Orasha
The Devon Raid is an... interesting time. My team handled it pretty well, and the puzzles weren't that bad, but one part was. Changing the tiles around so you don't get shocked. For half of it, I thought that if you were standing on a non-electrified panel and changed it, you would then be electrified. This meant that I though you had to switch the tiles rapidly while on the treads. And then I found out that you don't need to do that. Argh. But with that figured out, it wasn't too bad, and I quite liked the area. Now on a different note... Lin. I hate to say it, but I can't take Lin seriously. And it's over something completely ridiculous too: I think her hair looks like a bird. I know that's a stupid, superficial complaint, and I'm not sure anyone else will agree. But everytime I see her, I imagine a light green bird sitting on her head, and it makes me smile. I think I talked about this before, but it reminds me of Seymour's hair from FFX, and completely takes me out of the game and makes me take her less seriously. Even when she's doing the most fucked up shit and killing people, in the back of my head I'm thinking, You hair looks like a bird and its hilarious. We have to fight Victoria. Her personality has changed drastically, and this time she isn't trying to stop us because she wants to protect something. No, she wants to defeat us so she can deal with Team Meteor personally. Will she be able to beat us now? My team: Spoiler AND, INTRODUCING: I have a really bad habit of not nicknaming my Pokemon. That'll be rectified before we face Adrienn. Clefable is basically a Special Attacking version of Granbull, though she has a bit more longevity thanks to Moonblast. VS VICTORIA Spoiler We start off with Loki, as usual, and Victoria leads with Mienshao. I remember how much of a pain this mon was when Samson had it, but it also had a field it could abuse. Mienshao almost takes the Trick Master out with High Jump Kick, but its not enough, and Loki sets up Trick Room. Victoria using almost all Fighting Pokemon, so Stealth Rocks aren't necessary, and Loki explodes. Luckily for us, this takes out Mienshao. Victoria sends out Scrafty, so I bring out Kasha. A double weakness to fighting ensures that Pixilated Hyper Voice is a OHKO. Next up is Lucario, a very dangerous threat. Kasha sets up Misty Terrain, and I fully expect to be OHKOed; instead, Lucario boosts itself using Calm Mind. Kasha hits hard with Hyper Voice, and manages to survive a Steel attack with critical HP, allowing her to KO the metal menace next turn. Togekiss comes out, and, knowing that I'll be KOed, Kasha uses Wish. True to my prediction, Togekiss KOs Kasha with Air Slash. I send out Clefable. Charge Beam hits for about a quarter of Togekiss' HP, and she gets the special attack boost. Trick Room ends. Air Slash causes Clefable to flinch (*shakes fist* SERENE GRAAAAACE), but Kasha's Wish brings my plucky pixie back to full HP. More flinching ends the terrain, and Clefable is nearly taken out a few times, but Moonlight and perseverance finally allow her to KO Togekiss with one final Charge Beam. Victoria sends out Gallade, and I respond with Aonyobo. Gallade sets up, allowing Gardevoir to OHKO her cousin with Moonblast. Its down to Emboar, who OHKOs Aonyobo with Flare Blitz. So much for setting Trick Room again... but it doesn't even matter, since I send out my ace, Bean Sidhe, who OHKOs the flaming pig with Waterfall. Some things don't change, eh, Victoria? Of course, I had a type advantage there so I shouldn't get too cocky... After a puzzle that took me way longer to figure out than it should have, I have to fight Arclight as well. We have a choice to refuse him, but why would I pass up a chance to battle the coolest person in Reborn? Dude runs an exclusive nightclub, how difficult could he be? I also switched out Clefable for Chansey, partially to test her out, and partially because Arclight is probably an Electric Specialist, and Electric types tend to have better Special Attack than Physical Attack. VS ARCLIGHT Dude looks metal as fuck Spoiler For this battle, we're leading with Chansey. Just kidding, its Loki again, who manages to tank a Superpower from Luxray to set up Stealth Rocks and Trick Room, before Exploding, taking the electric lion out. Unsure of who Arc would send out next, I opted for Macha, since she has great type coverage. Arclight brings out Exploud, which I didn't expect, but it is a sound-based Pokemon and Arclight's a DJ so it makes sense. I was a little worried that it might outspeed me under trick room (underspeed? What is the proper term here?), but luckily Macha's base speed of 45 allowed her to OHKO it with Close Combat. Jolteon is out next, so Macha attacks with Play Rough. The eeveelution survives with a magic pixel, activating its Petaya berry, and takes Macha out with a field-boosted Discharge. Ouch. Predicting that Arclight