Lady Luck wasn't kind to me at ALL this triples battle. Noel prepared a team full of Trick Room, and I lost quickly. I did manage to get an angry KO on Porygon2, who used Trick Room, but Exploud carefully picked off everyone on the bench from the far side. Next time, I'll leave that dirty business to Mr. Utility, Mamoswine, and his Ice Shards. I might consider using JSC-Night Slash instead if I have more Pokemon available when Golurk arrives. Using Tentacruel before the end is a good idea. Probably against Chandelure. That way Toxic Spikes is more useful and Chandelure won't do as much damage unless it magically knows Earthquake. Mamoswine and Salamence...the pain they have wrought together in Doubles is inmeasurable. I took a gamble reordering my team to start with those two and JSC, preparing for the same team before that I had lost so badly to. It was kind of the same team...just not Triples. Next time I'll hold off using Jolteon and Salamence early, maybe throw Jolteon in later for the element of surprise and ambush since Electric attacks aren't the only thing it can do well. I'll keep Espeon in while Mamoswine Stone Edges something, probably Rotom with the help of Espeon's Hidden Power, with JSC working on the side. My favorite Ghost-type Pokemon, Spiritomb, made an appearance. Basically it was all about the switch game and Shade dropping Will-o-Wisps like they're hot (which they are). Post-mortem: I gotta remember that Electivire loves Rock Slide and Raichu loves Fake Out. That said, I do have an idea: Mamoswine on the left, Salamence in the middle, and Jolteon on the right. Jolteon uses Magnet Rise to survive the two potential Earthquakes, one of them being stopped based on who Sigmund feels is the greater threat. Electivire will deal some serious damage to Jolteon, but Discharge will heal it. I'm also going to start experimenting with items for this leader as well. Open to suggestions if you really want. I got some kind donations from JellyMan in preparation from Shade. cuz...you know...#yolo. $R much appreciated nonetheless. It gave me enough to fulfill my evil ambitions! become an Ace Member, which I said I was interested in doing for the hell of it. Anyway, onto the battle, where I discovered the value of Toxic Spikes. Keeping my word that Tentacruel would see action earlier, the use of Toxic Spikes, with the knowledge that there are no Ghost-type spinners, and that the only Ghost-Poison pokemon all levitate, it completely turned the battle in my favor and won me a match even through a late-game scare. Basically how it went was: - Salamence went out first vs. Sableye - Due to a Lum Berry, it took two Will-O-Wisps to burn Salamence - Tried to take out Sableye through a burn but failed - Switched to Tentacruel while Sableye recovered - The ensuing switch to Gengar allowed me to place Toxic Spikes <= Critical turning point! - Gengar puts Tentacruel to sleep, forcing a switch to Espeon who dies from the ensuing Shadow Ball - JSC chases Gengar in favor of Sableye, who gets hit with a hefty Night Slash - Will-O-Wisp from Sableye is wiped out by a Lum Berry and it dies to Megahorn - Dusknoir misses twice with Will-O-Wisp, takes two Night Slashes and dies from Toxic Spikes-induced poison - Golurk Rock Polishes, hits JSC with DynamicPunch and takes a Night Slash - Another DynamicPunch to JSC, another Night Slash to Golurk and it dies from poison the next turn while JSC beats himself to death - Jolteon goes out against Jellicent, hits it with Thunderbolt, and Jellicent dies from poison at the end of the turn - Chandelure takes a Ghost Gem-boosted Shadow Ball and dies from the poison as well - I send out the sleeping Tentacruel against Gengar and let Gengar beat it to death with Shadow Ball, sent out Salamence and Gengar KO's him with another Shadow Ball - Jolteon returns and takes out Gengar with a critical hit from Shadow Ball Such a satisfying finish. I lost, but aside from that I did better than I thought I would. She led with Bisharp, which brought about my downfall with Stealth Rock (which I eventually forgot about until my last Pokemon), while I led with Espeon. I set up Reflect and passed to Heracross and through a multitude of things managed to get through that, Sableye and something else (I don't remember what) quickly using it and Jolteon. However, next came the Pokemon which seems to be the bane of my existence: Umbreon. Using a CurseRay set and pummeling away with Payback, my team was done before long. It in the end came down to Tentacruel, who tried to Scald Umbreon, and got burned by Umbreon's ability. Umbreon then survived with Wish, while Tentacruel bowed out, and Salamence was too damaged from Stealth Rock to survive two paybacks.
