Zen
Of late, the three of us have been receiving comments that our teams are run in an unusual manner - this is not unexpected, and we slowly came to realise that our play style is somewhat unconventional. Further experiments showed that our teams tended to start as semi-stalling teams that turned into more fofensive teams if the opponent made a wrong move. And of course, the key to this was the combination of pokemon used. --- - We tend to run chandelure as a weather-jammer. That is to say, we put a Sash on it and use it to set up Sunny Day on politoed/tyranitar/abomasnow/hippowdon. A Solarbeam settles the opposition after that, usually. - Arena Trap Dugtrio with sandstorm is also useful in some cases. - Magnezone/probopass with Sunny Day and Magnet Pull can be the death of jirachi/ferrothorn/scizor if run correctly. - Speaking of jirachi, cofagrigus with the classic Will-O-Wisp/Hex combo tends to wreck it (goodbye, Serene Grace). - Zebstrika/girafarig are nasty buggers if you abuse Sap Sipper appropriately. This works considerably well since Spore is popular as always. - Eelektross with Drain Punch is a worthy enemy. Fear it, especially after several Coils. - Unaware clefable is deadlier than Magic Guard clefable. - Running quagsire to bait that Leaf Storm into girafarig/zebstrika is handy. - SubPunch dusknoir/dusclops are great for leeching HP and PP off an opponent (abuse Pressure to the maximum). --- Those are basically the few pokemon that we've been frequently running of late. The nett effect of applying those methods as described above is a pokemon that sponges blows or ignores them, inducing a switch-out in the opponent. As the opponent switches out, that's the cue for a Cosmic Power/Coil/Flame Charge/Agility/Stockpile. Which is why we said it starts as a semistall (just look at all the pokemon listed), and morphs into something worse if given the chance. --- - Lead with chandelure (with a Sunny Day set) as a handy way of jamming weather, since few people tend to run delayed weather teams. - Run at least two ghosts to have backup Spinblockers (sableye/jellicent/cofagrigus are good). - Keep Unaware or Haze around if defense is an issue (clefable/quagsire for Unaware, cofagrigus is good for Haze). - Instead of giving a Lum Berry to a pokemon, sub it out for something with Sap Sipper if serperior and/or Spore are abundant. - Burn everything on the opposition, and Hex them to death (thanks, Shade). - Scrap Leftovers for boosted defenses, anti-status berries, and Pain Split when running ghosts. Works reasonably well.
