The party, their passage outside the castle covered by the team defending it, followed the directions given by one of the Asterlux diviners toward the Servant Saber. The sun was just barely beginning to peek over the horizon - not that it did much to affect the overall light levels, due to the seemingly ever-present haze of smoke, the darkness seeming to press down upon the land. The smell of charred timber with other, fouler undercurrents grew stronger and stronger as they approached their destination. What had once been a village, now charred and still smoldering in some places, nestled between two hills; they could see their target clearly, as the woman made no effort to hide. She turned to face them, flanked by two wyverns with black scales; no soldiers were in sight, though remnants of the skeletal monsters from before still ambled about the village, and there were. . . things. . . nearby as well. Dark purple things, with what looked like withered humanoid forms suspended by four spider-like legs, and a head composed entirely of a vertical mouth with what seemed to be human teeth. Something similar-looking flitted about in the air, now that they were close enough that the smoke didn't obscure them. "Ah, I see the humans in the castle have sent me more fuel for my flames. Fine then, burn like the rest!"

"Like I haven't heard that one before.  In all fairness the last person who tried to put me to the flame came out of the ordeal a smoldering corpse."

With that she readied her glaive and began waiting, watching as each person on the battlefield attacked or took action in turn.

After a couple second she finally decided to attack by leaping forward and striking one of the dark creatures nine times.

 

Spicy HG uses Rush Technique on Lahmu A, striking 9 times for 1d6 damage each.

Edmond:

 

They'd found Jeanne, and she certainly did seem obsessed with fire. There were some frankly horrific creatures assisting her, and two dragon things. Of course there were also some o the Dragon tooth warriors. Huh. . . Apparently they hadn't all collapsed when Medea got defeated. In any case, the battle had already begun. Edmond knew that there were a few people on this new team who had some sort of resistance to fire, which would be useful, and that meant that they might be able to afford to shift their focus to the monsters at the beginning. They also had Magnum on the team, so Edmond, remembering the beginning of the Cu battle, called out, "What's the read, Magnum?"

 

They also had Snow, who seemed to be resilient, a goddess that Edmond had seen once in passing, a military man, and Magna.

 

Edmond will use Analyze, adding (1.5xLevel)+5 stat points in any way to INT and SYN. Putting them all in INT.

Mitsu: Nothing in particular, probably just start building up damage for ramping.

Magnum: Telestrate is our best friend.
Atton: No support on the first turn, right? Res bypass attack, I guess?

Snow: She has a full party RES buff, right? That sounds like a good way to start.

Gabriel: Might want to go with that RES reducing action you have on the Lahmu A, since otherwise I doubt Spicy HG's multihit attack will do much.

Magna: Maybe work to kill the Lahmu, to try to get minions sooner. Not as familiar with your character, but we should definitely start finding her minions soon.

Soryn: Is it night time? Does Jeanne D'Arc count as a being of divinity? Probably start to get some DPS down. Focusing the Lahmu so that we can take it as a minion eventually seems reasonable.

Perlita: Since it's the first turn, there's no easy way to know who to heal, but maybe Mitsu? Since we need that strong DPS up and running, and it's reasonably likely that she might get hit first turn based on the number of enemies.))

"Oh Jeanne... I was but a boy when I witnessed the burning. How has this come to be...?" he murmured to himself.

Soryn uses Hemosphere on Mitsu, consuming (25% of Soryn's current HP [23]) to shield Mitsu for (1.5*(Health cost [23]) a total of [35] HP. Upon the barrier's destruction, deal (Original Barrier Health [35])/1.5 for a total of 24 damage, ignoring 40% of target RES (Vampirism Perk).

Perlita audibly gasped when she saw the burnt remains of the village, but then her face morphed into a furious grimace. If the woman in front of them was responsible for the terrible things that Perlita could see must have gone on here... well, even as shock and horror ran through her at the sight of a village where people, real people, had been killed, it hardened Perlita's determination to help stop her.

 

...Crawford COULD attack, but she was not  really an attack Persona, so no matter how satisfying it would be to slap this woman with a burst of light, Perlita made a move to play more to her strengths. "Crawford, be revealed!" Making a prediction that her distraction would keep her slow when the battle actually collided into being, Perlita began to summon her Persona. That's how an right foot tall "woman" mostly covered by a glittery black cape popped into existence right behind the teenage girl, and exactly and simultaneously mirroring a forward wave of Perlita's hand, said "woman" gestured at Mitsurugi, sending forth a burst of pink, healing energy, then disappearing.

