Doku
Hello! First time poster long time lurker and such. Started playing this game a bit ago and have enjoyed the crap out of it! However i got a team together, and while i have been able to clear the content it'd be nice to see a few fresh faces or at least better round out the team as this team tends to get me in trouble quite a bit. (my god the soft resets and the memorizing of movesets >.<) Funny enough, i picked torchic as my starter but never used her because i found blaziken to be a bit op the last legit pokemon game i played (at least in the beginning. maybe not anymore?) My team has changed a few times (mainly i had a Camerupt for the longest time till he started getting ohko'd. level 55 was as high as he got) but the following has been my staple for a majority of the game. I just got fly, and ive been picking up the event pokemon i now have access to so im aware im really far in the game but still wanna swap it up a bit. My box is... giant and filled with stuff just ready to go. Im willing to start breeding i just cant make any decision :(. Any suggestions to jump start the pokemon addled mind? My team: Gardevoir- Synchronize Modest 252 spA/252 speed/6def psychic Future Sight Wish Moonblast Golem - Sturdy Careful 208 hp/252attk/50spd Steath Rock Rock Blast Stone Edge Earthquake Roserade - Natural Cure Timid 252 spa/252 speed giga drain spikes venoshock stun spore Magnezone - Sturdy Modest 252 spa/252speed discharge magnet rise zap cannon Flash Cannon Empoleon - Torrent Modest 252 hp/252spa Water Sport Surf Brine Dive Arcanine - Intimidate Lonely 252 atk/(every thing is jumbled after atk) Heat Wave Fire fang Outrage Close combat Edited July 26, 2017 by Doku

It's considered the most broken starter in pretty much any game if it has speed boost. I would consider replacing Empoleon with another Water type with more coverage (since it's best moves aren't really available). Tentacruel is a basic Special choice to provide additional Poison coverage, while Crawdaunt provides physical Water/Dark coverage with Dragon Dance for boosting. Yeah she had speed boost and it just felt... crazy op to just leave her on the field in the beginning of the game. Empoleon was used as coverage for the fire gym as I had no water types at the time (was using Forretress, and that turned out real well) and for its bulk. If i remember correctly Tentacruel will fill the same slot?

Without Flash Cannon, Scald, or Ice Beam, Empoeon only has 'meh' STAB Water moves without much type coverage. You're probably ok otherwise, aside from lack of flying or dark coverage (at least with the mons you listed).

Without Flash Cannon, Scald, or Ice Beam, How do you get Scald on Tentacruel? I read a little on the breeding section about needing Ep 12 to do so since we dont have access to the proper TM yet? I imagine tentacruel would look like this: modest 252 spa/252spd Rapid spin toxic spike hex? scald/hydro pump What about Rotam-Wash? would he serve much the same minus Rapid spin but adding volt switch? Also, i feel like Golems only purpose in life right now is to set stealth rocks and die. Is there another Stealth rock user i could swap in thats less ohkoish? I was just saying that Empolion basically has no really good moves right now without those three moves (it's basically the worst starter). I just recommend replacing it with a better water mon. You can do TM breeding in an earlier episode (or on Reborn Hardcore). Rotom Wash is good for electric coverage, though we don't have Volt Switch yet (and it doesn't learn it naturally). A bulky Mamoswine is my Stealth Rock user sometimes, though it was still great before the Stealth Rocks. You get to keep Earthquake and even add Ice coverage (though you lose other Rock coverage). Swampert is a good water pokemon that can learn stealth rock and it has only one weekness.
