Chim
Since I can't seem to use a quote... @Jess wtf? 'undeniable fact that all dark types are too edgy'? It's like @Azeria said; they follow a certain pattern when it comes to dark. For example Mandibuzz. Vultures in general have a 'dark' reputation but that doesn't make Mandibuzz edgy. Same goes for a lot of dark mons that in general are based on predators / animals that are mischievous in some folklore. Just because you don't like a certain type and feel about them in a specific way doesn't make it an undeniable fact. Jess
@Chim I don't know any vultures wearing a bone on their hair/plumage. Or wearing a "skirt" of jaw teeth. Come on, seriously, you just said that Mandibuzz is not edgy? xD Edit: Also, save the "wtf"s for yourself. I didn't really say anything that isn't true. Google the definition of edgy, then see every Dark type, one by one, and compare. If you like edgy, it's OK. But they are edgy!
Wolfox
Grass: 21 Steel: 11 Ground: 12 Ice: 19 Ghost: 21 Dark: 6 Bug: 22 Rock: 8 Poison: 11 I'll agree that there are a lot of dark types that are edgy. for some, it works (like Absol and Incineroar IMO). for other... not so much (alolan Ratticate. nuf said). I generally really like edgy designs and if they make sense for the design I can actually love them. Like, again, Incineroar. He looks edgy because he's based on a Heel wrestler. the Bad Guy in WWE. granted I'm pretty biased because Dark is one of my favorite types. And for those who didn't notice yet. my two favorite types are the cutesy fairy types and the edgy dark types. most generally liked by me because of design. Just let that sink in. two polar opposites and I love em both. Spoiler Just let that Sink in. Spoiler I may or may not like this image a bit too much Also, can we just agree that the Honedge line is the Edgiest set of mons in the game? I'll see myself out
Jess
@Wolfox Like for that image. I'm still laughing. Also, Absol (or Mega-Absol, that is) should've been a Dark/Fairy. Another proof of that is its Pokedex entry. Spoiler Although it's said to bring disaster, in actuality, this Pokémon possesses a calm disposition and warns people of any crises that loom Actually Spoiler Absol would show up before calamities strike to warn people. But since it arrived shortly before massive disasters, people started wrongly believing it was the root cause of all that plight. Poor Absol

Chim
@Jess: The bones on Mandibuzz actually fit. What would you want from it? A normal vulture like all those bland bugs that have nothing going for them? Also I consider edgy as a word that's overused for everything that's considered too 'dark'/emo/gothic/whatever else they see fit to abuse the word. So that's why I don't consider any Pokémon edgy. I look at what they're supposed to represent and general design as a whole. If I go through the dark type list I see mostly predators or animals that can have a bad / mischievous nature. They are also supposed to look more rough than any other type so they get things like bones, sharper teeth and claws, etc. They just follow a pattern and stick with it. Why? Because dark types in Japanese can apparently be translated as Evil which is always portrayed by using darker colors and objects people might fear or by intimidated by. I can't read Japanese for shit but the literal translations make clear why certain types are effective against each other. (Like fighting being SE vs dark which made no sense for me in the beginning.) If you want to go ahead and use the overused word edgy for it go right ahead. I won't use that term for things that are interpreted in a certain way because of society or old fantasy tales that still inspire modern day games etc. Dragon type is also the way they are because of this reason and even Fairy. Even though GF went and used the modern version of Fairies because in the original tales they weren't that nice and friendly at all. But this is starting to become a second bug vs dragon discussion so this is all I want to say about it. Also if you say things like 'I didn't say anything that isn't true' or 'all dark types are too edgy' just because you think that way looks a bit like forcing your opinion on others and not accepting anything else because you don't think that way. That's the only reason I reacted because I still consider this nothing more than a game where my favorite types are dying while I try to kill bugs. Jess
@Chim Well, honestly, I said that (regardless if it fits or not), Dark type is by default edgy. You can accept it or not, but it's the truth. Grimdark, macabre, disaster inducing, nightmarish, etc. etc. With many elements that I find needless. Like the bones of Mandibuzz. "All those bland Bugs that have nothing going for them..." I'm just gonna laugh at it! Also, it's nice that you passionately support the types you like, and try to kill the types you don't like, but voting every 14 hours instead of 24 isn't really according to the rules of the game... Wolfox
Bugs that have nothing going for them? I mean... How many bland and boring fish are there? at least most of those bugs can be called cute in one way or another
Chim
@Jess I don't have to justify my voting hours but I'll refresh your memory just this once. If you read the rules post 1 it clearly says we can vote once each day. I happened to be gone yesterday from 7.30AM until 11.30PM. So my vote from yesterday was after 11.30PM (closer to 12PM even). This still counts as my vote from yesterday. My vote for today happened to be around 1PM . As you can see I didn't break any rules. And if I really was that dedicated to save the types I really like, I wouldn't have forgotten about this game for 2 days in a row earlier this week. So instead of accusing people of breaking the rules, you might want to think before you post. But judging by your answer I only get the impression my first thoughts about you were correct. Therefore it's absolutely useless to try and say something to you. @Wolfox I literally only like 1 bug and that's Volcarona. At least GF went a little more original with the design. Scizor, Scolipede, Yanmega, Golisopod and Araquanid aren't bad but to they're more in the category of being ok. When it comes to bland bugs: Butterfree, Dustox, Beautifly, Vivillon, Mothim all do the same shit and are completely useless because of Volcarona. Not to mention Kricketune, Parasect, Vespiquen, Ledian, Combee, Leavanny, Wormadam, Beedrill, Forretress, Ribombee, etc they all have boring designs with nothing that makes them stand out. But that's personal taste. The only reason Bug isn't my second least favorite type is because of Pikachu and all those electric rodents wasting the potential of a decent type. Jess
@Chim Your "first impression" of me was when you got all uppity for a joke I made? Saying that "you wanted to be that guy"? Since I don't particularly enjoy getting insulted, I'm just gonna ignore you from now on. Besides, I hadn't even noticed you hadn't voted for the previous 2-3 days. I don't sit in here patrolling when you vote, you see.
