The next day, Amaria woke up. She knew her and James needed to get going immediately. “James. James come on. You gotta wake up.” Amaria said to James while she shook him to try to get him up. “Hmm. Take a left here.” James said in his sleep. “Wake up!” Amaria pushed James off the bed and landed on the floor. “Oww! I think you took a rough turn there.” James said on the floor. “Oops. Uhh… Sorry. Didn’t mean to do that. But we gotta get ready and try to find Florinia.” Amaria said, helping James to his feet. They both got ready and left the boat. They headed up north. This time, the cops weren’t there. “Hmm. There were cops there yesterday. I wonder where they went.” James pondered. “This isn’t good. We need to move faster.” They walked up north more and finally, they saw Florinia. “Florinia! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m sorry I didn’t come yesterday. I’ll tell you about it later.” Amaria said. “Yes. And it seems James is here too. Very well. I have figured out that the source of the sudden life of plants is in the park just above here. We must find the problem and find a solution to it.” Florinia said. Both Amaria and Florinia walked up into the park. James decided to stay back for a bit just in case something were to happen. Then he heard Amaria’s voice. “No no! Let go of me! Agh!”

James then ran in and saw the most horrifying thing. He saw both Florinia and Amaria being hung by their necks by vines. A Tangrowth in some kind of machine. And what looked like to be a Team Meteor grunt.

“Who are you?!” James demanded. “Hmm. 2 are ensnared by the vines. The 3rd will be dealt with easily as well.” the man said. He turned around and faced James. “Well, uh, my name is Lumi.” “Well Lumi, it’s time-” “And I am Zero.” “Uhh… Wait. There’s on 1-” “And I am Eve. Together, we are known as ZEL!” zEl said. James had a really confused look on his face. He looked all around him to search for other people but couldn’t find anybody else. “Umm… Are you ok ZEL? I only see 1 of you here.” “We stand before you as 1 being.” Zel said. James then focused his attention to the Tangrowth in the weird machine. “What… What are you doing to that Tangrowth?!” James said in a frantic state. “Ahh yes. The PULSE machine. If you must know, this and that Tangrowth are the reason the plant life in this area has gone haywire. The machine enhances Tangrowth’s abilities and has caused the plants here to attack people and damage buildings and the roads.” Zel explained. “It does. Although, I think it hurts the Tangrowth too.” zeL mentioned. “You monster. I will make sure the plant life stops right here and now!” James said in a confident way. Although, he was kinda scared. He never seen anything like this before in his whole life. “Well, I’ll be delighted to beat you in battle.” The battle then began.

James sent out his Gulpin, and of course Gulpin did its usual greet with its trainer. “I knwo you’re hungry buddy but right now, it’s time to be serious!” he told his Pokemon. Gulpin understood and took its stance. ZEL through out the Tangrowth. “Now let me show you what I can do!” zeL shouted. He pressed a button on his wrist and the Tangrowth started to mutant.

“What the… What did you do to that Tangrowth?!” James shouted in shock. “Let’s just say it’s a new kind of Mega Evolution. Now, prepare to be beaten!” Zel shouted. The battle then began.

“Next time, use your own Pokemon!” zEl shouted. “I’m sorry Tangrowth. I hope you aren’t too hurt.” zeL apologized. “Everything will go back to normal now then?” Zel asked. “Correct. The plants will now vanish. James, don’t bother us ever again or you will face the consequences. It’s time for my leave.” zEl said. He packed up the machine and left. Almost immediately, the plants reverted back and everything went back to normal. James ran over to Florinia and Amaria to make sure they were ok. “We’re fine James. That was scary though. I almost couldn’t breath. I’m so thankful that you were here though. I don’t know what we would have done without you. Well, I think I should go now. Bye James and Florinia.” Amaria said. She then left. “Thanks are in order to you James. But right now, it is time for me to return to the Onyx Trainer School. I expect your attendance for your attempt at retrieving my badge. Farewell.” Florinia said. Then she left. “Later!” James shouted.

It was getting pretty late out and James knew he needed to get back to the Grand Hall. Just as he was about to leave though, he heard a Pokemon cry. He listened to the cry and tried to find the source of it. Under a tree by the park, he saw a Shinx sitting. It looked really frightened. James came over and kneeled by it. “Hey little guy. Are you alright?” James asked it. He went to pick it up but the little Pokemon backed away. “You don’t have to be afraid little 1.” James decided to sit down next to it under the tree. “Don’t worry. I’m not going to hurt you.” He very softly pet the top of its head but that’s all he was able to do as it backed away. James decided he’d sit there until the Shinx came around. After about a half hour sitting there though, James fell asleep underneath the tree. The Shinx could see that James really cared about it if he was falling asleep underneath a tree to gain its trust. So at 1st it went up and licked his hand and then it climbed up onto his lap, snuggled and fell asleep. A couple of hours later, James woke up and saw the Shinx in his lap. He smiled, picked the shinx up in his arms and walked to the Grand Hall.

It was really late when James walked into the Grand Hall. The main room never looked so empty before. He took the Shinx into his room and placed it onto his bed. James was almost barely able to get ready for sleep but he was able to. He laid down and went to sleep with Shinx right next to him.

The next day, James woke up and sat up in bed. “Shinx! Shinx!” he heard behind him. It was Shinx. It looked much happier than the night before. “Well you seem to have perked up.” James said with a smile on his face. The Shinx shook its head up and down. James then took an empty PokeBall and looked at it. “Shinx… Would you like to join me on my adventure?” James asked it. Shinx got so excited, it jumped into James’ arms and electrocuted him. Luckily though, he was shocked by Pikachu so much, he became almost completely immune to electric attacks. James tapped Shinx with the PokeBall and it went inside. James smiled as he caught a new friend.

James left his room and was heading out of the Grand Hall when he heard Ame calling out to him. “Hey James! Hey. I haven’t seen you for the past couple of days. What happened?” Ame asked concerned. James explained the whole situation. “Team Meteor was the cause of plant life in Obsidia? They seem to be causing more problems than I thought they would. Keep me updated more if you find anything else out about Team Meteor or if they decide to do something else. Thank you for taking care of the problem though. What are you planning on doing today?” she asked. “Well, Florinia told me to meet her at her Gym yesterday in the evening. So I’m going there today to win my 2nd badge.” James said confidently. “Well good luck. I know you most likely already know this but she’s a Grass Type user. And don’t underestimate her with how she acts. She could be a big deal. So be careful.” Ame said. “Alright. Thanks for the tip Ame. I’ll see you later.” James said and then left the Grand Hall.

He walked to the Obsidia Park and wondered where to go to next. He saw a set of stairs to the north of him and since he never was up that way before, he decided to go up that way. When he reached the top, he read a sign that said Onyx Ward and Onyx Trainer School. “Hmm. Where could the gym be?” James pondered to himself. He walked around the ward but couldn’t find the gym. He then went into a apartment facility and asked a person that was in there if there was a gym there and if so where. “Haha. You have no idea how many times people have come in here and asked that. The gym is inside the school. Take the entrance on the left side of the school. Once you’re inside, go left again and then just go straight up and you’ll see her in the gym.” “Ohh. Alright. Seems simple enough. Thanks!” James said.

He listened to the person’s instructions. He took the entrance on the left, but when he got inside, he saw Fern there. “Hmph. I knew you’d come here James. Trey, Skye. 1 of you hit the switch and the other, tell the other kids to make sure James can’t make it to Florinia. He doesn’t deserve to challenge her.” Fern commanded. They listened and left the room. Fern backed up and a steel gate came down. James ran up towards the gate and yelled to Fern. “What are you talking about?! I have the right to face her for the badge! Any trainer does!” James shouted. “Anyone but you deserves to challenge my sister for her badge. You’re not worthy enough James. So get lost scrub.” Fern said. He then went into the room on the left.

James was furious. How dare someone not let him challenge the Gym Leader. But, he didn’t have any choice but to go into the school entrance. He left, went to the right and tried to enter the school but a student from the school yelled to him. “STOP! I was ordered to stop you by Fern!” and sent out a Wingull. “Fine! Go Shinx!” Shinx came out and in excitement, sent an electric shock to James. The student started to laugh. “Hahaha. Your Shinx just shocked you. You are an absolute-” But before he could finish his sentence, he saw James’ face and saw that he was smiling. “How… Why are you smiling? You just got shocked!” “Hmph! Shinx, jump into my arms and use Spark on me.” Shinx did what James said. The student could see that James was getting shocked but nothing was happening. He wasn’t feeling any pain. “What the… How is that-” “Shinx, use Spark on Wingull!” he commanded his Shinx. In 1 shot, the Wingull went down. And the same happened to the student’s Totodile and Taillow. “You’re crazy!” the student said and ran away. “Ha! We sure showed them right Shinx? Huh?” He looked at Shinx and noticed it was glowing. It was starting to evolve. In a couple of moments, Shinx was now a Luxio. “Lux! Luxio!” it said to James. It leaped up onto James and electric shocked James. It still barely hurt him but he felt his hair get all poofy. “Well… I’ll have to get used to that. Haha.” James said to its Pokemon while laughing. James fixed his hair and returned Luxio to its PokeBall.

James then went inside the school. It looked really nice inside. If he was younger and lived around here, he would have definitely come here. But he couldn’t enjoy it for long. He saw more students in the hallway and some of them were staring at him with a mean look. “Must be Fern’s lackies. Alright. I can do this!” James walked in and he won battle after battle. He and his Pokemon were tired. Luckily, there was a PokeCenter there in the school so he rested his Pokemon there. After taking a little breather for himself, he headed upstairs. And of course, he saw more students giving him a dirty look. He battled through them all like before. He went back downstairs on the other side. When he made it down, he again saw some students giving him dirty looks. “Again? How many people are that loyal to him?” James pondered to himself. He went back to the PokeCenter inside the school and healed up his Pokemon again but this time, went right to battling the students on the other side. He finally got through them and went to the room Fern did hours ago. Fern saw James come into the room.

“Great. Those idiots can’t do a damn thing right. I gave them 1 order. 1! And that was to keep you out and they can’t even do that right? What a bunch of idiots. All of them! Hmph. Look James. Don’t take it personally. You just ain’t good enough to take on my sis. Look at it this way. I’m saving you from embarrassment. So just go and leave alright?” Fern told James. “No you twerp! I have the right to fight the Gym Leader, which just happens to be your sister, and whether I win or lose is up to my abilities of a trainer.” James responded back sternly. “Figures. I knew you wouldn’t listen to me. Well, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. You wanna battle scrub? Bring it!”

“Now will you please move, you twerp?” James said after winning the battle. “Hey. Listen to me old man. I am no twerp! You think you’re so damn high and mighty because you’re doing the Gym Challenge right? You’ve gotten a big head since we 1st met.” Fern angrily said to James. “It sounds like you’re talking more about yourself more than me.” James said with a cocky smile on his face. This got Fern mad. “You know what? You ain’t the only 1 who can take on the Gym Challenge. I’m gonna do it too and I’ll show you how easy it is. Later, scrub!” Fern said and he left the school.

James looked up at the clock. It was really late and he was too tired to go back to the Grand Hall. He looked through the school and finally found Florinina. “Hey Florinia. Can I stay the night here? It’s too late to go back to the Grand Hall.” James asked her. She stared at him for a couple of moments silently. This was really awkward for James. “Non-students are not permitted to stay here for an over night stay.” Florinia said. James felt sad. “Ohh. Well that’s-” “However, under the circumstances of how you helped with the situation yesterday, I will allow you a 1 night stay tonight. Allow me to take you to an empty dorm room.” Florinia said, interrupting James. “Oh. Well thank you!” James said. She took him upstairs and into a dorm that had previously been hers. “Please use any of the beds you would like. I must return to my room for studies.” Florinia said and then left.

James got ready for bed but before lying down, he saw a sign above 1 of the beds that said Florinia. “Hmm. Do all the beds have a name over the beds?” he wondered to himself. He checked the beds from left to right. “Julia, Florinia, Titania and Amaria. I wonder who Titania is.” James saw that they all had journals but he had respect for everyone and decided not to peek through their personal lives. He chose to sleep in Amaria’s bed and fell asleep comfortably.

James woke up refreshed. His experience sleeping in a dorm was pleasant. He got ready and left the dressing room. He went downstairs and and went to the room where he fought Fern the day before. There, he met Florinia. “Good morning Florinia. When can we start our Gym battle?” James asked eagerly. Florinia looked at him for a couple of seconds. “Normally, trainers who wish to battle me for my gym badge must pass a 8 question test to battle me. The ones who fail must wait til the next day to take the test again. However, with your assistance against Team Meteors affairs, you are granted a pass from the test.” she said. While James was ready to take on the gym, he didn’t want any special treatment because of it. “Umm… If you don’t mind Florinia, I think I’ll do it the regular way. I don’t want to be treated differently just because I helped out in a situation.” “Very well. If that is what you wish to do, then go to the room just right of here and take the test. When you are done, please come back and hand me the paper. 5 out of 8 right will get you a pass and the right to face me for my Gym Badge. 4 mistakes or higher will be a denial for 1 day to challenge me for the badge.” she explained to him. “Alright. I’ll be back.” James said. He left and went to the room on the right. He took a sheet of paper that had the questions on there, sat down and started the test.

A half hour later, James came out of the room and handed the test back to Florinia. Florinia looked over it. “Please come with me to the gym James.” she instructed. He followed her into her gym. When he got there, he was shocked. There was an audience of students there.

Florinia made James stand in the middle of the room in front of the students. “Uhh… Florinia? Why am I he-” “Listen up students. This man right here has just finished taking this test. Not only did he pass it but he got all 8 right. If you all were as serious as this man here was, you would do better on your tests. Now, watch and witness our Gym Battle that will take place here and now.” Florinia said. Before she stood on the other side of the battle field, James stopped her and asked “Florinia, why was that necessary?” “Since I took that test, I never saw anyone else get all 8 answers right. It’s a way to make the students of this school to try harder in their studies. And, if I must be honest with you, I am now a little more excited to battle you. This shall be most interesting indeed. Please take your place James.” They both went on opposite of the field. Florinia went into her pocket and pulled out a badge. “If you are victorious in our battle today, you will receive this badge as proof of your victory. Let the battle commence!”

The students were shocked. Not only because Florinia lost, but because James didn’t have a full team of Pokemon. “How is that possible?” a student asked. “It does not matter how many Pokemon 1 trainer has. If they have a good battle strategy, they could do great in any battle.” Florinia answered. “Here you go James. This is the Canopy Badge. You’ve definitely earned this.” James took the badge and smiled. “Yes! Badge #2! I feel so happy!” James shouted excitedly. He looked at Florinia and was shocked. She somewhat cracked a smile. It was weird but still, finally she smiled.

Later in the day, Florinia caught James resting on the couch in the PokeCenter of the school. “James, I must ask you for a favor.” Florinia said. “Sure Florinia. What is it?” “Where do you plan to go from here?” she asked him. James didn’t know the Region much still. “I’m not quite sure. I’ve only been here for a little over a week and don’t know all the places here.” “Well, if I may make a suggestion, you should head over to the Jasper and Beryl Wards. They’re on the other side of the Peridot Ward. They have suffered the same fate Obsidia Ward used to suffer. But unfortunately, they got it much worse. I would go over and take care of it myself but, with my status of being a Gym Leader, I cannot leave this place. I would like you to go to those 2 Wards and help them out anyway you can.” Florinia said. James remembered the PULSE Machine. He was a little scared but he knew he had to try to help the people of those 2 Wards. “Alright Florinia. I’ll help them. But I’ll healing up my Pokemon and I am resting as well. So I’ll probably be leaving to go there later.” James said. “Alright. Sounds acceptable.” Florinia said. As Florinia started to walk away, she stopped and turned towards James. James was worried. “Is something wrong Florinia?” James asked. “She looked at him silently for a couple of seconds. Then, in a soft but sweet sounding tone, she said “Thank you.” she smiled a bit bigger than what James saw before. Again, it felt weird seeing her smile but it felt heart warming too. “No problem Flornia.” James answered. She then turned around and left. James returned to the couch and sat back down, resting as he waited for his Pokemon to be fully healed.

As James was waiting for his Pokemon, he started thinking about his Gym battle with Florinia. He remembered 1 Pokemon she had that made him miss his. Cacnea. James remembered back when he 1st caught it. He was so happy. During their travels, they got really close. But then in Sinnoh, he gave it to the Grass Type Gym Leader Gardenia so that it could not only master Drain Punch but become stronger. James got up and went over to a student and asked her if there was a phone somewhere. The student showed him where 1 was. James called up her gym and someone answered.

Person On The Other Side Of The Phone: Hello. This is Rum ( @BlackRum ) speaking. Trainer of the Eterna Gym. Who am I speaking to?

James: My name is James. Is Gardenia there? I need to speak to her about something.

Rum: At the current moment, she’s out training her Pokemon. Can I take a message? I’ll make sure she gets it right away.

James: Well, can you ask her if it’d be ok to have my Cacnea back? See, I’ve started traveling and I’d like to have it back on my team. I’m in the Reborn Region at the current time and-

Rum: You’re in the Reborn Region?! Damn. I heard that place isn’t the nicest of places. Be careful there. I will put you on hold but I’ll be back in a couple of minutes.

-on hold for 5 minutes-

Rum: James? You still there?

James: Yes, I’m still here.

Rum: Well, she is unable to come to the phone at the current time.

James: Ohh. I see, Well I’ll-

Rum: But, she remembers you and she has given me Cacnea’s pokeball and has given me permission to send the Cacnea to you. It knows as well and it was all excited. Well, I’m ready when you are. Just tell me when to send it over to you.

James: Yes! Yes! I’m ready now!

Rum: Ok. Sending it over now.

Cacnea reaches to its destination in Reborn.

James: I got it!

Rum: Good. I hope you and your Pokemon have a grand journey. Good Bye!

James: Bye!

James got off the phone. He looked at the PokeBall that contained his Cacnea in excitement.

James: My old friend! I can’t contain my excitement any longer! Come on out Cacnea!

He threw the PokeBall and out came Cacnea. Cacnea looked all around the room and then turned around and saw James! They both ran to each other and Cacnea jumped up into James arms and hugged him. But of course, like back in the past, the spikes on Cacnea’s body stabbed James and made him wince in pain.

James: I’ve missed this feeling. Kind of. Ok. Maybe not really but it’s really good to see you again old friend.

Cacnea jumped off of James and smiled up at him.

James: Since I’ve been here, I’ve made many new friends. Come on Cacnea. Let me introduce you to them.

James walked with Cacnea back to the PokeCenter in the school. When he got there, his Pokemon were waiting for him, all rested up. They all saw Cacnea and went up to it.

James: Everyone, this is my old friend Cacnea. Cacnea, these are my new friends.

All of James’ Pokemon greeted Cacnea. It felt accepted. After a while of having his Pokemon out, he decided it was time to leave. As he was walking out, a girl came up to him.

Girl: Hey. I’m sorry to bother you but I need to ask you for a quick favor. The Day-Care Couple here have been acting weird. Could you please go see if they’re alright?

James: Sure. That’s no problem.

Girl: Thank you so much.

James left and eventually made it to the Day-Care Couple’s home. He went inside and saw both the old man and woman inside.

Old woman: Hello trainer. Can I help… You?

James: I was just checking in to see if you 2 were alright.

Old man: We’re fine. Now go away.

James: But I-

Old woman: He said go away. Can you not comprehend that?

James: I don’t see why you 2 have to be so rude.

Old man: Ohh my god. Leave!

Old woman: Please! Just go!

James: Make me!

Old man: Damnit! That’s it! I can’t take it anymore!

Old woman: Me neither! Formation!

Old man?: This Is An Attack!

Old woman?: So Brace For Impact!

Old man??: To Eliminate This Infestation!

ABSOLUTELY MOST DEFINITELY NOT THE DAY-CARE COUPLE: For Justice! That’s Right!

James looked at them in complete and udder shock. The motto they just said made him remember of the times he was with Team Rocket and he, Jessie and Meowth did their motto. James snapped back into reality and sent in 2 of his Pokemon to battle the 2 Team Meteor grunts.

Female Meteor Grunt: Well, looks like our operation here is done. We got a lot of Pokemon though.

Male Meteor Grunt: That’s for sure. You’ll never be able to find the old couple. We’ve hidden the key and we won’t tell you where that is or where they’re being held. Good luck!

Both Team Meteor Grunts then ran out of the house. James looked all over the house but couldn’t find anything. He had no other choice but to search the Obsidia Ward for the key. A couple of hours into the search, he didn’t find any kind of key. He went into the Obsidia Park and saw a little building he didn’t see before. He went inside a searched the place. On the table, he found a key. He recognized the kind of key it was thanks to him remembering the kind of key Amaria used to unlock the shed by the docks. He ran down to the Coral Ward and immediately saw a Team Meteor grunt in front of a shed.

James: Move aside! I’m here to rescue the old couple!

Team Meteor Grunt: How did you know they were here?!

James: I defeated the fake old couple at the house. I found the key. And now you’re here in front of this shed. It’s quite clear they’re in there. So let them out.

Team Meteor Grunt: Why would I honestly listen to you? I’ve got a job to do and that’s to not let anyone near this shed. So get going!

James: If you won’t get out of the way, I’ll make you. Go! Cacnea!

Team Meteor Grunt: Haha… Haha. Hahahahahaha!

James: What’s so funny?

Team Meteor Grunt: A Cacnea? Seriously? That’s the best you can send out? Haha. And here I was actually worried. This is easy. This is nothing. In fact… I’m not even gonna bring out any of my Pokemon. That’s how much of a nothing your Cacnea is! Haha.

James: Don’t talk about my Cacnea like that! It’s stronger than you’ll ever dream of!

Team Meteor Grunt: Ha! Yea right! Now, why don’t you and your green ball of nothing take a hike. I got a job to do. Unless you want me to rough up your Cacnea. Heh.

James: Hmph! No 1 talks about my Cacnea like that! If it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’ll get! Cacnea! Use Drain Punch on him!

Team Meteor Grunt: Ugh… How the heck… does a Cac-cacnea get… that strong…?

James: Nice work Cacnea. Now keep an eye on him as I open up the shed.

James ran over to the shed, unlocked the door and entered. Inside, he saw an old man and woman.

Old woman: Ohh no! Stay away from us!

James: No no. I’m here to rescue you.

Old man: Hmm. Well you aren’t wearing those ridiculous costumes.

James: I already took care of the Team Meteor Grunts that impersonated the both of you.

Old woman: You really aren’t part of that team. Ohh thank goodness. I don’t know how long me and my husband been down here for.

Old man: Yes. They told us they were going to use our job as a way to steal money. But it seems thanks to you, you saved both us and our business. Along with at least some of the trainer’s Pokemon. I’m sure they got some unfortunately.

Old woman: Yes. But thanks to you, they won’t be stealing anymore. If you want to leave your Pokemon with us, just stop by anytime and we’ll be happy to help you.

The old couple left and returned to their home. James left the shed and came outside to find only Cacnea. The Team Meteor Grunt had escaped.

James: Where did he go?

Cacnea pointed to the stairs.

James: He escaped to the stairs huh? Well, whatever the case, we saved the Day-Care couple. Cacnea, I’m proud of you. You mastered Drain Punch very well. And you’re way stronger than you ever were before. I’m glad I have you with me on my journey.

Cacnea smiled with its eyes closed. James returned Cacnes to its PokeBall and then started walking back to the Grand Hall.

As James was walking down the stairs to the Grand Hall, he heard a girl trying to command her Pokemon to listen to her.

Girl: Come on Snubbull! You gotta come with me! Snubbull, come on!

Snubbull didn’t move. James came down the stairs and spoke to the girl.

James: Hey. What seems to be the problem here?

