Night is a young trainer, who is moving to the Reborn region for a bit of a change. Watch as they struggle thru the world, not knowing when danger will strike.

This isn't a spoiler, more an author's note that I didn't know where to put. This is the first story I have written in this style I hope it's good. Also, this separates the story from the entries

Dear Diary,

Day one of my journey to reborn, and I'm stuck on a train. I don't mind too much, the scenery is fairly nice. A moutan range with beautiful snowy tips. 

I should probably introduce myself, I am Night. I use non-binary terms like they or them.  That's what I told the weight haired girl, Ame, when she asked. She seemed like a very nice girl, who promised to help me get registered as an official trainer. I gladly accepted her offer and the card that she gave me before she walked off.

The next thing that happened really scared the living daylights out of me, and I really couldn't tell you how I survived. The cart in front of the one I was in, next thing I know I'm in the streets, in the rain, with the sound of another explosion ringing in my ears, a distant voice over my head asking if I was alright. It sounded somewhat familiar. 

"Hey, you're awake. Good. I'm sorry you had to go thru that. Let's get you cleaned up." Groaning I gently rubbed the back of my hand across my forehead. Admittedly I felt quite nauseous.

"You don't look so good. Here let me give you a hand." With a gentle nod I took her hand, but almost instantly regretted it. The world spun and I collapsed to the groan gasping for air, as my breakfast threatened to jump out of my stomach. 

"Oh, you really aren't doing that good. Sit, I'll bring you to a room where you can stay the night. I'll check Ick back in on you tomorrow, and I'll send a nurse to keep an eye on you." 

The thing that you should know about Ame is that she is small, and she really doesn't look that strong, but she is. She was able to carry me from the train station, across peridot ward and into the league building, then up another few flights of stairs and into a guest room with no effort what so ever.

"It might be a bit of shock, you did barely survive something no one should go there. I'm going to send nurse joy up in a little bit just to make sure you're ok, tomorrow if you're any better I want a physical done, perhaps an x-ray if it seems necessary." Ame smiled before heading out. Pausing at the door she added, "Welcome to Reborn Night, Welcome to Reborn."

I don't really remember much after that, just something about a burn on my sclipu- whatever and possible bruising along my vertebrae. Something about more unseen injuries, then blacking out.

If you're wondering how I wrote this today diary, then you will have to thank my memory. It's not the best, but I was able to remember this two weeks after the incident. My injuries, first and second-degree burns from my scapula (shoulder blades) to my Thoracic (mid back), heavy bruising from my T-6 to my L-2 (the bones in my spine), and a fractured femur (Upper leg bone). Of course, there is permanent damage, I have limp that may or may not get better, and a fair sized scar was the burn was the worst.

I didn't get a Pokemon yet, as Joy thinks I need a little more rest. I night be able to get one tomorrow, however, if things get better.

Well, this is the beginning of a new story, I hope I can keep this up until the very end of time.

Dear Diary,

Sorry about yesterday's entry, It was a bit all over the place. Joy says that it didn't matter too much as it's a diary, no one else should be reading it but me anyways. Of course, your not a typical diary, as I'm typing you up instead of keeping you in a book. This way I can hide anything that might be personal, or even little die notes.

Joy wants me to get a cane, to help me walk, and said that she would even order me a custom one if I wanted.

This is what I decided on, it should arrive fairly soon.

 

Nurse Joy did, however, allow me to get registered today, which meant walking somewhat harshly down three sets of stairs. It was completely worth it as Ame seemed happy to see me in good shape. She lead me to a back room, that had three long tables of poke balls on them.  It did take me a little bit to decide, but I ended up choosing Ashen, the Chimchar as my starter. After properly registering me into the system, Ame lead me back to the main room were two new people stood. A girl with long black hair in a grey dress and a kid I thought was possibly a girl, with short purple hair and a fishnet shirt on. 

"Ah, Visctoria, Cain, you both arrived on time. I would like you to meet Night. Night these are Victoria and Cain." Ame pointed to the girl then the kid.

"You're cute," Cain said with a wink and I chuckled.

"I'll let you date me if you can properly identify me in French." I winked with a small chuckle.

"I will figure it out you know." Cain smiled and I nodded. 