 

Perlita uses Diarama on Mitsurugi, healing 4d4+2*SYN damage (including Perlita's Altruism perk)

"......you bastards burned this whole place down, huh? No worries. I can keep up the heat too, you know. Oppenheimer!"

Despite how casual Gabriel's words sound, it's pretty clear that he's applying a lot of venom behind them, almost as if he's struggling to retain his calm and laidback demeanour.

 

A far stranger being appears behind Gabriel as he invokes his own Persona, a pale-red masculine figure with cat ear-like projections on each side of its head, the face replaced with an orb constantly playing a stylized animation of a hydrogen atom, arms wrapped with boxing tape and legs in black eveningwear. He wasn't the fastest to react, but Oppenheimer didn't need to be fast; it just needed to do its job, and its job was simple.

 

Burn everything down.

 

One of the Lahmus is immediately beset by a searing hot flame, swirling in and around it, eating away at its defenses like nothing else!

Lahmu A takes an Agilao

Agilao: Deals 3d4+SYN damage, reduces the enemy RES to 55% of its original value. As this is a fire attack, this also triggers Sun Arcana.

Sun Arcana: All nuclear and fire attacks add a debuff that deals SYN/2 piercing damage for three turns, stacking with future attacks.

The first of the flying monsters dives at Magnum's bus, raking its limbs along it for [10] damage before returning to the skies.

 

Mitsurugi unleashes a barrage of danmaku, dealing [19] damage to each Bel Lahmu, [18] to each Lahmu, [14] to each Wyvern and the group of Dragon Teeth. 

 

Saber points her blade at the group and raises her flag, urging the monsters at her side forward. The Wyverns and Dragon Teeth gain +3 damage on their next attack!

 

Magnum shines the spotlight on the blackened holy woman before them. [25 vs 21: Success] He gains the following information: A warped form of the saint Jeanne d'Arc. Originally an impossible existence, an aberration in a timeline brought her forth. Not actually the original saint, but merely modeled on a madman's thoughts of how she should feel. It is unlikely that she would be able to resist a proper divine power, or the flames that consumed who she is modeled on.

 

Saber rushes forward, setting her sword aflame. She slashes at Soryn, dealing [12] damage and setting him aflame for [10] damage per turn. 

 

The second flying monster swoops at Gabriel, battering him with strong limbs for [10] damage before flying out of reach.

 

The first wyvern flies toward Gabriel as well, raking him with its claws for [13] damage.

 

Atton shoots a bullet at one of the Dragon Tooth Warriors, striking it for [17] damage. It does not look particularly enthused by this.

 

Snow taunts the first Wyvern and Saber, drawing their attention to her! 

 

The second of the ground-based monsters skitters forward toward Atton and drives a sharp limb toward him, dealing [6] damage.

 

Saber takes Snow up on her offer, slashing at her with a flame-covered sword for [0] damage. She's set aflame, but it doesn't seem to be able to harm her through her armor. 

 

Gabriel sets Lahmu A aflame, dealing [11] damage. The nuclear fire continues to eat at it, dealing [5] damage per turn.

 

Soryn places a Hemosphere around Mitsurugi, spending 17 health to create a barrier that will absorb 25 damage. On exhaustion, it will deal [25] damage to the attacker. 

 

Magna directs her various minions to attack. The beasts leap toward the flying monster, dealing [24] damage together; it seems they're having trouble reaching it. The first officer's bolt of fire deals [20] damage, and sets the monster aflame. The second one has a similar effect on his target, dealing [19] damage and burning it. The third's target isn't quite as badly affected, taking [17] damage and being burned for [5]. Magna then re-euthanizes her second beast to heal two of her officers. 

 

Edmond boosts his Intelligence by 11. 

 

The second Wyvern attacks Magna's third officer, dealing [10] damage. 

 

The group of warriors rushes the group of undead minions, attacking each. The first officer takes [7], the second [7], and the third is forcefully de-animated. The beast takes the hit meant for its now-vanished companion, and collapses in turn. 