Girl: Ohh hey. This is my Snubbull but it won’t listen to me no matter what. I’ve raised it since it came from an egg but even since it hatched, it never really listened to me. In fact, anyone that has tried to help can’t even get it to listen. I just I knew what to do.

As the girl and James were talking, Snubbull looked up towards James’ hair. Its eyes grew wider and it smiled. It got up, jumped into the air and chomped onto James’ hair.

James: AHHHHH! HELP! HELP! GET THIS THING OFF OF ME!

Girl: Snubbull! You get off of him this instant!

After a couple of minutes running around, trying to get the Snubbull off of his hair, James stopped, had a rage of fire in his eyes and screamed at Snubbull.

James: Snubbull! You do not have the right to chomp onto my hair and stay there! Get off immediately!

The girl was shocked as Snubbull listened and let go of James’ hair.

Girl: Ohh my Arceus! Are you ok?!

James: Yea. I’ll be fine. I’ll have 1 heck of a headache though.

Girl: I’m sorry about that. But you know… That’s the 1st time I saw Snubbull listen to anyone. It may have taken you to use a super loud stern voice but still. It listened to you. I’m obviously not cut out to take care of Snubbull.

The girl took out a PokeBall and handed it to James.

Girl: Please. Would you take Snubbull along on your journey? I’m sure it’ll be a great asset to your team.

James thought about it for a moment. He looked down and the Snubbull was fixated onto James. Although, James was sure that it was looking at his hair which somewhat scared him. He then looked at the PokeBall and picked it up.

James: Well, it seems like I’m gonna have more headaches.

Snubbull got excited again and jumped up towards James again.

James: Ahhh! Return Snubbull!

Snubbull went into the PokeBall just in time. James looked at the PokeBall with his new Team Member inside it.

James: -sigh- I’m gonna have to get used to that. But I’m glad I have it. Thank you very much. I’ll make sure to take great care of it.

Girl: You’re welcome and I hope so. Good Bye!

The girl walked away. James then went inside the Grand Hall. As he walked in, he saw Ame talking to Matt. He walked over to them.

James: Hey Matt. Hey Ame.

Ame: James! Where have you been? You ok?

James: Yea. I spent the night at the Onyx Trainer School. Florinia was tough but I was able to beat her for the Canopy Badge.

Ame: Congratulations! I knew you were able to do it! I’m so proud of you James!

Matt: Me too! You know, it’s been quite some time since we last trained together James.

James: I know. I was actually gonna ask you if we could train some more right now. Florinia asked me to take care some business in the Beryl and Jasper Wards and I wanna make sure I’m strong enough to take on whatever comes my way.

Ame: That’s not a bad plan there James. I’ll have the guy at the receptionist desk have the entrance ready for you 2. Good luck James and thanks for helping him Matt!

Matt: No problem Ame! So, how much training we looking to do here today?

James: Well, I literally just got a new Pokemon before I walked in here. So a lot. I actually plan on leaving tonight to go to the Jasper Ward.

Matt: Alrighty. I have an idea of how to do this then. Come on. Let’s go.

Matt and James went to the training room and started training their Pokemon. It took hours for Matt to help James to train his Pokemon but it was working. In the process of training, 2 of James’ Pokemon evolved. He now had a Swalot and a Granbull. 3 hours later and James Pokemon looked stronger than before.

Matt: Well hopefully, all that training helps you on your adventure.

James: I’m sure it will Matt. I can’t thank you enough. I’ll be on my way to the Jasper Ward right now. See you later. And tell Ame I said see you later.

Matt: Sure thing! Bye!

James left the Grand Hall and went to go to the Jasper Ward. As he reached the top of the stairs, he cracks in the ground. Buildings were cracked and broken. Some were split in half. He could see the vines coming out of the ground.

James: This can only be done by that PULSE Machine. Which means… PULSE Tangrowth.

Surprisingly, there was a building in front of him that was all in contact. He decided to go inside and investigate.

Police Chief: Hello. I am the Police Chief. How can I help you?

James: Well I don’t know. I only came in because this whole building is still in contact.

Police Chief: Yes. This building has survived the tragedy that still continues here. I wish all the others survived as well… Well I’m afraid that-

Just then, a Police Officer comes in and when he notices James, he gets all excited.

Police Officer: Sir! This is the man Florinia told me about! He helped with the whole mess in Obsidia Ward!

Police Chief: Hmm. Is this true sir?

James: Yes it is. Team Meteor is behind this and I know what’s causing the plant life to go out of control here.

Police Chief: Well, I wouldn’t normally allow citizens to walk around freely in all of this destruction and mess. However, since you helped save Obsidia, I will allow you to do as you please here. And, if you don’t mind, I’d like to ask you for a favor.

James: Sure. What is it that you need?

Police Chief: Since this mess started, we had to send out our Police Officers to see if citizens need help or to arrest the bad guys that are trying to take advantage of this whole travesty. But fewer and fewer have been coming back. I need you to find and bring back 5 of my missing Police Officers.

James: Of course I’ll help. Do you have any idea where they could be?

Police Chief: The only thing I can tell you is that there was 2 last seen here in the Jasper Ward and 3 were last seen in the Beryl Ward. I’m sorry that I’m not much help.

James: Nonsense. That’s plenty helpful. Well, I’m going to go see if I can fix this mess.

Police Chief: Good luck. Ohh yes. Before you leave, we’ve gotten reports of strange activity happening in Malchous Forest. If you can get past all the debris, it’s all the way to the left.

James: Alright. Thanks for the tip. Be seeing you now. Bye!

James left the police station and went to find the Malchous Forest. He had to go through destroyed buildings to get there. When he entered the forest, he saw a lot of Team Meteor grunts. He went through and battled a lot of them. When he got more to the middle of the forest, he could see the machine. The same machine that he saw in Obsidia Park. He finally reached the center and saw a man there.

Mysterious Man: Come closer.

James: Another 1 of these? What are you doing? What’s the purpose? And who are you?

Taka: I’m Taka and I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now but I am apart of Team Meteor. I’m not exactly sure what the point of doing this is, but I have orders. And as you also know this is the PULSE Machine. It basically amplifies a Pokemon’s abilities. As you can see with a Tangrowth, it makes it grow vines out of the ground and just cause chaos. But sometimes… I wish I could turn off this machine. It really takes a toll on the Pokemon’s body. But alas, I have orders and I must carry them out. Speaking of orders, would your name happen to be James?

James: Yes. Why?

Taka: I have orders to take care of you. To eliminate you. Don’t take offense to this. I’m simply following orders.

Taka: Hmph. You defeated me. Maybe the forest will turn back to normal. There’s another 1 of these things up in the Beryl Ward. Maybe you should go take care of that 1 too. I gotta leave now though. See ya.

Taka took off. James could see the forest was already reverting back to how it was supposed to be. As James was leaving, he saw a little girl.

Little girl: You beat all of them already!? Seriously! I run away from my dad so I can beat these bad dudes up and you just up and do it yourself?! Hmph! There’s more of them up at the Beryl Ward. Don’t go up there! I wanna take care of them! Salamence! Go!

Her Salamence appears out of its PokeBall. James gets shocked. How in the world does this little girl have a Salamence. He watched as she flew away on it. It was really late now. He knew he needed to get some sleep but he was too exhausted to make it back to the Grand Hall. As he was about to leave the forest, he noticed another path out of the forest. He followed it. He came across 2 buildings that were still somewhat in tact. He decided to investigate 1 of them. He went into the room and saw that it was mostly messy and damaged. He got on the elevator and the only number that worked was 5. The elevator went to the 5th floor. James walked into the room and explored. Surprisingly, the room was untouched. There was a nice comfy couch with a blanket and pillow on it. James decided he would have to sleep there for the night so he could rest up and be ready for whatever came up next. So he laid down on the couch, covered up and went to sleep.

James woke up the next day feeling refreshed. Despite sleeping in an abandoned building on someone elses couch, he surprisingly had a really good nights sleep. He got ready and took the elevator back down to the floor. He entered the forest again and went through the passageway he took to get to the forest. Then he went up and walked all the way to the right. He couldn’t believe all of the destruction he was seeing. There were a set of stairs going up and he saw a beaten up but still readable sign that said Beryl Ward. He walked up. To the right was a long bridge and some kind of building. To the left was more damaged buildings and he could see vines again.

James: The PULSE Machine. It must be around here somewhere.

He walked all the way to the left and entered a passageway. It looked like a jungle in there. As he was venturing through the jungle, he accidentally fell down a hole.

James: Ow! That hurt! Who put this hole here.

This reminded James of all the times him, Jessie and Meowth would always dig holes for Ash and his friends to fall down in in an attempt to capture his Pikachu. He looked and noticed Nuzleaf jumping down the whole. They circled him and each used Fake Out on him til he became unconscious. When he woke up, he was in a cage. He saw the Nuzleaf on the other side laughing at him.

James: Hey! Let me out!

The Nuzleaf laughed at him and then left. He tried to break free of the cage but it was no use. He was trapped. A half hour went by. He then heard footsteps. It was Fern!

Fern then came back after finishing his laughter.

James: What’s so funny?

Fern: What’s so funny? You’re trapped in a cage! Hahahaha. Ohh my Arceus. This is just awesome. Although, the Nuzleaf here are pretty crafty. So I suppose I’ll pity you a little less because of that.

James: Could you please just help me out of here?

Fern: Sure. The top dog and the cool cat can totally help you out… As long as you get n your hands and knees and beg me.

James: What? No! Just pull the damn lever!

Fern: You’re not gonna do it? Pfft. Fine. Later scrub.

James: Wait! Where are you going?! Come back here and help me out of here!

But Fern already was out of sight. James was furious at Fern. But, he couldn’t do anything but sit there. After a few minutes, a Chatot appears out of nowhere and pulls the lever.

Chatot: Release James! Release James! Chatot!

And then it ran away. James was confused.

James: Was… Was that Taka’s Chatot? Why would he save me?

James continued to venture through the woods. It was tiring but he had to try to put the PULSE Machine down. As James was looking around a corner. He saw the machine, Taka, ZEL and a hooded Team Meteor member. But before he could come up with a plan, Taka yelled out his name.

Taka: James, you’re here right? Come out here.

James: What?! How did you know I was there?

Taka: Well you were coming up to here to take care of this machine weren’t you?

James: Yes but-

Hooded Team Meteor Member: Who is this?

Zel: He’s the 1 who stopped the machine in Obsidia Park.

Taka: And also the 1 in Malchous Forest.

Hooded Team Meteor Member: It was this person huh? Hmm. A cat pretending to be a tiger prowling through the jungle to be the big hero. Pathetic.

James: I will stop this machine from damaging this Ward from anymore harm.

Hooded Team Meteor Member: Hmm. The Ward is too damaged to be saved. Do you really think it’s worthy of being saved? Do you think it’s gonna make any of the people here feel better? No. They will still feel the pain and suffering this machine has caused. You-

The little girl that James saw the other day flew down with her Salamence.

Taka: Hey. Isn’t that Heather?

ZeL: The Beryl Ward’s Gym Leader’s dau-

Hooded Team Meteor Member: I’m aware of who she is but why is she here?

Heather: I’m here to put a beat down on you bad people duh. Why else would I be here?

Hooded Team Meteor Member: Little girls like you should be playing in their room.

James: While I would agree with that statement, did you not notice the freaking Salamence she just rode on?! I’m pretty sure she could handle herself. Even if she is a little kid.

Heather: Stop calling me little!… But I appreciate the compliment. And that purple/blueish man is right. I can handle myself. So let’s go.

Hooded Team Meteor Member: Hmph. If you insist. ZEL. Taka. Take care of James. I’ll deal with her.

Taka & ZEL: Yes!

Taka: Well looks like you won James. Seems we couldn’t beat you, even with combined efforts. And you’ve taken down the machine too.

zEl: So… Does that mean that mean everything will go back to normal?

Taka: Yes. There’s no point in defending this area now. I’m gonna make myself scarce. You wanna come along?

zEl: Umm… Sure.

Taka and ZEL vanish. The Hooded Team Meteor Member returns his Pokemon.

Hooded Team Meteor Member: So they just run away? Pathetic. But, I suppose there’s no use in staying here. We’ve caused a lot of pain already. James. I’ll see you sometime.

The Hooded Team Meteor Member vanished. Heather ran upwards a bit trying to find him but was unable to. James came running up to her.

James: No luck in finding him huh?

Heather: No. Which sucks. I wanted to beat him up.

James: Well I appreciate the help. Honestly, if it wasn’t for you, I don’t think I would have been able to take on all of them.

Heather: No problem. Thanks for having confidence in me despite my age.

James: But of course. You have a Salamence! Anyone who can train and control a Salamence like that deserves some praise.

Heather: Heh. Well thanks James was it?

James: Ohh yes. I suppose you heard it from those guys but yes. My name is James.

Heather: And I’m Heather. Although, I guess you already knew that since they blurted out my name. Hey. I need you to do me a favor.

James: Well… Depends on what it is.

Heather: As I’m sure you’ve heard those jerks say, my dad is the Gym Leader here. I want you to beat him and take his badge.

James: Why would you want that?

Heather: He doesn’t let me do anything fun. I always have to be such a sweet and innocent girl and listen to his stupid rules.

James: Well I mean he’s just being a father and-
Heather: No! When I say he won’t let me do anything fun, I mean anything. He’s so worried about me getting hurt in some way. I don’t know why. Maybe I remind him of my mom or something.

James: Ohh… I take it your mom is-

Heather: Yea. She’s dead… Apparently, right after I was born, she died.

James: Ohh. I’m sorry about that.

Heather: It’s ok. At least… I’m ok. I don’t think my dad is though.

James: I can only imagine how that must feel.

Heather: Yea… I swear 1 of these days, I’m just gonna leave and never come back. I don’t know if I can handle much more of his “rules.”

James: Well… I don’t know what to say.

Heather: You don’t have to say a thing. Just beat him. I’ll love it.

Heather called out her Salamence and got on top of it.

Heather: I’m sure I’ll see you around James. See ya!

Heather flew away on her Salamence. James found the closest PokeCenter and healed up his Pokemon as well as rest himself up. When he left the Center, it was starting to become evening. He decided he would look for the Police Officers now. He walked down to the Jasper Ward and started his search.

Btw, I've realized I never really added James' Pokemon's personalities. Like how they act out of their PokeBall, their quirks, etc. Should I include those in the next Episode update and continue with each new capture/evolution? Let me know.

James: If I remember correctly, the Police Chief said there are 2 Police Officers lost in the Jasper Ward and 3 in the Beryl Ward. I wonder where they- Huh?

James heard a noise come from between 2 buildings, he went to investigate. There, he found the 1st Police Officer on the ground.

James: Hey! Are you ok?

Police Officer #1: Huh? What’s going on? Hey. You! How did you get back here?! The plants! They’re-

James: I took care of the problem. The plants are back to normal.

Police Officer #1: Really? Ohh thank Arceus. A vine came up from the ground in the middle there and I couldn’t escape. I was here for such a long time, I must have passed out. Thanks for saving me. I’m gonna head back to the Police Station.

The Police Officer left. Now there was only 4 left. James searched a lot of the Jasper Ward. He then searched in Malchous Forest. No cops. He then remembered the night he stayed in the Jasper Ward that there were 2 buildings still standing. He never went into the other 1. He decided to go there. As he peered inside, he saw a Team Meteor Grunt keeping a Police Officer prisoner in the corner of the room. James sneaked in and close to the Team Meteor Grunt. Then James surprised them.

James: I choose you Roselia! Use Leech Seed on the Team Meteor Grunt!

Team Meteor Grunt: What?! No!

The Leech Seed wraps around the Grunt and the energy starts sapping out of his body til he became very weak. The Police Officer then put him in handcuffs.

Police Officer #2: Thank you. I was seeing if people needed help when this person here said someone in here needed help. I followed him and he snatched my Pokemon and forced me to stay here for days. He’s gonna spend some time in jail. Thank you again sir.

James: No problem.

The Police Officer then walked the arrested Team Meteor Grunt to the Police Station.

James: Well that was 2 in Jasper. Time to head back to Jasper.

James traveled back to Jasper and headed into the woods. He remembered and cave he didn’t go into while he was there. He made it inside the cave and looked around. He saw a familiar cage inside the cave and of course, there was a Police Officer inside. He saw a lever and pulled it, releasing the Officer.

Police Officer #3: Thank you so much for saving me!

James: No problem. Let me guess. Nuzleaf trapped you in a hole, used Fake Out on you til you passed out and then threw you in here right?

Police Officer #3: How did you-

James: It happened to me except the cage was outside.

Police Officer #3: Ohh. Well in any case, thank you for saving me. I’ll go back to the Police Station now.

The Police Officer left and so did James. He remembered and building that was by itself near where he battled Taka & ZEL. He went there and saw a Team Meteor Grunt beating up a Police Officer. James sent out Luxio just in case he needed it. Both of them sneaked inside.

Team Meteor Grunt: You Police Officers are so Arceus stupid! You believe anyone that says they need help or someone else needs help. Well who’s gonna help you huh?!

James then jumped on the Grunt.

James: Now Luxio! Use Bite and then Spark!

Luxio did as it was told. But it seemed like it had no effect on the grunt.

Team Meteor Grunt: Hehehe. Strong Pokemon you got there man. I’ve grown a resistance to Pokemon attacks though. Seems like you have too though.

The grunt then through James off of him and pushed the Luxio in front of the Police Officer.

Team Meteor Grunt: Time for your Pokemon to learn a lesson!

James: NOOOOOOO!

The Meteor Grunt clenched his fist and started to move it fast towards Luxio. James ran as fast as he could towards his Pokemon. Luxio was sure it would be punched so it closed its eyes.

James: Ugh! Ooo. You’re gonna… Ugh. You’re gonna have to do better th-than that if you- Ouch. If you wanna stop me.

Team Meteor Grunt: Hmph. What a nuisance!

Luxio opened its eyes and saw James getting beaten up. It started to tear up and get angry.

Luxio: LUUUUUUUXIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Team Meteor Grunt: What’s that?!

James: Lu… Luxio…?

Luxio was so mad and wanted to protect its trainer, it went into an ultimate, mighty rage. Sparks of electricity started coming off of its body and it started to glow.

James: Heh heh. My Lu-Luxio doesn’t like it when I-I’m hurt. Ow. Ugh.

Luxio then started to evolve. In a matter of minutes, it was not a powerful but also pissed off Luxray.

James again jumped onto the Team Meteors back.

James: Luxray! I know you hate seeing me hurt but I need you to use spark on this guy right now! I’ll be alright!

Luxray reluctantly did use Spark but to the full power this time.

Team Meteor Grunt and James: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! URRRRRRRRRRRGH!

Finally, the Team Meteor Grunt was subdued and knocked out. James seemed like he was knocked out but started to come to. The Police Officer, who watched the whole thing unfold, came over to make sure James was ok.

Police Officer #4: You ok sir?

James: Y-yea. I’ll be fine. Luxray… If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know what would have happened. Thank you.

Luxray: Lux! Luxray!

Luxray licked James to make him feel better.

James: Are you gonna be able to make it back to the Police Station?

Police Officer #4: He did a pretty bad number on my legs. I can walk on them but not for long.

James: Well, your Police Chief asked me to find all of the Officers. You’re the 4th I’ve found. I just need 1 more.

Police Officer #4: Sounds like you intend to continue your search. I maybe able to help you out with that. Did you check out the library yet?

James: No. I didn’t even know there was 1.

Police Officer #4: I know where it is. Me and my partner were checking the perimeters to see if people needed help. I heard that person yelling for help so we agreed I’d go help him and he’d to to the library.

James: Thanks for the tip sir. Luxray. Let this man ride on your back. We’re gonna go to the library before we head back to the Police Station.

Luxray: Lux! Luxray! Lux!

James helped the Police Officer onto Luxray and everyone walked to the library thanks to the Police Officer’s guidance. Once they reached the library, they went inside. The place looked destroyed. Debris everywhere. Cracks in the floors and walls.

James: Hello?!

Police Officer #4: You here buddy!?

No reply. They went deeper into the library. James walked into a room and saw a Growlithe peer inside a hole. He was worried that something dangerous could be in there.

James: Listen, I know you’re a Police Officer and all that but you’re more injured than I am and I have Pokemon to protect me. I’ll go in by myself. My Luxray will protect you if something happens.

Police Officer #4: Alright. But be careful.

James slowly walked back inside and walked up to the Growlithe. It was making him miss his Growlithe back at his Nanny and Pop Pop’s house. He walked up to it.

James: Hey friend. Everything alright?

The Growlithe turned and growled at James.

James: Hey hey. Don’t be scared. I’m here to help.

James knelt down and lightly petted the Growlithe. After a few pets, the Growlithe trusted him. The Growlithe was trying to make James look down the hole from before. James peered down. He didn’t see anything at 1st but when he focused, he could see a body down there and they had a Police Officer’s uniform on.

James: Oh… Ohh my. Growlithe is that your partner?

Growlithe shook its head yes. James hugged it.

James: I’m sorry buddy but… I don’t think he made it.

The Growlithe looked really sad which made James sad.

James: Come on buddy. We’ll take you back to the Police Station.

The Growlithe sadly complied and they both went out of the room.

Police Officer #4: Hey. That’s my buddy’s Growlithe.

James: I’m sorry but… He’s gone. It looks like he fell down a hole in the ground. Probably swallowed him underneath his feet and didn’t realize it til it was too late.

Police Officer #4: He was a really good friend. And now, his Pokemon doesn’t have a his partner anymore.

James: Well… Come on. Let’s go back to the Police Station. They’ll fix us up.

James, Luxray, the Police Officer that was riding Luxray and the Growlithe walked out of the library. It was starting to get dark out. By the time they made it to the Police Station, it was completely dark outside. They went inside.

Police Chief: My god! What happened to you 2?

Police Officer #4: I was being attacked by a Team Meteor Grunt but this person here jumped in and helped. Although, the grunt got a good pounding on him too.

Police Chief: Get these 2 a bed and help them recover from their injuries!

James: Also, this Growlithe’s partner didn’t make it. I saw the body inside the library down a hole.

Police Chief: That’s unfortunate… We’ll keep this Growlithe here til we recruit a new Police Officer.

James: Good.

2 beds were rolled in and both the Police Officer and James were put on them. James had to get a couple of stitches and bandaged up but that was it. The Police Officer, on the other hand, had a cast made for his leg and had to use crutches to get around. The Police Chief came into the room and talked to James.

Police Chief: Well thanks to you, all of my officers were returned. Well… Almost. Anyways, I don’t know how to thank you but you did amazing.

James: You don’t have to thank me. It was just the right thing to do.

Police Chief: Well I have good news for you. Because of your brave actions today, you are now an official member of the Police Force!

James: Thank you but you don’t have to-

Police Chief: I insist. It’s the least I can do for you finding my officers.

James: Well thanks. Hey. Would you mind if I stayed the night here? I need to go somewhere in the morning and I can’t make it back to the Grand Hall in my current condition.

Police Chief: Of course. You nay stay here anytime you feel like it. I’ll leave you alone to get some rest.

It didn’t take long after the Police Chief left for James to fall asleep.

James made it back to Shelly’s place. As James was walking up the stairs, he could hear Victoria explaining everything that happened in the cave to Shelly.

James: Hey. I made it back.

Victoria: Good. I’m glad you made it back here. I just explained everything that happened to us to Shelly.

Shelly: I’m seriously sorry you 2 had to go through that.

James: It’s no problem really. The situation is settled. For the moment at least.

Victoria: Yes but still… Shelly is still really upset and Idk if we can do anything. Except…

James: Do you have an idea?

Victoria: Well there’s an orphanage/psychiatric center close near here. Maybe you can get the doctor there and see if he can help Shelly in some way.

Shelly: Is something… wrong with me?