"How about this, if you beat me in a battle I tell you, I win you are left to guess." This was the first time I had ever bet anything on a battle and it was someone I had just met, and a date. Reborn was clearly bringing out a part of me I didn't know I had.

The battle between me and Cain was a very fun one, to say the least. They used a male Nidoran, and I used Ashen. The battle lasted about five turns, due to the fact that we both got a critical hit our first turn, and I healed Ashen my fourth. But in the end, I won, and Cain took it a lot better than I had expected.

 

"Not bad Night. That was fun. But why don't we make this rivalry a bit more interesting by extending this bet. Anytime we battle if you win, I learn nothing, I win you tell me something about yourself. A hint of sorts." Cain smiled and offered me his hand. It was an interesting concept and I found myself respecting him.

"Two ways and you have a deal. I win you tell me something, you win I tell you something." This time I extended my hand in offering.

"Deal. I'll even let you ask me a question this time." Cain nodded as he shook my hand.

"What are you, boy girl, both, neither a bit of everything?" I had been wondering since we met, and it seemed to catch Cain off guard.

"Admittedly I haven't really given it much thought," 

"Until you can give me a proper answer I will call you a Pansexual Blackberry," I said with a bright smile. Cain let out a small chuckle.

"Know what, you are officially Pansexual Blackberry, or Blackberry for short, to me. What would you like to cal me?" 

"Sly Ice Peach, Ice Peach for short."

With that was the start of what I hope will be a long friendship.

What happened next, I was not expecting. After we healed our Pokemon, Ame approached us with Victoria at her side. 

"Alright Cain, let's get you properly registered." 

"See you later Ice Peach." This got a confused look from Ame and Victoria.

"Alright Blackberry," I Called back and Victoria chuckled.

"Alright, Night. Why don't we test our Pokemon now? I chose mine during your fight with Cain." Vicotria said and I nodded.

The fight with Victoria was similar to the one with Blackberry. Victoria used a Tepeg, and again I used Ashen.  I ended up winning but it was a fairly close call.

 

"Wow, I don't know what to say." Victoria smiled, clearly impressed. "You beat both me and Cain in a row."

I really didn't see why it was impressive that I beat Blackberry or her. I mean the battles were close and I had to work my ass off for the wins, but that would have been the case even if Blackberry of Victoria had won. 

"You did really good to Victoria, it was a very close battle." It was true, if her Tepeg had been just a little faster, she would have won.

"Night, you should rest. I'll see you later ok?" With that Victoria took off.

I healed my Pokemon then, did what I was told. I headed back to my room for a bit of a rest. My leg had started getting sore near the end of my battle with Victoria and really did not appreciate the stairs. Once in my room,  I took some time to think about what had happened, and about my two new friends Cain, the Pansexual Blackberry, and Victoria.

Dear Diary,

My cane finally came, so now I can properly start my adventure. victoria gave me five poke balls and told me to use them wisely. Blackberry informed me that the gym leader used electric types, and liked explosions. Finally, Ame told me about the level caps and what level my Pokemon would obey me to. Then they left me to train and catch Pokemon, with no one holding my hand. It wasn't long before I was conned out of five hundred dollars, after attempting to by a Pokemon. It was clear that the theft had been preplanned, and that I would have to make them give me my Pokemon, one way or another once I found them again. After heading out front I ran into a little girl with a Snubull, who had stopped listening to her. I had little sympathy for her and quickly tuned her out as she chased after it. Not long after that I was challenged to a battle by a researcher, who was studying hidden abilities, named Jonathan.

The battle was quick, but Jonathan seemed impressed.

"Thank you so much for helping me with my research."  With a small nod, I left. Making my way around, I found a staircase.  

"You can't go up there! It's for trainers only! The only way you can pass is to beat me in a battle." The boy said and I rolled my eyes. I and Ashen made easy work of him, and he let us pass. But at this point, I had changed my mind. Deciding to explore the city a bit more, perhaps find another Pokemon to add to my team.

