Turn 4

Melina heals Kino for 21 health, taking an identical amount of damage in the process.

Officer D, determined to strike down the ancient god who dared laughed at his previous attempt, again slashes at Tama. Even still, he barely manages to do more than scratch him for [4] damage.

Tama, beginning to grow annoyed by the human’s persistence, glares down at the man as his claws and fangs glow an ominous crimson. With a single roar, he blasts the officer with a ferocious storm of scarlet electricity, dealing [42] damage and healing himself for [13] health; The Officer slowly begins to rethink his life decisions as he spasms in pain...

Soldier Battalion B, seeing the trouble their superior is having against the old god, begin to form up, raising their shields high and beginning to guard as they slowly approach.

DT Warrior Battalion A is far less concerned about approaching tactically, instead charging the old thunder god and slashing at him for [1] damage

DT Warrior Battalion B attempt to follow it up, slashing for [0] damage… the look on tama’s face slowly begins to shift from mild annoyance as he bares a mouthful of razor-like fangs….

Enma once more proceeds to fire off a curse or two, dealing [7] damage to DT Archer Bat B, and marking them, as the little dead girls summoned by their adult sisters are wont to do.

Kino, of course, follows up with her own strike, dealing [22] damage and causing one of the archers to crumble into dust. She also heals herself for [2] health and gains a measly shield for the turn as part of the deal. How nice for her...

Soldier Battalion C, having seen more than enough of the old god’s destruction thus far, head over to assist their superior and fellow unit, slashing at Tama for [2] damage. He seems to have gotten used to it by this point.

Hiroki proceeds to rain hot, hot plasma upon the enemy forces, she hits Officer A, B, and D for [13] damage each, melting Officer B into hot, hot goo and killing him instantly. Soldier Battalion A,B,C,D are hit for [8], [4], [8], [8]. DT Warrior Bat A,B,C are struck for [9] each. DT Archer Bat B & D are struck for [9] each. DT Beast Bat A is struck for [12].

DT Archer Battalion B fire wildly into the crowd, striking Hiroki for [0]. They also strike Kino, though her shield absorbs some of the blow. It is still too much for it and breaks through however, dealing [7] damage.

DT Archer Battalion D turn their attention on the massive, man-faced tiger who’s been causing such a ruckus, firing on Tama for [0] damage.

Soldier Battalion A rush towards Morgan and Halley. (4=Pass) Morgan however teleports out of the way and deftly strikes them for [5] damage. Halley isn’t as lucky and is still slashed for [7] damage.

DT Beast Battalion A surround Melina and pounce upon the healer, claws and fangs beared. [17 v 27] they fail to draw any blood from the healer however, instead smashing into each other as she deftly ducks out of the way.

Halley fires sparkling energy at DT Beast Bat A, DT Warrior Bat A, and DT Warrior Bat C, hitting for [8] [3] and [5] damage, and disabling them.

Morgan heals himself, hiroki, and halley for [20] hp each.

Officer A hurls lightning at Hiroki for [3] damage.

Soldier Battalion D slash Melina for [1] damage.

DT Warrior Battalion C find themselves too mesmerized by the sparkles shot at them to try slashing anyone…

Dackly blasts DT Archer Bat B with one last stare, inflicting 136 hate stacks. They are instantly frozen in place, hardening into stone statues. Gozer charges yet more power, adding [5] to his bombs.

House Asterlux sends it’s regards, raining down arrows and fire from the sky. They hit Officers A & D for [23] and [18] damage, killing both of them instantly. Their assault continues, and they hit DT Beast Bat A and Soldier Battalion A for [25] and [21] damage, causing one beast to crumble.

Five more Dragon Tooth Beast Arrive…. [DTs defeated this turn…. 10]... they remain on the field.

"This! This is the true power of Hatred! Feel the ultimate sting, The Gorgon's Poison!  Petrifaction Incarnate!"

Cackling Madly, Dackly Blasts Dragon Tooth Warrior Battalion C with Petrify, while Gozer Continues to charge Deleterious Bomb!

The Petrify would deal 1d6+14 Hate Stacks to Each Skeleton Individually, While Deleterious Bomb would gain 4+1d2 Damage!