Victoria: Of course not sweetie. But you experienced something very traumatic and you may need some help for this.

Shelly: Well… If you think so.

James: I’ll be back as soon as I can.

James left and went in search for the orphanage/psychiatric place. It didn’t take long to find though. It was the biggest building in the ward. As James was about to walk in, a girl in green clothing and pink hair rushed out of the door and ran into him.

Pink-haired girl: Ohh. I’m sorry. I must get going. Finally.

The girl left in a hurry.

James: Hmm. I wonder why she left in such a rush.

James walked in and was greeted by a hyper active little girl.

Hyper active little girl: Hi! Ohh. You’re not Laura. Did you see her? She just left.

James: I did. She-

Hyper active little girl: She was able to leave here today. Which is great. The doctor here isn’t all that nice. Ohh yea! I forgot to introduce myself and everyone else here! My name is Anna and this is my Jirachi, Nostra. Nostra says hello! This boy over here is my twin brother Noel and that’s his Cleffa, Nomos!

Noel: Ummm right. They’re just dolls Anna but sure. Nomos says hello, I suppose.

Anna: Don’t lie Noel! Ohh. And this person over here is Charlotte! Ignore her burned scars though. She still looks beautiful!

Charlotte: What are you talking about Anna? I don’t have burnt scars.

Anna: But you… Ohh alright. I won’t mention them again.

Charlotte: Sure. Thanks Anna. Hey. What’s your name dude?

James: My name is James.

Charlotte: Cool. Well James, Laura is my sister. She’s also apart of the Elite 4.

James: Really?!

Charlotte: Yea. And I’m a Gym Leader.

James: For real?

Charlotte: Hell yea. Awesomeness just happens to run in our family. Laura was able to leave today. Which is good.

James: Why was she allowed to leave.

Noel: She turned 18. Once you turn 18, you’re allowed to leave here.

Anna: And trust me. You DON’T wanna be here! But you’re an old man. So you don’t have to worry about that.

James: HEY! I am not an old man! I am only-

Anna: By the way, how come you’re here?

James: I- Ohh yea. My friend experienced something really awful and my friend recommended the doctor to help.

Anna: Ahh. Well I’m sorry about your friend. But trust me. You DON’T want her to see the do- Wait. He’s here!

Everyone looked towards the door. A man in a white coat walked in. James immediately got a weird feeling about him.

Dr. Sigmund: Hello. I am called Dr. Sigmund Connel but most everyone just calls me Doctor. So, what brings you here today?

James: Well… I came here because… Uhh…

Anna: He heard that there was Gym Leaders here and wanted to try to win their badges.

Dr. Sigmund: Hmm. It’s true. We do have some highly gifted people here. However, I must inform you that you are not allowed to challenge them yet as our battle field is under construction. But… You must have some confidence in yourself if you believe you can take on the Gym Challenge, yes?

James: I’m very confident.

Dr. Sigmund: Hmm. I am curious about your power. Orderly? Battle this man so I may observe his skills.

Orderly: Yes sir.

James quickly beat the orderly. The kids and the Doctor all looked impressed with James and his Pokemon.

Dr. Sigmund: Very interesting. You indeed have some impressive battling skills. However, like I said before, the battling arena is still being set up so you will have to leave until then.

Anna: Well that sure sucks. It was nice meeting you James!

James: Yea but-

Anna: Nostra can sense something pretty terrible happened to your friend. Tell her to look out for the 1 who’s really hurt by this. If she does that, she won’t have time to be sad herself then.

James: Hmm. Thanks. I’ll-

Dr. Sigmund: What are you 2 blathering about over there?

Anna: Nothing. Bye James!

Anna then pushes James out of the door and he lands on the ground.

James: Wow. For such a little girl, she sure is strong.

James got up, dusted himself off and started to walk towards Shelly’s place again. But he started to think about everything that happened over the past couple of days. The Jasper and Beryl Wards being destroyed. A man threw his life away by killing himself. There was a bombing. And now, it seems like there’s a strange doctor to worry about. This made James somewhat upset. He remembered back to when he found all the policemen. He remembered about the fallen officer’s Growlithe. It made him think of his own Growlithe back at his Nanny and Pop Pop’s house. He turned around and rushed to the PokeCenter to make a quick phone call.

When James got done with his phone call, he started his walk back towards Victoria and Shelly. All the way back, he had a huge smile on his face. He reached Shelly’s place and went upstairs. Victoria looked delighted to see him but then got a puzzled look over her face.

Victoria: You’re back! Umm… Where’s the doctor?

James: Well… It’d take a while to explain but someone told me to tell Shelly something.

Shelly: What… did they say?

James: She said to tell you her to look out for the 1 who’s really hurt by all of this.

Shelly: Yea… Yea you’re right. Heather’s the 1 who lost her father. What am I so sad about? I’m sorry Victoria. You came here for my Gym badge right?

James: Wait. YOU’RE a Gym Leader?

Victoria: Yea. She’s a Bug Type Gym Leader.

Shelly: Haven’t you seen the sign outside?

James: Haha. Well with everything that’s been happening, I haven’t noticed.

Shelly: I don’t blame you. Things have been getting out of control lately. But would you like to have that battle now Victoria?

Victoria: No thanks Shelly. I think it’s too soon to do that right now. But James might want to?

James: I mean… Only if you’re up for it Shelly.

Shelly: Sure! I’ll be waiting at the battle field. See you there James!

Shelly leaves to prepare for her battle with James. James then goes downstairs and is about to enter the other room until Victoria runs down the stairs and stops James.

Victoria: James wait!

James: What is it Victoria?

Victoria: Just… Do you really have to do this?

James: Do what? You mean battle Shelly for the badge?

Victoria: Yea. I mean… She’s been through so much and I just think there’s more important stuff to do than a Gym Battle.

James: But she just said-

Victoria: I know she did but I just don’t think it’s right. Or at least not a right time to do it.

James: Well what do you plan to do? She’s waiting for me at the battle field and I still intend to go and battle her for the Gym Badge.

Victoria: Well…

Victoria grabs a PokeBall from her waist.

James: Come on Victoria. Don’t do this.

Victoria: I’m sorry James. This is me trying to stop you.

Victoria throws out her PokeBall and out comes a Scraggy. James grabs a PokeBall from his waist and looks at it for a moment before speaking.

James: I intended to have your 1st battle against Shelly but… You’ll make your debut now! Go Growlie!

James throws the PokeBall and out comes the Growlithe. James’ pet from when he was younger. Growlithe runs towards James and licks James’ face in excitement.

James: Haha. Down girl down. We have a battle to win. This is your 1st time in a battle friend but I think you’’ do great.

Victoria: Something tells me you 2 have known each other for a VERY long time. While I hate to break this beautiful reunion, I will still try to stop you from battling Shelly. It’s too soon!

James: Bring it then!

After the battle ended, Victoria looked to the ground with a sad look on her face.

Victoria:… Don’t lose to her or all of this will be for nothing. Understand?

James nodded his head yes.

Victoria: Good. I’ll be going now. Good bye James.

Victoria then leaves the building. James then explores through the building looking for the battling arena. At long last, James finds it and sees Shelly at the other side of the field.

Shelly: There you are. What happened?

James: Well Victoria thought it was too soon to have you battle me for the Gym Badge and she tried to stop me and-

Shelly: Ohh… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause trouble between you 2.

James: Nonsense. We’ll be fine.

Shelly: Alright. This ought to be fun. But…

James: Is everything ok?

Shelly: Yea. I’m just remembering home.

James: Where’s your home at?

Shelly: Believe it or not, I used to live in the Johto Region. I lived in Azalea Town at the time and believe it or not, my big brother is the Bug Type Gym Leader there. His name is Bugsy.

James: Wait. Really? That’s incredible! Why did you come here though?

Shelly: Well, I always tried to make my brother proud but no matter what I did, he just never seemed to care what I did or how well I did it. So, I just up and left and came here. I don’t regret making that decision though.

James: I understand. Really. Sometimes, you just gotta get out of the life you have at the time and try to have a better 1.

Shelly: Exactly. So, shall we get started?

James: Indeed! Let’s battle!

Shelly: Heh. My brother wouldn’t care about the outcome of this battle. Or if he did, he would belittle me for how I lost.

James: Hey. Don’t think like that. You did outstandingly well. I didn’t know if I was gonna win that 1 or not.

Shelly: Haha. Thanks James. That made me feel better somewhat. Well you beat me. Here’s your badge. It’s the Cocoon Badge!

James: Excellent! I now have 3 badges in my possession!

Shelly: So what do you intend to do now?

James: I’m not sure. I don’t know where the next Gym is so.

Shelly: You think I can ask you for a favor?

James: Sure. What is it Shelly?

Shelly: Well, every leader has a reserve leader. Well, I’m sure you’ve heard this thing at least once so I’ll cut to the chase. Since Heather’s dead… Well… You know… We need to let the reserve Leader know that he/she is up. But I don’t know if the Grand Hall knows about it yet. Do you think you can go there and tell Ame what happened?

James: Sure. No problem! I haven’t seen her in a long time anyways.

Shelly: Great! Thanks James. I’ll see you sometime. Bye!

James: Later Shelly!

James left the gym and headed for the Grand Hall.

I have an announcement! So I'm writing Episode 18 right now and I was going to have James and this other person have their motto like James and Cain do. But I realized that James and this other character aren't really that connected or anything sparked between them so I won't be doing that with those 2. But now, with every new Episode, I will be having a new listing called Team Motto Decisions! Basically, with every important character we meet, depending on how they get along in that episode with James, they will have a motto together. I will also include how close James and the characters are or how far apart they are. I'll use Cain and Fern for example and give you all a little preview of how it's gonna look.

So yes. Obviously, there's more important characters but I'll do that when Episode 18 is all done being written out. Also, just so you all know, even if they do have a motto with each other, depending on their friendship levels, they could always stop if they go from being best friends to disliking each other. And vice versa. So it could be Cain and James that break up their motto and Fern and James to make up their own motto. Although somehow, I doubt those 2 scenarios will happen. Haha. Hopefully, you all like this new addition. I know I am. And yes. It's prob gonna repeat itself a lot but don't worry. If there's a change in the friendship, before I put the name of the character, it will say CHANGE! Then that way, you all can read through it and know something is changed about the relationship between that character and James. Hope you all enjoy this in Episode 18 and beyond!

As James was walking down towards the Grand Hall, he heard a commotion by the alleyway. James went to check it out. But all that it was is 2 red headed boys goofing off. But as he looked further into the alleyway, he saw 3 other red headed boys but the 1 at the end was dressed different than the rest. The 2 at the entrance spotted James and rushed up to him.

Red Headed Boy #1: Hey! Who are you?! What are you doing here?!

James: I was just-

Red Headed Boy #2 - Are you spying on us for the Aqua Gang?!

James: What? No! I’m just-

Red Headed Boy #1: Get ready! The both of us are gonna beat you down!

They challenged James to a double battle but it didn’t take longer than a minute for James to beat their Pokemon.

James: Listen! I only came here because I heard a noise come from here and I was just checking it out! I don’t even know who the Aqua Gang are! Good Arceus!

Red Headed Boy #2: Ohh… Well why didn’t you say-

James: You 2 kept interrupting me!

Red Headed Boy #1: Ohh… Sorry about that.

James: It’s fine I suppose but who is the Aqua Gang?

Red Headed Boy #2: They’re our rivals. We’re the Magma Gang.

James: That explains why all of you are wearing red and have red hair. Ohh yea. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is James.

Nihil: My name is Nihil and this dude right here is Kriz.

Kriz: What’s up dude? You know, you seem like a strong guy. Why don’t you meet our leader and maybe possibly joining our gang?

Nihil: Shockingly, that’s not a bad idea Kriz. Here’s your ticket to getting into the gang James.

Kriz: Wait. We’re using tickets now? Since when?

Nihil: And I take back thinking that you were somewhat smart.

Kriz: Where’s my ticket?!

Nihil: Right here Kriz! Admit 1 to Dumbass Town and yours never expires.

Kriz: Where’s that at?

James: Ummm… Guys?

Nihil: Just move so the dude can meet the leader.

Kriz: Fine but can you give me the ticket afterwards?

Nihil: Ugh.

James quickly walks past the 2. They were starting to give him a headache. The other 2 red headed boys looked at him as James was walking towards the leader. They stood face to face. The leader looked up and down at James.

James: Umm… Hi?

Maxwell: The name is Maxwell. I see you were able to beat Nihil and Kriz. That dude over there is Break and that’s Darm.

James: Hey guys.

Break: Hey.

Darm: Wanna know what Darm stands for? Stands for Darmani-

Maxwell: Shut up Darm.

Darm: Sorry boss.

James: Well, alrighty then. I’m James.

Maxwell: Nice to meet you James. So have you decided if you want to join our gang or not. I can tell that even though you dress fancy, you’ve been down this road before somehow.

James: Well… I used to be part of Team Rocket but that part of my life is over. I just wanna be a good guy and-

Maxwell: Hey. You will be a good guy if you join us. We’re like Robin Hood. We take from the evil and give to the poor. However, that goes. Anyways, you wanna join us?

James thought about it for a moment. He did miss being in Team Rocket somewhat. That part of him would never leave his body. But this gang sounded like it was trying to do good.

James: You know what? I think I will join you.

Maxwell: Excellent! Hey. Come meet us at the abandoned building in Lapis Ward. You know where that is?

James: I don’t think so.

Maxwell: It’s the building to the left. Can’t miss it. See you there.

Maxwell, Darm and Break leave the alleyway to go to the building. As James goes to leave the alleyway, he notices Kriz and Nihil standing near the entrance.

Nihil: Seems like you joined the gang. Nice to have you on our side James.

James: Thanks. But how come you didn’t leave with your gang just now?

Kriz: Maxwell gave us orders to protect our hideout in case some of the gang members of the Aqua Gang try to come in here. By the way James, did you get your ticket? What does it look like?

Nihil: Kriz, I swear to Arceus. Run James. Before you stay and talk to him for 1,000 hours.

James: Alrighty then. Hold down the fort guys. We’ll be back.

James leaves the hideout and goes in search of the building Maxwell was talking about. It doesn’t take long for James to find it. He goes inside and sees the rest of the Magma Gang inside.

Maxwell: Ahh James. I see you found this place with little trouble. That’s good. Now, to inform you in on what’s going down tonight. We’ll be going to an old lady’s house to rob her of a Pokemon that the Aqua Gang intend on stealing for themselves. Her name is Ms. Craudburry.

James: Stealing? That doesn’t sound too good.

Darm: Trust me. She’s not a nice person herself.

Break: Yea. This 1 time I was just working retail and she comes in and just starts complaining on how dusty the shop was. I mean seriously. We had just-

Maxwell: Break.

Break: Sorry boss.

Maxwell: Anyways, it’s time to move. We’ll see you there James.

James: Right.

Everyone leaves to go to Ms. Craudburry’s house. They barge in and Darm holds her in place so she can’t do anything.

Ms. Craudburry: Someone help! These hooligans barged into my house and are trying to steal from me!

Darm: Shut up you old hag. James, go into the next room. The gang needs your help.

James listens and heads up to the room above. He encounters 1 of the Aqua gang members and enters a battle with him. In no time, James beats him. James then heads up more and encounters Maxwell and Break holding off Aqua Gang Members.

Maxwell: James! Take care of the last member of Aqua! If you beat them, we’ll be victorious!

James: I’m on it!

James goes down and encounters the Aqua Gang Member. The battle begins but again, James wipes the floor with him. The others battling Maxwell and Break stop their battle.

Maxwell: Come on guys! James got it! Let’s scram before the po-po comes! Better luck next time Archer!

Archer: Hmph. So you recruited a new member huh? Well aren’t you lucky. Aqua Gang, retreat for now!

Maxwell: Meet us back at the base James! And nice job!

Everyone leaves. James is the last 1 out and he runs for it back to the Magma Gang hideout. When he gets there, Kriz and Nihil congratulate James on a job well done and tell him the boss wants to see him. James goes up to meet Maxwell.

Maxwell: You did excellent James. It seems we made the right call to have you join the gang.

James: It was actually kind of fun to be back in a gang right now.

Maxwell: Of course it is. It’s always fun! By the way, you can keep that Pokemon. Not like we have much use for it anyways.

James: Actually, I don’t want it. I knwo you guys don’t really use Water Type Pokemon but maybe you can give it to a person that will take care of it right?

Maxwell: Hmm. That’s really not a bad idea James. Good thinking.

James: Nice. Well, I have to get back to the Grand Hall.

Maxwell: Alright. And hey. If you ever need us, the Magma Gang has your back.

James: Thanks. And if you need me again, just tell me.

James then leaves the hideout and heads for the Grand Hall.

Team Motto Decisions!

Ame - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting back in Kanto, James and Ame have become really close friends. Thanks to Ame, James has his own room in the Reborn Region inside the Grand Hall. While they are close friends, Ame is a really important person and always busy. So there's really no time for them 2 to hang out. But they value any time they have talking to each other.

Cain - MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Cain instantly hit it off. They basically are best friends. They've only met once after that but that encounter seems to have strengthen their friendship with James totally in love with Cain's singing even during a dangerous situation. It seems that there is nothing that can damage their friendship but only time will tell.

Victoria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Victoria have a good friendship. While it's not on the same level as Cain, these 2 are very good friends. They've met twice after their encounter at the Grand Hall. The 1st was in the Obsidia Ward. Victoria's concern for James' safety caused her to battle James in an attempt to have him not be in danger. She lost though and basically forced herself to have faith in him. Their other encounter is when the whole Corey situation happened. James helping Victoria with Shelly really increased their friendship level as well as him saving her from Aster & Eclipse. However, their friendship has hit a rocky road as Victoria was against the idea of James battling Shelly after she just got over, or at least attempting to try to get over, Corey's death.

Julia - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Julia and James were just acquaintances. Julia and her "boomings" at 1st kind of made James nervous around her but after spending some time around her, he somewhat kind of got into it as well. They have met twice since their encounter at the explosion of the train station. The 1st was when Julia invited James to come to help her, Fern and Florinia to go investigate the Power Plant. While they didn't interact with each other much, she did help him feel better when he started to feel it was kind of his fault that the train station bombing happened. They also kind of grew closer when James decided to blow up the door to get into the next room. The other time they met is when James went to Julia's gym to challenge her for her gym. Although she lost the battle, that didn't damage their friendship. They appear to have a regular friendship.

Fern - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James despises Fern. In fact, he's the only person James has been calling a twerp much like he did to Ash back in his Team Rocket days. James has met Fern a total of 4 times since their 1st meeting. James seemed to tolerate Fern when they teamed up back at the Power Plant situation. In fact, James somewhat forgave him for being a twerp, although he didn't really say it to Fern. However, since their encounter at the Onyx Trainer School, James went back to hating him. Their 3rd encounter really made James pissed off at Fern as not only did Fern tell James to beg if he wanted to be freed, but when he wouldn't oblige, Fern actually left James trapped in the cage. But the final straw was when James witnessed a suicide and Fern was just a complete jerk about it. Showed no emotion about a person taking his own life. James completely hates Fern now and it seems there is nothing Fern can do to have James reverse his thoughts about him.

Florinia - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James wasn't sure how to think of Florinia. He always tried to be friendly towards her but she showed almost no emotion. They have met many times after the Power Plant incident but Florinia remained unemotional and James was still feeling awkward around her. That is, until around the last time they saw each other. James passed the test getting all 8 answers right which made Florinia kinda get closer with James in their friendship. Afterwards, while James was resting, as well as his Pokémon, Florinia asked him for a favor and after he accepted, for the 1st time, she smiled at him somewhat, showing some kind of emotion for the 1st time in front of him. Their friendship seems to have just gotten lifted off the ground.

Amaria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Amaria and James have a good friendship. They only hung around each other during the plant coming to life in Obsidia Ward but during that time, they formed a friendship. While James made Amaria confused about how to feel about him when Cain was around, she eventually figured he was a good guy and just liked to have fun. They grew closer when Amaria let him stay over night on her boat and also saving her from the vines that were strangling her and Florinia. Although they haven't seen each other since then, it is assumed that they are good friends.

Taka - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Taka and James are really only acquaintances but James somewhat respects Taka. Although they only met twice, James has somewhat of respect for Taka since he can see that he doesn't seem to like doing what he's doing. He still has some hatred towards him though simply for being apart of Team Meteor.

Corey - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James feels sorry for Corey. When he found out Corey was apart of Team Meteor, he was really angry at him and hated him for a short time. But since Corey committed suicide and James learned more about him, he understands him more and respects him.

Heather - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Heather have a pretty good friendship. Although, you wouldn't know that if you saw their 1st meeting. Heather was angry at James for beating up Team Meteor. But then the 2nd time they meet up, they team up somewhat to take on the masked Team Meteor Grunt, Taka and ZEL, making their friendship starting to blossom. After taking them out, Heather feels comfortable telling James about her family. When they last meet, she learns, thanks to James, that her father is part of Team Meteor. She respects James for treating her like a grown up and telling her the truth, even though it somewhat hurts. Their friendship seems to be increasing.

Shelly - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, Shelly and James have a strong friendship. When they 1st met, Shelly was all upset about the death of Heather's father. James tries everything he can to make Shelly happy and eventually, he does. At least, somewhat. Shelly apologizes for any friction she may have caused between James and Victoria which shows him that she cares about him. She feels comfortable telling him about her past. She gladly gives James the badge after his victory. Their friendship seems to keep growing as time goes on.

Anna - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Anna have a weird friendship connection. Also, a very small 1. When they 1st meet, Anna talks all crazy. Her and Noel dolls, burn scars that actually aren't on Charlotte. James is a bit weirded out by her. But by the end of his visit at the orphanage/psychiatric ward, he's happy to know what to tell Shelly to make her feel better thanks to Anna.

Noel - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Noel don't really have a connection. Barely could be called acquaintances. Noel doesn't talk to James much and neither does James to Noel. But they don't hate each other.

Charlotte - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Since their 1st meeting, James and Charlotte have a tiny friendship started. Well, at least James to Charlotte. In a weird way, Charlotte reminds James of Jessie. This makes him hope they can become closer friends in the near future.

James was at the front door of the Grand Hall. He was actually looking forward to talking with Ame. Although, the subject at hand wasn’t the best to talk about but still. He missed her. But as he approached the counter, he saw a certain green haired boy that just made him super annoyed. James walked up to the receptionist desk and was met with Ame and Fern.

James: Hey Ame! And hey… Fern. What’s up?

Fern: I’m here to tell Ame about what happened to the Poison Type Gym Leader.

Ame: You know, I was worried about him for this exact reason. It’s so sad that he took his own life.

James: Yea… I actually saw it happen. I tried to stop him but…

Ame: Ohh my god. Are you ok?

James: Yea. I think I’ve gotten through it. I’ve been helping someone else to get through it and-

Fern: Tch. Hey. I bet you didn’t know but I’m the reserve Gym Leader if something ever happens to Florinia.

James: Cool.

Fern: Hmph. So how you doing with the Gym challenge? I just got my 3rd badge not long ago. The leader seemed like she was about to fall to her knees and cry. I don’t know about what but whatever. A win is a win. Even if it’s easy. Haha.

James: Do you always have to be such a twerp, twerp? She was getting over the death of-

Fern: You mistake me for someone who cares. Anyways, I need to go off to the wasteland.

James: Wasteland?

Fern: Yea. It’s closed off and you can only access it with a key and guess what. I have 1. It’s where the new Poison Type Gym Leader is.

James: Where did you get the key?

Fern: Do you HONESTLY think I’d tell y- Wait. You know what? Fine. Battle me. If you win, I’ll tell you.

James: This will be easy. Looks like I’ll be knowing how you got the key soon.

James: What did I tell you Fern. Easy win.

Fern: Shut up loser!