When I was walking I found a clearly homeless man, asking for money. Out of pity, I gave him one hundred and fifty dollars. This turned out to be a good idea as he then walked into a corner and fell asleep, giving me access to a narrow alleyway. I didn't go down it, as I wasn't quite done my exploring. After some exploring, and a few battles I realised, just how bad it was in the Wards. Many people were in poverty and had lost their job, the crime rate was way up, and someone even tried to kidnap me. The buildings and roads were cracked and the lake was poisonous and unsafe. It also seemed to be constantly gloomy. Luckily I was able to locate a Pokemon centre that was willing to heal my Pokemon. As I was Training I cough a second Pokemon, a Woobat named Hearts. That's when I decided to go down the alleyway that I had found earlier. The alley lead to a long abandoned house, with a small Pokemon in it. The Pokemon was a fairly nervous looking Espurr that decided to join us, I named it Pheonix Cat. I also met a Tedyursa, but it ran away before I could catch it.  

At the end of the day I found the man who had stolen my Pokemon and demanded that I got it back. He suckered me out of another five hundred dollars, before the salesman appeared. They both refused to give me my Pokemon back unless I beat them in a double battle. Sadly I lost due to rushing into it and being ill prepared. Luckily I was able to get to the Pokemon centre without being jumped. After healing I challenged the two con artists again, this time using Hearts instead of Pheonix Cat. this time I won and Ashen even evolved.

Of course, the one had actually been mugged, and don't even have my Pokemon. Deciding to call it a day, I went back to the main building and returned to my room.

I'm going to go to bed now.

Dear Diary,

After a long rest, I decided to train Pheonix Cat up by challenging all the trainers on the bridge. Before that, however, I found another abandoned house, this time with a Whismur in it. The Whismer was not as calm as Pheonix Cat had been and attacked me.  Pheonix cat was able to weaken it, just enough for me to catch her. I named her Bomb and continued on my way, then I was jumped by a Pokemon hiding in a trash can.After I caught it, I realised what it was. It was a Gulpin, that I named Kissy.

After training for a bit I found two sanctuaries. A grass sanctuary run by an old man, and a water one run by a Fisher. After a bit I returned to the bridge, stopping three men from throwing a small Zigzagoon off of the bridge.  The Zigzagoon was really grateful and decided to join us. After a bit of training, I decided that I could catch a Lightningrod ability Goldeen. It took me five tries, but I did and named him Rod. I swapped Rod out for Bomb and continued training. Then I decided, I would go to the gym and challenge the leader. Sadly when I got there, there was a note, telling her to go to the old factory. Training on my way, I was able to get all my Pokemon to level ten, at least. Once I got to the factory, I was surprised to see a fairly nice body boy, with nice green hair. 

"Hey! What are you looking at? I hope you know who you're dealing with!" The boy snarled, glaring at me. "I am Fern! Cool cat and top dog!"

"I'm Night and I have a bargain for you and your cute little lips." I smiled, I had a plan. "I win we kiss, you win, I simply flirt from a distance."

"You have yourself a deal." Fern snarled.

The battle with Fern was a bit disappointing. I easily took out his Lotad with Hearts, then the rest with Ashen. It almost seemed like he was trying to be the grass gym leader, but got beat out by someone elce. I was admitedly really disapointed.

 

"Whatever man, I don't have time for this." Fern rolled his eyes and placed a gentle peck on my lips. "Happy now?" 

Of course I was, but I didn't bother telling him that.

Dear Diary,

My first week in Reborn was a mess Hears why:

It was a dark and stormy day, that much I remember. It had been raining from the time I woke up, to the time I got on the train. The only thing was, I felt like I had already lived that day, and not just in a dream or anything. It was unusual to say the least. I remember playing with my trainer card, and finding the manual registration mode that I had been told about. I remember entering my name, Night Arch Fen, my age ,18, my gender, Unknown, and then the explosion.

I don't really remember that much about the explosion just the small arms, the heat and blacking out. I remember voices saying that I would kneed surgery, and then wakening up with a casts and bandages all over the rest of my body.

"Hey, lookie see! She's alive! Besiiiiiides, I sear I didn't do it! I'm an explosaholic, not a terrorist! I just came to see the big boom-boom!" The girls voice was high pitched, really annoying. I winced.

"Julia, it would appear that they, are not used to such loud people." A second, somewhat familiar voice said, putting emphasis on the fact I probably didn't want to be called a boy or a girl.

"Soooooorry! Look Ame! I can't tell sometimes, and I just want her to know that I will be there for her." Julia said and I groaned.

