What shall I do?

  1. 1. Should I wait for E17 to come out and THEN continue the main story or reset and see ALL the changes?

    • Continue main story first
      17
    • Reset first. #teamrowlet

I think it's safe to leak this information to inform people on rather or not they want to restart for E17. I'm mostly doing this for the spam of topics about this which I already can sense coming. Here's kind of the rundown:

Changes to past areas:

-nearly all random trainers recieved revamped teams adding to a larger array of variety among the trainers

-event Pokemon have been changed, added, or moved around, in order to compensate for the Gen VII inclusion

-The Mystery Egg also changed some of the mons gained from it

-Nearly all of the bosses recieved one or two significant changes in order to increase their difficulty or adjust their theme

-Some of these use the new Seed Mechanic Ame added

-Two bosses changed their aces

-The AI has been completely revamped in order to perform overall better

-While not complete, the AI now takes the fields into consideration when choosing moves

-Weather has now been fixed and can be manipulated to change (works in any area and not just Opal Ward now)

-Money System has been fixed leaving money to be scarce early on

-Certain previous items were changed and replaced

Considerations for the E17 new areas:

-Depending on a choice(s) earlier in the story, it is possible to lock yourself out of half the content of the episode

-All areas are still completely explorable and do not lock access to any event mons

-There is an excessive need for Repels and a very, very high leveled Pokemon for exploration (I burned through 150 Max Repels exploring the entire area)

That's basically all I can unveil without spoiling anything (Ame did say most of these thing already). It's mostly an exploration episode so you probably could burn through the main story segment in 3-6 hours (1 hour if you know what you're doing) so maybe catch up on your old save first before restarting the game because knowing how the Desert works and operates will save you a ton of time on subsequent playthroughs.

As for whether or not I think people should restart their save, it really grinds down to when you last restarted. Each episode from XI onward piled on new content and changes to improve the game. If you haven't played a new save prior to the XIV version, I definitely recommend restarting to see the massive number of changes. If you are a XV-XVI version player, I'd say hold off until E18 or E19 to avoid burnout as there's a very high chance most of the game will be explorable (E19 will be the final release). It's very justified to restart this episode, but I probably won't restart until E19 personally, but it's just a matter of opinion.

Yep do both ! :)

In my main save file I have done all quests, have all items, all mons, all everything, 50 ev trained mons lvl 80+, i'm going with this one to the end :)
And when a new episode is released i go for a mono or a thematic runs mainly focusing on main story to appreciate the changes. I'll do another full run when the game will be complete.

@Damien This^, indeed. I think my overall gametime (firemono/2normal E15 runs/restarts_and_miscellaneous/time spent online/breeding) is something above 200h (one would say a lot, the other would say you gotta pump up those numbers) and I couldn't force myself to start again, even with the new stuff. You don't want to feel exhausted with Reborn halfway through your new run, even before you reach actual E17 content, do you. I will probably start from a scratch once the game is complete, but no earlier, so probably in around 5 years.
