Mashew
Actually a magic guard life orbing alakazam works well with a hail team
Administrators Ikaru Posted December 28, 2010 Administrators Share Posted December 28, 2010 Anything with Magic Guard or Dustproof could work (fun fact: Rankurusu has both) or at the very least you could use Leftovers to cancel out the Hail damage. You aren't limited to only Ice types, but... that's what's easiest.
Bullet
The fact that Ice types are weak to Stealth Rock doesn't help one bit
Administrators Ikaru Posted December 28, 2010 Administrators Share Posted December 28, 2010 Pokemon unaffected by Hail that can Rapid Spin: Furiijio (oh look, Recover too!) Delibird Forretress (famous for spinning regardless) Cloyster Might be more, who knows/cares.
Bullet
Mehhh, I prefer Sturdy on Forretress But yeah, you brought the point, ice rapid spinners are bleah But yeah, it's easy to realize hail is nowhere near as good as the other weathers Mention Furiijio not sucking an I'll mention his paper thin defense in this physical infested generation
Mashew
Cloyster=wall/sweeper/spinner and set up lol then you got jynx as the special brokeloom.

Bullet
Draco Meteor, Overheat, and Leaf Storm miss so much with 90 accuracy that 75 accuracy makes me want to kill myself
Geo
Shand-......NVM just remebered something Ame mentioned about this topic and the Reborn league but here something just as useful. Stall Jirachi Absolute Defensive Evs: 252 Hp/ 252 Def/4 spdef Nature:Bold Item: Leftovers Nomal BJ Giver. Evs:252 Att/252 speed/ 4 Def Nature Jolly Item:Leftovers Moves: - Iron Head - Zen Headbutt/ Toxic - Cosmic Power - Toxic/T-wave Since the 5th gen is more physical based, I would use the absolute defensive set of evs just because Roobitchin' is indeed a bitch and will pretty much try to counter this alot but thats why we have Zen headbutt, Zuruzukin rarely have shed skin for some reason cause EQ Spiral is pretty much pending on what comes out next after the defeated pokemon (Including ditto) but anyway Thunder wave is just for stall teams to effect anything that unable to poison by Toxic spikes, I recommend toxic over zen headbutt during the making of Stall teams also just incase your opponent have something to rid the spikes away but i'm werid like that and spinners are rare too. Counters: If not careful, Roopushin(His english name sucks Jirachi's.....anyway) but its not going to happen with Zenheadbutt around. Magic Guard users Magic Mirror users work for T-wave but I recommend it only during Stall team making And Toxic doesnt effect steel. Poison Heal Pokemon mess this set but I see more Techniloom and some people run normal Gliscor cause Poison heal can't get Stealth cocks + Roost. Psych up, but thats rare XD. Shandera......Not much my probem cause I use slippy the toad to make it rain in this Motha fucka, but yea its a counter. DAFUX WITH ROOBITCHIN', I GOT MOARBITCHIN'. >> Don't ask me why I name my pokemon crazy but funny/true shit sometimes. Right now I have a Jirachi named BJ actually spelt out. Edit: Wish can be used instead of Toxic and T-wave for a bulky Jirachi but only if you have some crazy ass combo with Toxic spikes and Sandstorm(Maybe Hail), you can run it over Zen headbutt or Iron head depending on what kind of coverage you want,
Geo
This is made only for NU Play, It might work for UU but still its pretty good. Note it doesn't get sleep talk with Marvel scale. Dragonair @ Evolution Stone Trait: Marvel Scale EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Dragon Pulse - Toxic - Rest - Protect Info: Smexy stall wall is smexy, but is walled by Steel types completely, this is only to destory things like Regirock and due to the Evo Stone bonus and most of them being Sp defensive then Sp attacker. Dragon Pluse is for STAB and getting atleast some damage on the pokemon your stalling out, Rest is just to activate Marvel scale which boost defense and adds to the known fact there are more physcal attackers the special. Protect is just to stall a free turn of Toxic damage which make it pretty useful. Partners in crime: Mean look pass or pokemon, Leech seeders and Dual screeners obviously, Leech seed is just to feel in the void left by the Evo Stone. Mean look passer is just to keep a wall from switching out, Dual screeners for more hellish time of stalling. Counters: Ain't it obvious what counters this thing other then taunters and sometime Encore users? Note: I DIDN'T SAY IT WILL SWEEP!!! ;P Edit:Why is Regirock NU or I just miss that part of the Tier list making.