"Julia right?" I moaned sitting up.

"Easy Tiger, don't want to black out again do you?" Ame asked a bit surprised. Julia nodded.

"One, ever heard of the term Gender fluid? It means my gender changes, I don't like he or she anyways. It's always been They or them."I gently placed my head in my hand. "Second, who the hell are you to be at my bed side, yelling like some two year old who has just successfully used the potty!"

Ame seemed shocked, but not nearly as shocked as Julia.

"Amethyst! Why is she such a meanie?" Julia whined. "I'm important! I'm the gym leader! See! Julia Sposai, Electric types specialist, leader class!" Julia then shoved a card in my face.

"You don't deserve that title. Electric gym leaders build from loss. You destroy for  fun. But whatever, you can stay if you shut up." I groaned, flicking it back to her.

"Wh-what?" Julia stuttered Ame was just blankly staring at me in shock.

"You too happy, not dead enough on the inside. You don't know  true loss,and the pain that comes with it. You don't know death and trauma of having both your parents in the war, you don't know what it's like to be self contentious, and uncertain. To have some evil team take everything, and having your hole world blown up and destroyed by said team. You don't know what it's like to genuinely hate your own existence, and the love that only one person is ever truly able to make you feel, the yearning for fire to save your spark. You haven't lived knowing that you are sick, severely depressed, and barley surviving." I shook my head lightly. "I met that man, he lives in Sinnoh, his name's Volkner, look him up."

"Oh, I-I'm sorry. But he is one person! He can't be the only type of electric gym leader."

"He's what I'm used to. This place better be as god damn dark as I thought it was going to be, or I will never fully understand what my freind have gone thru. What it's like to hurt, and not want to live, to be kidnapped, than kidnapped from your kidnappers and raised in isolation, to lose your brother, and loose sight on all hope and love that was in your heart, only for that brother to return and being so hurt that you blame yourself for what happened. To be the one who has to take care of the one who is suffering and put my own disability to the side." I sighed and shook my head. "I came here to feel there pain, and I'm hospitalized in an explosion. Stepping on a land mine, check." Now what are all of these?" I asked indicating the bandages.

"Transplants, due to irreparable damage." Ame let out a small breath. "We had a specialist come in and do them. They will blend right in to your actual body, you wont even be able to tell the difference. Except for the lack of scar tissue on them, that will be on the rest of your body."

"Can they come off, the casts I mean." I asked.

"Yes, but you night not be able to walk properly at first." It was Joy, I recognized her voice anywhere. "So I went ahead and got you a cane."

"Were did you get that? It looks..." Ame started.

"One of Randomus' old ones. He said they could have it. He didn't want his guest being unable to finish her journey." Joy smiled, "Never did say were he  got it."

"Alright Night, meet me at the registration building to get your first Pokemon. It shouldn't be too hard to find." Ame said before leading Julia out the door.

"Take them off, please." I said with a nod.

Nodding Joy carefully removed the casting and bandages, and boy was Ame not kidding. All the scaring from the burns, stopped wherever I had lost a body part.

"My entire left leg, my right foot, my right arm, and my left hand!" I yelped a bit shocked.

"Yes, the fire was really bad." Joy then mumbled something about hopping Gossip was alright.

"I should go. Thank you Joy." I smiled standing carefully with the cane. Again Ame was right, as I found balancing a bit of an act, and a small limp on my left side.

I could see why Ame had made me walk on my own, or at leas understand a bit of her reasoning. She was showing me what Reborn held, what pain and suffering was going on. I had to admit, I really did fear for my life a bit, but that was the point. I wanted to be afraid, to wonder were the next attack would come from. I wanted to know my friends pain, and this was helping. See a world that is in absolute destruction, check.

"Hey, Night! Over hear! My name is Victoria! Ame sent me to make sure you 'didn't get murdered, or wandered of into town without a Pokemon.' I didn't quite get why she wanted me to tell you that." Victoria smile and I nodded.

"Did I really take that long? Sorry, not used to walking with a cane." I sniped lightly letting out a sigh.  "That and the fact that she just told me to come here and not how to get here."

"Oh, you are very snarky."

"No I'm realistic and sarcastic." I huffed. "With a bit of completely bat shit crazy tossed in for good measure."