James: Ok seriously Fern. We have battled a total of 3 times including this 1 and none of them and I mean NONE OF THEM have you beaten me. Heck. None of my Pokemon have even fainted to yours except for once and that wasn’t even an attacking move of your Pokemon. It was from taking damage from poison! So stop calling me a loser when you’re the 1 that keeps losing to me!

James didn’t realize til he got done with his rant but he was actually yelling at Fern really loud in the Grand Hall. They both looked around the Grand Hall. Everyone was staring at them. James could tell Fern seemed embarrassed but honestly, didn’t care.

Fern: Whatever. I got the key from some dude wearing all purple and stuff. Fishnets too. What a freak.

James: Hey! Cain is not a freak!

Fern: Heh. Of course you would know him. Anyways, he said something about hanging around Beryl Cemetery. Actually, him and the new Poison Gym Leader are sister and brother. And with that, I’m out. Later scrub!

Fern then walked out of the Grand Hall. James wondered why Cain would be at the Cemetery of all places. James decided he’d go right to the Cemetery and make sure he’s buddy was alright. It was evening when James left the Grand Hall and by the time he got there, it was nighttime. James looked all over and finally found Cain by 2 crosses.

James: Hey Cain!

Cain: Hmm. Ohh James! What’s up hun? I didn’t expect you to be here.

James: You think we should uhh… You know.

Cain: Haha. I would but we’re in a cemetery right now so I think for right now, not an appropriate time to do that.

James: I get it. I think it’s the right call. But actually, I came up here because Fern told me that you were up here and you gave him the key to the wasteland to fight the new Poison Type Gym Leader. Which I guess is your sister Aya.

Cain: Haha. I should have figured that’s why you were here. I don’t really like people having the key to get there. My sister is all like grrr and stuff.

James: Ahh. I see. By the way, why are you here? Is everything ok?

Cain: Yea. I heard what happened to the last leader and I just came up here to pay respects. I heard he left behind a daughter. Or that she ran away actually.

James: Yea…

Cain: You ok James?

James: Yes. I just remembered the whole ordeal.

Cain: What do you mean?

James: I witnessed Corey throw himself off the bridge.

Cain: Ohh my Arceus James! That’s horrible!

James: It was at 1st. But I’ve gotten over it mostly. He actually put me in charge of looking after his daughter. And also to protect a ring she has with her.

Cain: Hmm. That’s weird. Why would he say that?

James: Team Meteor is after some kind of keys and that maybe 1 of them.

Cain: That’s interesting. But hey. You came here for the key right?

James: Yea. Can I please have it?

Cain: Hmm. How about a battle 1st? It’s been a while since we last battled.

James: Alright! You’re on!

Cain: Wow! You really trained your Pokemon good.

James: You too Cain! It was tough but- Huh?

Prinplup pops out of its PokeBall and starts screaming out loud to what seems to be in pain. James and Cain didn’t know what to do. Then all of a sudden, it stood still and its whole body starts to glow.

Cain: What’s going on with your Prinplup?!

James: I think… I think it’s evolving!

As the 2 watch on, Prinplup starts to evolve. In a matter of moments, Prinplup evolves into Empoleon.

It opens its eyes and looks at James. It smiles and hugs James. It then lets go and makes its metal fins point downwards.

Cain: What do you think it’s trying to do?

James: I’m not sure.

Empoleon then pushes down on James shoulders and he falls to his knee. He then points to James knee and makes its fins go in an upward position.

James: Are you… Are you saying to put my knee up?

Empoleon happily shakes its head yes. It then makes James bow his head. James stays in that position in a confused way.

Cain: Hmm… You know, Empoleon does somewhat look like it has a crown on. Are you having James bow to you?

Empoleon shakes its head yes. James gets up and laughs.

James: So you like it when I bow to you like that when you come out of your PokeBall huh?

Empoleon: Empo! Poleon!

James: Alright. I’ll have to remember that. Haha. I’m so proud of you. You’re fully evolved now!

Empoleon: Empoleon!

James: Now return back into your PokeBall.

James returns Empoleon back to its PokeBall. Cain starts laughing.

Cain: Haha. You certainly have some interesting Pokemon there James.

James: Haha. You have no idea. But hey. I won the battle.

Cain: You sure did. Well, here you… Huh?

Cain and James look up the hill and see Heather there.

James: Heather? Is that you?

Heather: Yea. It is. Hey James. Long time no talk. Who’s the weirdo with you.

James: Hey hey. Don’t be like that Heather. You should treat people nice.

Cain: It’s ok James. Hi. My name is Cain. I actually came up here to find you believe it or not.

Heather: Why?

Cain: I heard what happened and I think you need someone there for you.

Heather: I don’t need anyone!

Cain: I think you need a friend.

Heather: James is 1 of my friends but I don’t want to be by you. Sorry about that James.

James: It’s ok I guess?

Heather: But I do have another friend!

Cain: Ohh yea? Who’s that?

Heather: She’s a Gym Leader and doesn’t ask so many dumb questions! I’m out of here! Come out Salemance and let’s get out of here!

Heather hops onto Salemances back and they fly off towards the Lapis Ward.

Cain: Where do you think she’s heading to?

James: Probably to Shelly. She and Heather are pretty close friends.

Cain: Well, I’m gonna head there too.

James: Why?

Cain: I wanna make sure she’s ok.

James: Well what about the key?

Cain: I have to move fast James. Sorry. Although, you can come with me and help if a situation arises.

James: You’re lucky we’re really good friends. Let’s go!

James and Cain then rush off to the Lapis Ward!

Team Motto Decisions!

Ame - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting back in Kanto, James and Ame have become really close friends. Thanks to Ame, James has his own room in the Reborn Region inside the Grand Hall. While they are close friends, Ame is a really important person and always busy. So there's really no time for them 2 to hang out. But they value any time they have talking to each other.

CHANGE! Cain - MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Cain instantly hit it off. They basically are best friends. They've met twice after that. The next time they meet seems to have strengthen their friendship with James totally in love with Cain's singing even during a dangerous situation. The next time they meet is in the Beryl Cemetery. While they don't do their motto, their friendship seems to have gotten stronger. Although James is a bit annoyed Cain hasn't given him the key, he is willing to help out in his friends quest. It seems that there is nothing that can damage their friendship but only time will tell.

Victoria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Victoria have a good friendship. While it's not on the same level as Cain, these 2 are very good friends. They've met twice after their encounter at the Grand Hall. The 1st was in the Obsidia Ward. Victoria's concern for James' safety caused her to battle James in an attempt to have him not be in danger. She lost though and basically forced herself to have faith in him. Their other encounter is when the whole Corey situation happened. James helping Victoria with Shelly really increased their friendship level as well as him saving her from Aster & Eclipse. However, their friendship has hit a rocky road as Victoria was against the idea of James battling Shelly after she just got over, or at least attempting to try to get over, Corey's death.

Julia - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Julia and James were just acquaintances. Julia and her "boomings" at 1st kind of made James nervous around her but after spending some time around her, he somewhat kind of got into it as well. They have met twice since their encounter at the explosion of the train station. The 1st was when Julia invited James to come to help her, Fern and Florinia to go investigate the Power Plant. While they didn't interact with each other much, she did help him feel better when he started to feel it was kind of his fault that the train station bombing happened. They also kind of grew closer when James decided to blow up the door to get into the next room. The other time they met is when James went to Julia's gym to challenge her for her gym. Although she lost the battle, that didn't damage their friendship. They appear to have a regular friendship.

CHANGE! Fern - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James despises Fern. In fact, he's the only person James has been calling a twerp much like he did to Ash back in his Team Rocket days. James has met Fern a total of 5 times since their 1st meeting. James seemed to tolerate Fern when they teamed up back at the Power Plant situation. In fact, James somewhat forgave him for being a twerp, although he didn't really say it to Fern. However, since their encounter at the Onyx Trainer School, James went back to hating him. Their 3rd encounter really made James pissed off at Fern as not only did Fern tell James to beg if he wanted to be freed, but when he wouldn't oblige, Fern actually left James trapped in the cage. But the final straw was when James witnessed a suicide and Fern was just a complete jerk about it. Showed no emotion about a person taking his own life. The last time they meet, James completely loses it on Fern. He hates how he showed no compassion for Shelly during their Gym Battle and is fed up being called a loser, despite the fact Fern has never beat him in a battle let alone fainted any of his Pokémon. James completely hates Fern now and it seems there is nothing Fern can do to have James reverse his thoughts about him.

Florinia - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James wasn't sure how to think of Florinia. He always tried to be friendly towards her but she showed almost no emotion. They have met many times after the Power Plant incident but Florinia remained unemotional and James was still feeling awkward around her. That is, until around the last time they saw each other. James passed the test getting all 8 answers right which made Florinia kinda get closer with James in their friendship. Afterwards, while James was resting, as well as his Pokémon, Florinia asked him for a favor and after he accepted, for the 1st time, she smiled at him somewhat, showing some kind of emotion for the 1st time in front of him. Their friendship seems to have just gotten lifted off the ground.

Amaria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Amaria and James have a good friendship. They only hung around each other during the plant coming to life in Obsidia Ward but during that time, they formed a friendship. While James made Amaria confused about how to feel about him when Cain was around, she eventually figured he was a good guy and just liked to have fun. They grew closer when Amaria let him stay over night on her boat and also saving her from the vines that were strangling her and Florinia. Although they haven't seen each other since then, it is assumed that they are good friends.

Taka - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Taka and James are really only acquaintances but James somewhat respects Taka. Although they only met twice, James has somewhat of respect for Taka since he can see that he doesn't seem to like doing what he's doing. He still has some hatred towards him though simply for being apart of Team Meteor.

Corey - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James feels sorry for Corey. When he found out Corey was apart of Team Meteor, he was really angry at him and hated him for a short time. But since Corey committed suicide and James learned more about him, he understands him more and respects him.

CHANGE! Heather - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Heather have a pretty good friendship. Although, you wouldn't know that if you saw their 1st meeting. Heather was angry at James for beating up Team Meteor. But then the 2nd time they meet up, they team up somewhat to take on the masked Team Meteor Grunt, Taka and ZEL, making their friendship starting to blossom. After taking them out, Heather feels comfortable telling James about her family. When they last meet, she learns, thanks to James, that her father is part of Team Meteor. She respects James for treating her like a grown up and telling her the truth, even though it somewhat hurts. The last time they meet, Heather is happy to see James but is annoyed with his friend. While she does see James as her friend, she decided not to stay and goes off to Shelly to get away from Cain. Their friendship seems to be increasing.

Shelly - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, Shelly and James have a strong friendship. When they 1st met, Shelly was all upset about the death of Heather's father. James tries everything he can to make Shelly happy and eventually, he does. At least, somewhat. Shelly apologizes for any friction she may have caused between James and Victoria which shows him that she cares about him. She feels comfortable telling him about her past. She gladly gives James the badge after his victory. Their friendship seems to keep growing as time goes on.

Anna - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Anna have a weird friendship connection. Also, a very small 1. When they 1st meet, Anna talks all crazy. Her and Noel dolls, burn scars that actually aren't on Charlotte. James is a bit weirded out by her. But by the end of his visit at the orphanage/psychiatric ward, he's happy to know what to tell Shelly to make her feel better thanks to Anna.

Noel - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Noel don't really have a connection. Barely could be called acquaintances. Noel doesn't talk to James much and neither does James to Noel. But they don't hate each other.

Charlotte - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Since their 1st meeting, James and Charlotte have a tiny friendship started. Well, at least James to Charlotte. In a weird way, Charlotte reminds James of Jessie. This makes him hope they can become closer friends in the near future.

ANNOUNCEMENT!

Since the community release of Episode 17 of Reborn is out, I'm going to stop this run for now. I want to play through it and see all the changes and stuff. Do not worried. This is not cancelled. Just on hold til I beat the end of 17. Which might take a while or it might now. I have no clue. Hope you all enjoy the release of Episode 17 and also enjoy reading this run!

Cain rushes ahead of James and pretty soon, runs out of James’ sight. James knew where he was going though so it didn’t bother him. Although he was curious as to why Cain was so concerned with Heather so much. James finally reached Shelly’s place and went upstairs.

James: (panting) Did I… Miss anything?

Heather: Uhh… You ok James?

James: (still panting) Yea… Just out of breath.

Heather: Well I’m glad you’re ok. But this boy.

Cain: Hey. I just wanted to make sure you were doing ok Heather.

Heather: I am! You told me to be with a friend and here she is! Shelly, you’re my friend right?

Shelly: Of course. You’re my only friend after all.

James: I don’t know about that. I would consider us friends as well.

Shelly: (blushing) R-Really James?

Heather: So as you can see, I got a friend here.

Cain: Well I’m glad you do. I just wanna make sure you’re not alone. See, I know how that feels and I-

Heather: Shut up! Shelly, tell him to go away. James, you’re free to stay if you want.

Shelly: I’m… I’m sorry Cain but Shelly said to… That you should leave… I’m sorry.

Cain: You shouldn’t yell at her like that Heather. I think you’re scaring her. Shelly, would you like Heather to be a little nicer to you?

Shelly: Ummm… I mean, I guess so… Yea.

Heather: Ugh! Everyone is ganging up on me and I didn’t even do anything wrong! Well except for James and he’s a grown up! That’s it! I’m leaving!

Cain: (after Heather walks downstairs) Oogity Boogity Boo! That’s not what I meant to do! Come on guys! We have to get to her before she hurts herself!

Shelly: (running out of the room) Wait for me!

Everyone runs out of the building and onto the streets. Again, it takes James a little bit longer to get to where everyone else is at. He could see Dr. Sigmund and a couple of the orderlies. He went up beside Cain.

James: (thinking in his mind) Ohh no. It’s the Doctor. And… Ohh no…

Heather: Ugh! Move out of the way ugly!

Dr. Sigmund: Such an unruly child! Have your parents taught you no manners?

Heather: Shut up!

Shelly: Umm… Her parents are both umm… Gone.

Dr: Sigmund: Hmm. How unfortunate. I may have a solution to your problem though. I run an orphanage here. I could provide you with a place to live. What do you say?

Heather: Leave me alone! I don’t want your stupid help!

Dr. Sigmund: I offer you a roof over your house and many more stuff. Why are you so unruly?

Cain: Alright Geezer. I think it’s time for you to back up from the girl.

Dr. Sigmund: Excuse me but I’m not a “geezer.” I am a Doctor and it took me many years of hard work for me to be called that. So I expect to be respected and be called Doctor.

Cain: Alright. Alright. Fine Dr. Geezer.

Heather: Hehe. That was- Hehehe.

Cain: Did you just giggle there Heather? Success!

Heather: I did not! I had somethi-

James: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!… (embarrassed with everyone looking at him) What?… I found it funny.

Dr. Sigmund: Riiiiiight…. Well I hate to break up this little laugh session but unfortunately for you, I have to.

Shelly: What do you mean?

Dr. Sigmund: Under Article 4, Section 9, Clause 3, I-

James: (thinking in his mind not paying attention to the Doctor) Hmm. I wonder where the next badge is. I already have 3.

Shelly: (thinking in her mind not paying attention to the Doctor) Is… Is James really my friend? That’s kind of unbelievable.

Heather: (thinking in her mind not paying attention to the Doctor) Ohh my God! I wanna GOOOOOOO!

Cain: (thinking in his mind not paying attention to the Doctor) Hmm. I wonder if I should paint my nails Light Blue next? Oooo! Maybe Lavender!

Dr. Sigmund: Also, under Article 7, Section 2, Clause 2-

James, Shelly, Heather & Cain: (thinking in their minds): Ohh yea. The Doctor.

Dr. Sigmund: -Which means I have no other option but to force you to come live at the orphanage. Orderlies, seize her!

Heather: Hey! Let go of me!

Dr. Sigmund: Take her back to the orphanage.

Cain & James: Heather!

Dr. Sigmund: Now, I recommend you go back doing whatever it is that you were doing. Or else I’ll have to contact the appropriate authorities. Good day.

Dr. Sigmund then leaves. James and Cain look at each other, puzzled at what their next move is.

Shelly: Ohh my god. If I didn’t say anything, I’d… She’d

Shelly then runs away back to her Gym. Cain and James look at each other and run for her. When they reach upstairs into her room, they see Shelly sitting on the floor.

James: Shelly, what’s wrong?

Shelly: If I didn’t say anything about her parents being gone, she wouldn’t have been taken. I’m such a horrible friend.

Cain: No you weren’t. You were there for her. That’s what counts. But I do have to admit this is my fault basically. If I didn’t keep bothering her, she wouldn’t have left here.

Shelly: So what do we do now?

James elegantly points to Cain and Cain starts to sing.

Cain: ~Til the end I’ll be with you, we’ll go where our dreams come true~

~All the times that we’ve been through, you’ll always be my best friend~

James: Ahh. Such a majestic voice. Don’t you think so Shelly?

Shelly: But… Friend? We just met a little bit ago.

Cain: Details details. Point is we can’t leave Heather with Doctor Geezer.

From a distance, they can hear a little girl screaming.

James: Arceus!

Shelly: Was… Was that Heather?

Cain: ~Here we are on a new adventure, danger lurks somewhere in the darkness~

~We are set for surprises - even battle! We’re a team, no one better mess with us!~

James: Come on guys! Let’s save her!

Cain, Shelly & James run to the orphanage/psychiatric center but the door is locked.

Cain: Dang it. I thought we would at least be able to get in.

Suddenly, they hear the door unlock and it opens. Standing in the doorway is Anna.

Anna: James! And your brought friends! Come in!

James: (walking in with Cain & Shelly) Thanks Anna but how did you know we were out there.

Anna: I saw your glowiness.

James:… Right.

Anna: (to Shelly) Hi! I’m Anna! Wanna be friends with me?

Shelly: See the truth is is that I-

Anna: I know. I know. You already have so many friends but surely you got room for 1 more.

Shelly: Huh? But… I only have 1 friend. And that’s Heather.

Anna: Haha. What? No way. You have MANY friends. Can’t you see the strings silly?

Shelly: Strings? What strings?

Anna: See, each time a friendship is formed, a string is connected to the both of them. And I’ve NEVER seen this many stings. You must have a lot of friends.

Cain: No offense you 2 but we’re here for a reason.

Charlotte: And let me guess. It’s for that girl that just got brought in right? She was kicking and screaming all the way up. Not that that isn’t a surprise.

James: Yea. We’re breaking her out of here. And I know you guys hate it here. Wanna come with?

Charlotte: You kidding me? If there’s a chance I can get out of this hellhole, I’m in!

Noel: Yes but the orderlies will soon be in here and surely will try to force the 3 of you out. Plus, our Pokemon have been confiscated.

Cain: I guess we just got another job to do.

James: Hey Shelly. I need to tell you something quick.

Shelly: What?

James: When me & Cain do our thing, take out as many orderlies as you can.

Shelly: D-Do your thing? What’s that?

James: Don’t worry. You’ll see.

Charlotte: Hey. I can help with that.

Charlotte walks into another room. Everyone can hear a conversation between her and another person. Soon they can hear another person and soon see her being carried by 2 orderlies into another room.

James: I wonder what she said. Did any of you hear them?

Noel: Something about cigs? But it seems they took her off to the circuit.

Shelly: What’s that?

Anna: That’s where the Doctor puts all the “bad” kids.

Suddenly, some orderlies rush into the room.

Orderly: Hey! You’re not allowed to be here!

Cain: Well you guys really need to learn how to fashion yourselves up. I mean look at what you’re wearing! I mean, am I right here James?

James: Ohh definitely. They don’t look in the least… Fabulous.

James and Cain then run towards each other and stand back to back and start doing their Motto.

After they get done, they turn back and see an excited Anna and confused Noel.

Anna: Oh… My… Arceus… That was the COOLEST thing I ever seen!

Noel: Umm… What exactly was that? I mean I guess it was a good distraction for some of the orderlies but… Wow.

James turns towards Shelly. He can see on the ground near her are a couple of orderlies.

James: Nice job Shelly! You did great!

Shelly: Thanks James! But watch out behind you and Cain!

3 orderlies come up and instantly start a battle between the 3. In no time, Cain, James and Shelly beat the orderlies and they retreat. Noel then gets an idea.

Noel: Hey uhh… Cain right? If you block this doorway here, no more orderlies will be able to get through and you’ll be able to knock some of them out.

Anna: That’s a great idea Noel!

Cain: You are a pretty smart boy Noel and you’re peppy Anna.

Noel: James, if you’re gonna try to rescue your friend, she’s up at the top of the building and-

Before Noel can finish his sentence, a couple more orderlies run in from the other room, catch Noel and haul him off to a holding cell on 1 of the upper floors.

Shelly: Ohh no. Come on James! I’ll try not to slow you down.

James and Shelly team up and take out a couple of orderlies on the 2nd floor. When they battle the last team of orderlies, they press a button on the wall and a steel grate comes down blocking them from continuing to go up.

James: Damn. They blocked the way up. What do we do now?

Shelly: Well… Maybe we can ask Anna? She’s been here for a long time. She might now.

James and Shelly go back downstairs and ask Anna what to do.

Anna: Well, there’s a computer system in that room that controls those grates. If you disable it, you’ll be able to raise the grates and continue.

Shelly: Thanks Anna.

Anna: No problem friend.

James and Shelly listen and search for the computer system in the next room. They eventually find it but have to dispatch a couple of orderlies 1st. After defeating them in battle, they press the button and hear something on the upper levels of the building.

They go back up the floors and find Noel behind bars.

Shelly: Noel! Are you ok?

Noel: I’m fine. They didn’t hurt me. There should be a panel on the next floor. That should open up the cells here.

James: Alright. We’ll come back for you.

Shelly and James continue to the next floor. When they reach the upper floor, the orderly James battled the 1st time he was there was with another orderly.

Orderly #1: So you’re the 1 that’s causing trouble here. Was your visit here earlier just you scouting out the place?

James: No but I’m not really sorry I’m doing this.

Shelly: Don’t you feel bad at all what you’re doing to the orphans here?

Orderly #2: We’re not allowed to question that. Get ready to be run out of here.

After the battle, the orderlies run away.

Shelly: Is that what happened when you came here before?

James: Yea. But I didn’t expect all this to be so-

Shelly: I’m so sorry James.

James: For what?

Shelly: For making you come here in the 1st place.

James: Ohh Shelly. It’s not your fault. We’d be here whether I came here before or not. Besides, if it wasn’t for Anna, who knows how’d you be feeling right now.

Shelly: You mean it was Anna to tell you what to say to me?

James: Yea. She’s a weird girl but I can tell she’s got a good heart. And you 2 will be good friends.

Shelly: I hope so… Hey. There’s the control panel to unlock these cells. You think it’ll life up this steel grate here?

James: Only 1 way to find out.

James pushes the button on the control panel. The cells open up but the steel grate stays down.

James: Guess that answers that question.

Shelly: Let’s go back down to Noel and then back downstairs. Maybe Noel and the others know how to open it.

They both go down and meet Noel outside of the cell he was in.

Shelly: Ohh Noel! I’m so glad to see you out.

Noel: Thanks for setting me free. But didn’t you go try to free Heather?

James: There was another steel grate there and we couldn’t get passed it. Do you know how to make it go up?

Noel: No. But Charlotte might. Come on. Let’s go downstairs with the others.

Noel rushes downstairs as James and Shelly follow. When the 2 get downstairs, they see that Noel and Anna are staring into the room Cain was once fending off orderlies.

James: Where’s Cain?

Anna: He’s still battling the orderlies.

Noel: And amazingly has pushed them back even further. Actually, you should be able to release Charlotte.

James: Great. Come on Shelly.

Shelly and James go into the room and find Charlotte behind bars and Cain still fending off some orderlies. James presses the button on the control panel and Charlotte is released from her cell.

