Salad Table
I know that when you collect an egg and soft reset before you hatch it you can't change the pokemon, but if you soft reset before you collect the egg, can you then soft reset to get it shiny? HUEnd
Hmmm...that's a good question. I'm gonna give it a try and edit this reply. #EDIT: Yes, you can do that, at least with daycare eggs, it seems to work.
Walpurgis
I think it isn't determined until you collect the egg, but since there are no shiny sprites for the eggs and you'll have to hatch it to see what's inside I think it's more efficient to keep breeding and hatching instead of just soft resetting. Salad Table
okay great! just had a parent that was taking ages to breed, this'll speed it up!
Salad Table
and does it still show the shiny star on the egg?
Sayia
You must wait until hatching.
Walpurgis
Breeding is faster if they're the same species and/or from a different original trainer. The egg charm also speeds up breeding, but I don't remember where do you get it. I don't think the shiny star shows in the egg menu, but I'm not sure. HUEnd
No, it doesn't, as walpurgis just stated, you'll have to hatch it to find out if it's a shiny or not. Assuming (yet again) you don't bother with IVs/Nature, this might be the fastest way...
