graphics-> battlers folder inside Reborn (i mean the game)

4/yes there is a thread called: requeest-a-mon thread where you can request a specific mon to start with/there are trainers that you can battle as much as you like to grind up, they're in the grand hall

5- no but getting magikarp is a long event that doesnt end in this episode

6- i think a fire type would be the wisest decision

I'll answer as best as I can:

1. I wouldn't say it's neccessary, but if you don't have at least decent ivs your pokemon are likely to struggle later on. They don't need to be perfect, but I personally don't take anything 10 or below.

2. a) 700/65500 or .01% for ALL pokemon, wild, starter, etc.. Still rare, but you're likely to come across one eventually, especially if you grind.

    b] Probably not.

    c) Reborn->Graphics->Battlers

3. To my knowledge, only the 18 starters are available and megas aren't in the game yet.

4. Grinding is essential in some areas more than others, especially since you should always have a team of 6. Alt speeds up the game 3x if that helps.

5. That is an optional ongoing sidequest, keep playing and you'll come across them multiple times.

6. You can use just about any pokemon as long as they appropriately back each other up. My team: Chesnaught, Meowstic m, Lopunny, Gyarados, Glaceon, and Arcanine. Some of those pokes are pretty bad, but work pretty well as a team.

Seki already answered everything, so I'll just add in my two cents.

1. Do i need to have great or perfect IVs and natures and to EV train my pokemon to finish the game?

Nope, I got through most of the game without any breeding/training (even before the gym nerfs), and it's perfectly doable. It's more fun playing this way imo cause you don't have to go through the tedium of breeding lol. There's an NPC later in the game that can change the nature of your mons btw.

2. a ) What is the shiny chance? Particularly of starter pokemon

1/8192. The chance of Pokerus is 3/65536 if you were curious.

b ) Can NPCs have shinies?

Yes, and it's completely random. At least in the older versions. Idk about the current episode.

c ) Is there a shiny sprite list i can access? i want to see the shinies of my favorite pokemon here and decide if i am to go for one of them.

Pokemon Reborn\Graphics\Battlers <---- contains sprites of all pokemon currently in the game, shiny and normal versions

4. I played last summer reborn but only untill a little after the first badge, i remember grinding a LOT. I went to the grasses and leveled pokemon so i could win the gym. Did i do something wrong? Or is this the way the game is meant to be played?

Everyone plays differently, but I actually had issues with overleveling early on, and that was from just fighting other trainers. I didn't start grinding till late game to train up mons outside of my existing team. But again, everyone plays differently.

6. Any additional info about the game will be appreciated (what pokemon to choose, train etc)

Trubbish was a godsend for the first ~3 gyms because of Acid Spray (deals damage and lowers enemy's sp. defense by 2 levels). I used to hate trubbish, but now I know better lmao.

I always bought my pokeballs 10 at a time to get the free premium balls. Doing that helps you save money early on.

Since most answers were taken, I will just warn you that the two favorite members to have on any team (at least according to the forums) are Magnezone and Gardevoir. I don't own a Gardevoir myself, but I did use a Magnezone, and it works well with the field effects system as soon as you catch it as a Magnemite.

1) They are coded already, but not implemented.  We can collect a few mega stones already though.

2) After registering a name on the server, log in and you will have the option to trade or battle.  You will have the option to Wonder trade or trade with an individiual

3) Yes.  Progress is kept as long as you have the save file.  Varies, the next episode is at a little over 50%....has been for a while

4) I know on laptops, you have to hit control and f12, but I don't know about yours.

1. I see mega evolutions in the sprites gallery, are they not in the game?

Most of them aren't in YET, but will be eventually. There's at least 1 available in the latest episode.   Apparently not. I do remember finding a mega stone though, but I guess we haven't gotten the mega bracelet yet.

2. How does the online trading work? i wont try it but just asking

You access it through your pokegear. It'll prompt you to either login or create an account. If you haven't used online features yet, you'll have to create an account. Everything in handled in-game when you access the online option, so don't worry about doing anything on here.

From there, you can do wonder trading or if you set up a proper trade with someone outside the game, you can input their login name and trade with them.

3. Episodes are versions of the game? if i finish and the next episode comes out do i lose my progress ? Every how much time does a new episode come?

Yes, the game is released in "episodes." The latest is ep. 16. Saved games are stored outside of the Reborn folder, which means that updating or even deleting Reborn won't harm your saved data. Saved data is stored in C:\Users\[accountName]\Saved Games\Pokemon Reborn. Episodes are of different lengths, and there's a lot going on behind the scenes, so it varies are often episodes are released. From my experience, it could take as little as a few months to as long as a year for the next episode to to released. As far as I know, ep. 17 is about halfway done as of now?

4. Have u tried SR for a starter? i love shinies and have bred many in the main games, i want to get one here too! i have a problem also since f12 doesnt seem to SR the app crashes.

I can sr with F12 no problem. Maybe post your problem on the Troubleshooting forum? I haven't sr for shinies because I don't care enough lol.

You can also check here to have an overview of how much the development of the new episode has progressed so far. But exact dates aren't announced by Ame, who is the main developer.

Thanks everyone for the answers! i will probably soft reset for a shiny starter (and when i dont get it i will SR for the nature/ability only :D ) and start the game. You are all great.

Also to let you know, natures can be changed much later in the game, and abilities can be changed fairly early with an ability capsule :)

thanks to all here for the replies, i am enjoying the game ! I have 4 shinies (2 from soft reseting charmander and murkrow and 2 randoms, butterfree and noibat).
If anyone knows, whats up with tms? Are they rare or just they are nowhere to be found? because for some pokemon some tms are mandatory to work fine

That's part of the difficulty of Reborn: heavy TM restriction.  You won't be getting powerful TM coverage moves for quite a while (and even then only about 2 to 4 are available by episode 16's end---though that's a pretty vague catergoy, so maybe more or less).

The same applies move tutors, though there are good ones after you get midway through and really good ones later on.