  Hide contents

Level 4 Petrify: (Gaze): Dackly focuses on Feelings of Hatred and Fear, blasting a target with pure hatred, which feeds on the targets fear and inflicts Int+1d6 Hatred Stacks.  This is considered a status effect, whose effects (But not application of the stacks) can be resisted by specific defenses, such as Mirror Mail, True Heroic Resolve, and being made of stone, but cannot be cleansed.  When Hatred Stacks Exceed Remaining Health, the target is petrified, executing them.  Enemies are considered Helpless in this state.

Level 2, Stacks increased to Int+1d10

Level 3, Stacks increased to Int+2d8

Level 4, Stacks increased to (2*Int)+1d6

Level 1: (Blue Art) Deleterious Bomb: Gozer Creates an invisible bomb from psychic energy, deal (Str/2)+1d4 Damage per turn charged.  If Gozer is defeated, the bombs go off, and deal doubled damage.

Dackly's Int = 7

Gozer's Str = 7

"Any of you that survive this, stay down."  Gozer says, slowly, loudly, and confidently.

The Skeletons on the field that are already turned to stone glow a bright green, before imploding in on themselves into a glittering green dust, which flies both towards Gozer, and into the air.

The Soldiers would notice The Green Motes begin to rain down like snow, each one landing on some sort of.. Invisible Spheres?

Every Soldier sees one of these spheres within arm's distance, or behind one of their allies as the green dust keeps falling, highlighting them in start definition.

The Spheres are now beginning to glow.

"The Quest Class of demons have powers which make them particularly intriguing and powerful, they often have the ability to create things from their own psychic and spiritual energy."

"This is important because I have gained one of those techniques in my travels, more specifically, I can create invisible bombs."

Gozer holds out an empty hand.

"Even though you cannot see it, the object in my hand is very real, and very deadly."

"If I were a more dramatic person, I might say something like, 'Bang'."

Each sphere now flies towards a target, exploding in a green and white blast, some take massive chunks out of arms and legs, others instead pulverize bone into powder.

Dackly simply Cackles that much more, hopping on Gozer's Shoulders to blast DT Warrior Battalion B with Petrify, at the same time Gozer Detonates his Deleterious Bombs, Spending 10 Earthen Emeralds in order to make it deal it's AoE Damage to every enemy in this combat.

Turn 6

Tama continues assailing the poor soldiers with lightning. As he is wont to do by this point, his claws and fangs glow an eerie red and a hail of crimson electricity rains down upon Soldier Battalion A and quickly they realize how useless they’re guard is, for the explosive burst pierces right through for [44] damage. Tama is restores [13] health to himself by absorbing the carnage.

Soldier Battalion B slash at none other than the the man-faced big cat, striking Tama for [3] damage.

DT Warrior Battalion A slashes at Tama and Morgan [12]. They deal [1] damage to Tama, but Morgan manages to warp out of the way, striking them for [5] pure damage in retribution!

DT Warrior Battalion B tries to succeed where their fellow constructs failed, also targeting Tama and Morgan [44; fail]. They strike the storm king for [6] damage and catching morgan unawares for [13] damage!

Enma once more does creepy dead girl things as she attacks DT Warrior Bat A, dealing [7] damage and marking them with another curse! The impact as no where near as spoopy as the first five times though. Regardless, kino follows it up for [21] damage! The spoopiness is suddenly back in full force as one of the skellingtons crumbles into bits, oh the humanity! Enma also heals for [9]

Electing it is best to kill the heaviest hitters thus far, Soldier Battalion C lashes out at Tama Vajra, Morgan[87; fail], Kino, and Hiroki, dealing [2], [15], [13], and [7] damage!

Hiroki Melts DT beast battalion A, and either through desperate resolve to beat her own inferiority complex or through sheer badassery, establishes her superiority over them with extra damage, hitting them for [35] Damage! One of the beasts is reduced to nothing but a glowing puddle!

DT Archer Battalion D rattle loudly as they raise their bows and provide covering fire for the soldier battalions, striking Tama for [1] damage.

Soldier Battalion A split up and flank Tama vajra, all three of them slashing the storm from different angles, dealing [5] damage total! They back away after, their tactic having not proved as… effective as they hoped.

DT Beast A tries it’s own luck at taking at the big cat, slashing at Tama’s hide [22 vs 7] and managing the pull deep swathes of fur away, revealing claw wounds which bleed a golden substance that the beast attempts to lap up eagerly despite having no tongue or digestive system.

