Route 4 First trainers cubone

So i just fought this guys cubone and the cubone used play rough. Can anyone explain to me how to get play rough onto a cubone?

That is not possible. Play Rough is neither an egg or event move.

guess it was a gen 6 thing many pokemon have certain moves they loose access to in later gens let's just say this trainer "transferred" his cubone from gen 6 and leave it at that. might talk to ame don't know if she plans to change it.

I remember to read a post that it was once possible to breed a Cubone with Play Rough, but only in the first versions of X/Y. It got removed in later updates of X/Y and is not available in any further versions or generations anymore. In case that you have an unused X/Y with Version 1.0 available, you could eventually breed it. However, as soon as you update the game, it will not be possible anymore. (I do not have the source to that post)

 

For the reason that "it was possible to obtain the move at some point", the move remains in Smogon.