Charlotte: You’re actually pulling this off? Hmm.

Cain: Did you think we couldn’t do it?

Charlotte: Trust me. You don’t want me to be honest with that.

Orderly #1: This guy is good.

Orderly #2: Really good.

Cain: Normally I love hearing that kid of compliment from guys. But I know I could do better. Move out of the way NOW!

Orderlies #1 & 2: Yes.

Charlotte: Hmm. Impressive. You 3 are pretty good.

Cain: I know. But someday, I want my prince to come save me. Ohh Charlotte. Be that prince for me?~

Charlotte: That… I-

James: You got me dude.~

Cain: Ohh James. I know I can always count on you. Haha.

Charlotte: I’m not exactly sure what’s going on here but can we get a move on?

Cain: ~Me & my friends are gonna do it right, you’ll never see us run away from a fight.~

Charlotte: Don’t you think this is a weird time to start singing.

Cain: Maybe.

James: But you’ve got to admit, he’s got a GREAT singing voice.

Shelly, James, Cain & Charlotte move into the other room where there are more orderlies.

Charlotte: Alright. Now I think you all should give us access to our Pokemon or we’ll have these 3 beat you up something fierce.

The orderly near the computer pressed the button and the steel grate in front of them went away. Charlotte went into it and started looking around.

Charlotte: Hmmm. Where are they? Where the FUCK are they?!

Cain: What are you looking for?

Charlotte: Hmmm.. There they are! My cigs!

Cain: Really Charlotte? Setting a great example for the kids here.

Charlotte: Ohh shush Princess. There’s a reason I want these. But the most important reason we’re in here are for these.

Everyone looks in front of Charlotte. They can see 4 sets of PokeBalls with all of them listed to who they belong to.

Charlotte: Let’s see. Mine, Noel’s, Anna’s and I guess these are the girl’s Pokemon, Heather. Here Shelly. You take them since you 2 are really close.

Shelly: Thanks Charlotte!

Charlotte: Welcome. Now, me and Cain will meet back up with Anna & Noel and reach the upper floor. You 2 need to go into the Doctor’s office and disable the gates. Then we’ll be able to reach Sigmund and rescue your friend. Got it?

James: Yea. See you in a bit!

Charlotte, Cain, Anna & Noel run upstairs as James and Shelly follow Charlotte’s directions and reach the Doctor’s office. But before they can reach the computer, they are ambushed by 2 orderlies but despite the sneak attack, they are victorious in their Pokemon Battle and push the button, disabling the gates upstairs.

James and Shelly then run all the way upstairs and reach the very top of the room. When they get there, they see Cain & Noel holding off more orderlies, Charlotte and a Ninetails eyeing down the Doctor and an Electivire with Heather lying on the table.

Shelly: Wh-What is that Electivire doing to Heather?!

Dr. Sigmund: Electro-shock therapy.

Shelly: How dare you!

Charlotte: Trust me. It sucks. It really fucking sucks. But guess what. I won’t have to go through that ever again and neither will my sisters or anyone else. You got a diagnosis for the situation you’re in Doc? I do. Royally fucked.

Everyone looks at Charlotte in complete shock.

James: My Arceus…

Shelly: Whoa…

Cain: That was tense…

Dr. Sigmund: Right. Have you had your fun Charlotte? We can start your treatment after I’m done with Heather here.

Charlotte: I don’t think you know how dire of a situation you’re in right now. You either let the girl go or I swear to Arceus I will…

Charlotte takes a lit cig that has been on her hand and presses it up against the Doctor’s arm.

Dr. Sigmund: Ahh!

James: Whoa! She’s reminding me more of Jessie more and more each time I see her.

Cain: Did you really have to do that Charlotte?

Charlotte: Ohh yes. And don’t you fucking dare feel sorry for him. He’s done much worse to my sisters and I. He deserves it.

Dr. Sigmund: Hmph! Take the girl. I have no interest in this little party struggle.

Shelly: Thank Arceus. Are you ok Shelly?

Dr. Sigmund: I must inform you all that I have contacted the authorities and you all shall be arrested shortly.

James: It’s time to blast out of here!

Everyone runs down the stairs with James being the very last person. When he reaches the main floor, he sees Anna standing by the door.

Anna: Cain told me you’re not a very fast runner and by the looks of it, he ain’t lying. Haha. We’re all gonna meet up underneath the Railnet Tunnel. You know where that is?

James: I do.

Anna: Great! Try not to be a Slowpoke!

Anna then runs out of the building as does James. It takes a little while but James finally makes it there where he meets up with the rest of the gang. Shelly runs over to him.

Shelly: Are you ok James?

James: (panting) I’m fine. Just… Out of breath. How’s Heather?

Shelly: She won’t talk. To anyone. I don’t know what to do.

James: Speaking of that, what are we doing now? We just gonna stay down here?

Charlotte: No. We can’t really return to Reborn City. At least for now. The cops will be looking for us. But luckily for us, we’re not far from where our house is.

Cain: Wait. You have a house under the Railnet?

Charlotte: No. You know where this part of the Railnet connects to right?

Noel: I believe it connects to the Chrysolia Region right?

Charlotte: Right. We have a house there. It’s basically inside of another cave but there’s no top. And there’s a beautiful lake there as well. We can lay low there for a while until this whole thing is forgotten.

Shelly: W-Well we don’t have many other options so-

Anna: Let’s go! Haha.

James: Alright. Charlotte, you lead the way.

Charlotte: Of course. None of you would know where to go.

As the group travel together, Charlotte walks near James and asks him a question.

Charlotte: So, Anna told me you and Cain did some kind of song or something like that to distract some of the orderlies?

James: She must mean the motto we did. Yea we did.

Charlotte: So like why?

James: Well me and Cain basically have been friends since I came here and we both talked about our past and it weirdly happened because of that. I used to be part of Team Rocket.

Charlotte: I heard of that team. Aren’t they evil?

James: Yea. But I never felt totally evil when I was apart of it. A couple of years ago, I quit the team but I couldn’t take back any of the Pokemon I ever had. Which sucks.

Charlotte: I would have went off on your boss if that was me. But you don’t seem like the type that stands up to people. Well… You seem like you wouldn’t have back then. I think you would now though.

James: Haha. Thanks. You know, you kind of remind me of my partner I had.

Charlotte: Really?

James: Yea. Except you’re more dangerous than her. Haha.

Charlotte: Haha. I take that as a compliment. Hey… Maybe when we can relax, me and you can come up with like a song or motto or whatever and maybe a team name for us too?

James: Really? Why?

Charlotte: It sounds cool.

James: Well sure. And I’d love for us to have a team name too. Cain and mine is called Team Fabulous.

Charlotte: … Fits you buuuuut I’m coming up with the name of the team. You can come up with the motto. And don't tell anyone til it's time to do it ok James?

James: Haha. You got a deal.

The 2 laughed. They finally reached the end of the tunnel where a cave was blocking off the way to the other side of the tunnel. There was a computer there but no power was going through it.

Charlotte: Damnit! There’s no power going through this stupid thing!

Noel: Hmm. I think the old Power Plant is inactive right now. See, earthquakes hit Reborn and ever since then, the train never really ran through here afterwards.

Anna: Wait! I have an idea! James, you should go to the Power Plant and ask Mr. Shade to turn it on for us!

James: Wait wait. Shade!? Why would I do that?

Anna: Well you’re collecting badges right?

James: Hold on a minute. You can’t be telling me that he’s a-

Anna: He’s a Gym Leader! So you can get the power back on and battle him for the badge!

Charlotte: Well it’s not a bad idea. It’s like taking 2 Pidgeys out with 1 Stone Edge.

James: Well… I suppose I have to. Alright. I’ll be back and we’ll continue!

Cain: Later James! And good luck!

Charlotte: What Princess said!

James ran out of the tunnel and made his way up to the gym.

Ame - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting back in Kanto, James and Ame have become really close friends. Thanks to Ame, James has his own room in the Reborn Region inside the Grand Hall. While they are close friends, Ame is a really important person and always busy. So there's really no time for them 2 to hang out. But they value any time they have talking to each other.

CHANGE! Cain - MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Cain instantly hit it off. They basically are best friends. They've met twice after that. The next time they meet seems to have strengthen their friendship with James totally in love with Cain's singing even during a dangerous situation. The next time they meet is in the Beryl Cemetery. While they don't do their motto, their friendship seems to have gotten stronger. Although James is a bit annoyed Cain hasn't given him the key, he is willing to help out in his friends quest. They seem to have gotten even closer in their friendship since they broke out Heather and the other orphans out of the orphanage/psychiatric center. And they got to do their motto again, but as more of a distraction this time. It seems that there is nothing that can damage their friendship but only time will tell.

Victoria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Victoria have a good friendship. While it's not on the same level as Cain, these 2 are very good friends. They've met twice after their encounter at the Grand Hall. The 1st was in the Obsidia Ward. Victoria's concern for James' safety caused her to battle James in an attempt to have him not be in danger. She lost though and basically forced herself to have faith in him. Their other encounter is when the whole Corey situation happened. James helping Victoria with Shelly really increased their friendship level as well as him saving her from Aster & Eclipse. However, their friendship has hit a rocky road as Victoria was against the idea of James battling Shelly after she just got over, or at least attempting to try to get over, Corey's death.

Julia - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Julia and James were just acquaintances. Julia and her "boomings" at 1st kind of made James nervous around her but after spending some time around her, he somewhat kind of got into it as well. They have met twice since their encounter at the explosion of the train station. The 1st was when Julia invited James to come to help her, Fern and Florinia to go investigate the Power Plant. While they didn't interact with each other much, she did help him feel better when he started to feel it was kind of his fault that the train station bombing happened. They also kind of grew closer when James decided to blow up the door to get into the next room. The other time they met is when James went to Julia's gym to challenge her for her gym. Although she lost the battle, that didn't damage their friendship. They appear to have a regular friendship.

Fern - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James despises Fern. In fact, he's the only person James has been calling a twerp much like he did to Ash back in his Team Rocket days. James has met Fern a total of 5 times since their 1st meeting. James seemed to tolerate Fern when they teamed up back at the Power Plant situation. In fact, James somewhat forgave him for being a twerp, although he didn't really say it to Fern. However, since their encounter at the Onyx Trainer School, James went back to hating him. Their 3rd encounter really made James pissed off at Fern as not only did Fern tell James to beg if he wanted to be freed, but when he wouldn't oblige, Fern actually left James trapped in the cage. But the final straw was when James witnessed a suicide and Fern was just a complete jerk about it. Showed no emotion about a person taking his own life. The last time they meet, James completely loses it on Fern. He hates how he showed no compassion for Shelly during their Gym Battle and is fed up being called a loser, despite the fact Fern has never beat him in a battle let alone fainted any of his Pokémon. James completely hates Fern now and it seems there is nothing Fern can do to have James reverse his thoughts about him.

Florinia - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James wasn't sure how to think of Florinia. He always tried to be friendly towards her but she showed almost no emotion. They have met many times after the Power Plant incident but Florinia remained unemotional and James was still feeling awkward around her. That is, until around the last time they saw each other. James passed the test getting all 8 answers right which made Florinia kinda get closer with James in their friendship. Afterwards, while James was resting, as well as his Pokémon, Florinia asked him for a favor and after he accepted, for the 1st time, she smiled at him somewhat, showing some kind of emotion for the 1st time in front of him. Their friendship seems to have just gotten lifted off the ground.

Amaria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Amaria and James have a good friendship. They only hung around each other during the plant coming to life in Obsidia Ward but during that time, they formed a friendship. While James made Amaria confused about how to feel about him when Cain was around, she eventually figured he was a good guy and just liked to have fun. They grew closer when Amaria let him stay over night on her boat and also saving her from the vines that were strangling her and Florinia. Although they haven't seen each other since then, it is assumed that they are good friends.

Taka - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Taka and James are really only acquaintances but James somewhat respects Taka. Although they only met twice, James has somewhat of respect for Taka since he can see that he doesn't seem to like doing what he's doing. He still has some hatred towards him though simply for being apart of Team Meteor.

Corey - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James feels sorry for Corey. When he found out Corey was apart of Team Meteor, he was really angry at him and hated him for a short time. But since Corey committed suicide and James learned more about him, he understands him more and respects him.

CHANGE! Heather - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Heather have a pretty good friendship. Although, you wouldn't know that if you saw their 1st meeting. Heather was angry at James for beating up Team Meteor. But then the 2nd time they meet up, they team up somewhat to take on the masked Team Meteor Grunt, Taka and ZEL, making their friendship starting to blossom. After taking them out, Heather feels comfortable telling James about her family. When they last meet, she learns, thanks to James, that her father is part of Team Meteor. She respects James for treating her like a grown up and telling her the truth, even though it somewhat hurts. The last time they meet, Heather is happy to see James but is annoyed with his friend. While she does see James as her friend, she decided not to stay and goes off to Shelly to get away from Cain. While at Shelly, she encounters Cain and James again. Her annoyance for Cain increases as her friendship with James seems to stay the same. But now that the Doctor has done some sort of Electro-shock Therapy on her, she doesn't talk anymore. Their friendship seems to be increasing.

CHANGE! Shelly - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, Shelly and James have a strong friendship. When they 1st met, Shelly was all upset about the death of Heather's father. James tries everything he can to make Shelly happy and eventually, he does. At least, somewhat. Shelly apologizes for any friction she may have caused between James and Victoria which shows him that she cares about him. She feels comfortable telling him about her past. She gladly gives James the badge after his victory. The next time they meet is when Cain wants to make sure Heather, her best friend, is doing ok. Heather runs again and she lets out that her parents are dead, resulting in Heather being forced to be taken back to the orphanage/psychiatric center. James comforts her and reassures her that he's there to help her. Their whole team while taking on the orderlies as really heightened their friendship. Although, she didn't really know it before, she's seeing James as more of a friend now. Their friendship seems to keep growing as time goes on.

CHANGE! Anna - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Anna have a weird friendship connection. Also, a very small 1. When they 1st meet, Anna talks all crazy. Her and Noel dolls, burn scars that actually aren't on Charlotte. James is a bit weirded out by her. But by the end of his visit at the orphanage/psychiatric ward, he's happy to know what to tell Shelly to make her feel better thanks to Anna. When he, with Cain and Shelly, goes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to bust out Heather, Anna is shown to actually be somewhat smart and really peppy. Their friendship is somewhat rising.

CHANGE! Noel - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Noel don't really have a connection. Barely could be called acquaintances. Noel doesn't talk to James much and neither does James to Noel. But they don't hate each other. But since James, along with Cain and Shelly, comes back to bust Heather out of the orphanage/psychiatric center, Noel proves to be somewhat helpful. James seems quite fearful for Noel when the orderlies take him to a cell but is relieved to see he is ok. Their friendship seems to start to increase, although it's not certain if it will go any higher than it is now.

CHANGE! Charlotte - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Since their 1st meeting, James and Charlotte have a tiny friendship started. Well, at least James to Charlotte. In a weird way, Charlotte reminds James of Jessie. Now since James, with Cain and Shelly, comes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to break Heather out, Charlotte instantly helps out with distracting some orderlies but that worries James. He's glad to see she's ok when they get to her cell though. He sees that she's actually more dangerous than Jessie was but that doesn't scare him. They actually get closer while in the tunnel. James reveals to her about his past and she confesses that she actually likes the idea of having a motto with him and plans on doing it when things calm down more. Their friendship has grown a lot more since their 2nd meeting.

James finally made it to the gym. It took him a little longer than he expected. He didn’t really know where it was so he had to go back and ask where it was. Anna told him he had to go to Beryl Bridge and it would be on the right. James remembered that bridge. It was where he witnessed Corey throw himself off the bridge to the ground below. He tried not to think about it.

James stood in front of the door and looked inside. He could barely see anything. It was really dark in there. He can only see stuff when the lights flickered. He took a deep breath, opened the door and walked in. It was really dark when he went in. James was scared but he knew he had to continue. He could barely see but he could tell something was blocking his way to continue forward. He also noticed there was 2 doorways to the left and right of him. He figured he had to do something to get the blockades in front of him out of the way. He went into the left room 1st.

He had to feel the walls in order to keep moving. He ended up in front of a big tv screen. He could somewhat figure out that the thing in front of him was a computer of some sort. He pushed a button. Lights came on and the tv screen in front of him started to play a video. In it, he could see Amaria with her eyes closed. Then, another person comes in but he couldn’t make it out if this person pushed Amaria or was trying to grab her.

James: What… What happened to Amaria? What is this place?

The tv screen turned black and the lights shut back off. James was now really scared. He didn’t know what he just watched. Was it real? Or was it staged? He didn’t know but he had to move on. He started to stumble towards the back of the room. He wasn’t totally sure but he could swear something was following him. He made it to another tv screen with a button in front of it. James was scared to press it and see what came up but he didn’t know what else to do. He hesitantly pressed the button. Just like with the other room, a light from above turned on and the tv screen in front of him turned on. An older woman with purplish-pink hair appeared on screen. Then, a Garchomp appeared from the darkness behind her. As she turned around, it used its scythe like arms to slice into her, killing her. James was horrified.

James: What the heck?! Who was that and why did that Garchomp kill her?!

???: Dusk?

James heard something. He looked all over around him while the lights were still on. He knew he heard something but he couldn’t see anything. Then, just like in the other room, the tv screen turned off and the lights went out. James didn’t want to be there anymore but he knew he had to continue. Not just for his adventure but to help out with the gang. He started his way back and was able to find himself to the main room. He could make out some of the barricades in front of him were gone but there were still some left. So now, he ventured to the room on the right.

He again had to grab onto the walls to somewhat know where to go. He entered a room and knew exactly what was coming. Something horrific was about to be played. He pressed the button and looked up at the screen. The screen popped on and a girl in weird clothing was just standing there. James looked at the clothing more closely.

James: Hmm. That kind of reminds me of Team Meteor. Is she apart of tha-

Before James could finish his train of thought, he started hearing explosions on the tv screen. He looked and saw the girl being blown up. When the screen returned to normal though, the girl was still in 1 piece. James was scared but also relieved that nothing happened to her. But in a matter of seconds, her body started to fall apart. This tortured James as he watched this.

James: (with tears in his eyes) I don’t… Why?… What is going on in this place? I don’t understand-

???: Kull? Duskull?

James heard the noise again. As he did before, he looked all around the lit area but this time saw a faint golden color fade away into the darkness. James followed it all the way to another room with another tv screen and button.

James: Who are you?! What’s going on here?!

James yelled out into the building. But he got no response. James was almost crying out loud at this point. He looked at the button and pressed it.

James: (under his breath) Let’s just get this over with already.

The tv screen turned on and what James saw made him curl into a ball and start sobbing. There on the screen was Corey standing on the ledge of the bridge. James didn’t want to watch but he couldn’t help it. For a 2nd time, he witnessed Corey throwing himself off the bridge to his death. James turned away from the screen, slid down sitting on the floor and started crying. He didn’t want to see that again. It was too much for him.

James: Why?… Why is all of this happening? I don’t know what to do. I didn’t want to see that again. Why is WRONG with this place?! Why did it show me all of these things? I… I- Wha-?

James felt something go underneath his arm and stay there. He looked and saw a Duskull there. James screamed in fear thinking the Pokemon would attack but it didn’t. In fact, it seemed almost more scared of James than James was of it. The Pokemon came closer again but this time more cautiously.

James: W-Were you the 1 following me in this building all this time?

Duskull: (shaking its head yes) Duskull. Kull.

James: Why?

Duskull tried to make James understand why but James just wasn’t getting it.

James: I still don’t understand why you were following me but… I’m sorry if I scared you before. Were you trying to cheer me up?

Duskull: (shaking its head yes with a smile) Duskull! Dusk!

James: Haha. Well thanks. You’re a nice Pokemon.

Duskull: Duskull! Dusk! Dusk!

James, more calmed down more, studied Duskull more. He could tell that it was different from other Duskull. After looking at the Duskull for a couple of seconds, he realized that it was different colored.

James: Hmm. That’s weird. Duskull are usually grey and a darker version of grey with white. You’re gold and black.

Duskull: (looking at himself) Duskull?

James: Don’t worry. It’s not a bad thing. It means you look unique.

Duskull: (smiling) Dusk!

All of a sudden the lights went out. It startled James but Duskull freaked out and flew right over to James, making him hold it.

James: Whoa whoa. Duskull, what’s wrong?

Duskull: (whimpering) Dusk Duskull Dusk!

James: Are… Are you afr-

The lights then flash back on. Duskull looked behind James and saw a Magnezone floating towards him. It seemed like it was charging a powerful Discharge attack.

Magnezone: MagneZONE!

James: What was tha- Ow!

The Duskull pushed James to the ground. James sat up and witnessed what seemed to be a copy of Duskull go up to the Magnezone and go into it. The Discharge attack hit Duskull full power and knocked it out.

James: Duskull! How dare you!

James yelled at the Magnezone. Magnezone seemed to be preparing another attack but it stop and seemed to faint.

James: Di-Did I do something for that to happen?

James made sure that the Magnezone was fainted. It was but James had no idea why it did. He then looked over at Duskull.

Duskull: D-Dusk-k-kull…

James: Don’t worry Duskull! I’ll get you to a PokeCenter!

He picked up the Duskull and rushed over to the Beryl Ward PokeCenter. Nurse Joy took it and placed it in a special machine that was specifically designed to help heal Ghost Type Pokemon. It was all dark inside the machine. Nurse Joy came back out and talked with James.

Nurse Joy: What happened to that Pokemon?

James: Well I was in the old Power Plant and trying to find a way to get to the Gym Leader. I ran into it and it saved me from a Magnezone.

Nurse Joy: So it’s not your Pokemon?

James: No. But… I wouldn’t mind if it was.

Nurse Joy: I see. Well if you do end up with it, I should let you know that this Duskull was recently hatched from an egg. I’d honestly say that it’s only about a day or 2 old.

James: How do you know that?

Nurse Joy: Some of the nurses here have a machine that helps us tell how strong a Pokemon is and what moves it has so we can determine how to help heal it. The Duskull you brought in isn’t very strong at all.

James: But wait. It took out the Magnezone. How can it not be strong.

Nurse Joy: Hmm. Come with me back to the Duskull. I think you should be here when it wakes up anyways.

James: Ok.

James and Nurse Joy walk to the back of the PokeCenter. Nurse Joy uses the machine she told James about to check out the moves that the young Duskull knows.

Nurse Joy: Let’s see now. What were the moves you know? Leer. Trick Room. Night Shade. Ahh. I think I know how it took out the Magnezone. It knows the move Destiny Bond.

James: Destiny Bond?

Nurse Joy: If a Pokemon uses Destiny Bond on a Pokemon, when they faint, the Pokemon that beat it will also faint.

James: That explains a lot. I saw a weird copy of itself go into the Magnezone.

Nurse Joy: That’s Destiny Bond alright. Although, it’s rare that a baby Pokemon would risk itself like that already for someone it doesn’t know.

All of a sudden, the machine that the Duskull is in starts to shake.

James: What’s happening?!

Nurse Joy: I’m not sure!

Nurse Joy goes over to it and pushes a button and opens up the machine. The Duskull flies out of it and right into James’ arms.

Duskull: (crying) Duskull! Kull Kull! Duskull! Dusk!

James: Hey hey. It’s ok Duskull. I’m here for ya buddy.

Nurse Joy: I have no idea why it did that.

James: You know… I think I do. (makes the Duskull float in front of them) Duskull, are you afraid of the dark?

Duskull: (looking ashamed and shaking its head yes) Dusk…

Nurse Joy: Wait. A Ghost Type Pokemon is afraid of the dark?

James: Well there’s a 1st time for everything. (looks at Duskull) It’s ok to be afraid of the dark buddy. Everyone is scared of something.