would use a healing item, I send out Chansey, who poisons Jolteon with Toxic. Chansey hits with Seismic Toss (which has an amazing animation) and tanks a Signal Beam, but poison doesn't finish the little dog off. Predicting another potion, I switch to Kasha. Arclight heals again, and Kasha KOs Jolteon with Hyper Voice. Trick Room ends, and Arclight sends out Noivern. Kasha laughs at Boomburst and OHKOs it with Hyper Voice. Raichu is next, so I switch Kasha for Aonyobo. The mouse sets Nasty Plot, and Aonyobo brings it to low HP with Moonblast. Raichu's Hidden Power doesn't do much damage, and Aonyobo KOs it with another Moonblast. Next up is Ampharos, so I send in Chansey. Chansey badly poisons the shorn sheep, and Ampharos uses Agility which is... quite useless under Trick Room. And then it Mega-Evolves. Welp. Chansey's got her work cut out for her. Chansey hits with Seismic Toss, and Mega-Ampharos uses Dragon Pulse. Thanks to her amazing stats, EV training, and Eviolite, Chansey doesn't even bat an eye. Another Seismic Toss, another Dragon Pulse, and Trick Room ends. But it doesn't matter. Eventually Ampharos goes down, thanks to Toxic and Soft Boiled. Chansey is seriously a beast. Well, that was a bit more difficult, and I didn't expect the Mega-Evolution at all, but Chansey has truly proven her worth. Managed to beat both of them on my first try, too. Can't really say that about the next boss, though... Another puzzle, and we arrive just in time to see Lin decapitate Ame. Huh. Wasn't expecting that. I'm not sure what I thought the Absol was for, but our friends were getting tortured and I was hopeful that no one would die. Lin leaves and we get to confront ZEL again... but that'll have to wait! NEXT TIME: It's the Final Showdown! ZEL brings out the Ultimate PULSE, but will it be enough to defeat us? And then: Mania in the Mist! Who is the most proficient with pixies? Find out next time! rayyan
That chansey is such a beauty and to think I've never used it in my life ..sigh... Looks like the next update will be the final😀
Orasha
We arrive at the top of... wherever we are to find ZEL lamenting everything that's happened so far. They drop this line which seems like it could be Terra's work, or Terra herself. ZEL isn't having a good day, and even though we reassure them we aren't here to destroy everything, they attempt to battle us with the help of PULSE Magnezone... the same PULSE that caused their creation. VS ZEL Spoiler After a few unsuccessful attempts, I switch Chansey out for Clefable. I also consider bringing in Futakuchi, since Espeon was being a real pain. However, backtracking to the PC is a real chore and I wanted to give it another shot. Aurorus is a Dick with a capital "D." It knows Flash Cannon, which is boosted by the field, and Snow Warning allows it to KO Loki on the first turn. However, sometimes ZEL decides to be nice, and Aurorus uses Ice Beam instead, which is much more manageable. Aurorus also has a Focus Sash, meaning that without some luck, it takes 2 turns to take it down. Luckily for me, this time Aurorus used Ice Beam instead, allowing Loki to set up Trick Room. Rather than put up Stealth Rocks, Loki uses Power Gem instead, rendering Aurorus' Focus Sash worthless. He then falls to a Flash Cannon. I send out Macha. Without Carbink breaking Aurorus' Focus Sash, the Dino usually survives with 1 HP to OHKO her with Flash Cannon. This time, however, he's not so lucky, and Macha's Close Combat ends the beast. Next up is Alakazam, but I generally don't have problems with him. Low Defense and high Speed ensure that Macha gets a OHKO with Play Rough. Glaceon comes in, and Macha hits with Close Combat. Unfortunately, its not enough, and Glaceon KOs Macha with Blizzard (which, thanks to the Hail, has boosted accuracy). I send out Kasha, who KOs the other eeveelution with Hyper Voice. This was a little weird, I was really expecting that to be in potion range... Next up is Espeon. Kasha turns the field Misty, which boosts Espeon's Dazzling Gleam. Fortunately for me, it also boosts Sylveon's already high Special Defense, so it doesn't do much damage. Hyper Voice takes Espeon to low yellow HP, and Kasha tanks another Dazzling Gleam. Trick Room ends, and Psyshock takes Kasha into the red, but the little pixie manages to KO Espeon with another Hyper Voice. Next up is Umbreon. Kasha barely lives a Foul Play (surviving with only 9 HP!) and uses Wish, because I half expected to faint there. Next turn, Umbreon KOs him with another Foul Play. I send out Aonyobo. Umbreon hits her with Foul Play for about a third of her HP, and she sets up Trick Room again. Kasha's Wish comes true, taking Aonyobo back to full. Umbreon uses Foul Play again (outspeeding Gardevoir under Trick Room even though he outspeeded her outside of Trick Room. Do I not understand how Trick Room works? Do they have equal Speeds? Foul Play isn't