 

"You think that's going to be enough to stop me!?" Sinister, purple-black flames surround Saber for a moment. Saber's SYN has increased by 5! Her INT decreased by 2, and her CON decreased by 3.

 

The first monster skitters up to Soryn, and impales him for [12] damage. 

 

Perlita heals Mitsurugi! . . . but she was already at full health.

 

Spicy HG rushes Lahmu A, striking it repeatedly for a total of [27] damage.

Snow cracks a grin after Saber's attack pings off of her armor, and cracks her neck with a swift tilt. "Yeah, yeah I'm sure."

 

Snow enters her Stalwart Stance. ((+[9+6] RES, no actions allowed until she exits the stance.))

 

Has 10% health regen each turn (7).

Edmond:

An analysis of the battlefield proved sufficient, combined with the increased visual perception that the power armor granted him. "Focus the. . .spider things! Pay attention to Magnum's read!" He didn't really have much else to say. This battle was different from the one before, and he didn't have quite the same idea of his allies' skills. Some knowledge of course, but not in as much detail.

 

Edmond will use Weld on Lahmu B. Deals basic damage (2d6+INT) and adds 1d4+INTx1.25 to the next attack on the same target.

Soryn gritted his teeth against Jeanne's attack, refusing to budge an inch from her attacks. For he knew that Jeanne had to have suffered the even greater pain of betrayal. "I regret to do this to you, Jeanne, but you must rest once more," he said somberly. For him, who was one of the countrymen who was saved by Jeanne, harming her seemed like betraying her after she had died once before. He steeled himself once more, refusing to stand down. "I will never forget what you did for our country."

"Fire and divine energy?  I think I can manage that.  Mitsurugi catch!"

As she spoke she twirled her spear several times, generating a large ball of fire in the process, then tossed it in Mitsurugi's direction.  The fire arced slowly and drifted towards Mitsurugi's weapon, shrouding it in brilliant red and gold flames.

 

After listening to Magnum's instructions Spicy HG nodded, then started to dash towards Saber, the blade of her glaive already glowing with energy.  

"Be bound with the might of a Goddess!" and with that she struck, likely only grazing the madwoman, but it would be enough to impart the Skill-Seal curse infused into her blade.


Spicy HG uses .EXE Flame Bind casting all four instances on Mitsurugi, adding [Syn]*4(52) fire damage to her next attack, this consumes one level of Spicy HG's .EXE gauge.

 

Hustle Play action: Spicy HG uses Sealing Slash on Saber, this deals (2d10+9)*75% damage and disables Saber's non-basic actions for two turns.

Atton would quickly formulate a plan by rather helpfully asking Mitsu to focus on eliminating the enemy's general from the equation while he tried his best to think of absolutely anything he could say to improve the squad's morale.

Level 2: Int x 1.25 added to the target's RES or Main Attacking stat instead of just Int.

Level 3: This ability now targets two characters at once

Atton uses battle Plans to buff his own main attacking stat (Which is Intelligence) and Mitsu's main attacking stat by his Intelligence *1.25 for two rounds.

Well, she had gambled wrong on who was going to get hit, but Perlita decided not to dwell on that - there were people who did get hit, after all ...and Gabriel was one of them. Perlita grimaced as the two flying monsters swooped down and clawed and sliced at him... but just before she was about to summon Crawford to cast a Patra, she noticed that the vampire was in an even worse condition... and that he was on fire. "Ah... Gabriel, I'm so sorry, but you'll need to hold on for a moment! Crawford, Patra!" She reached a hand into the sky and summoned Crawford again, tugging on the floating thread that only she and Gabriel could see and which appeared as she began the summon, and once again her glitzy Persona popped into existence, Perlita directing her hand in Soryn's direction to cause a wave of green sparkles to envelop him.

 

Perlita uses Patra on Soryn, removing all ailments from him and healing him for 11 HP (from her Perk)!

Constitution: 6, Resistance: 4, Dexterity: 7, Intelligence: 0, Strength: 2, Synergy: 11

If dealt a non-stun Ailment, Perlita's Justice Arcana perk afflicts its dealer with the same Ailment, and her Dark Jacket protects her from sleep effects and confers 25% resistance against darkness attacks!

