RhythmMelody
Introduction: Hello there, you gorgeous looking cutiepie Welcome, welcome. Nice that you have found your way here. First let me introduce myself. I am the overlord, almighty god of Pokemon, destroyer of worlds and conquerer of hearts and lady bedrooms likewise. Or I am just a pretty bored guy with access to internet. Anyway, I prefer the overlord. A bored overlord, granted. This boredom got me tell myself "Rhythm, why don't you show all these scrubs and fans of yours, just how awesome you are and that you are way cooler and swagier than Fern ever could hope to be." and then I answered "You are so right, Rhythm. You awesome genius of a hot guy." Thats when me, myself and I decided to not only try a mono-run in Reborn, but also do a little bit of extra work and share my awesomness with you all. So I created myself an account for youtube, downloaded the first free (and crappy) desktop screen recorder I could find and then I was all set already. "Ready, set and go!" One could think, but first I had to decide for type that I would do my mono-run with. Personally my favorite type is water, but I thought that this might be too basic. Other types that I thought about like steel, dark or ground were already pretty often seen as far as I heard. There are quite some nice active mono runs too, so of course I did not even think about using those for my run. Afterall I could never use the same type as some scrubs around here. Thats when stumbled upon a really flashy and shiny and greaty monorun with the type flying. Shot out @Awesome_One and his Tyler Breeze. I seriously like his idea and approach with his elegent birds. That got me thinking. Even though Pidgeot and Articuno were in my main team years ago when I played the 2. Gen, I was never to fond of the flying type. I always thought of him as plain, as boring and specially as weak, since I always prefered to use steel and rock type Pokemon. But now that I am older I grew, I got more handsome and totally cool, which is why I will take the flying type and let him shine under my wing. You got that one? "under my wing", because birds are flying type and such. God, I'm just to damn funny. Anyway, that is how I decided to do a flying mono run. Now, maybe you noticed that I kind of contradicted myself. I said I don't want to use the same type as other people and then I went off and took the same type as Awesome_One. You are quite right, this is a prime example of my contradicting myself. But it's okay and I will explain to you why. First of all is Tyler great and sparkling enough to stand beside me, but seconldy and more important is, that I don't plan to concentrate my monorun on my own character or story telling. To be honest, I would do that, if I were able to freely create charakter but since I am stuck with predetermined looks for my character, I don't feel like doing that. This brings us the more or less important thing here, what you shall be rewarded with, if you decide to read all the bullshit I will write here. As I said you won't be getting much story telling or character-creation or RPG here, you will be able to bath yourself under my shining brilliance, admire my glorious me and screem your love out to me. On a more serious note, I hope to provide you with tons of random babbling, jokes, sarcasm and irony and plain stupidity, so that I may be able to cheer you up and give a you good time. That is pretty much it, I'm doing this more or less for myself, so that you guys can give me feedback on my playstyle, on my awesomnes and on my jokes and overall narrating. Also be warned, I won't take responsibility for intelligence you lose reading my crap. As for the layout, I wont create a fancy thread and keep it plain and basic. I will, however, have my current team always displayed at the first post (this one here, look at the bottom). At the start of every "chapter" from my mono run I will have a list of the Pokemon that I started the chapter with. If there are any changes of my team within a chapter, I will put these changes into a spoiler between the fight the changes happened in between. The list of Pokemon will consist of a little sprite of said Pokemon, the current nick name, gender, leve, nature, ability, carried item and the moveset of said Pokemon. Also I'll give a little notice, if the Pokemon is shiny. Thank you for reading, please gimme a comment and don't take anything I'll write to seriously. Oh btw, I'm no native english speaker so please have mercy with my writing. Thanks to @Jess whose ugly, uncool and totally unaestethic layout I borrowed from her posion mono run One last thing beforehand. As I wrote I just grabbed the first free desktop recorder that I could find, which is why I am limited to 5min videos. This why the battles in my videos might be rather fast in the late game, I don't know actually, till I am not there yet. But there won't be any battle animation and I'll be playing on speed mode. If this results in my videos being rather unpleasent to read, please give me a notice and I'll try to change that. Now please enjoy my mono run. Kisses, Cookies, Greetings ~ Rhythm Rules: » Mono-Run: All Pokemon (or the last evolution) must have flying-type as first or second typing » Battle-Style: Set » Battle-Heal-Items: No item usage (besides carried items) Those are pretty much the basic rules I set myself for this run. The first rule is self explanatory since this is a flying type mono run. The second rule means there won't be any switching, if my oppenent sends out a new pokemon after I defeated one of his. The third rule just means, that I won't be allowed to use items in my battles. Only the items my pokemon carry are allowed. That's pretty much it. I don't really list it as a rule, but I won't resort to wondertrade and only use Pokemon, that I can find naturally. The only exception is Togepi, which I got thanks to @Pμrple. He traded me a Togetic and I breed myself a Togepi, after I got no Togepi out of the mystery egg. RhythmMelody