a priority move and it can't be due to an item, since Umbreon has Leftovers. And it can't be because of an ability, because Aonyobo Traced it and it was Synchronize). Anyways, after tanking that Foul Play, Aonyobo gets a critical Moonblast, which easily OHKOs Umbreon. And then... PULSE Magnezone. This guy is really annoying. I mean, super annoying. Maybe he's less of a pain without a type advantage, but he has the potential to sweep my whole team with field-boosted Flash Cannons. Magnezone is also faster than Aonyobo under Trick Room, and hits with a Discharge, bringing her to critical HP. She hits with Psychic for barely any damage, and Misty Terrain ends (it was probably the only reason I survived Discharge). I keep her in to Suicide, and she's KOed by another Discharge. I bring out Bean Sidhe, who hits with Superpower, bringing Magnezone to low yellow HP, but she's OHKOed by another Discharge. Hopefully it'll be enough... I send out Clefable. It's all up to her now, since no one else has anything super effective against Steel. Luckily, she outspeeds it under Trick Room, and Magnezone wasn't in potion range, because she KOs the beast with Flamethrower! Thank Arceus That fight was... a massive pain. PULSE Magnezone is incredible, has a type advantage, and can hit hard with field-boosted Flash Cannons. For a while, Espeon was the biggest pain, as it kept walling my offense. I knew that I needed to let Trick Room expire and then put it back up against Umbreon, otherwise there would be no chance of victory, since Magnezone can simply outspeed any of my fairies with super-effective moves. I tried that... a lot of times. In the end, I was very lucky. ZEL didn't use their potions, either with Glaceon or with Magnezone. If Superpower had brought Magnzeone into potion range, I would have been a goner for sure. That being said, it was a great change of pace. I've been kind of steamrolling the game thanks to Trick Room, and the battles against Arclight and Victoria weren't especially challenging. It was nice to have a boss that really felt like a boss to me. With the PULSE defeated, it seems we've exorcised Eve and Lumi from Zero's body. Alone for the first time in years, he vows revenge and runs away to Calcenon. Before we battle Adrienn, it's time for more sidequests! I make the Silvon Scope, and use it to save Beryl Ward from Kecleons. I also make sure to gather all 15 volunteers for Adrienn. But before the battle begins, I remember to give Chansey and Clefable nicknames! It took me long enough... I christen Chansey Danu, after a hypothetical mother goddess from Irish mythology, and Clefable Cliodhna (which is pronounced more like Kliana or Kleena because Gaelic is weird), after the queen of the fairies in Irish folklore. My Team: Spoiler This took a couple tries. At first I tried the tried and true Trick Room strategy, but Granbull is one of Adrienn's starting pokemon, and could outspeed me under the twisted dimensions. This made Loki basically superfluous, so he was eventually boxed. Since Kasha is our Misty Terrain setter, and the field is already Misty, I decided to box him as well. After a handful of losses and additional experimentation, I decided to try out both Cliodhna and Danu in this battle. The Queen Mothers, if you will. Pretty standard sets. Futakuchi has returned thanks to her Steel type moves, and Macha carries an Expert Belt to make her super effective moves even more super. VS ADRIENN Spoiler Adrienn leads with Gardevoir and Granbull, while I counter-lead with Futakuchi and Cliodhna. Gardevoir uses Dazzling Gleam, hitting both for a little less than half HP. Cliodhna hits Granbull with Moonblast for about half its HP, and Futakuchi OHKOs Gardevoir with Iron Head. Adrienn brings out Mega-Mawile, my nemesis. The first time I played, I expected this to be his ace, and was very surprised when he brought it out as his first replacement. Cliodhna takes about half of the mega's HP with Flamethrower, and she responds by KOing Futakuchi with Iron Head. Granbull hits Cliodhna with critical Brick Break, but its not very effective. I send out Bean Sidhe. To ensure a KO, Bean Sidhe hits Mega Mawile with Aqua Jet (the only way for Bean Sidhe to outspeed it), and Cliodhna finishes it off with another Flamethrower. Adrienn brings out Togekiss, and I switch Cliodhna out for Macha, who gets hit with a Psyshock. Bean Sidhe hits Granbull with Play Rough, KOing it. Adrienn sends out Whimsicott, who uses Tailwind, boosting their speed and blowing away the mist to reveal a Fairy Tale field. Togekiss brings Macha to critical HP with Ancient Power, which is now boosted by the field, and Bean Sidhe OHKOs Whimsicott with a field-boosted Play Rough. Something weird keeps Macha from using Fire Punch (I think the field stopped it? Maybe she flinched? I'm still not sure. Either way it was a misplay cause I should have used Ice Punch). Adrienn