SuperNova
I've been playing pokemon since I was a child and I've been hearing about competitive battling, ivs, evs and natures and I don't know what these things are and how they work. Actually I'm just a noob playing for the story. So, after playing ultra moon for the story and doing some side quests I decided to learn about these things and how to be active online. Can you help me or give me some videos-guides (if it is allowed) about competitive pokemon?
Dartu-san
I only started actively breeding for competitive purposes in Sun and Moon myself but I've been battling competitive for a few years now by using Pokémon Showdown Online. It's a great tool to learn. You should also check the Smogon University site since it has nifty information like 'sets' for each Pokémon and tips on how to use them. If you have any specific questions I could also try and answer them for you Anyway here are the sites I mentioned: http://www.smogon.com/ https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/ Edited January 11, 2018 by Dartu-san

Dartu-san
Alright so in order to get them in the main games you have two options. Ever since Sun and Moon it has been a lot easier for lazy people (such as myself). The original way to get them is to have your pokémon fight only against Pokémon that give out evs (which stand for effort values) of a specific stat you want. For instance if you want to train an offensive Pokémon like Greninja for example you'll have to make him defeat pokémon that give speed evs and others that give the specific attacking stat you want (physical or special). The other, much easier way is to use the Poké Pelago Island feature. As for stuff to use online you can use the tiers in smogon to get a general idea of which mons are considered 'top tier'. You should always try to go for a balanced team if you are starting out like having 3 physical oriented Pokémon and 3 special attackers. NickCrash
Keep in mind that gathering 6 individually strong pokemon and calling it a team is not enough. You want to have them work together to achieve a common goal. This means you might want to assign roles to your pokemon and see how you can combine them offensively, defensively, while looking at type synergy. Some pokemon are better as walls or tanks, others as sweepers or wallbreakers, and then there are those that can take different roles depending on their EV spread and moveset. It's fun once you understand the basics. Make sure you check some guides online, probably videos, probably my signature (wink wink) and make sure to have fun playing.