Chapter I: Anything up to 2. Gym Yup, you read that right. My first chapter is about anything between me starting my mono run and me defeating Florinia. The reason is pretty simple, pretty strong and actually rather boring and looking back I don't know why bothered to even take videos of the fights. The reason why this chapter is rather fast and won't be pretty interesting is called Dragon Rage. But more to that later. When I started the game I had to pick an avatar. Let me tell you about a thing about that, because otherwise this chapter would be kinda too short. I'm a guy. And a pretty simple guy at that too. And as almost all simple guys I like boobs and thats why I picked Alice as avatar. Actually its just that I don't like the looks of any of the standard avatars but her, so I always take her as avatar but that I won't tell you. Ups. Anyway, back to the chapter. Since I'm doing a flying mono run I didn't have much choice but to take charmander as my starter, since it's the only starter Pokemon, that evolves into flying type. Hölzchen ♀, Charmander Lv. 5 Modest/Blaze/None Scratch Growl My first to battles were won easy. Thanks to a normal gem I defeated Cains Nidoran ♂ without any problems and Victoria was no challenge either then. Thats pretty much it for now, since I only started to run around. I got myself a small pick up team consisting of 3 Meowth and 1 Zigzaggon. One Meowth was even nice enough to bring a Quick Claw with it. I proceeded to battle my way to Fern. Vs. Fern [Pre-Factory] Spoiler I don't think I have much to say about that fight. When you have whooped Ferns ass the first trainer shows up in the Grand Hall. I used those trainer to grind myself a Bibarel with Headbutt. The reason is pretty simple, I wanted get a Combee. And bloddy hell I did get Combees. I continued to bash Bibarels stupid head for over 90min against those stupid trees in front of the stupid Grand Hall to get a stupid Combee of the stupid female gender. After lots of headbutting, way too much male Combee and propably multiple concussion for Bibarel I finally got one. My Charmander became a Charmeleon Lv. 19 while grinding for Combee. Königin ♀, Combee Lv. 9 Careful/Honey Gatherer/None Sweet Scent Gust Now that I got my team together, I marched in the factory to sweep some scrubs with Fern. Everytime we walk into the factory I'm surprised that Fern doesn't care at all about the toxic water. As a trainer of grass pokemon I always thought he would be kinda more... ecofriendly. Guess that didn't go too well with his King of Arse-kind of charakter. He's a fucktard, but I was able to use him to train my Combee a bit, so I guess I can tolerate him. Though I'm still pissed that he takes the explosives and does not let me carry them. I wann make BOOM too! Vs. Aster & Eclipse [Factory] Spoiler The fight vs Aster & Eclipse isn't the most exciting one, but the most exciting thing I do till I go against Julia. After destroying the factory I clean up the guys whining about Julias awesome management of the gym and go back to grinding. What am I grinding? My Combee until it evolves into a Vespiqen at Lv. 21 and then up to Lv. 25, so that it learns Power Gem. The idea behind that was, that Vespiqen could take on Julias Emolge this way. Well, waste of time it was. Because Charmeleon had a little dragon fit and yeah... Julia didn't manage to put up any resistance. (advice to anyone that seeks a challenge: do not - I repeat - DO NOT take Charmander as your starter and under no circumstances let it learn Dragon Rage. That move is broken.) To shorten the story. 7 times Dragon Rage and the badge was mine. I seriously don't know, why I made a video. Vs. Julia [1. Gym] Spoiler Up till now the boss fights weren't any interesting thanks to Charmeleons Dragon Rage and I promise you, it won't get any more interesting than that. Seriously, dunno who was the genius that thought it was a good idea to give a LV. 17 Pokemon a move that deals 40 HP flat dmg. Thats the same dmg a Lv. 40 Pokemon would deal with Night Shade... stupid stupid stupid. Just as stupid as Victoria I'd say, looking at the fact that she doesn't manage to get a single badge in her life. And you are called the best student of Apophyll?! Anyway, time to go rescue the next part of the town. But first, let me spank Victoria once for thinking she had the right to worry about me, the overlord, the master of all Pokemon etc. bla bla. Btw I just noticed I forgot to make a video of that fight. Uhhh... I guess it went kinda like this: Dragon Rage. Dragon Rage. Dragon Rage. Dragon Rage. Dragon Rage. Dragon Rage. Rhythm won. Now that Victoria is out of my way, I finally can get a Hoppip. Pustekuchen ♀, Hoppip Lv. 13 Lonely/Leaf Guard/None Tackle Fairy Wind Poision Powder Grassy Terrain With Hoppip I run back to the Grand Hall and grind up