sends out Florges, and I switch Macha for Danu. Florges uses a field-boosted Dazzling Gleam to bring Bean Sidhe to critical HP, though it doesn't do much to Chansey, and Togekiss uses Dazzling Gleam as well, KOing Azumarill. I send out Aonyobo. Florges spams Dazzling Gleam again, while Togekiss uses Ancient Power, almost KOing Aonyobo. Togekiss also receives the full stat boost from Ancient Power. Great. Danu poisons Florges with Toxic, and Aonyobo uses Trick Room. Danu uses Soft Boiled, which brings her up to full HP, while Aonyobo sacrifices herself with Healing Wish. Danu tanks both a Dazzling Gleam and a Psyshock. She really is one of the best special sponges in the game. I bring out Cliodhna, healed to full thanks to Aonyobo's sacrifice. I think the field boosts Healing Wish, since Cliodhna received an attack, special attack, and defense boost. Danu uses Soft Boiled again, while Cliodhna hits Togekiss with Charge Beam. They both tank Dazzling Gleams and Psyshocks. Unfortunately, Cliodhna is taken out, so I have to send out Macha, who still has low HP. Adrienn uses a turn to heal both Florges and Togekiss (something I wasn't expecting), and Macha hits Togekiss with Ice Punch, freezing it. Some good luck at last... Another Ice Punch brings Togekiss to critical HP, and Danu's seismic toss brings Florges to low HP as well. Dazzling Gleam KOs Macha, and Florges finally succumbs to Toxic. Adrienn has another fucking potion, and heals Togekiss to full. Chansey hits with Seismic toss, and Trick Room ends. The flying fairy is finally defrosted and uses Ancient Power, but Chansey heals back to full with Soft-Boiled. Danu poisons Togekiss, and Psyshock brings the plucky mother to Half HP. Another Psyshock almost KOs her, but Chansey uses Soft Boiled and lives! Danu is able to stall Togekiss out with Soft Boiled and Toxic damage! Finally, the nightmare is over You had three hyper potions, Adrienn. That was pretty difficult. I had to experiment with team composition and leads a bunch to finally get one that worked. Sorry about not having screenshots for some of the later parts of the battle. Once Macha had to come back in, I thought I was done for, and especially so when it was a 2 on 1 vs Danu. Chansey is seriously amazing, how have I never used her before?! Mega-Mawile is... powerful, and was the biggest obstacle to overcome. That monster is STRONG. Maybe we'll have the Mega Ring before we face Titania... I sure hope so. And that ends the main story for now. I decide to rennovate the Railnet, since I can get a Togepi from that. I name it Taranis, after a Celtic sky god who was also identified with the wheel, and later syncretised with Jupiter. Togepi doesn't have great IVs, but they're doable. The lowest IV is Special Defense, which happens to be Togekiss' second highest stat, so I'm not that worried. I also have amazing special walls. I'm not sure what I want on him in terms of moveset, but I've got a lot of time to think about it... With that, this playthrough really is complete. I might EV train my main members or raise Togepi in the downtime, but until Episode 17 comes out there isn't anything else that I can do. This run was a blast I had never played with fairies before, since my only other Pokemon experience is Ruby. This gave me the chance to experiment with something outside my comfort zone, not just with Fairies, but also with Trick Room. However, in some ways I think this run was... almost too easy. Even though PULSE Magnezone and Adrienn were challenging, Misty Terrain and Trick Room basically trivialized any other encounters towards the end. I suspect that the other terrain setting moves make runs easier as well, and anyone who decides to use Trick Room may not understand why Reborn is known for its difficulty... My next run will be a Mono-Rock run, so look out for that in a couple of days! Until then, I'll see you in Episode 17! Titania will definitely make me revisit this save file.... RedAlert
@Orasha At long last, you did it! Mega Mawile is a powerful monster, there's a reason why it's in OU anyways (it is, isn't it). In any case, hearty congratulations from a fellow monotyper, and good luck for your next run! PS: Hopefully you have a mega stone for your Mawile as well! Or a mega audino might help you consider other alternatives

Or a mega audino might help you consider other alternatives Mega Mawile and Mega Audino are both cool and I'll probably experiment with them both. Mega Audino is more of a cleric and wishpasser though, and I already have that covered so I'm not sure. Mega Mawile under Trick Room might just be a wincon. And of course, Mega Gardevoir is also great, since Pixilated Hyper Voice tears almost everything to shreds. It's gonna be a real interesting time Even if the mega ring isn't introduced next episode, I'm definitely hype for the new Fairy types (especially Alolan Ninetales and Mimiku).