Magnum relays the information to his teammates. "She's a few white dresses and flower petals short of being a bona-fide virgin knight, that I can tell you. If we look at the tape on her, she does not have a gameplan for divine intervention, and gets roasted defensively when someone turns up the oven. It's going to be a long day for her if her strategic holes get exploited."

 

Give Spicy an extra action next turn with Hustle Play.

Lahmu A takes another Agilao, taking another stack of Sun Arcana. He deals x1.3 damage against it due to Beat of My Blood.

Beat of My Blood: Deal x1.3 damage against enemies with Burn, Freeze or Shock statuses. Sun Arcana's effect counts as a Burn.

If the Lahmu is dead before Gabriel attacks it, hit Saber with Agilao instead to get her started.

Gabriel takes 25% less damage from fire attacks and is immune to burns due to his Blue Bomber Jacket.

The first flying monster dives at Mitsurugi, dealing [19] damage to her barrier. It takes 10 burning damage.

 

Mitsurugi darts toward Lahmu B, stabbing it for [38] damage. 

 

Saber wreathes herself in flame once again. Saber's STR increased by 5! Her RES decreased by 3. Her INT decreased by 1. Her CON decreased by 1. 

 

Magnum offers some advice to Spicy HG for some quick moves she can do next turn. 

 

Saber angrily stabs at Snow with a flaming blade, dealing [11] damage. She is set aflame once more, with these being more intense; she will burn for [3] damage until 3 turns have passed.

 

The second flying monster also takes a pass at Mitsurugi, breaking the Hemosphere. The beast takes [17] damage from the backlash. 

 

The first wyvern dives at Magna, snatching at her for [14] damage.

 

Atton offers Mitsurugi some advice, increasing her DEX by 16. Somehow, he also buffs himself by talking to himself, increasing his INT by the same amount.

 

Snow enters a defensive stance, increasing her RES by 15.

 

Lahmu B scrabbles at the air near Edmond. He feels a strange and unpleasant sensation as all buffs affecting him cease.

 

Saber plants her banner in the ground. Flames begin to gather around her as rage twists her countenance. . .

 

Gabriel decides that more fire is just what this place needs, setting Lahmu A ablaze once more for [19] damage and intensifying its burn. 

 

Soryn stabs Jeanne for [61] damage! She seems surprised at the man's words more than the attack, and almost seems about to say something before her expression twists into rage once more. He takes [10] burning damage. 

 

Magna and her minions focus down the wounded Bel Lahmu A, grounding it forever.

 

Edmond welds Lahmu B for [16] damage. The next attack will deal [16] more damage.

 

Wyvern B leaps at Mitsurugi. [20 vs 32] It tries to pin her down, but she deftly evades.

 

The flames around Saber intensify. 

 

Lahmu A skitters toward Spicy HG, and stabs at her for [10] damage. 

 

Perlita casts a soothing spell on Soryn, healing the vampire for [11] HP and causing the flames about him to die out.

 

Spicy HG wreathes Mitsurugi's blade in flame, and then slashes at Jeanne herself for [14] damage, disabling further nonbasic actions by the woman for 2 turns.

"The spider things have some form of weakening effect, so watch out for that! More importantly, Saber's getting ready for something dangerous! If anyone's got healing, send that in Snow's direction!" As an after though, he made sure to add "After she gets hit, not before!" For now, Edmond kept up his assualt on the creature he had been focused on. It had done something, and weakened him a bit, but it seemed to be taking damage itself, and Edmond didn't feel too encumbered by whatever magic it had used.

 

 

Edmond will use Weld on Lahmu B. Deals basic damage (2d6+INT) and adds 1d4+INTx1.25 to the next attack on the same target.

Atton noticed that the only other member of the party who had the ability to heal the others seemed to be having a bit of a problem with keeping up with the pace the others were setting, and the fact that she was doing so while their opponent seemed to be getting ready to try and press whatever advantage they had over the party was quite worrying to say the least. This is why he decided to move up to her position and say "Okay, so I just want you to know that you are doing a good job of making sure that the people in this group are still alive, and I want you to know that I'm not joking when I say that you are doing God's work right now young lady. And I just know that you can do an absolutely great job if you'd just move faster, and before you start worrying and saying that you can't do it and that it is impossible, I just want you to know that you can do it, you will be faster, and that I will be standing right behind you every step of the way".