to Lv. 18, so that I can do at least a bit of anything in the slums. Which reminds me that I still have to visit the alley before the slums. The slums are dirty and narrowly. They are no place for my flying Pokemon, which is why we Dragon Rage the Scrafty and his Scraggys into oblivion and proceed to head down to the coral ward. There we make acquaintance with the talented and beautiful Amaria - to bad she's lesbian - and meet again the equally talented and beautiful Cain, the purple child of lewd comments. I LUV YA CAIN! Sadly we have to engage him and not in the kind of way he would have prefered of course. Vs. Cain [Coral Ward] Spoiler Once again we can witness the power of the almighty Dragon Rage, the move that makes any Pokemon falter and cover in fear. With Cain beaten Amaria gazes in awe at me and my talent and I just remembered I'm playing a female character. Better take care of your girl Titania, I'm coming. Anyway, even though I'm coming, Amaria is going which makes this romance quite one sided. Of course I run after her. For whatever reason I am handed the HM Cut. I don't really understand why Amaria and Florinia want me to cut down the tree, but I don't mind. I cut, they go and shortly afterwards we can hear them screaming. Two beautiful girls and a ton of tentacles? Oh boy I've seen enough hentai to know where this is heading too. Which is why I'm going to rescue the damsels in distress and who wants to guess? You are right, Dragon Rage takes the Pulse Tangrowth and reduces it to ashes. Vs. ZEL [Pulse Tangrowth #1] Spoiler Now I can finally enter whatever it's called area, that seems to consist mostly out of training area and the bedroom of our favorite female gym leaders. Considering the reputation of the school one would have guessed, that they don't have the capacity to leave empty rooms. But yeah, after rolling myself in the bed of Julia and Amaria I proceed to once again put my foot up Fern's a**. Is anyone else noticing, that I'm quite vulgar atm? I'm afraid of myself. Hopefully I don't stretch things to far and get a warning Well, back to our favorite Swag Jockey Fern. Btw don't mind my usage of Meowth in the fight. I wanted to juggle around a bit of Exp to my pick up team. Vs. Fern [2. Gym] Spoiler It happenend absolutly nothing between the fight with Fern and his big sis and I seriously don't want to think something to talk about to fill the gap so.... here's the next fight: Vs. Florinia [2. Gym] Spoiler It wasn't exactly a difficult fight, considering that I could have gotten myself quite some other flying types. Anyone wondering why I'm not using Fearrow or Swanna or anything else I could get up to this point? Well, the reason is quite simple. Don' wanna. That's pretty much the explanation for almost anything that I could do, but don't do. Like giving a fuck that Fern thinks he's better than me. Oh Hardy, I feel you for having to stick around this guy for years in trainer school! At the moment I don't feel Hardy at all though which might have something to do with the fact, that I don't know him yet. RhythmMelody
@Awesome_One Yes there is. Actually there are... duh.. I think it must be 13 trainers or so? There are 1-3 trainers there, depending on the day of the week. They start with mons lvl 10 when you win against Fern before the factory and scale depending on your badges. For example winning vs Corey means they have Pokemons around Lv.

RhythmMelody
Chapter II: Prepare for Trouble, Tangrowth double God damn, my rhymes are lit and totally not stolen anywhere. At the end of Chapter I I just finished up with Florinia and as we all know, that means it's time to leave the school and go out and explore the big world. Thats why I'm running as fast as my legs can carry me up to the Lapis Ward, because rumours say that even more tentacle hent... plants are destroying the town. Because fuck logic and kids rule the world even the police asks us for help and as law abiding citizen, I'll pledge to rescue any member of the police that I can find. Duh, really useless guys, if I might say. No surprise that Team Meteor can do whatever the fuck they want. A bit of lurking through the jungle and soon we approach the second pulse machine already. Rumble in the Jungle: vs Taka [Pulse Tangrowth #2] Spoiler Strangely, our oppenent doesn't seem to hyped to fight us and even more strange, he doesn't seem to care at all about loosing. Chillexed kind of guy, doesn't even care that his plants-go-crazy-doom-machine gets turned off. Btw don't you guys think it is kind of strange, that the pulse machines make a tangrowth strong enough to destroy a city, but an oversized bug and an electric supersquirrel can still whoop its ass? Yeah, I don't understand that either. Anyway, because my avatar is so super sexy and seducive Taka falls for my charm and tells me anything I want to know - or not. If I don't know about another Pulse machine nobody could be angry that I didn't destroy after all. But yeah, can't help it now. I gotta go destroy another machine. We are on our way and encounter a pink ball of furry, rambling on about how evil her father is and such and yeah... Gurl you got sum problems. Rest that chest, hakuna your tatas, calm your tits and stop talking. I don't even now you, why should I care about your daddy-issues? As soon as we met Heather she flys away on a Salamance (tell me where you got that!) and we can continue. We