Is it compulsay to lose to that hiker to obtain beldum? i never lose a battle in this game so it kind of sad if we really have to lose to him..

You must lose to someone, doesn't matter if it's a hiker or a wild battle

you think Cynthia never lost a battle? or Steven? or f*cking Lance or Alder? or even Iris and Diantha? every champion loses from time to time on their way to the top

in episode 16, you become the champion because Xe ask you to and you randomly lose to random pokemon... it kind of weird xD

I wouldn't pay too much attention to it if I were you

Well, video or it didn't happen. It's impossible to win everyone first try in Reborn.

I call bs. :P

I call bs in normal runthrough. But I'm pretty sure if one is dedicated and tweaks ones team everytime 100% before going against anyone, I'd say it's possible.

Must have an extreme form of OCD to 100% change your team every time to fully counter the opponent. I still call bs. Have run through reborn four times, and every time someone gave me trouble.

and even if you change your team every time, there's hax that can stop you. and even if you know every boss battle of reborn 10%, one minor missplay and you lose. winning everything in this game in 100% not possible

One doesn't need 100% changes, but I think each Gym leader is possibly deafeted with the right 1-3 Pokemon. I'm always having trouble too, but mostly because I often refuse to use certain Pokemon for various reasons. And except for Pulse Swalot there wasn't a single fight I did not win on first try at least once. Thus I conclude if one seriously wishes too, it is possible to play the game without losses. Though you won't get Beldum :D

I agree with this.

This MIGHT be possible, with a whole load of luck, but, even so, the mentality that "oh, they want me to be the successor of the champion's throne, so I must never lose a battle" is just not realistic or correct. You go to the top just because you have experienced defeat many times and kept getting on your feet and climbing. Not because you never lose.

I never said anything about the mentality behind that, I was just talking about the possibility of never losing. Of course one has to lose first to learn, but that is looking at reality. Reborn is a game and one can easily look up oppenents and their tactics before battling enemies and use experience from already finished run through. I had over a dozen runs where I played up to Radomus before even finishing the episode even once because I always started a new run to try out different tactics and trying to find the 'perfect' game. Of course I fucked up dozen and hundreds of times, so even if I did manage a run where I wouldn't loose a single time, I wouldn't be at the top because I never lost. I would be there because I lost often, but in another run through.

So what I want to say is: I don't think it is wrong to aim for the 'no-loss' run through.

Even if you know the strategy and movesets and 'mons the opponents use, even if you get a perfect team to beat them everytime, one miss or different move choice by AI, one randomly inflicted Freeze, or Paralysis, or flinch, or crit will make you lose eventually. It is not possible to go undefeated through the game in my opinion.

Also, this isn't an actual run that can be made in Reborn. In Pokemon Red, maybe. But "not losing" isn't something that makes your run special. It is close to nuzlocke, but far from it as well. Nuzlocke depends on bond creation with your 'mons, not on dumping them everytime to get different perfect 6.

Anyways, pointless conversation, let's accept our opinions are different and end it here.