Nurse Joy: Well if that’s the case, it certainly can’t return to where you 2 met.

James: True. (pulls out a Great Ball) Duskull, would you maybe want to come with me?

The Duskull stares at the Great Ball fearfully.

James: I have an idea. I’ll capture you but then I’ll let you right back out. That way, no 1 can capture you. Is that ok to you.

Duskull: (hesitantly shakes its head yes) Duskull…

James taps Duskull with the Great Ball and Duskull goes inside. The ball shakes once, stops instantly and then James calls back out his new Pokemon.

James: Welcome to the team Duskull!

Duskull: Duskull Kull!

Nurse Joy: Congrats on your new friend.

James: Thanks. You know, if it wasn’t for Duskull, I don’t think I would have made it out of that Power Plant. Hmmm. How about I call you… Light.

Duskull: (shaking its head yes excitedly) Duskull Dusk!

Nurse Joy: You 2 already seem like a good pair.

James: Thanks.

Nurse Joy: Although, something has been making me puzzled.

James: What’s that?

Nurse Joy: You said that the Duskull didn’t attack you but had no hesitation in protecting you from the Magnezone right?

James: Yea. Why?

Nurse Joy: Dusku- I mean Light, are you afraid to battle right now?

Duskull: (shaking its head yes) Duskull Kull Dusk.

James: Really Duskull? You’re afraid to battle?

Duskull: Dusk.

Nurse Joy: Well like I said before, it is a baby right now. I’m surprised it was able to protect you at all. I think you are what it needs to get that passion of battling into it. For right now, it seems it will only attack if someone is threatening you.

James: Well that’s fine for now. It can watch my other Pokemon battle. Maybe it’ll get inspired to battle from that.

Nurse Joy: It’s not a bad idea. Ohh boy. It’s getting late. Would you like to stay the night?

James: Yea. I’m not going back to the Power Plant at night. I’ll go back when I wake up.

Duskull: (shaking its head in agreement) Dusk! Kull!

Nurse Joy: I’ll show you to 1 of our rooms then.

James: Thank you Nurse Joy.

Nurse Joy brings James and Light to a room in the very back of the PokeCenter. She leaves and James and Light lay in bed next to each other, with a nightlight on, and peacefully fall asleep next to each other.

Ame - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting back in Kanto, James and Ame have become really close friends. Thanks to Ame, James has his own room in the Reborn Region inside the Grand Hall. While they are close friends, Ame is a really important person and always busy. So there's really no time for them 2 to hang out. But they value any time they have talking to each other.

Cain - MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Cain instantly hit it off. They basically are best friends. They've met twice after that. The next time they meet seems to have strengthen their friendship with James totally in love with Cain's singing even during a dangerous situation. The next time they meet is in the Beryl Cemetery. While they don't do their motto, their friendship seems to have gotten stronger. Although James is a bit annoyed Cain hasn't given him the key, he is willing to help out in his friends quest. They seem to have gotten even closer in their friendship since they broke out Heather and the other orphans out of the orphanage/psychiatric center. And they got to do their motto again, but as more of a distraction this time. It seems that there is nothing that can damage their friendship but only time will tell.

Victoria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Victoria have a good friendship. While it's not on the same level as Cain, these 2 are very good friends. They've met twice after their encounter at the Grand Hall. The 1st was in the Obsidia Ward. Victoria's concern for James' safety caused her to battle James in an attempt to have him not be in danger. She lost though and basically forced herself to have faith in him. Their other encounter is when the whole Corey situation happened. James helping Victoria with Shelly really increased their friendship level as well as him saving her from Aster & Eclipse. However, their friendship has hit a rocky road as Victoria was against the idea of James battling Shelly after she just got over, or at least attempting to try to get over, Corey's death.

Julia - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Julia and James were just acquaintances. Julia and her "boomings" at 1st kind of made James nervous around her but after spending some time around her, he somewhat kind of got into it as well. They have met twice since their encounter at the explosion of the train station. The 1st was when Julia invited James to come to help her, Fern and Florinia to go investigate the Power Plant. While they didn't interact with each other much, she did help him feel better when he started to feel it was kind of his fault that the train station bombing happened. They also kind of grew closer when James decided to blow up the door to get into the next room. The other time they met is when James went to Julia's gym to challenge her for her gym. Although she lost the battle, that didn't damage their friendship. They appear to have a regular friendship.

Fern - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James despises Fern. In fact, he's the only person James has been calling a twerp much like he did to Ash back in his Team Rocket days. James has met Fern a total of 5 times since their 1st meeting. James seemed to tolerate Fern when they teamed up back at the Power Plant situation. In fact, James somewhat forgave him for being a twerp, although he didn't really say it to Fern. However, since their encounter at the Onyx Trainer School, James went back to hating him. Their 3rd encounter really made James pissed off at Fern as not only did Fern tell James to beg if he wanted to be freed, but when he wouldn't oblige, Fern actually left James trapped in the cage. But the final straw was when James witnessed a suicide and Fern was just a complete jerk about it. Showed no emotion about a person taking his own life. The last time they meet, James completely loses it on Fern. He hates how he showed no compassion for Shelly during their Gym Battle and is fed up being called a loser, despite the fact Fern has never beat him in a battle let alone fainted any of his Pokémon. James completely hates Fern now and it seems there is nothing Fern can do to have James reverse his thoughts about him.

Florinia - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James wasn't sure how to think of Florinia. He always tried to be friendly towards her but she showed almost no emotion. They have met many times after the Power Plant incident but Florinia remained unemotional and James was still feeling awkward around her. That is, until around the last time they saw each other. James passed the test getting all 8 answers right which made Florinia kinda get closer with James in their friendship. Afterwards, while James was resting, as well as his Pokémon, Florinia asked him for a favor and after he accepted, for the 1st time, she smiled at him somewhat, showing some kind of emotion for the 1st time in front of him. Their friendship seems to have just gotten lifted off the ground.

Amaria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Amaria and James have a good friendship. They only hung around each other during the plant coming to life in Obsidia Ward but during that time, they formed a friendship. While James made Amaria confused about how to feel about him when Cain was around, she eventually figured he was a good guy and just liked to have fun. They grew closer when Amaria let him stay over night on her boat and also saving her from the vines that were strangling her and Florinia. Although they haven't seen each other since then, it is assumed that they are good friends.

Taka - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Taka and James are really only acquaintances but James somewhat respects Taka. Although they only met twice, James has somewhat of respect for Taka since he can see that he doesn't seem to like doing what he's doing. He still has some hatred towards him though simply for being apart of Team Meteor.

Corey - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James feels sorry for Corey. When he found out Corey was apart of Team Meteor, he was really angry at him and hated him for a short time. But since Corey committed suicide and James learned more about him, he understands him more and respects him.

Heather - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Heather have a pretty good friendship. Although, you wouldn't know that if you saw their 1st meeting. Heather was angry at James for beating up Team Meteor. But then the 2nd time they meet up, they team up somewhat to take on the masked Team Meteor Grunt, Taka and ZEL, making their friendship starting to blossom. After taking them out, Heather feels comfortable telling James about her family. When they last meet, she learns, thanks to James, that her father is part of Team Meteor. She respects James for treating her like a grown up and telling her the truth, even though it somewhat hurts. The last time they meet, Heather is happy to see James but is annoyed with his friend. While she does see James as her friend, she decided not to stay and goes off to Shelly to get away from Cain. While at Shelly, she encounters Cain and James again. Her annoyance for Cain increases as her friendship with James seems to stay the same. But now that the Doctor has done some sort of Electro-shock Therapy on her, she doesn't talk anymore. Their friendship seems to be increasing.

Shelly - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, Shelly and James have a strong friendship. When they 1st met, Shelly was all upset about the death of Heather's father. James tries everything he can to make Shelly happy and eventually, he does. At least, somewhat. Shelly apologizes for any friction she may have caused between James and Victoria which shows him that she cares about him. She feels comfortable telling him about her past. She gladly gives James the badge after his victory. The next time they meet is when Cain wants to make sure Heather, her best friend, is doing ok. Heather runs again and she lets out that her parents are dead, resulting in Heather being forced to be taken back to the orphanage/psychiatric center. James comforts her and reassures her that he's there to help her. Their whole team while taking on the orderlies as really heightened their friendship. Although, she didn't really know it before, she's seeing James as more of a friend now. Their friendship seems to keep growing as time goes on.

Anna - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Anna have a weird friendship connection. Also, a very small 1. When they 1st meet, Anna talks all crazy. Her and Noel dolls, burn scars that actually aren't on Charlotte. James is a bit weirded out by her. But by the end of his visit at the orphanage/psychiatric ward, he's happy to know what to tell Shelly to make her feel better thanks to Anna. When he, with Cain and Shelly, goes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to bust out Heather, Anna is shown to actually be somewhat smart and really peppy. Their friendship is somewhat rising.

Noel - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Noel don't really have a connection. Barely could be called acquaintances. Noel doesn't talk to James much and neither does James to Noel. But they don't hate each other. But since James, along with Cain and Shelly, comes back to bust Heather out of the orphanage/psychiatric center, Noel proves to be somewhat helpful. James seems quite fearful for Noel when the orderlies take him to a cell but is relieved to see he is ok. Their friendship seems to start to increase, although it's not certain if it will go any higher than it is now.

Charlotte - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Since their 1st meeting, James and Charlotte have a tiny friendship started. Well, at least James to Charlotte. In a weird way, Charlotte reminds James of Jessie. Now since James, with Cain and Shelly, comes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to break Heather out, Charlotte instantly helps out with distracting some orderlies but that worries James. He's glad to see she's ok when they get to her cell though. He sees that she's actually more dangerous than Jessie was but that doesn't scare him. They actually get closer while in the tunnel. James reveals to her about his past and she confesses that she actually likes the idea of having a motto with him and plans on doing it when things calm down more. Their friendship has grown a lot more since their 2nd meeting.

The next morning, James woke up.

James: Good morning Li- Huh? Wh-Where are…

James noticed that his Duskull wasn’t by his side. He looked throughout the room. He looked over to the window where the sun was shining into the room. That’s where he noticed Duskull was staring out the window. James smiled, got up and walked over to Duskull.

James: That sun is a beautiful sight isn’t it Light?

Duskull: Duskull!

James: Well, today’s the day that I take on Shade for his badge… Or its badge… How did he even become a Gym Leader?

Duskull: Kull Dusk.

James: Well anyways, I’m gonna train some of my Pokemon. I know you’re a little scared to battle right now but that’s ok. Maybe seeing the other Pokemon in battle will inspire you to want to battle.

Duskull: (floating around James cheerfully) Duskull Dusk!

James: Alright. Let’s go.

James and Duskull left the room and exited the PokeCenter. James was about to leave for the cave on the Grand Stairway but then he remembered that he couldn’t really return back to Reborn City with the police looking for him and his friends.

James: I could go to Amethyst and explain the situation to her. But she’s leading this whole Region and I don’t want to put that burden on her. Hmm. I suppose I could just go to the jungle to train. It’s not a bad spot. Alright. Come on Light!

Duskull: Duskull!

James and Duskull went to the jungle, which wasn’t that far from the Beryl Ward, and James started to train his Pokemon while Duskull watched. It was about 2 hours later when the training was done.

James: You all did good today. Let’s go back to the PokeCenter, heal up and then head over to the gym. We need to help with our gang. I hope they’re doing alright.

Duskull: Duskull Dusk.

James and Duskull returned back to the Beryl Ward’s PokeCenter. James healed his team and then headed over to Shade’s Gym. It was more lighter outside than last night, so James could see more into the room. A lot of electrical wires were exposed and laying around. It was a surprise to him that he didn’t actually grab onto those when he had to touch the walls to know where he was going. James opened the door and went inside. He noticed that the barricades that were in the way last night were no longer there.

James: Those buttons must have removed them but… What were those videos? They were horrifying. Mostly all just deaths. Well except for Amaria but… I can’t think about that now.

James and Duskull went all the way up they could before facing really big monitor.

James: Hello? I-I wanna challenge you to a Gym B-Battle Shade!

James looked all over the room but he didn’t see anyone. Then he had an impulse to look up and did. It was Shade.

He smiled. He had sharp teeth. James got a horrifying expression across his face but he knew he had to beat Shade in order to protect him and his friends.

James: Let’s do this!

It was a really tough battle. Especially for James considering he could only use 5 Pokemon with his Duskull not brave enough to battle yet but he came out on top and beat Shade. Shade floated back down in front of James and extended out his hand which contained his badge.

Shade:… Omen Badge.

James: Th-Thanks.

Shade: (turns around) Power? Activate.

James: Alright! We did it Light!

Shade: Monitor. Observe.

James looked at the monitor. It turned on and he could see the gang. The door that was locked and closed suddenly flew open. He could hear the gang talking.

Anna: Alright! James did it!

Team Meteor Admin: Hello there.

Charlotte: Who the hell are you?

Team Meteor Admin: My name is of no importance to you. Now then… Seize them.

James witnessed his friends being abducted by Team Meteor Grunts. When it was down to Cain, he ran away away from the Admin.

Cain: Go Nidoking! Now use Earthquake!

Nidoking did as Cain instructed and rocked the tunnel back and forth with its Earthquake atack and caused a huge crack to appear between him and Team Meteor.

Cain: That’ll have to do. Return Nidoking!

Cain then ran out of sight. James looked on in horror. Everything they did the previous night felt like it was for nothing.

Shade: So dying souls offer the key to your gain. Let not them suffer to the poison in vain.

Then Shade disappeared. James had no idea what he meant but he didn’t sit around to try to figure it out. He got out of the building, with Duskull right behind him, and ran as fast as he could to the Railnet Tunnel. When he reached the tunnel, he started yelling for Cain.

James: Cain?! Cain! You still in here?!

???: James? Is that you?!

James heard a familiar voice but it wasn’t Cain. He walked around a bend and saw Victoria where Cain had used his Nidoking to make the crack in the ground.

Victoria: Ohh thank Arceus you’re here James!

James: Where’s Cain?

Victoria: He told me everything that happened. About how you and he and Shelly broke the kids out of the orphanage. He told me that Team Meteor caught them not too long ago. He escaped but as you can see, you can’t get across to the other side.

James: Well how do we and you still didn’t answer my question on where Cain is.

Victoria: I’m getting to that point. After that, I told him the only thing that would work is the HM for Strength so you can move the boulders out of the way. And for that to happen, you need Kiki’s badge in order to get the HM.

James: Wait. Only to get it? What badge do you need in order to make it work?

Victoria: The Poison Type Gym Leader. And that would be Cains sister. She became the new Poison Type Gym leader when… Well-

James: Don’t remind me… I had to go through that again…

Victoria: Ahh… Sorry. Anyways, she’s in Byxbysion Wasteland.

James: I know. Cain told me before all of this happened. I went to look for him to get the key to access that place.

Victoria: Well… I guess you’re gonna be going after another badge huh?

James: Yea… Wait. Did you say Kiki before? I remember you talking about someone like that the day we met.

Victoria: You remember that?

James: Yea. But anyways, how do you get to the Academy?

Victoria: You have to go down to the Coral Ward and travel across to the other side of Azurine Lake to make it there. If you hurry, you might be able to catch him in time. Although, I don’t know how he’d get over there. Any Water Type Pokemon that touches that water will be badly hurt.

James: I have a feeling I know how he’s gonna do it. But thanks for the info. I have to catch him before he leaves!

Victoria: Good luck!

James started to run out of the tunnel. He was so focused on trying to get to Cain before he left, that he didn’t notice a wild Noibat was about to attack him. It swooped down from above and used Tackle onto James’ head, which caused him to fall to the ground.

James: Ow! What the- I don’t have time for this!

James was going for his PokeBall when Duskull came floating up and used Leer on the Noibat which scared the little Dragon Type Pokemon.

James: Light? Maybe… Light, use Trick Room!

Duskull did as James instructed it to do and used Trick Room. Now Duskull was faster than the Noibat. Noibat still was able to land an Absorb on Duskull, sucking some of its energy out of it.

James: Use Leer on Noibat like you did before!

Duskull did and it again scared the Pokemon, letting down its guard.

James: Now use your Night Shade attack!

Duskull: Dusk!

It did and the Noibat dropped to the ground, fainted. James looked at his Duskull in shock but also in happiness.

James: Light, you won your 1st battle!

Duskull: (with its eyes closed and smiling) Duskull Kull!

James: Did you want to battle?

Duskull shook its head no. This confused James. Why on earth would Duskull battle then. Then James realized something. Both times it battled was to protect him whether he was about to be attacked or was.

James: Light, have you only been battling to protect me?

Duskull: (shaking its head yes) Duskull Dusk.

James: You are such a sweet little Pokemon!

James then hugs his Pokemon. He then remembered about trying to catch up to Cain in Coral Ward.

James: Come on Light! We gotta catch up to Cain!

James ran as fast as he could. He ran through the lower part of the Peridot Ward, passed the Grand Hall and through Obsidia Ward. He finally made it to the Coral Ward. He slowed down more to catch up on his breath. He started walking around the Ward. It wasn’t a big place. He looked at all the docks and saw Cain standing on 1 of them. He quickly walked up to him.

James: Cain!

Cain: Ohh hi James. I’m guessing you heard what happened from Victoria?

James: Yea. Actually, I kinda saw it happen.

Cain: Huh? How?

James: Shade showed it to me. I’m not exactly sure how but it was weird and freaky in there.

Cain: Hehe. Well yea. I guess I wasn’t thinking straight when I had Nidoking use Earthquake.

James: That’s alright. You were trying to escape.

Cain: Yea but… They’re captured and I feel like it’s my fault.

James: (putting his hand on Cain’s shoulder) Dude it’s not. Victoria told me what you’re doing. You’re doing the right thing.

Cain: I guess I am. But still. Shelly. Charlotte… All of them… I promise you James. I promise you I’m gonna save them all.

James: I believe it. And I’m gonna help buddy.

Cain: How you gonna get across the water though?

James: I’ll find a way. You though. I know you’re gonna use a Poison Type to surf across. The toxins in the water won’t hurt them.

Cain: Haha. You smart ass.

Cain then sent out his A. Muk. It slimed its way to toward the edge of the dock and slipped into the water. Cain then on top of it.

Cain: I’m gonna go ahead. Hopefully, I’ll see you there James. Later!

James: Bye Cain.

Cain instructed his A. Muk to start swimming across to the Academy. James watched as they started to go out of sight. He turned around wondering how to get to Apophyll Academy. Suddenly, a door on a dock shed shot up and out came Amaria. This stunned James. He saw her in the video that she either jumped or got pushed off of some sort of ledge.

Amaria: Oh my god! James! It’s been so long! How you been?

James: Umm… No-Not so good. You?

Amaria: Pretty much the same. But I got some good news!

James: About what?

Amaria: Well, Ame has been trying to find out why the water has been so polluted and I’ve been helping her on that as well. Well, we just pinpointed where the toxins are coming from.

James: Where?!

Amaria: The Blacksteam Factory in West Peridot.

James: I remember that place. That’s where… Well that’s not important but I know where that’s at!

Amaria: Really? Hey. I just got a great idea. James, why don’t you come with me and help me. We might be able to clear the water of the toxins in it.

James: Of course I’ll help! This actually came up at a good time!

Amaria: Why?

James: Long story short, I need to cross the lake to get to Apophyll Academy.

Amaria: Ohh! Well sounds like this is the next best step in your journey. Come on James!

James and Amaria started their walk back to the Peridot Ward to see if they can stop the water from becoming anymore polluted.

James has met Fern a total of 5 times since their 1st meeting. James seemed to tolerate Fern when they teamed up back at the Power Plant situation. In fact, James somewhat forgave him for being a twerp, although he didn't really say it to Fern. However, since their encounter at the Onyx Trainer School, James went back to hating him. Their 3rd encounter really made James pissed off at Fern as not only did Fern tell James to beg if he wanted to be freed, but when he wouldn't oblige, Fern actually left James trapped in the cage. But the final straw was when James witnessed a suicide and Fern was just a complete jerk about it. Showed no emotion about a person taking his own life. The last time they meet, James completely loses it on Fern. He hates how he showed no compassion for Shelly during their Gym Battle and is fed up being called a loser, despite the fact Fern has never beat him in a battle let alone fainted any of his Pokémon. James completely hates Fern now and it seems there is nothing Fern can do to have James reverse his thoughts about him.

Florinia - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James wasn't sure how to think of Florinia. He always tried to be friendly towards her but she showed almost no emotion. They have met many times after the Power Plant incident but Florinia remained unemotional and James was still feeling awkward around her. That is, until around the last time they saw each other. James passed the test getting all 8 answers right which made Florinia kinda get closer with James in their friendship. Afterwards, while James was resting, as well as his Pokémon, Florinia asked him for a favor and after he accepted, for the 1st time, she smiled at him somewhat, showing some kind of emotion for the 1st time in front of him. Their friendship seems to have just gotten lifted off the ground.

CHANGE! Amaria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Amaria and James have a good friendship. They only hung around each other during the plant coming to life in Obsidia Ward but during that time, they formed a friendship. While James made Amaria confused about how to feel about him when Cain was around, she eventually figured he was a good guy and just liked to have fun. They grew closer when Amaria let him stay over night on her boat and also saving her from the vines that were strangling her and Florinia. After James sees the video of Amaria either being pushed off a cliff or throwing herself off a 1, he's been really worried about her. Seeing Amaria after seeing Cain has confused him but after learning about a possible cleaning of the water from pollution, he's more intended to help her out. Thus, their friendship has gotten a bit more stronger since their last encounter.

Taka - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Taka and James are really only acquaintances but James somewhat respects Taka. Although they only met twice, James has somewhat of respect for Taka since he can see that he doesn't seem to like doing what he's doing. He still has some hatred towards him though simply for being apart of Team Meteor.

Corey - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James feels sorry for Corey. When he found out Corey was apart of Team Meteor, he was really angry at him and hated him for a short time. But since Corey committed suicide and James learned more about him, he understands him more and respects him.

Heather - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Heather have a pretty good friendship. Although, you wouldn't know that if you saw their 1st meeting. Heather was angry at James for beating up Team Meteor. But then the 2nd time they meet up, they team up somewhat to take on the masked Team Meteor Grunt, Taka and ZEL, making their friendship starting to blossom. After taking them out, Heather feels comfortable telling James about her family. When they last meet, she learns, thanks to James, that her father is part of Team Meteor. She respects James for treating her like a grown up and telling her the truth, even though it somewhat hurts. The last time they meet, Heather is happy to see James but is annoyed with his friend. While she does see James as her friend, she decided not to stay and goes off to Shelly to get away from Cain. While at Shelly, she encounters Cain and James again. Her annoyance for Cain increases as her friendship with James seems to stay the same. But now that the Doctor has done some sort of Electro-shock Therapy on her, she doesn't talk anymore. Their friendship seems to be increasing.

Shelly - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, Shelly and James have a strong friendship. When they 1st met, Shelly was all upset about the death of Heather's father. James tries everything he can to make Shelly happy and eventually, he does. At least, somewhat. Shelly apologizes for any friction she may have caused between James and Victoria which shows him that she cares about him. She feels comfortable telling him about her past. She gladly gives James the badge after his victory. The next time they meet is when Cain wants to make sure Heather, her best friend, is doing ok. Heather runs again and she lets out that her parents are dead, resulting in Heather being forced to be taken back to the orphanage/psychiatric center. James comforts her and reassures her that he's there to help her. Their whole team while taking on the orderlies as really heightened their friendship. Although, she didn't really know it before, she's seeing James as more of a friend now. Their friendship seems to keep growing as time goes on.