DT Beast Battalion B follow the other beast’s example. Emboldened, they split up to attack from five different angles, pouncing as a pack and sinking their fangs into the Storm King for [17] Damage total! Ichor flows freely from the king’s wounds, and the look of annoyance that has long been plastered on his face quickly changes into one of rage...

Halley attacks DT Warrior Bat A for [5] damage! They seem to dextrous for her to have any advantage whatsoever.

Morgan unleashes some soul music upon the battlefield, healing Kino, Halley, and Gozer for 20 hp each! He may have just well saved Kino from having a very bad time...

Soldier Battalion D notice what their brothers in the other battalions have been puttin’ down, and they’re about to deliver! They split themselves up to flank the storm king, all five attacking simultaneously at his already exposed wounds and doing a massive [49] damage! Tis done, Tama issues a roar of unbridled fury, reeling back on his hind legs before toppling to the earth, dead! Moments later his corpse vanishes into countless flurries of golden light, returning to ghost as the woman is forced out of her Hymn State!

DT Warrior Battalion C sees an opportunity and attempt to kill the party’s acting commander, striking ghost… they’re blades fail to penetrate her armor however, doing [0] damage! They back off as her eyes begin to flare crimson in response...

Melina basically heals kino, restoring 14 hp quite basically!

Dackly blasts DT Warrior Bat. B with petrify, inflicting them with [170] hate stacks! Gozer meanwhile

Spoiler

breaks the seal, inserts the keys, and enters the launch codes before nuking the opposition hard enough to wipe most of them off the face of the earth, dealing *drum roll*

[81] Damage to Soldier Bat A and killing two of them instantly! [135] damage is dealt to Soldier Battalion B, C, and D, killing a total of 6 men between them instantly! [216] damage is dealt to DT Warrior Battalion A, [270] to Bat B, and [243] to Bat C, destroying 21 Skellingtons in total! As if that weren’t enough, DT Warrior Bat B & C succumbed to the hate and instantly turned into stone, how very metal! But wait, there’s more! The Carnage Continues as DT Archer Bat D takes [108] damage, destroying three of the skeletons instantly and leaving the last one nothing but a crumbling mess on the ground! DT Beast Bat A takes [27] damage, crushing the last of the mongrels, while it’s brother squadron B takes [135] destroying the entire battalion instantly! Oh the HUMANITY!

Wait ladies and gentleman, there’s still even MORE! House Asterlux, inspired by the glorious destruction taking place outside their walls, put the coup de grace on the whole scenario with another storm of hellfire that seems to erupt from under the enemy's feet! The combined spell scorches Soldier Battalion A for [54] damage and incinerating the last two men! The fires consume Soldier Bat B for [44] Damage, killing one man! They eat away at Soldier Bat C for [50] damage, again killing 1! The flames continue to rampage around the party, tearing apart Soldier Bat D for [45] Damage, again ending the life of 1 man! They sear DT Warrior Bat A for [35] damage, destroying 1! The last Dragon tooth Archer stands no chance, going down to [30] Damage and instantly being incinerated!

With the carnage now complete, the fires recede, and as the smoke lifts, what the party sees standing before are the pitiful remnants of the enemy force- barely some 6 men and 2 skeletons…

There is not a single sign of any reinforcements on the horizon…

It is time to end this.

Dackly runs up to Soldier Battalion B and Petrifies them right in the face!

Gozer, meanwhile, uses Deleterious Bomb to throw an immediately gratifying bomb at DT Warrior Battalion A!

"Oh Man that was Cheesy, Gozer. Wow!" Dackly groans good naturedly, leaping over one of the resulting smoking corpses to get at her enemies.

"Actually, those were bombs."  he says, flinging a quickly and poorly made explosive at the skeletons.

"Seriously though! You guys are kinda going to die if you don't lay on the ground and surrender, considering this is war and all!"  Dackly shouts, as green light explodes from her eye.

Spoiler

"Woah... " Halley gazed upon the utter destruction laid upon her enemies. She almost felt pity for her foes.

Though, it wasn't like they didn't have a chance to flee. That thought alone somewhat comforted Halley enough for her to put down the leftover skeletal soldiers.

Halley fired at DT Soldier Battalion D, dealing 1d8 + SYN = 1d8 + 6 damage + 1d4 damage for every 4 DEX advantage she has over the target.