"Alright, just follow me alright?"

"Yah, whatever." I huffed following the girl into the building. Inside the building was a calm, that I didn't fully trust, and kind of made my walls come up.

"Night, I have some questions that I have to ask you before we get you your first Pokemon, if you will just come with me. Ame smiled weakly, opening the door to behind the desk, then she pulled me close.

"When we met you lied about what you were doing here. I found out who you really are Night. Your an FBI undercover sniper for hire by any regions police, based in the Gothiah region. You  know exactly what you are and what you do best. You specialize in messing up reality, and interrogation. We have a suspect, but he wont talk. Mind helping us out a bit?" Ame asked leading me down a set of stairs.

"You know me, you know my ways. If you agree, I require simply a Psychic type, with Psyshock, or i could do it the harder way, but it's more hands on."

Ame nodded as she lead me into the interrogation room.

"Night, take it away." Ame said and I nodded, looking at the cop.

"May I? If it would make you feel any better, leave the Torcoal." I nodded at the door.

"Impressive bomb work." I said with a nod. "Took out an arm, a leg a hand and a foot."

The goon paused as he looked up at me..

"Do I know you?"

"Probably." I nodded slamming a short dagger into the goons left hand.

"Gaaah! Were did you get that!" He gulped and I glared.

"Weak reality we live in. I just took it from my stash." I slammed another one in.

"Y-your that cop! from Gothia aren't you?" A third dagger. "I-I'm not talking!" A fourth. "Gyaaah! No you can't get anything from me." A fifth. "Sonofa bitch! What the hell are you doing?"

"An eye for an eye. In this case, a hand, arm, leg and foot for exactly that." I smirked, "Unless you wanna talk."

"Why would I talk?" A sixth. "You little crazy asshole!" Two in his right hand. "Look, I don't even know what you want!" Three."Look kid you kneed help!" Four. "W-what do you want?" Five. "H-Help!" Six.

"Should we stop her?"

"Let her keep going for a bit. You were going to burn him with Toarcoal."

"Tell me who id this to me and I will let you go!" I was too into it, I will admit to that. But no one was stopping me I didn't think they cared.

"Make her stop!" One in his arm. "Please!" Two. "I don't know!" Three. "Team Metier!" Four. "I told you!" Five. "Now stop!" Six, seven, eight. "P-p-p-please I don't know anything else." Daggers Nine to Twenty.

"Ame!"

"I know, I can see. I heard she could get out of hand. Just give her a bit longer. She might get better."

"Look kid, I will make sure they never touch you again" Twenty one to twenty five. "Just let me go!" Twenty five to forty seven. "K-kid. Look. Please." Six in his left foot. "I don't know the guys name."Six to his right."Little girl!" After I added forty seven to his left leg in a blind rage, Ame dragged me out, saying something about a support Pokemon, and medication. Leading me back to the main office, she quickly made a call.

"What Pokemon do you want to start with?" Ame asked turning to me.

"Chimchar." I smiled.

After a bit of a wait, she handed me a Pokeball.  Sending the Pokemon out I smiled at the small ape.

"Hello, I'm Night." I smiled, gasping as it responded.

"Likewise, my name is Ashen." She smiled up at me.

"Alright, here is your Pokedex, and some pokeballs. I will be sending you a number to call, call it. They will tell me if you have or not."

"Fine." I muttered and Ashen chuckled.

"Hey, who's this cutie?" A young boy with purple spiked hair asked walking up to me.

"My name is Night, and this is Ashen." I sighed lightly, with a small shake of my head. "You?"

"I'm Cain, it's nice to meet you Night."

"Let's have a battle." I smiled and Cain nodded. "Test our Pokemon out."

After a battle, that I eventually won, me and Cain healed our Pokemon.

"Cute and talented?"

"Your not so bad yourself." With that I walked out of the center, and into the Ward. After a bit of exploring I stumbled appon a young girl and a tired looking Kricitott.

"She's sick, I don't know what to do." The kid with is admitted, and I nodded as a young girl walked in.

"Um. I'm Shelly. I was called about a sick looking Kricitott." Shelly was shy, and delicate.

"Over here. It just looks lonely to me, but I'm no bug expert." I nodded and let her at the Pokemon. "I had a Staraptor who became very deppresed, as it couldn't fly around too much. I let Falkner take care of her."