Anna - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Anna have a weird friendship connection. Also, a very small 1. When they 1st meet, Anna talks all crazy. Her and Noel dolls, burn scars that actually aren't on Charlotte. James is a bit weirded out by her. But by the end of his visit at the orphanage/psychiatric ward, he's happy to know what to tell Shelly to make her feel better thanks to Anna. When he, with Cain and Shelly, goes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to bust out Heather, Anna is shown to actually be somewhat smart and really peppy. Their friendship is somewhat rising.

Noel - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Noel don't really have a connection. Barely could be called acquaintances. Noel doesn't talk to James much and neither does James to Noel. But they don't hate each other. But since James, along with Cain and Shelly, comes back to bust Heather out of the orphanage/psychiatric center, Noel proves to be somewhat helpful. James seems quite fearful for Noel when the orderlies take him to a cell but is relieved to see he is ok. Their friendship seems to start to increase, although it's not certain if it will go any higher than it is now.

Charlotte - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Since their 1st meeting, James and Charlotte have a tiny friendship started. Well, at least James to Charlotte. In a weird way, Charlotte reminds James of Jessie. Now since James, with Cain and Shelly, comes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to break Heather out, Charlotte instantly helps out with distracting some orderlies but that worries James. He's glad to see she's ok when they get to her cell though. He sees that she's actually more dangerous than Jessie was but that doesn't scare him. They actually get closer while in the tunnel. James reveals to her about his past and she confesses that she actually likes the idea of having a motto with him and plans on doing it when things calm down more. Their friendship has grown a lot more since their 2nd meeting.

James and Amaria were close to reaching the Blacksteam Factory.

James: So what do you think is causing the pollution to the water?

Amaria: I’m not sure. But I have a feeling I know who’s behind it.

James & Amaria: Team Meteor.

James and Amaria reached the Factory. This brought back a memory of James beating Fern when he was exploring the Ward the 1st time he was here. Amaria went up to the steel door and tried to open it but to no avail.

James: I could have told you that wouldn’t have worked.

Amaria: Could still have worked. Hmm.

Amaria looked all over the building. She looked up at top of the factory and smiled.

James: Seems like you just though of something.

Amaria: Ohh I did. Come out Deliverance! I need your help!

Out came a Lapras. Amaria came over and pet it.

Amaria: We need your help. We need to get up on top of that building. So use Waterfall and then Ice Beam to form stairs!

Lapras did as it was told and a way up to the top of the building was formed.

Amaria: Thanks Deliverance. Return!

James: Wow. That’s pretty smart of you.

Amaria: Thanks! But it’s slippery so be careful.

Amaria went up to frozen staircase no problem. James, on the other hand, kept slipping and falling but eventually got up it.

Amaria: Uhh… You ok James?

James: Just a bit bruised but I’ll be fine.

Amaria: Good. By the way, that’s a nice Duskull you have there.

James: Thanks. It’s a baby though.

Amaria: Aww. It’s adorable. And shiny! That’s a rare find. But why isn’t it in its PokeBall.

James: It’s afraid of the dark and-

Amaria: Wait. Your Duskull is scared of the dark? A Ghost Type Pokemon is scared of the dark?

James: It’ll get over its fear sometime but right now, I’m letting it travel with me outside its PokeBall. But hey. Lets focus on the task at hand.

Amaria: Ohh yea. Almost forgot about that. Haha.

James and Amaria walk into a room. As they explore it, 2 Team Meteor Grunts run in and try to stop them.

Both Team Meteor Grunts: Stop!

James: Yea no.

Amaria: Come James. Help me out with them.

James: But of course.

In a matter of seconds, the 2 Team Meteor Grunts were defeated.

James: Do you really need my help with this?

Amaria: Shut up and let’s keep going.

They both continued to the next room but were caught off guard by how many Team Grunts were in there.

James: Arceus. There’s a lot of them.

Amaria: James. I need you to trust me and run ahead.

James: But-

Amaria: Just trust me! Go Deliverance and Atlantica!

Out popped out the Lapras and a Kingdra. They both sprayed water out of their mouths, making the Team Meteor Grunts move out of the way. James, along with his Duskull, took the opportunity and ran ahead past the Team Meteor Grunts.

Team Meteor Grunt: Ohh that’s it girly. You’re done for!

James decided to try to sneak around in the room. A couple of minutes later, James entered a room. A mysterious man came out of hiding.

James: Who are you?

Team Meteor Admin: You are such an annoyance. But luckily, we won’t have to deal with you anymore.

James: Huh?

Team Meteor Admin: Goodbye.

The Team Meteor Admin pushed a button hidden out of James’ view. The floor underneath James feet went away and James feel down, with the Duskull floating down with him. James landed into another room.

James: Ow! That was unexpected. Are you ok Light?

Duskull: (shaking its head yes) Duskull.

James looked around the room. He could see Pokemon were all inside cages. This reminded him of his Team Rocket Days. But, it didn’t make him happy thinking about them. A Team Meteor Grunt in front of the cell looked in and saw James.

Team Meteor Grunt: A human is in there? Well whatever. Have a nice time in there with all the Pokemon we stole while pretending to be the Old Daycare Couple.

The Team Meteor Grunt then turned back around. James decided to try to find a way out. He went a visited all the Pokemon in the cages. After a while, he started to hear a voice in his head.

???: Please. Come. Come to the cage in the back.

James: Huh? What was that?

???: I am speaking to you telepathically.

James: Who are you?

???: Come to the back and look in the cage in the middle.

James followed the instructions that was given to him. He searched every cage trying to find the person who was talking to him telepathically. Instead all he found was an Abra.

???: What are you doing? You’ve been going back and forth away from me.

James: Where are you? I can’t find you.

???: What? I am right in front of you, in this cage.

James looked and got a shocked expression on his face.

James: Are… Are you the Abra?

Abra: Yes. I am.

James: I don’t know what to say.

Abra: You don’t belong here. You’re 1 of the good humans.

James: Well thanks I-

Abra: Don’t worry about your past. What your actions show here tells me what kind of a person you are and you are good.

James: Did you just read my mind?

Abra: Yes. Now don’t worry about that. But as I have said before, you don’t belong here.

James: Why don’t you just teleport out of here?

Abra: I wish to try to help the Pokemon here.

James: I wish I could help.

Abra: I know this. But you have a bigger task at hand. Leave this to me. I will help you get out of here.

James: How?

Abra and James came up with a plan to use Abra’s teleporting abilites on the other Pokemon. There was an empty cage in front of the cell. But with the Team Meteor Grunt guarding the cell, they couldn’t do it secretly. James had Abra teleport Cyndaquil into the cage 1st. Then, he had Loudred cream in his ears so that he couldn’t really hear. Next, he went over to Jigglypuff. Before asking it to sing, he had Abra use his telepathic powers to keep the Pokemon in the cage in front of the cell awake. Everyone would fall asleep except for James and the Pokemon in front of the cell. If Abra wasn’t using it’s psychic powers for another Pokemon, it would be able to stay awake. James instructed the Cyndaquil to use Flamethrower on the steel bars. And then the whole process would happen again, next with Vanillite and having it use Ice Beam and then with Roggenrola and having it use Rock Blast. The cell bars were now broken. Before escaping, he went back to Abra.

James: Thank you for saving not just me but my Pokemon as well.

Abra: It is no problem. Before you leave, I have something to tell you. It’s about your Duskull.

James: What’s that?

Abra: It is on the verge of wanting to battle/to train with you. I believe if it sees 1 more big important battle, that thinking of not wanting to battle because of no bravery will be broken.

James: Tha-That’s amazing! Thank you Abra.

Abra: It is no trouble my friend.

James: I swear, someday I will rescue you.

Abra: Heh. If that day ever comes, I will be forever grateful of being 1 of your many companions on your journey. Farewell.

James escaped the cell and sneaked into the next room. He found a panel with a button on it. He pressed it and a door a little bit down the hallway could be heard opening. He cautiously walked down it and went through it. He could see that he was outside of the building.

James: Well at least we have an escape route just in case things get too hectic in there. Let’s go Light!

Duskull: Dusk!

James and Duskull went back in. As they continued sneaking through the building, James came across 2 steel gates blocking a room in front of him.

James: I’m not a betting man but I’m guessing that room is the room I should be getting into.

James looked around the room. All that was there was a computer with a deactivation button on it. James decided to press it. He looked at the gates and the 1 in front of him went back into the wall.

James: Hmm. I wonder where the other 1 is.

He knew he didn’t see when he was sneaking in the hallways. He remembered there was a door at the top of where he exited the room with the cell. He went up there and found himself where he was when Amaria was.

James: Ohh geez. I almost forgot about her. I wonder where she is. She might be in that room. I have to get that last gate out of the way. Where could that computer be?

James searched the rooms. At last in the last room he checked, there was a computer with a disable button on it. He pressed it and could hear mechanical stuff whirring. He snuck back and saw that the last gate was down. He and Duskull hid on the side of the door. James whispered something to it and then they went in.

zEl: Ohh great. It’s you.

James: And it’s you!… Or all 3 of you?

zEl: Funny.

Team Meteor Admin: You are becoming an annoyance. But I will give you some credit for getting out of that cell and past our gates. Come up here and let me show you the PULSE Machine.

zEl: He already knows what a PULSE Machine is. He’s the 1 we’ve been telling you about.

Team Meteor Admin: I know. I still want to show him this though. This PULSE Muk is what is causing the water in Reborn City to be toxic. And look at the Muk. This machine is sucking out all the life force of this Pokemon. It’s truly amazing isn’t it?

James: That’s horrible!

James then looked up at his Duskull and gave a thumbs up.

Team Meteor Admin: Perhaps. But you won’t be able to do anything about it! Garchomp! Dragon Rush!

Amaria: Atlantica! Ice Beam!

Before the Garchomp could lay a part of its body on James, a beam of ice hit the monstrous Dragon Type Pokemon and froze it in place.

Amaria came running in and jumped down from the floor above.

Amaria: Ohh my Arceus! Are you ok?!

James: Yea. I’m fine. I expected something like this but having you here was an added bonus.

Team Meteor Admin: But I don’t understand. Garchomp is fast. How did it not hit you before being hit by that Ice Beam.

Duskull: (smiling) Duskull Kull.

James: I had Light here secretly use Trick Room so that slow Pokemon would move faster.

Team Meteor Admin: Hmph. Smart move. If that had connected, you would have been out of Team Meteor’s affair.

Amaria: Why are you poisoning the Azurine Lake? You’re not only hurting the Pokemon but also making people leave Reborn!

Team Meteor Admin: Exactly. Reborn City should be deserted. Team Meteor doesn’t want anyone here anymore. And you’ll never be able to clear the pollution in the water now!

Amaria: That’s horrible! Well now you’ll be dealing with me.

Team Meteor Admin: Hmm. Interesting.

James: Umm… Why did you voice change like that?

Team Meteor Admin: How did you obtain that little piece of jewelry?

Amaria: You mean my Sapphire Bracelet? Titania gave it to me. You’re not gonna take this away from me! I’ll protect it with my life!

Team Meteor Admin: So be it.

Amaria: James. Try to destroy the PULSE Machine while I’m busy with this guy!

Zel: Ohh hell no. You’re not destroying anything!

James: Bring it on then!

The Tyranitar made a fist and with all of its power punched Amaria square in the stomach.

James: Amaria!

Solaris: Farewell.

Solaris then left. James ran over to Amaria and tried to help her to her feet.

James: Oh my Arceus! Are you ok?!

Amaria: I’m… I’m fine. I just wans’t… expecting that.

James: I can’t believe he did that. I mean I’ve had Pokemon attack me before but… Never anything like that.

Amaria: (getting back to her feet) I’ll be fine… Ugh. Return Atlantica.

James: Where you going?

Amaria: I’m gonna go back home.

James: Can you make it back on your own?

Amaria: I will. Don’t worry about- Ow. About me.

James: Where do you even live?

Amaria: North of Reborn C-City is the Aventurine Re-Region… That’s where.

James: Well… Is there anything I can do to help?

Amaria: No no. I’ll be fine.

James: I hope.

Amaria: By the way, while the water is badly poisoned, the Water Treatment Center will have it cleared up. Ugh… I should go back now. Titania is waiting for me. Hehe. Ohh yea. James take this.

Amaria handed over the key to her dock shed to James.

Amaria: We took care of the problem and you helped. And plus something tells me you need that boat now more than I’ll ever need it in the future.

James: Thanks Amaria. And thanks for saving me back then.

Amaria: No problem James. I’ll- Ow! I’ll see you later.

Amaria then stumbled her way out of the building. James followed suit. He headed back down to the Coral Ward. He was almost to the stairs that lead down when a man nearby called him over to his table.

Fisherman Salesman: Sir! Sir!

James: Who? Me?

Fisherman Salesman: Yes! You sir! I have an offer you can’t possibly refuse!

James: What’s that?

The fisherman salesman then took out a Luvdisc showing it to James.

Fisherman Salesman: Do you know what this is!?

James: A Luvdisc?

Fisherman Salesman: Not only is it a Luvdisc but it’s the world’s strongest Luvdisc! I’ve seen it take down monsters like Gyarados and Wailord! And I’m offering you this strong Luvdisc for just a small prive of $1000!

James: Really?! But why would you want to get rid of this Pokemon if it’s so strong?

Fisherman Salesman: You seem like an excellent trainer who could contain this beast of a Pokemon! So what do you sir?!

James: I’ll take it!

James then hands the Fisherman Slaesman $1000 and the Fisherman Salesman hands James the “powerful” Luvdisc.

Fisherman Salesman: Thank you oh so much for this purchase!

James: You’re welcome!

The Fisherman Salesman then quickly packs up his stuff and runs off. James then continues walking to Coral Ward but starts thinking about what just happened.

James: That’s weird. I’m having the weirdest case of deja vu right now.

James reached the dock shed and used the key Amaria gave him to unlock the door. He then went inside and went inside the boat. He got into the driving section of the boat and started it. As he drove the boat, he decided to use the Pokedex to learn more about the Luvdisc that he just purchased. When he looked up the level of Luvdisc, he got a disappointed look on his face.

James: AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Ame - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting back in Kanto, James and Ame have become really close friends. Thanks to Ame, James has his own room in the Reborn Region inside the Grand Hall. While they are close friends, Ame is a really important person and always busy. So there's really no time for them 2 to hang out. But they value any time they have talking to each other.

Cain - MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Cain instantly hit it off. They basically are best friends. The next time they meet seems to have strengthen their friendship with James totally in love with Cain's singing even during a dangerous situation. The next time they meet is in the Beryl Cemetery. While they don't do their motto, their friendship seems to have gotten stronger. Although James is a bit annoyed Cain hasn't given him the key, he is willing to help out in his friends quest. They seem to have gotten even closer in their friendship since they broke out Heather and the other orphans out of the orphanage/psychiatric center. And they got to do their motto again, but as more of a distraction this time. After winning his 4th badge, he witnesses Team Meteor kidnapping everyone but Cain. After meeting Cain at the Coral Ward, he appreciates Cain even more with his determination of wanting to save the gang. It seems that there is nothing that can damage their friendship but only time will tell.

Victoria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Victoria have a good friendship. While it's not on the same level as Cain, these 2 are very good friends. The next time they meet is in the Obsidia Ward. Victoria's concern for James' safety caused her to battle James in an attempt to have him not be in danger. She lost though and basically forced herself to have faith in him. Their other encounter is when the whole Corey situation happened. James helping Victoria with Shelly really increased their friendship level as well as him saving her from Aster & Eclipse. However, their friendship hit a rocky road as Victoria was against the idea of James battling Shelly after she just got over, or at least attempting to try to get over, Corey's death. But she seems to have forgiven James for it since learning about the gangs abduction. Their friendship seems to have gotten to the point of the 1st time they met at Grand Hall.

Julia - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Julia and James were just acquaintances. Julia and her "boomings" at 1st kind of made James nervous around her but after spending some time around her, he somewhat kind of got into it as well. They have met twice since their encounter at the explosion of the train station. The 1st was when Julia invited James to come to help her, Fern and Florinia to go investigate the Power Plant. While they didn't interact with each other much, she did help him feel better when he started to feel it was kind of his fault that the train station bombing happened. They also kind of grew closer when James decided to blow up the door to get into the next room. The other time they met is when James went to Julia's gym to challenge her for her gym. Although she lost the battle, that didn't damage their friendship. They appear to have a regular friendship.

Despite that though, Amaria is appreciative of James help and slowly walks off home. Their friendship has definitely grown a lot since their little adventure in the Blacksteam Factory.

Taka - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Taka and James are really only acquaintances but James somewhat respects Taka. Although they only met twice, James has somewhat of respect for Taka since he can see that he doesn't seem to like doing what he's doing. Corey - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James feels sorry for Corey. When he found out Corey was apart of Team Meteor, he was really angry at him and hated him for a short time. But since Corey committed suicide and James learned more about him, he understands him more and respects him.

Heather - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Heather have a pretty good friendship. Although, you wouldn't know that if you saw their 1st meeting. Heather was angry at James for beating up Team Meteor. But then the 2nd time they meet up, they team up somewhat to take on the masked Team Meteor Grunt, Taka and ZEL, making their friendship starting to blossom. After taking them out, Heather feels comfortable telling James about her family. When they last meet, she learns, thanks to James, that her father is part of Team Meteor. She respects James for treating her like a grown up and telling her the truth, even though it somewhat hurts. The last time they meet, Heather is happy to see James but is annoyed with his friend. While she does see James as her friend, she decided not to stay and goes off to Shelly to get away from Cain. While at Shelly, she encounters Cain and James again. Her annoyance for Cain increases as her friendship with James seems to stay the same. But now that the Doctor has done some sort of Electro-shock Therapy on her, she doesn't talk anymore. Their friendship seems to be increasing.

Shelly - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, Shelly and James have a strong friendship. When they 1st met, Shelly was all upset about the death of Heather's father. James tries everything he can to make Shelly happy and eventually, he does. At least, somewhat. Shelly apologizes for any friction she may have caused between James and Victoria which shows him that she cares about him. She feels comfortable telling him about her past. She gladly gives James the badge after his victory. The next time they meet is when Cain wants to make sure Heather, her best friend, is doing ok. Heather runs again and she lets out that her parents are dead, resulting in Heather being forced to be taken back to the orphanage/psychiatric center. James comforts her and reassures her that he's there to help her. Their whole team while taking on the orderlies as really heightened their friendship. Although, she didn't really know it before, she's seeing James as more of a friend now. Their friendship seems to keep growing as time goes on.

Anna - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Anna have a weird friendship connection. Also, a very small 1. When they 1st meet, Anna talks all crazy. Her and Noel dolls, burn scars that actually aren't on Charlotte. James is a bit weirded out by her. But by the end of his visit at the orphanage/psychiatric ward, he's happy to know what to tell Shelly to make her feel better thanks to Anna. When he, with Cain and Shelly, goes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to bust out Heather, Anna is shown to actually be somewhat smart and really peppy. Their friendship is somewhat rising.

Noel - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James and Noel don't really have a connection. Barely could be called acquaintances. Noel doesn't talk to James much and neither does James to Noel. But they don't hate each other. But since James, along with Cain and Shelly, comes back to bust Heather out of the orphanage/psychiatric center, Noel proves to be somewhat helpful. James seems quite fearful for Noel when the orderlies take him to a cell but is relieved to see he is ok. Their friendship seems to start to increase, although it's not certain if it will go any higher than it is now.

Charlotte - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Since their 1st meeting, James and Charlotte have a tiny friendship started. Well, at least James to Charlotte. In a weird way, Charlotte reminds James of Jessie. Now since James, with Cain and Shelly, comes back to the orphanage/psychiatric center to break Heather out, Charlotte instantly helps out with distracting some orderlies but that worries James. He's glad to see she's ok when they get to her cell though. He sees that she's actually more dangerous than Jessie was but that doesn't scare him. They actually get closer while in the tunnel. James reveals to her about his past and she confesses that she actually likes the idea of having a motto with him and plans on doing it when things calm down more. Their friendship has grown a lot more since their 2nd meeting.

While I followed this to read a while back, I never got around to it. Already started and liking it.

I never knew people actually used 'deff' as a shortened word, which just sounds weird to me. I can see Cain using it, though it feels weirder with in-game Ame........

James: I can’t believe that I fell for that strong fish Pokemon AGAIN! Ugh. Well I won’t just release this Pokémon.

Duskull: Duskull?

James: I’ll just put it into the PC Storage Unit for now. Anyways… We’re almost there Light.

Duskull: (smiling) Dusk!

James was quite impressed that the boat wasn’t all broken up by the toxins in the water. Must be 1 sturdy boat.

Duskull: (tugging on James’ jacket) Duskull! Kull!

James: What is it Light?

James looked out the window and could see land.

James: Well looks like we’ll be arriving soon. You ready buddy?

Duskull: (shaking its head yes) Dusk Duskull!

In a couple of minutes, the boat reached a beach. James and Duskull came off the boat and onto the beach. They looked all around.

James: Hmm. What an odd place to put an Academy. But I’m sure the students have a fun time when there’s no class. But I wonder where the actual Academy is?

Fisherman: Hey. How’s it going buddy?

James: I’m fine. Hey. Do you know where the Apophyll Academy is?

Fisherman: Sure! You go up that way and it’s to the left. Can’t miss the building. But hey. Before you go, want to have a quick battle?

James: I would!

James went to grab 1 of the PokeBalls from his belt. But to his surprise, Duskull floated in front of him with a determined expression on its face.

James: Light, are you saying you want to battle?

Duskull: Duskull! Dusk!

James: This is great! (thinking to himself) That Abra was right. Light must have wanted to battle after witnessing that big battle with ZEL back in the factory.

James battled with Duskull against the Fisherman. It was a tough battle for Duskull but it came out on top.

Fisherman: Whew. That was a good battle. That Duskull of yours sure is something.

James: Thanks. This was actually its 1st real battle.

Fisherman: Really? Well I’m glad I could give it at least a decent battle.

James: Thanks. Haha. Come on Light. We gotta get to the Academy.

James and Duskull continue their way towards the Academy but also explore the beach. The other people and students that were there wanted to battle. James’ Pokemon, including his Duskull, got much needed training thanks to them. James finally made it to the front of the Academy. It looked more like a dojo but he could see the Academy look to it. He walked in. The place looked simple inside. There was another door in front of him leading what seemed to a battle field. It indeed was a battle field. James was actually impressed with the place. James went through another door. A student who was blocking another doorway called him over.

Student: Can I help you with something?

James: I’m here to see Kiki. You know where she is.

Student: Ohh. I believe she’s down at the Training Grounds right now. You can go there now if you’d like.

James: Where’s that at?

Student: Just go out of the building and keep going down. You can’t miss it.

James: Alright. Thanks!

James listened to the student and in no time was at the Training Grounds. He looked around and saw a group of people standing in a circle. He want to an opening and saw a girl standing in the middle. He went up to her.

James: Hello. Are you by chance Kiki?

Kiki: I am. Who are you?

James: My name’s James.

Kiki: Hello James. Are you a new student here?

James: No. I’m just visiting. I actually need to ask you for something.

Kiki: Ahh. I see. Well I am in the middle of teaching a class here but it will be over in a couple of minutes. If you would like to, you may observe.

James: Well, alright. I’ll sit over here.

James went over to a rock and stood against it. He listened as Kiki was talking about how a Pokemon’s appearance is something like that of a person's appearance.

Kiki: 1 part of a Pokemon’s body could look horrible and scary but the other parts could be sweet and adorable and nice. A person could come up to another and ask for money. That person could think that the other person is just looking for money while the truth is that person is trying to get money to help feed his daughter. They’re not always as they seem. That’s all for today’s class.

James: That was a very interesting class. I can relate to that in some aspect.

Kiki: I see. I’m glad. So what is it that you need.

James: I came here because I need the HM for Strength.

Kik. Ahh. Let’s go back to my room and discuss this more alright?

James: Sure.