quickly rescue our first policeman and a girl trapped in her appartement, then we procide to the Beryl Ward. There we find an emolga sleeping on the ground evil as we are, we attacke the small thing in capture it. Please welcome Potzblitz with me. Potzblitz ♂, Emolga Lv. 20 (shiny) Impish/Motor Drive/Cheri Beri Double Team Pursuit Nuzzle Roost Because I care less about the Pulse as about Stickers, I'll take my way to the right over this awesome bridge and rescue a little boy from a driftloon. Driftloon is quite the funny Pokemon actually, that carries children away. And it dislikes fat kids. Yo' hear dat kiddies? Eat dat cake and drink dat soda and no driftloon can carry your fatass away! Fat people are harder to kidnap. Anyway, the driftloon is not enough and we gotta save Kiddo again. This time from a scolipede and his crew. Because I was bored I took a video from that fight too. Here you go. vs Scolipede Crew [2. Sticker] Spoiler Seriously, I rescue so many people they should call me Superman. Or Supergirl. Isn't it kinda sexist that Superman is called a MAN and Supergirl is just a GIRL? Aren't there any Superwoman around? I could have used one to rescue me out of that cage. Sadly all I got was Fern and now I wasn't only trapped in cage made by nuzleaf, now I wanted to kill myself too! Actually I wanted to kill Fern, but since I was caged there was nothing else I could do but to kill myself. That isn't 100% correct either. I had the option to run in a circle and pretend I'm a delibird but that didn't seem to helpful at that moment, which is why I neither killed myself nor Fern nor did I imitate a delibird. The result was pleasent, as Fern fucked off and and a cute little chatot rescued us, enabling us to rescue even more policemen and a library. Because I'm not too full of myself I grind my Pokemon a bit, before I go to take on the last Pulse. Rumble in the Jungle: vs Taka & ZEL [Pulse Tangrowth #3] Spoiler This fight wasn't that easy at first. I still tried to Dragon Rage my way through the enemy at first and failed miserably. And the non stop confusion turned soon into a pain in the ass, as the fight became kind of a game of luck for me. Luckily I got sunny weather, which enabled my Charmeleon to deal nice damage with Flame Burst. While I fought Taka and ZEL (that means it was 1 vs 4!) Heather fought with the boss of the group of Meteors and one could wonder, how on earth that girl didn't recognize her own father or his pokemon. Welp, the way Heather talks she doesn't seem that bright to begin with. Thanks to me doing my job - unlike other people - the police ambushes the Meteor guy and OMG it is Heather dad Corey. What an unexpected turn of events and who could have guessed it, Heather flys away on her salamance. Seriously girl, stop for a minute and tell me where you got it! Corey starts talking about how unfair the world is and that he will be next Hokage and BUNSHIN NO DISSAPEARING NO JUTSU just vanishes. Great job Mr. Policeofficier Sir. 5 on 1 and you still let him escape. Genius guys. Anyway. I still haven't uploaded the next pack of fights, so I'll end Chapter II at this point. Thanks for reading, if anybody even read that here Team: End of Chapter II Streichhölzchen ♀, Charmeleon Lv. 32 Modest/Blaze/Quick Claw Flame Burst Facade Dragon Rage Fire Fang Königin ♀, Vespiqen Lv. 27 Careful/Pressure/None Bug Bite Facade Gust Power Gem Pustekuchen ♀, Skiploom Lv. 26 Lonely/Leaf Guard/None Bullet Seed Sleep Powder Facade Leech Seed Potzblitz ♂, Emolga Lv. 30 (shiny) Impish/Motor Drive/None Acrobatics Nuzzle Electro Ball Roost Kisses, Cookies, Greetings ~ Rhythm
RhythmMelody
Chapter III: From Toxic Clouds To Crawling Bugs Welcome back for the third chapter of my flying mono run. Today I uploaded the next batch of videos, so I can show them to you and finally the fights start to get more interesting I'd say. So let's get going. Before I even tried to go against Corey and his arsenal of poison Pokemon, I trained my team and got myself a little helping hand in the form of doduo which I could get right on the left to Coreys Gym. With my doduo caught I started to kill tons of Fearows until doduo and skiploom evolved. With this done I proceeded to throw myself at Corey. Die ??? ♀, Doduo Lv. 25 Sassy/Run Away/None Double Hit Pluck Pursuit Furry Attack I won't comment on Coreys logic that I am the reason his life is in shambles or the fact, that the only thing he cares about his daughter is the fact, that she reminds him of his wife. Anyway, at least we now know why Heather is such a fuck up kid. Now to the fight against Corey. As you know, depending on the amount of policemen you rescued, Coreys uses a different field for the battle. Corrosive Field or Corrosive Mist Field. If you found all policemen, you will battle on the Mist Field, otherwise the normal Corrosive Field. I rescued/found all policemen, which is why the fight vs Corey will be held on the Corrosive Mist Field. And now I want to give you guys a quick explanation why I prefer to fight on the Corrosive Mist Field and my favorite tactic against Corey. The Corrosive Mist Field has the feature of poisoning every pokemon that is not immune to poison at the end of each turn. This could be pretty annoying, but actually it is a really great help! Because in the Onyx Aracade you can get the TM Facade, a physical contact normal type move with a base power of 70 which can be