"That's actually exactly what this Pokemon needs. A trainer who knows how to handle a situation like this without panicking." Shelly seemed impressed. "What's your name?"

"I'm Night." I nodded. "Are you the second gym leader of this region?"

"Depends on how you look at it." Shelly nodded." But no not second."

"Night, take care of Kricitott ok?" With that the girl ran away, up into a room.

"What are you going to name her?" Shelly asked and I nodded.

"Shelly." I smiled and she nodded.

"There is no knead to name a Pokemon after me."

"I wanted to. Now you should head back to your gym, and I should get to training." I smiled then walked out of the apartment.

Deciding to look for more Pokemon I continued up the track, battling trainers along the way.

After some random training, I found a man who was selling Pokemon food, and decided to stock up on it, feeding one bad to Ashen and Shelly as we walked.

"So Night. I was just wondering. You know I'm a special Pokemon, one for special needs trainers. But you seem completely fine, other than a limp. Why do you kneed me?" Ashen asked gently and I shook my head.

"Dose it matter? I needed a talking monkey ALRIGHT?" I snapped and Shelly let out a small whimper. "Sorry Shelly. I didn't meant to scare you. I just really don't want to talk about it."

"It's fine Night. I understand." Ashen smiled, gently soothing Shelly.

After a bit more training, something amazing happened. Shelly, having just reached level ten, evolved into Kricitune.

"Now let's get more team members." I smiled and ran off, Ashen and Shelly running after me. After entering another apartment I found a very hyper Wingul flying around.  It quickly flew towards me and took a bag of Pokemon food. After a quick battle between it and Shelly  I caught it and named it Sail. Sending her out I smiled. "Just stay with us alright." With that I ran off again.

After impulsively giving a homeless man one hundred and fifty dollars, I ran past him into an abandoned house with an Espurr in it. It seemed scared so I gave it some food, and it joined my team, I named it Phoenix Cat.

"Alright  Just two more spots on this team." I smiled sending out Phoenix cat. Out of curtsy, Shelly cried her as I dashed off again. It wasn't long before I found them. Three boys trying to throw a Pachirisu off of the bridge.

"Hey ass hole! Move" I snapped at the first one who simply sent out a Pokemon. Easily beating him I shoved him aside, almost over the rail.

"What do you want?" One of the others demanded. I easily lay waist to them as well.

"You know how to swim?" It took all of my Pokemon and the cries of the Pachirisu to stop me from throwing him off the bridge. I simply punched him out.

"Hey kid, you want to join the team?" Ashen asked and the Pahirisu nodded.

"Alight, your name is Tony Stark." I said with a smile as Tony jumped onto Sail's back. "Now lets find our last team member, train and destroy Julia that overly prepy, too happy to be an electric gym leader of a bi..." I was stopped by Ashen placing a hand over my mouth . "You have a younger Mon now, act like it." He hissed and I sighed. "Fine." Then I continued on running.

"Night, is there a possibility that you have an actually disorder?" Ashen asked and  huffed.

"I don't know, I have always been like this."

"Is she always this hyper?" This made me stop.

"Did, Tony just talk?"

"We all can talk, just didn't know you could understand us." Shelly admitted and I smiled.

"Cool."  Then I continued running. After a bit I ran into a Teddiursa. It ran away, and I chased it. On the way I ran into a hungry Whismur that attacked me. I caught it and named it Jet. Then I went to the Pokemon center, and without  a second thought, placed Sail in the Pc. Then I continued my search battling a girl with a Togipi who's metronome turned into fusion flair, and catching a Pansear, who was searching protection from the rain named Chili. After a bit more training, I decided to take on Julia.

"Hello stranger, can I interest you in an old rod?" A man asked as i ran into his house in my search. "Thank you sir." I smiled and left with the rod.

Dear Diary,

Today was much better I fund a pool and a guarded, sanctuaries for Pokemon I suppose. Both  of them required a battle to access, and I beat both men with little problem. After a bit of training, Ashen evolved into Monferno. After a long day of training  decided to look for the gym leader again. After checking the gym, I paused. I had passed two factories and the note on the door just simply said the Factorie. With a sigh I decided to check them both.