Kiki left for her room and James followed suit albeit a little behind. James was about to go through the door to the battle field when he heard a voice call out to him.

Victoria: James! You got here!

James: Whoa. I wasn’t expecting you. Did you just get here?

Victoria: Yea. Hey. Do you know where Sensei Kiki is?

James: I think she’s in her room now.

Victoria: Excellent. Meet me in her room James.

Victoria then rushed off.

Academy Student Girl: You know Victoria?!

James: Umm… Yes?

Academy Student Girl: That’s wonderful! Victoria is 1 of the, if not, the smartest students of all here in the Apophyll Academy. Kiki chose her to be her personal apprentice?

James: Hmm. Sounds like Victoria has some achievements here. Well I gotta catch up to them.

James left and hurried over to Kiki’s room. When he entered, he could see and hear the conversation between Kiki and Victoria.

Kiki: So you need the HM for Strength to save the kinds. This trainer here also wishes to gain access to this HM. I assume this is no coincidence.

Victoria: No it is not. James here is also trying to save the children.

Kiki: Well I admire what you’re trying to do. But you know the rules here. Only graduating students may receive this HM. So I must ask you this question. Were you able to complete my task and challenge and beat the league.

Victoria: I was not able to unfortunately Sensei. So many other things kept coming up.

Kiki: I see. It’s unfortunate but some things just aren’t meant to be.

Victoria: Then I wish to apply for graduation.

Kiki: Ahh. Finally. I’ve been waiting for the day for you to graduate. And with my conditioning worsening…

Victoria: Kiki…

Kiki: Nevermind that my child. But the preparation for your graduation will take some time. Plus, you must also remember that that HM only works with another badge.

James: Ohh! Well that’s no problem! James can get that badge no problem.

Kiki: So you intend to pass it off to a stranger regardless. Hmm. Very well. James, you shall have to pass a test of your own.

James: Ok. What is that?

Kiki: There is a trainer on top of Pyrous Mountain that I would like you to battle.

Victoria: No… You don’t mean-

Kiki: Victoria, have faith in your friend. If you are victorious against him, tell me and then we will battle for the HM.

James: (annoyed) That seems fair. Alright then. I’m off.

Victoria: Wait!

But James didn’t. He rushed out as soon as he could. He was just about to go towards Pyrous Mountain when Victoria rushed out and yelled out to James.

Victoria: Wait James!

James: Huh? What is it Victoria?

Victoria: I just wanted to wish you good luck James. The trainer Kiki is talking about… His name is Cal. He used to be Reborn’s own Fire Type Gym Leader but retired.

James: Why?

Victoria: I’m umm… Not entirely sure. But listen he’s really strong and really cute and -

James: Wait. Cute?

Victoria: Oh my god. I did NOT just say that.

James: Hahaha. You got a crush on him don’t you?

Victoria: Shut up. By the way, you need to get the lava to the lower floors in order to keep going up. Well, good luck. I know I don’t need any. I AM the best student here in Apophyll Academy.

Victoria then turned around and went back into the Academy. James, along with his Duskull, walked to Pyrous Mountain. They made it and stood in front of the cave entrance.

James: Well… It’s time to do this. You ready for this Light?

Duskull: Duskull!

They went in and were completely overwhelmed with the heat. But James charged through it and found a way to drain the lava from the upper floors. It took a while but he was finally able to get to the top of the mountain.

James: Ugh! I never wanna do that AGAIN! Now then, where is that guy?

James and Duskull looked across the mountain top.

Duskull: Kull Kull Dusk!

James: What is it Light?

Duskull pointed to across to the other side of the mountain. James looked and could see someone standing there. He walked around and made it to the person.

James: Umm… Hi. I’m James.

???…

James: Uhhhh…

Cal: My name is Cal. So let me guess. Kiki sent you up here to battle me right?

James: That’s right.

Cal: I figured as much. But I owe her a lot. If it wasn’t for her, I’d have a lot of aggression and anger still pent up in me.

James: Why?

Cal: I’ve always been 2nd best to my brother Blake. My parents would praise everything he would do. But me? My sloppy seconds meant nothing. I always tried to be better than him. But nothing ever worked. I got away from them. Hey. Have you ever met a girl named Shelly?

James: Yea. Why you ask?

Cal: She seems really timid right?

James: Yeees?

Cal: That is probably might fault.

James: What do you mean?!

Cal: Well see, me and her connected on some level thanks to our families being very similar. I assume she’s told you about her family from Johto. We got along together because of that. But 1 day, Shelly said something bad but it was an accident. And I… I regret doing what I did to her that day. But because of that, I’ve been at a better place.

James: But that doesn’t sound all that good for her. I mean, what did you-

Cal: Ohh I’m sorry. I’m rambling. I have no more anger in me anymore though. I wonder what’s inside me? A battle might help me figure that out.

It was a really tough battle but James was JUST able to beat Cal.

Cal: Hmph. That was a tremendous battle James.

James: Well thanks… You have a good team there.

Cal: Thanks. But to be honest, I only used these Pokemon to counter my brother’s Ice Types. Stupid.

James: Well I mean-

Cal: Sorry. I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable. But you defeated me. Go tell Kiki. I have to get back to my work. That is to say, meditation.

James: Well ok then.

James left as Cal remained on top of the mountain. James made it all the way down the mountain and out. He hoped he would never have to go through that again. As James was about to go tell Kiki about his victory over Cal, he heard a girl talking about wanting a certain Pokemon.

Academy Student Girl: (sighing) I wish I had a Luvdisc. They’re so nice and cute looking. Reborn has become so toxic lately. It’d be a beautiful thing I could adore and care for everyday. But I don’t know where they are.

As soon as James heard that, he ran to the nearest PC and got the Luvdisc out and ran over to the girl.

Academy Student Girl: Whoa! Wh-What do you want?

James: Sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you. I heard you talking about wanting a Luvdisc. Sooo I was wondering if you wanted to trade Pokemon with me.

Academy Student Girl: Really?! Of course! Would you want a Darumaka?

James: Hmm. Sounds strong and interesting. Yea. I’d love to have a Darumaka.

The 2 then went to trading port and traded their Pokemon.

Academy Student Girl: Oh my Arceus! Thank you so much sir!

James: No problem. Take care now!

The girl walked away. James held the PokeBall with Darumaka in it.

James: Hey Light. Wanna meet our new friend?

Duskull: (shaking its head yes) Duskull!

James: Alright then. Come on out Darumaka!

James threw the PokeBall into the air and out popped the Darumaka. It looked around and then turned around and looked up to James.

James: Hi. I’m your new trainer. I’m James and this is my Duskull called Light.

Duskull: (smiling at Darumaka) Duskull.

The Darumaka just kept staring up at James for a couple more seconds. Then it started to jump to the left and right out of happiness. It then accidentally spit out and ember and hit James in the face, which seemed to make the little Pokemon even happier.

James: Ohh boy. You’re gonna be trouble aren’t you?

Darumaka: (jumping to the right and left smiling) Daru Darumaka!

James: -sigh- Ohh well. You know… I think before we go to Kiki, We should train you up a bit. How does that sound to you buddy?

Darumaka: Daru!

James saw the ember coming at him this time and dodged it.

James: Ohh boy. You’re gonna be a handful.

Ame - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting back in Kanto, James and Ame have become really close friends. Thanks to Ame, James has his own room in the Reborn Region inside the Grand Hall. While they are close friends, Ame is a really important person and always busy. So there's really no time for them 2 to hang out. But they value any time they have talking to each other.

Cain - MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Cain instantly hit it off. They basically are best friends. The next time they meet seems to have strengthen their friendship with James totally in love with Cain's singing even during a dangerous situation. The next time they meet is in the Beryl Cemetery. While they don't do their motto, their friendship seems to have gotten stronger. Although James is a bit annoyed Cain hasn't given him the key, he is willing to help out in his friends quest. They seem to have gotten even closer in their friendship since they broke out Heather and the other orphans out of the orphanage/psychiatric center. And they got to do their motto again, but as more of a distraction this time. After winning his 4th badge, he witnesses Team Meteor kidnapping everyone but Cain. After meeting Cain at the Coral Ward, he appreciates Cain even more with his determination of wanting to save the gang. It seems that there is nothing that can damage their friendship but only time will tell.

CHANGE! Victoria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Victoria have a good friendship. While it's not on the same level as Cain, these 2 are very good friends. The next time they meet is in the Obsidia Ward. Victoria's concern for James' safety caused her to battle James in an attempt to have him not be in danger. She lost though and basically forced herself to have faith in him. Their other encounter is when the whole Corey situation happened. James helping Victoria with Shelly really increased their friendship level as well as him saving her from Aster & Eclipse. However, their friendship hit a rocky road as Victoria was against the idea of James battling Shelly after she just got over, or at least attempting to try to get over, Corey's death. But she seems to have forgiven James for it since learning about the gangs abduction. James is surprised but respects Victoria more with her trying to save the gang with her returning to Apophyll Academy to try to obtain the HM for Strength. Their friendship seems to be growing more and more each time they meet.

Julia - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Julia and James were just acquaintances. Julia and her "boomings" at 1st kind of made James nervous around her but after spending some time around her, he somewhat kind of got into it as well. They have met twice since their encounter at the explosion of the train station. The 1st was when Julia invited James to come to help her, Fern and Florinia to go investigate the Power Plant. While they didn't interact with each other much, she did help him feel better when he started to feel it was kind of his fault that the train station bombing happened. They also kind of grew closer when James decided to blow up the door to get into the next room. The other time they met is when James went to Julia's gym to challenge her for her gym. Although she lost the battle, that didn't damage their friendship. They appear to have a regular friendship.

Fern - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James despises Fern. In fact, he's the only person James has been calling a twerp much like he did to Ash back in his Team Rocket days. James has met Fern a total of 5 times since their 1st meeting. James seemed to tolerate Fern when they teamed up back at the Power Plant situation. In fact, James somewhat forgave him for being a twerp, although he didn't really say it to Fern. However, since their encounter at the Onyx Trainer School, James went back to hating him. Their 3rd encounter really made James pissed off at Fern as not only did Fern tell James to beg if he wanted to be freed, but when he wouldn't oblige, Fern actually left James trapped in the cage. But the final straw was when James witnessed a suicide and Fern was just a complete jerk about it. Showed no emotion about a person taking his own life. The last time they meet, James completely loses it on Fern. He hates how he showed no compassion for Shelly during their Gym Battle and is fed up being called a loser, despite the fact Fern has never beat him in a battle let alone fainted any of his Pokémon. James completely hates Fern now and it seems there is nothing Fern can do to have James reverse his thoughts about him.

Florinia - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting, James wasn't sure how to think of Florinia. He always tried to be friendly towards her but she showed almost no emotion. They have met many times after the Power Plant incident but Florinia remained unemotional and James was still feeling awkward around her. That is, until around the last time they saw each other. James passed the test getting all 8 answers right which made Florinia kinda get closer with James in their friendship. Afterwards, while James was resting, as well as his Pokémon, Florinia asked him for a favor and after he accepted, for the 1st time, she smiled at him somewhat, showing some kind of emotion for the 1st time in front of him. Their friendship seems to have just gotten lifted off the ground.

Amaria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Amaria and James have a good friendship. They've hung around each other during the plant coming to life in Obsidia Ward but during that time, they formed a friendship. While James made Amaria confused about how to feel about him when Cain was around, she eventually figured he was a good guy and just liked to have fun. They grew closer when Amaria let him stay over night on her boat and also saving her from the vines that were strangling her and Florinia. After James sees the video of Amaria either being pushed off a cliff or throwing herself off a 1, he's been really worried about her. Seeing Amaria after seeing Cain has confused him but after learning about a possible cleaning of the water from pollution, he's more intended to help her out. Inside the building, they get split up but James is confident she'll make it through. When they finally meet up again, she saves his life thanks to her Kindra Atlantica. (With a little help from James' Duskull Light) James witnesses Solaris using his Pokémon on Amaria directly which makes him feel bad for not trying to do anything to protect her. Despite that though, Amaria is appreciative of James help and slowly walks off home. Their friendship has definitely grown a lot since their little adventure in the Blacksteam Factory.

Taka - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, Taka and James are really only acquaintances but James somewhat respects Taka. Although they only met twice, James has somewhat of respect for Taka since he can see that he doesn't seem to like doing what he's doing. James reveals to her about his past and she confesses that she actually likes the idea of having a motto with him and plans on doing it when things calm down more. Their friendship has grown a lot more since their 2nd meeting.

NEW! Kiki - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James & Kiki seem to be more acquaintances than forming a friendship but this doesn't bother James. They 1st meet during 1 of Kiki's classes. James is impressed with what she says and thinks she's a good teacher. He is a little annoyed at her that he has to pass some kind of test to acquire the HM for Strength but he decides to just do it instead of wasting time arguing. Plus, he has a feeling there's something wrong with Kiki.

NEW! Cal - NO MOTTO! Since their 1st meeting, James doesn't really know how to feel about Cal. While he feels bad that he's had a bad childhood, the fact that Cal did something to Shelly to make her how she is today doesn't sit well with James.

James went back to Pyrous Mountain and started to train his new Pokemon Darumaka. It was indeed tough training but it was worth. In fact, James and Darumaka trained so hard that Darumaka evolved into Darmanitan.

James: This is amazing! I’m so proud of you Darmanitan!

Darmanitan: Dar! Darmani!

The Darmanitan ran up to James and hugged him in a strong grip. When it released James, he fell to the floor hurt.

James: Ohh Arceus. You have quite the grip the Darmanitan. I think this will be good enough training for now.

James slowly got up and returned his newly evolved Darmanitan to its PokeBall. He, along with Duskull, walked back to the Academy and into Kiki’s room. James saw that Victoria was rubbing Kiki’s back as she was kneeling on the floor.

Victoria: Sensei, you have to listen to me. If you keep pushing yourself like this, you’re gonna hurt yourself!

Kiki: I am sorry Victoria but I will not. I will not let my… willpower slip away. You know what I always say.

Victoria: 1 must fight hard to defeat the chaos.

Kiki: Exactly. And this is my chaos. So please. Allow me to fight it.

James: Ummm… Should I wait outside the door or something?

Kiki: Ahh James. I’m sorry if you witnessed my weakness there a moment ago.

James: It’s no problem.

Kiki: Sometimes, I get a bit winded.

Victoria: So how was Cal?

James: Somewhat buffy. Nice red hair. He really-

Victoria: Shut up James! I meant were you able to beat him in a battle?

James: It was close but yes. I beat him.

Kiki: Ahh. I see. I have informed Victoria of what she must do.

James: That’s great! Sooo…

Kiki: I can tell by that look on your face you want my Gym Badge. And you shall. Meet me on the battle field.

James: Alright! I can’t wait.

Kiki: Ahh yes. If you are victorious, not only will you receive my Gym Badge, but you will also receive the HM for Strength as well.

James: Alright. I’m gonna prepare and then meet you out there.

Kiki: Good luck.

Kiki then slowly walked out of the room. James was really excited to be fighting for his 5th Gym Badge. He looked over to Victoria and vice versa. He could tell that even though she was smiling back at him, she didn’t seem all that happy. James walked out of the room.

Victoria: W-Wait James!

James: Yes?

Victoria: While you were away… Kiki didn’t give me the graduation exam. In fact, we didn’t even talk about it.

James: Then what did you 2 do?

Victoria: She showed me how to run the Academy.

James: Why would she do that?

Victoria: It’s… It’s because she’s dying James.

James: Ohh… I mean I knew something was wrong with her but… I didn’t know it was that bad.

Victoria: It’s alright. She has been sick for many months now. She’s trying to hide it from the students here.

James: Why? It’s not like everyone is gonna hate her for it.

Victoria: She doesn’t want the people here to see her “weakness.”

James: Well… Is there a cure?

Victoria: Unfortunately no.

James: Wow… I’m sorry Victoria. Wait. Does that mean she intends for you to replace her when she… Well…

Victoria: I think so. No other explanation why she would she me all of that anyways.

James: Well you are her top student. Haha.

Victoria: Heh. Thanks James. But…

James: But what?

Victoria: You can’t battle her James.

James: What? Why?

Victoria: Battling will take a huge toll on her body. I don’t want to see her get any worse.

James: But Victoria. What about the gang?

Victoria: I’ll convince her to give it to me! Look, I know they’re in trouble but… They’re just being held captive. Kiki is dying.

James: Listen… I get it. I really do. But I honestly don’t see her just giving us the HM for Strength any other way than this. So with all due respect-

Victoria: Battle me then!

James: Huh?

Victoria: Battle me. If you can’t beat me, then there won’t be a need for you to even attempt to battle her.

James: Victoria…

James:… I’m sorry Victoria…

Victoria:… It’s for them right?

James: Yes.

Victoria: They’re more important than her, right?

James: That’s not what I mea-

Victoria: I’m just gonna go.

Victoria then leaves out to the battle field. James felt bad. He didn’t want to hurt Victoria’s feelings like that but there was no other choice. He also felt a little angry at her for accusing him for thinking that his friends were more important than Kiki. But James couldn’t think of another way to get the HM. Even with Victoria’s help. James then walked to the PokeCenter in ther front of the Academy and healed his Pokemon up. Then he walked up and stood on the other side of the battle field.

Kiki: Are you ready James?

James: I am.

Kiki: James… We shall see how the discipline inside you holds.

Victoria: This… Gym battle will take place between the challenger James and the Gym Leader Kiki in a 6 on 6 Singles Battle. When 1 side loses all of their Pokemon, the other side will have won. Either side is allowed to make substitutions. Let the battle… begin.

Kiki: Your energy has shined through today James. Your hard work has earned you this ba- Ugh.

James: Umm… Are you alright?

Kiki: Yes yes. Excuse me though. I must- (collapses to the ground)

James: Oh my Arceus!

Victoria: Kiki!

James: Drape her arms over your shoulder and I’ll do the same with this 1 and then we’ll take her back to her room.

Victoria and James picked up Kiki and did what he said and carried Kiki back into her room. They helped her sit onto her hammock. Victoria sat next to her as James stood from across from them.

Kiki: Ugh…

Victoria: There there Kiki. Keep doing what uou’re doing. Focus on your breathing. You’re ok?

Kiki: Am I really though? After collapsing on the battle field like that… There’s no hiding it any longer. My reputation is now shattered.

James: Well… You’re certainly strong.

Victoria: Yes Sensei. Nobody could ever be as strong as you have been going through all of this. Look at all of your achievements, the people you’ve made happy and-

Kiki: Despite all of that, I am still weak. No matter how strong I’ve been, I’m still… weak.

Victoria: Please Kiki. You must try to calm down.

Kiki: Calm down? How can I? “Defeat the inner chaos?” What did you think I meant by that? Did you ONLY think I was talking about the zen of mind Victoria?

James: Kiki, I-

Kiki: No offense but please stay out of this. Listen to me. I could be centered to dead-zero… DEAD. ZERO. And I will still end up like that. Dead.

Victoria: I… I was just-

Kiki: My body is killing itself! No matter how long I try to meditate for, my body is killing itself. So again, how am I supposed to just calm down?

Victoria: I didn’t… You’re… Right… (runs out of the room)

Kiki: Wait! Victoria!

James: Umm… I’m sorry. Is there anything I can do to help?

Kiki: Yes. You can leave me here. I wish to be alone and rest for a while.

James: Ok…

James did as she said and left her room. He never felt so uncomfortable in his life before. He walked up to Victoria and put his hand on her shoulder.

James: Are you ok Victoria?

She turned around with tears in her eyes and hugged James.

James: It’s gonna be alright Victoria. She just has a lot going through her mind right now.

Victoria: I know. (letting go of the hug) It’s just… I’ve never seen her this upset before. I mean I have but this is a new stage of upset.

James: Well like I said, she’s going through a lot right now.

Victoria: I know. Plus, I’ve never seen her faint like that before.

James: Well… What are you gonna do?

Victoria: I think I’m just gonna try to keep things together. Maybe it’ll help her get better… Hopefully. Anyways, I’ll make sure to get the badge and HM for you. But if she doesn’t make it… the badge will reset.

James: You can’t think like that Victoria.

Victoria: I know. I’m sorry. I just feel helpless you know?

James: It’s ok. Just try to have a chipper attitude. Maybe it’ll brighten up her spirits a little.

Victoria: I’ll try. Thanks James.

James: No problem Victoria.

James was about to leave to go do some training but then he remembered something and it kind of scared him. It was Cain. He didn’t see him anywhere there. He ran back up to Victoria.

James: Victoria, before you go, have you seen Cain anywhere?

Victoria: Oh my Arceus! With everything that’s been happening here, I totally forgot he was supposed to be here! But… No. I haven’t seen him at all.

James: That’s worrying. He was so set on saving them. He would never just up and leave.

Victoria: Hold on. Let me go ask Kiki.

Victoria went into Kiki’s room to ask if she ever saw Cain there. A minute later, Victoria came out with a worried expression on her face.

Victoria: She told me no one like that ever came here.

James: Well where the hell could he have gone?!

Victoria: Umm… Well he’s either at the bottom of the lake-

James: Victoria!

Victoria: Sorry. Sorry. Erm… Well there is an island between here and the Coral Ward. It’s the Azurine Island. Maybe he’s there?

James: Well it’s the only lead we’ve got.

Victoria: Alright. You go look for him there while I take care of the Academy and Kiki here. Don’t worry about us. We’ll be fine. (smiles)

James: Alright then. I’m off. See you later Victoria!

James rushed off to the boat, with his Duskull by his side. They ran onto the boat, got into the driving quarters and set sail to Azurine Island to find Cain.

Ame - NO MOTTO! (Although, I would love for them to have a Team Motto together) Ever since their 1st meeting back in Kanto, James and Ame have become really close friends. Thanks to Ame, James has his own room in the Reborn Region inside the Grand Hall. While they are close friends, Ame is a really important person and always busy. So there's really no time for them 2 to hang out. But they value any time they have talking to each other.

Cain - MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Cain instantly hit it off. They basically are best friends. The next time they meet seems to have strengthen their friendship with James totally in love with Cain's singing even during a dangerous situation. The next time they meet is in the Beryl Cemetery. While they don't do their motto, their friendship seems to have gotten stronger. Although James is a bit annoyed Cain hasn't given him the key, he is willing to help out in his friends quest. They seem to have gotten even closer in their friendship since they broke out Heather and the other orphans out of the orphanage/psychiatric center. And they got to do their motto again, but as more of a distraction this time. After winning his 4th badge, he witnesses Team Meteor kidnapping everyone but Cain. After meeting Cain at the Coral Ward, he appreciates Cain even more with his determination of wanting to save the gang. It seems that there is nothing that can damage their friendship but only time will tell.

CHANGE! Victoria - NO MOTTO! Ever since their 1st meeting, James and Victoria have a good friendship. While it's not on the same level as Cain, these 2 are very good friends. The next time they meet is in the Obsidia Ward. Victoria's concern for James' safety caused her to battle James in an attempt to have him not be in danger. She lost though and basically forced herself to have faith in him. Their other encounter is when the whole Corey situation happened. James helping Victoria with Shelly really increased their friendship level as well as him saving her from Aster & Eclipse. However, their friendship hit a rocky road as Victoria was against the idea of James battling Shelly after she just got over, or at least attempting to try to get over, Corey's death. But she seems to have forgiven James for it since learning about the gangs abduction. James is surprised but respects Victoria more with her trying to save the gang with her returning to Apophyll Academy to try to obtain the HM for Strength. After learning about Kiki's health condition, James understands why Victoria did what she did to try to stop him from battling her. Although, he is a bit mad at her for accusing him of caring about the gang more than Kiki. He seems to have somewhat forgiven her though with the events that take place after the battle between Kiki & James. Their friendship seems to be constantly be going up and down but at this point, its stable.