learned by almost any Pokemon. Doesn't sound great? Well, it certainly is great, because if your Pokemon has any status (sleep, paralize, burn, poison) the base power is DOUBLED! This means you have a 140BP move, 210BP with STAB on a normal Pokemon. There are some Pokemon that I recommend specially against Coreys Gym with Facade. Dodrio, Ursaring and Hariyama. Dodrio is really nice because it has awesome attack and speed stat and has STAB on Facade. It can easily sweep a great deal of Coreys Pokemon. Hariyama is a beast everywhere in Reborn, but specially vs Corey it's great. It doesn't get STAB on Facade, but it has the abililty Guts, which gives it a 50% increase in attack if statused. Ursaring has a great attack stat, it has STAB on Facade and it has the abilitys guts and quick feet, which either increase its attack or speed by 50% if statused. vs Corey Spoiler As you can see the crit by Crobat was kind of unlucky for me, but it turned out in my win. Still, I have to admit that I kind of fucked up here and there through out the fight, it could have been easier than it actually was. To be honest I don't really get why Corey now goes off and takes a jump, but I can't stop him anyway and time to mourn I do not have, because all my energy goes into stoping myself from throwing Fern right behind Corey down the bridge. Anyway, it's time to head to the next ward. But first, there is something I gotta do. It is called Mystery Egg and sadly I dont get togepi, but a sneasel. I don't want to wait till after the game for togepi, which is why I asked for some help. Thanks @Pμrple for trading me a togetic, so I can breed myself a togepi. Frühstücksei ♀, Togepi Lv. 1 Modest/Serene Grace/None Growl Charm Metrenom With the help of a soothe bell and the trainer in the Grand Hall I rather quickly get my togepi into its mid 20's and thanks to awesome care by the salons, it evolves into togetic. Which is why I now am off to rescue Victoria. vs Aster & Ecplipse [Stairway] Spoiler As you can see I sacrificed my jumpluff. This is so that my togetic gets some more exp and because it was Lv. 35 anyway and I didn't want it to overlevel. This made the fight harder though and my missplays with dodrio weren't any helpful either. But Victoria was helpful and together we are victorious. Back in the gym I'm send off to seek help for shelly in the local orphanage. I don't really consider John to be an important boss battle, but since he's using electro types and I'm a flying type user, I still wanted to show you guys. vs Orderly John [Orphanage] Spoiler It wasn't a hard fight, I didn't even had to resort to charmeleon, though I do admit it took a two tries to get togetic to win vs magnemite. With Annas words of wisdom in my pocket I go back to shelly and get her to fight again. Before that though, I'll once again have to deal with Victoria. vs Victoria [pre-Shelly] Spoiler Once again a rather easy win against my rival and I'm pretty sure, I won't every find myself in trouble when facing Victoria. Flying types ftw! ~ The next fight should have been easy and it was SUPER ANNOYING. Seriously, it took me at least 5-6 tries to somehow manage Shelly. The reason was, that she always used Rain Dance in her first turn and afterwards her annoyrith sweeped through half my team with Rock Slide and I couldn't outspeed him thanks to his Rain Dance boosted speed. vs Shelly [3. Gym] Spoiler After Shelly I went off and started a gang war. Since I prefer the Team Magma anyway and Team Aqua uses Ice attacks which are strong vs flying types, I joined Team Magma and now I attacke Team Aquas HQ. Honestly, it was a shitty idea and Archer whooped my ass more often than I want to admit, until I finally lucked out against his shark. vs Archer [Team Aqua Base] Spoiler Afterwards I went to the Grand Hall and honestly I did not want to waste time with Fern, which is why I simply swept him with charizard. vs Fern [Grand Hall] Spoiler Thats it for this chapter, I'll cya next time ~ Team: End of Chapter III Streichhölzchen ♀, Charizard Lv. 36 Modest/Blaze/None Flame Burst Wing Attack Dragon Rage Fire Pledge Königin ♀, Vespiqen Lv. 35 Careful/Pressure/Quick Claw Struggle Bug Power Gem Facade Heal Order Pustekuchen ♀, Jumpluff Lv. 36 Lonely/Leaf Guard/None Bullet Seed Acrobatics Facade Leech Seed Potzblitz ♂, Emolga Lv. 34 (shiny) Impish/Motor Drive/None Acrobatics Nuzzle Electro Ball Roost Die ??? ♀, Dodrio Lv. 36 Sassy/Run Away/None Pluck Pursuit Facade Accupressure Frühstücksei ♀, Togetic Lv. 32 Modest/Serene Grace/None Round Yawn Facade Wish Kisses, Cookies, Greetings ~ Rhythm Edited July 22, 2017 by RhythmMelody
RhythmMelody