Kino and Enma

The enemy numbers dwindled very quickly and heavily, as the two sisters finally found their respite in the long-lasting endurance of fighting. Nonetheless, there was no slacking off in defeating the final remains of the horde, as Kino pressed her sister to enjoy her last moments as fun as they would clean up.

Kino: 38/64
Enma: 22/23

Enma attacks Dragon Tooth Warrior Battalion A with a Basic Attack, marking them with Entente of Malice. (Deals Kino's level + INT damage, 3 + 9 = 12)

Kino follows up on the same Battalion A with her own Basic Attack, triggering Entente of Malice and Necromantic Pact's (weapon effect's) bonus damage. {Total damage: 2d4 + INT + INT + INT/2, = 2d4 +22) This attack will also trigger United We Stand. (Kino's attack heals Enma for INT health)

Equipment:

Name: Staff of Profanity
Description: A staff she once used for her ceremonial duties, since imbued with the unholy powers of the spirits she attracts.
Type: Weapon
Damage: 2d4 + INT
Minimum Stats: 2 INT
Weight: 1
SYN Threshold/Bonus: N/A
Special Qualities:
Bound: Only Kino can use this staff.
Necromantic Pact: Kino gains bonus damage equal to INT/2, rounded down. Current bonus: 4

Name: Ceremonial Garbs

Type: Armor
Damage: N/A
Minimum Stats:

Shepherdesses of Souls: Kino and Enma have a 2*INT chance to critically strike for double damage with their basic attacks, separately counted.

Entente of Malice (Level 3): Passive. The vengeful spirits of Kino's deceased kin fuel Enma's Basic Attack, causing her attacks to mark her targets. Whenever Kino attacks a target marked by Enma on the same turn, her triggering attack deals bonus damage equal to 0.5 x INT, rounded down.
Level 2: Entente of Malice's bonus damage is increased to 0.75 x INT, rounded down.
Level 3: Entente of Malice's bonus damage is increased to 1 x INT.

  • 2 weeks later...
Spoiler

There is trepidation on the soldier's faces as yet another volley of attacks is prepared by the party. Gone is their discipline, gone is their tenacity. Their brethren are all dead, their commanders, all dead, the constructs they had relied on for backup, crumbled, naught but dust littering the war torn earth. The might they faced from the outworlders... it was beyond any they had faced from the Asterlux forces before, and it had utterly annihilated them from root to stem. Screams of Terror fill the night air as nigh simultaneously, they come to the agreement that this war is not worth their lives, and all at once they toss aside their Swords and their Shields, and they dash off the killing field and into the blackness of the night to avoid the encroaching wave of death. Only the 2 skeletons remain, but they are easily dispatched as they move into the line of the green light Dackly had fired, instantly turning to stone and shifting one last time as their bodies hardened, before they were forever frozen as effigies in testament to this victory, skulls grinning menacingly, swords held high, prepared to strike.

"HOLD, ALL OF YOU!" Ghost commands, but surprisingly, its not directed at the fleeing soldiers, but rather the party itself, as her steely gaze tracked their retreating forms until they vanished into the dark.

Once they did, she stepped forward before the squadron, turning to address them all "The looks on their faces just now... those were the looks of men with every intention of deserting. Their might has withered, and their spirits have been broken. There is no point pursuing them, this battle is won..." with that said however, a small, almost coy smile bloomed on her lips. Oh how much it reminded her of the old days... She continued,

"and from what I heard earlier, so too is the fight against the witch and the other servant..." and just as quickly as it came, the smile was gone, "we're making progress, but the war is still far from over. It's best we get back to the fort now; we may have dispatched these forces, but soon enough more will be rolling in."

"Nice, Very Nice."  Dackly Nods, Grinning.

She walks over to the skeletons, and, pausing for a moment, Picks them both up.  She takes them inside, and sets one in the middle of the courtyard.

"Let's Be nice to these guys Gozer, they helped out pretty nicely, don't you think?"

Gozer Nods, then uses his own power on the statue, Crafting a small fountain out of it, and making it gently weep healing tears using the other skeleton, turned into emerald powder, which is infused into the stone.

"Sudden Victory" is engraved at the base.

Dackly ruins the poignant moment by shouting "GET YOUR GLOWY HEALING WATER RIGHT HERE FOLKS!" immediately after it is finished.

While she did that, making a general nuesance of herself, Gozer went back and immediately began looting in earnest.
