Shanco
Ryan C here. Time for team #9. ... I have no song this time though. It was so hard to find a song suitable for the color gray that I actually gave up on trying to find one. Here's to hoping that this team is not nearly as boring as the color itself turned out to be. NOTE: The Pokemon's nicknames are chosen after frontmen of different Canadian rock bands. Because this team...it rocks. Hehehe. Randy () (M) @ Smooth Rock Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Stealth Rock - Sandstorm - Rest - Roar Weather lead, named after Randy Bachman of the Guess Who ("These Eyes", "American Woman"). Bastiodon's defenses are stupid. Mach Punch it all day, it's going to live through it. Okay, maybe its ability Sturdy helps, but still, it won't need it most of the time, unless we're talking about a blow from ol' Conker. Stealth Rock is going to be the main source of damage for Bastiodon once he sets up Sandstorm, with the Smooth Rock to keep the good ol' Sandstorm going. In the sand, I can have him Rest right in the opponent's face or Roar the opponent repetitively into the hazards. Gord () (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Hustle EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - X-Scissor - Stone Edge - Hone Claws - Superpower Hustlin' sweeper, named after Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip ("Grace, Too", "Ahead By A Century"). Hustle is a useful abilty, but without Hone Claws would mean that the fighting would be down to dumb luck. It's fun to be lucky, but it's more fun to win, so...yeah. X-Scissor is the main STAB attack at 180 base power thanks to all the factors. Rock Slide is going to need a Hone Claws boost but will be the counter to Fire-types. Superpower is a desperate measure when desperate times call for them. The Lum Berry stops status from stopping it from stopping other Pokemon from stopping...yeah, you get it. Deryck () (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Sand Rush EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Rapid Spin - Swords Dance Sand Rush attacker, named after Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 ("In Too Deep", "Pieces"). Excadrill will abuse the sand by flying around and slicing everything in sight. It can also use Rapid Spin, serving a double purpose as a supporter for its team. (Imagine that, a supportive Excadrill.) Other than that, though, it's the same thing. Earthquake, Rock Slide, Swords Dance, they all make Excadrill what it is. Ash () (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Illusion EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Dark Pulse - Focus Blast - Flamethrower - Nasty Plot Special Attacker, named after Ashley Buchholz of Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker ("Laces Out", "Hollowpoint Sniper Hyperbole"). In a team full of physical attackers, this was an absolutely necessary commodity to prevent the team from being walled stiff by things like Skarmory. Dark Pulse will function as the STAB and has a chance to make the opponent flinch, allowing for another attack. Focus Blast is a coverage to prepare for the odd Justified Pokemon that switch in...if it isn't out of there. Flamethrower deals with Skarmie when nothing else can. Nasty Plot increases Zoroark's already already great presence on the field as a sweeper. Geddy () (M) @ Smooth Rock Trait: Iron Barbs EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Sandstorm - Power Whip - Thunder Wave - Leech Seed Second weather user, named after Geddy Lee of Rush ("Limelight", "2112 Overture/The Temples of Syrinx"). Ferrothorn will be my main weapon against the rain teams of the OU meta, switching into things like Kingdra and setting up Sandstorm right in their face. This, personally, is my favorite way of saying "f*!k you" to rain teams. Sandstorm will stay for eight turns thanks to the Smooth Rock. Power Whip is what destroys certain commodities of rain teams, and pounds the living daylights out of Kingdra while tanking anything it throws at it. It tanks Kingdra so well, in fact, theat I might as well laugh at it, using status moves and pounding away until Kingdra gives up and I use Sandstorm. By the way, those status moves are Thunder Wave for support and Leech Seed for self-sustenance. Emily () (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Shadow Ball - Hidden Power [Fighting] - Calm Mind - Pain Split Offensive spinblocker, named after Emily Haines of Metric ("Youth Without Youth", "Gold Guns Girls"). The objective of Misdreavus is to counter the Fighting- and Ground-types, who plague the rest of the team with weaknesses. Calm Mind is what keeps the set going, piling up Special Defense statups. Shadow Ball and Hidden Power [Fighting] are the moves that benefit from the offensive side of Calm Mind. Pain Split is the source of healing for Misdreavus in the damaging sandstorm. How about the exportable to rock out with? Randy (Bastiodon) (M) @ Smooth Rock Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Stealth Rock - Sandstorm - Rest - Roar Gord (Durant) (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Hustle EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - X-Scissor - Stone Edge - Hone Claws - Superpower Deryck (Excadrill) (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Sand Rush EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Rapid Spin - Swords Dance Ash (Zoroark) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Illusion EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Dark Pulse - Focus Blast - Flamethrower - Nasty Plot Geddy (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Smooth Rock Trait: Iron Barbs EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 SDef Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Sandstorm - Power Whip - Thunder Wave - Leech Seed Emily (Misdreavus) (F) @ Eviolite Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Shadow Ball - Hidden Power [Fighting] - Calm Mind - Pain Split First 5 battles: 1. 1-0 loss vs. [EV] Explosms. 2. 3-0 loss vs. Guardian of the Sea. 3. 6-0 win vs. someone whose name I don't remember. 4. 5. Have at it! The final monocolor, next time in the Monocolor series!

Administrators Ikaru Posted November 9, 2012 Administrators Share Posted November 9, 2012 Here, have a literally gray song! But I unfortunately don't have much to say about the team itself other than loving the music-themed nicknames and use of the Misdreavus family c:I did notice, however, that your mention of a fighting weakness is an understatement; is there really nothing else you can use, or are you that sure of Misdreavus?EDIT: Eeeeehhhhh, looking at the list of gray-classed Pokemon, no, I guess there isn't is there? Summer
You would think Zoroak is Black. NOPE. Can You Give Me Reason Of Using HP[Fight] On Emily Hidden Power [Fighting] are the moves that benefit from the offensive side of Calm Mind. Pain Split is the source of healing for Misdreavus in the damaging sandstorm. Kbai.