Chapter IV: Child Support Okidoki and here we go. This chapter will be about the rescue of the children. It starts after we beat Fern and go off to search for Cain and it will end with us giving Sigmund a run for his money. This means quite a lot of big fights, which is why I'll keep my naration and commenting to a minimum. vs Cain [Graveyard] Spoiler vs Shade [4. Gym] Spoiler Surprisingly it was easier than I expected. Though it only was after I figured out to do the switch at the beginning, so that emolga gets a Motor Drive speed boost. This way it could outspeed gengar. vs ZEL [Pulse Muk] Spoiler First time this stupid puddle of cum sweeped my team with discharge. vs Cal [Pyro Mountain] Spoiler I'll be honest, I don't think the fight would have been this smooth if the weather were anything else but rain, since I don't have any useful rock or ground attacks. vs Victoria [Pre-Kiki] Spoiler Once again Victoria doesn't live up to he name. vs Kiki [Apophyll] Spoiler In my first try Lucario set up a Calm Mind and finished me off. Otherwise no challenge. vs Aster & Eclipse [Azurine Island] Spoiler vs Taka [Azurine Island] Spoiler vs Cain [Pre-Wasteland] Spoiler vs Fern [Pre-Aya] Spoiler Easy as fuck. Dunno why this shithead still thinks he's a big shot. Rock on, Hardy! vs Aya [5. Gym] Spoiler It was a pretty fun fight, mainly thanks to the fact that Nidoqueen only using Spikes, which are useless vs flying types. vs Sigmund [Yureyu] Spoiler As one could have guessed the fight vs. Sigmund was a real pain in the ass for my flying type team and in the end it was all thanks too Cain, that we even won the fight. I dislike winning like that, but it was my 10th attempt already so I gave myself a bit of leeway Team: End of Chapter IV Hölzchen ♀, Charizard Lv. 47 Modest/Blaze/None Flamethrower Wing Attack Dragon Rage Fire Pledge Königin ♀, Vespiqen Lv. 45 Careful/Pressure/Insect Plate Attack Order Power Gem Air Slash Heal Order Pustekuchen ♀, Jumpluff Lv. 44 Lonely/Leaf Guard/None Bullet Seed Acrobatics Facade Leech Seed Potzblitz ♂, Emolga Lv. 49 (shiny) Impish/Motor Drive/None Acrobatics Nuzzle Volt Switch Roost Die ??? ♀, Dodrio Lv. 49 Sassy/Run Away/Sky Plate Drill Peck Pursuit Facade Accupressure Frühstücksei ♀, Togekiss Lv. 46 Modest/Serene Grace/Quick Claw Round Yawn Facade Wish Kisses, Cookies, Greetings ~ Rhythm
RhythmMelody
Chapter V: Mountain Raid The newest chapter took a bit. The reason for this was a lot of grinding and a lot of breeding, as I changed my team a bit. Charizard, Vespiqen, Jumpluff and Dodrio were changed, after I managed to reach Spinel Town. My first plan was use a special Swellow with Boom Burst, which is why I decided to give my team more physical power by breeding a Charmander with Dragon Dance for a physical Charizard. Though I dropped the idea of a special Swellow, I still decided to use a physical DD-Charizard instead of a special one. Noibat got his place in the steam for awesome stats and even though it has a x4 ice weakness (remember Sera is next), it still deserves it place in my team for this arena thanks to Boom Burst, which will terminate the field for me. I also breed a new Togepi with better IV, which will take the place of my current Togekiss as soon as I find the next shiny stone. Brand ♂, Charmander Lv. 1 Adamant/Solar Power/None Scratch Growl Dragon Dance Lautsprecher ♀, Noibat Lv. 1 Modest/Infiltrator/None Screech Supersonic Tackle Uralt ♂, Archen Lv. 1 Adamant/Defeatist/None Quick Attack Leer Wing Attack Schauspiel ♂, TaillowLv. 1 Adamant/Scrappy/None Peck Growl vs Bennett [Pre-Serra] I don't really have anything to say. Bugs are nothing more than bird food ~ Spoiler vs Serra [6. Gym] Spoiler Puh, this one sure wasn't fun. More or less any of her pokemon could outspeed almost any of mine, he Frost Breath always crits and is x2 vs my birds or even x4. Thanks to myself for breeding a DD Charizard. vs Sirius [Tanzan Cove] Spoiler vs Giant Steelix At first I thought it might be a problem, but an 36hp Endeavor + Togekiss Aura Sphere did a quick job. Spoiler vs Pulse Abra Nothing to say. It was a 1-hit K.O. Spoiler vs Noel [7. Gym] Actually in the beginn I intended to sweep Noels Team with Charizard but yeah, still worked out. Spoiler vs Fern [Route 1] Spoiler vs Cain [Vanhanen Castle] Nidoking swept me pretty hard at first. First try where it didn't fuck me up. Spoiler I didn't manage to put dent into Arceus-Ditto yet, which is why I'm gonna end this chaptere here. If anyone has tips, I'd love to hear them. RhythmMelody
Well, little update ~ I managed to take care of that annoying Arceus but now I'm in front of the most annoying gym in Reborn for my flying run. Radomus combination of Trick Room and Physic, which gets Rock-typing is more or less the worst combination I could hope to go against I'm currently trying to figure out, how to deal with that. RhythmMelody
Chapter VI: Mind Games A short chapter and it is kinda embarrassing it took me that long to manage my fights with Arceus and Radomus. But in the end I did it and after I knew how to do it, it wasn't even that hard. vs El [Arceus] At first I didn't manage to beat Arceus, since he could oneshot almost any of my mons and outspeed most of them too. I got myself an Altaria, so I could take it down with Perish Song. In a try fight vs Arceus I noticed that Noivern doesn't get oneshot, so I got him Tailwind and Screech again, this way being able to kill Arceus without the help of Perish Song. Spoiler vs Radomus [8. Gym] At first I was like "WTF what should I do?" Trick Room + the rock typing of Physic seriously killed my team. I thought about getting Honchkrow and maybe Sigilyph. Because I didn't remeber all Pokemons of Radomus I did a fun fight against him, to see all of his Pokemon so I could better plan and actually, I won this fun fight with EASE! All I had to do was ignore Gallade in the first round and just kill Reuniclus before it could set up Trick Room. Same done with Radomus second Trick Room setter and the fight was won already. Spoiler vs Bennett [Pre-Luna] Once again the bugs are nothing more than food for the dragon. Even though Charizard is no dragon but an oversized palm tree is lol. Spoiler vs Luna [9. Gym] The fight against Luna wasn't hard at all I fear. I couldn't sweep with Charizard due to a Thunderwave, but it didn't matter all. Spoiler Before I'll head to the circus, I'm gonna have to do some breeding and grinding, which is why this chapter is as short as it is. I'm going to get myself a proper Altaria, Honchkrow, Sigilyph and if I'm in a good mood maybe a Crowbat and a Xatu. RhythmMelody