Bullet
The only steel types in NU are like, Probopass and NFEs? xD Then again, everyone is infatuated with Evo Stone and that crap. Man, kids these days.... Regirock.... meh, I would put it in between UU and NU, but I don't think it'll be too bad for NU As for your actual set, since you're running Rest, you might as well use Shed Skin over Marvel Scale .-.
Geo
Shed skin could work but again Marvel scale adds more Defense when your sleeping, which is good for stalling out more. I was also implying Steel incase someone magically use this set in OU and BL. I also agree with Regirock being NU.
Bullet
Meh, Marvel Scale cushions the first hit after Resting, but then you're stuck sleeping as a sitting duck. With the new sleep mechanics, switching out won't help either, meaning Shed Skin is kinda neccessary IMO.
Geo
If I have officially gone insane abit..then why does this set works kinda too well after 10 battles. Gimmicks tend to work that way maybe the case. [Late Game Scizor] Nature:Adament/Jolly Ev: 252 Att/252 Speed/ 4 Def or 112 HP/252 Att/144 Speed maybe 80HP/252 Att/ 176 Speed/ Ability:Technician Item:Life orb Moves: Double Hit/ Bug bite Agility Bullet Punch Brick Break/Night Slash/Bug Bite Time to explain this madness, Double hit was made for Late Game Erufuun cause that when that thing is at its best with nothing around to stop it. Theres a chance of missing tho, it also provides enables you to break subs and Neutral Damage to most types. Bullet punch is for Priority and STAB, it also gets a Technician boost obviously. Agility is absolutely needed for this Gimmick to work, it should provide enough speed for Scizor to use unless your dealing with a scarf pokemon. You can also use bug bite instead of Double Hit, depends on you completely. I would use Brick break over Nightslash and BugBite (if you used it instead of Double hit) just because it'll break through Screen faggotry and Steel types in the way like Heatran, but again it depends on you and your own coverage. Nightslash is just to hit Gengar or something Ghost/Psychic type that annoys you, basicly its there incase your using Double hit over bug bite and we're done. Partners in Crime: What partners? It do the job itself..... Counters: Anything with a super effective move or hits Scizor with Neutral damage badly Like a +1 surf against its piss poor Sp def and scarf pokemon.(Scizor somethimes Magically lives Fire punch, what kind of shit is that) Note: It can work sometimes in Mid game. Edit: 2/4/2011 Okey its Edited and Fixed.
Bullet
Double Hit is only 3 points stronger than Frustration/Return, so why risk miss? It can break a sub and attack on the same turn, which i hardly iseful for a late game sweeper. Heck, you could just scrap a normal move and use Bug Bite + Brick Break
Geo
How can you tell me about something I haven't put details about. Wouldn't be like pointless ._. and I failed to remeber what I was about to put there anway. It'll come back to me soon. Bullet
Just because it's a gimmick doesn't mean it's supposed to suck?
Maelstrom
Ok, so I walking around the unova reason, doing mah business when the grass shakes and a lvl 60 or so tabunne pops up. I'm thinking, lots of hp and like 10 lvls above my Carracosta... I'd better shell smash. Tappety-tap. Tabunne attacks first with.... Simple Beam. And at first I'm thinking, this is the even more 'special' version of the "special beam cannon" that I do so love. It changed Carracosta's ability to simple. And I was like... NO WAI! Shell Smash happens and my does this: - def's drop sharply! ATK, SPC, and SPD rise DRASTICALLY (the game's own word)!!!!! -2 Def -2 Spc Def +4 Atk +4 SpcAk +4 Spd all in one turn. What happened next is the PG equivalent of Pedo-Bear + Chiyo-chan (azumangadaioh) via waterfall. I'm thinking team doubles potential. Specially with Rock Slide. But of course, both foe pkmn could attack you that first turn and the oft used priority attack is a huge threat if they atk you first turn instead of setting up or switching out. <-- Which is going to happen if they see your pokemon and recognized the probable combo. Anyone wanna figure out a way to use this competitively? Cuz simple + DD/swords dance/whathave might be cool too. There is that unfortunate loss of the original ability to think about too.