Chapter VII: Rush Hour The name of the chapter is pretty easy too understand. I'm going to rush a bit and try to bring the Monorun to an end. There are 3 for that. First is, I wanna do a Watermono. Or rather thats the third reason. The first reason I'm having exams atm and gotta concentrate for abit. The second reason is the flyingrun isn't as hard and exciting as I thought it would be. Anyway, thats why theres such a rush now. vs Samson [10. Gym] Spoiler Samson is the second fighting type leader we phase and yeah, he's just as problematic as the first one: not a bit. At least he doesn't get himself killed (yet) vs Aster& Eclipse [Route 3] Spoiler I gotta admit this fight wasn't pleasent. In my first sucess Aya had to kill Asters last 2 Pokemon by herself. The field is annoying, but in this hurried redo it kinda worked out. I wouldn't call it a beautiful fight though ^^' vs Charlotte [11. Gym] Spoiler Yeah, good ol' Charlotte. I kinda expected to get my ass handed to me but... yeah. No. It was just spamming Rock Slide and nothing else actually. vs Pulse Avalugg [Ametrine Mountain] Spoiler This one was a bit annoying at first, but in the end I still had to just spam attacks till he got down. Did take 2 tries, as I tried the new TM from Charlotte at first and kinda failed miserably. Archeops is wearing a Stone Plate for this fight, because otherwise it wouldn't oneshot Typhlosion in the first move. vs Aster [Ametrine Mountain] Spoiler Uhm yeah... Sucker Punch sucks. (for Aster at least) Poor guy didn't stand any chance at all. vs Blake [Ametrine Mountain] Spoiler I seriously shit my pants before the fight, I thought Blake would kill me over and over and over again and surpisingly, he didn't. It was really surprised at how easy went down. I didn't even have to run back to the circus to get Fire Pledge on Charizard so that I could terminate the field. vs Mewtwo [Glitch City] Spoiler Just spamming attacks, a no brainer. Was pretty lucky thought that my mons all survived one attack somehow and I got REALLY lucky with Mewto not oneshotting Noivern with an Ice Beam. vs M3G4 T3RR4 [12. Gym] Spoiler Ahhh... T3RR4. I really like that girl. The fight itself was really annoying actually. I just rushed through the fights since Samson, which is why Team wasn't what you would call prepared. I couldn't force my way with brute force through her Pokemon, as the field was to annyoing. Charizards STABs all became special (and I'm using a physical Charizard), Honchkrow lost it STAB on Sucker Punch and Nidoking would just sweep most of my team. At first I tried to outspeed Terra with Tailwind from Noivern, but it didn't help because I couldn't kill her Pokemon fast enough. In the end I changed Sigilyphs ability to magic guard. This way I could let it boost itself against Quagsire (as the burn from scald didn't do dmg anymore). The reason why Magic Guard is important is, that Quagsire deals quite the damage as soon as it uses Amnesia. Remember: In Glitch Field the higher value of spez. attack and spez. def is used for attack and defense. It took some tries to figure out to do that and then it took even more tries to succesfully sweep her team. Stone Edge crits killed my little bird just too often. Anyway, with this I'll end this chapter for now. In the next Chapter I'll go rescue Titania and Amaria and at the end I'll kick Ciels cute ass. RhythmMelody
Chapter VIII: Water Splashing (and Ciel too!) I'd say this is the chapter I always have the most fun with. I really like to fight against Fern/Blake and Solaris/Orderly John and the Water Treatment Center is my favorite puzzle I think. Though I never ever managed to win against the Pulse Swalot without tweaking my Team in some kind of way. vs Pulse Swalot [Water Treatment Center] Spoiler Annoying little piece of shit. I had to run all the way back to the circus to teach Noivern Screech again to kill it. Discharge and Sludge Wave combinend killed my team easily. Only Sigilyph MIGHT have had a chance if it could have set up, the problem was that as soon as Discharge paralyzed it, no matter the set up, Sigilyph was dead. vs Taka [Water Treatment Center] Spoiler The Noivern vs Klefki lead was stupid and resulted in a rather slow start for this game but anyway, the fight itself wasn't that hard. But we saw an Aerodactyl, a Pokemon I'll take up in my Team I think vs Fern& Blake [Fiore Mansion] Spoiler Thanks to Blake and Fern focusing on Florinia instead of me Togekiss could easily kill both of their most annyoing Pokemon, Weavile and Roserade, which could have been annoying otherwise. vs Solaris& Orderly John [Fiore Mansion] Spoiler I expected the fight to be more of a challenge. The only "problem" I faced was that my Archeops used its Flying Gem already and that some of my mons went over the level cap. Also the Noivern lead wasn't optimal. vs Ciel [13. Gym] Spoiler Thanks to Archeops Ciel wasn't a challenge, though I did fuck up with Honchkrow which resulted in the fight not being as clean as I would have liked it to be. Now there is only Gym left at the moment. But oh boi it will take some time till we get there. The next Chapter will be BIG! I will change my team a bit one last time in this Monorun yeah, stay tuned. RhythmMelody
Chapter IX: Devon [Last Chapter] The last chapter in Ep. 16 and the last chapter in this Monorun. I don't intend to take the run up again in Ep. 17. Anyway, in this chapter it's getting hot! At least for Adrienn. The raid of the Devon Corp building is always annoying for me, as it takes time to navigate through all those electro shocker ground plates. I'm betting my ass it was Sigmunds idea. Little advise: Any Ground type won't get affected by the electro shocks. Pokemon with the Magic Guard or the Volt Absorb ability won't either. Dunno about Electro-types without Volt Absorb though. My first vs Kiki [Devon Corp] Spoiler The first fight in the arena is vs Kiki. It was actually the toughest fight I ever had against her, mainly because of the changes I did in my team. 3 of my Pokemon were weak against her Lucarios Steel typing, 3 of my Pokemon get neutral damage from her Fighting typing. In the end I simply let Archeops do the job he's paid for: sweeping. vs Ciel [Devon Corp] Spoiler Once again I was surprised at how well my Flying types could handle electrics, Arclight went down without much resistance or the need to rely on Archeops or Honchkrow. Though I did went 'Oh come on' when his Exploud crit-killed Sigilyph. Anyway, sorry Arc. I hope you'll turn a blind eye on me there. vs ZEL [Devon Corp] Spoiler At my first try I used Aerodactyl as a lead, but since Aurorus has Sturdy there was no option to OHK it. Then I'd thought about setting up Sigiliyph against it, since Magic Guard keeps away the Hail. Everytime it used Thunderbolt I sent a quick prayer to god to not let Sigilyph get paralyzed. And it did not, though that didn't make difference. And then Honchkrow happend and yeah... never thought it could be this easy to win against ZEL at this point. vs Adrienn [14. Gym] Spoiler Ahhh, Adrienn. Well xe was once again no real challenge. I won against xe in the first try, Sigilyph being MVP after setting up without any resistance. Using Ierodactyls Ironhead on Togekiss instead of Rock Sliding was a mistake though, because of which the fight wasn't as clean as I would have liked it. Team: End of Chapter IX Uralt ♂, Archeops Lv. 80 Adamant/Defeatist/Flying Gem Acrobatics Rock Slide Crunch U-Turn Eiersalat ♂, Togekiss Lv. 77 Modest/Serene Grace/Leftovers Air Slash Aura Sphere Ancient Power Flamethrower Der Pate ♂, Honchkrow Lv. 80 Adamant/Moxie/Dread Plate Night Slash Sucker Punch Brave Bird Rosst Rune ♂, Sigilyph Lv. 79 Calm/Magic Guard/Leftovers Stored Power Miracle Eye Cosmic Power Roost Aerodactyl ♂, Aerodactyl Lv. 79 Adamant/Pressure/Stone Plate Crunch Rock Slide Iron Head Roost Gliscor ♂, Gliscor Lv. 79 Brave/Toxic Heal/Toxic Orb Poison Jab Ice Fang Knock Off Roost Conclusion: Since this is the end of my Flying monorun, of course I'm going to say a bit about it. I was kind of shocked about the non existing difficulty of this run through. I was never a fan of the Flying type but DAMN it is seriously overpowered. Every fight of the Early Game is dominated by Charmanders Dragon Rage and Charmander wins pretty much everything up to and including Shelly. One has type advantage against all three Pulse Tangrowth, against two of your rivals. There are two Fighting type and one Grass Type Gym leader. One of the two weakness of the Flying type is the very first Gym, which is getting dominated by Dragon Rage. Steel and Rock Gyms are still missing as of Ep. 16. Flying Pokemon are some of the fastest Pokemon ingame, resulting in almost always outspeeding the enemy and striking first. Pretty much any of your Pokemon can learn the great recovery Roost. Your offensive power is awesome and there are even some defensive Flying types, like Gliscor, Altaria or Sigilyph. The type covarge of Flying types via second typing is awesome, though I'll admit that Steel and Rock typings are a small problem, as one doesn't get access to Ground or Fighting moves till the midgame, which is why Rock is more annoying than Steel. My opinion is, that this monorun was pretty easy. There wasn't any oppenent that gave me too much of a trouble and many of the oppenents I thought that would rip me a new one, were really tame and easy to beat. Though there are some fights that aren't as easy as others, the further one progresses, the easier the fights get. Only in the late mid game and early late game there will be some trouble I'd say. I'd say the real MVP of my run is Archeops. Since the Spinel Town it carried lots of fights and stomped tons of oppenents before me. It's offensive power is unbelievable and even though it's kind of a glass cannon. Pokemon I would recommend: Charizard, Archeops, Sigilyph, Honchkrow, Crobat, (Togekiss), (Noivern) Yeah.. that's it from me. Jess
19 minutes ago, St0mpa said: I don't know why people don't realise this especially with the new PULSE dex the PULSE Tangrowth has filter wich cuts super effective attacks by half and as grass/poison has no 4x weaknesses PULSE Tangrowth only rakes regular damage from any attack that isn't resisted. By Bulbapedia: Filter reduces super-effective damage by ¼. A move that would deal 2× damage will instead deal 1.5× damage, and a move that would deal 4× will instead deal 3×.
