The Maltese Talonflame Chapter 1: The Cerise Letter

Yours Truly

Elias wipes his face with from the burning pepper spray with little to no success. His eyes are watering and red from the pepper spray and he now picks up his ringing Xtransceiver to check the calls on them. "Hey, I had run into a girl from Team Rocket and tried following her but ended up getting pepper sprayed. She said she was looking for her friend Alan. I think it could be the guy you took down. She will be heading in your direction, so be careful. I'm coming with Lizzie towards you, in case you need help battling her. I'll try coming near you as soon as I can." With that, Elias takes out his pokeball and sends the charmander out. "Lizzie, I need you to try and guide me towards Horace. If some suspicious people get near us, cover us in a smokescreen." He rubs his eyes with the sleeve of his jacket. He can barely make out shapes in front of him, and he starts moving towards the cacophonous area where the battle had finished.

Serra slowly became suspicious of the suitcase, as she slowed down to take a breath. Just what were the odds of the suitcase having already been unlocked? She lowered her body and examined the lock on the suitcase, checking if it was still intact. And then, if the suitcase was unlocked, she would check if the case that supposedly contained the item was still there.

She would be interrupted by Adara's call. "Tch... Not now, Adara. Actually, try and establish contact with Horace and Elias instead. I'll get back to you later - " and then it was a call from the devil himself, Horace. "So that was you. I had to run anyway. I'd like to get to somewhere safe ASAP in order to check the suitcase properly... which I am about to do now. Oh, and I got a call from Adara just now. She should be trying to dialing to you and Elias right about now, so just count on her for now, alright?"

After that, she would continue her operation.

Aster couldn't help but find the kid's enthusiasm oldly amusing, if not a bit annoying. He may as well go with it at this point. Can't ruin the kid's dream.  "Don't worry kid, The Justice Squad has everything under control." He gave a cold stare to the boy before lifting up Gus right hand to give a thumbs up. Almost like he was on queue, Frostbite left from the bushes in-front of Aster and did a super hero pose as soon as he did that. Then the ice cat immediately went back into the shadows. Aster turned to Jayden before saying,  "Alright, Dr.Abnormal,"   then looking towards Kayn,  "and Rex Arthur, let's head over to the shrine!" With that, Aster and Frost began heading towards the Shrine with his group mates following.

The youngster performed a slightly awkward salute in response with an odd look of admiration on his face as he shouted, "TAKE CARE JUSTICE SQUAD!!!!" and performed a super hero pose in exchange as the group walked towards parts unknown.

(2)
Aster was quite sure that they were heading through a shortcut to the Shrine itself as he led them off of the beaten path and walked towards the east for a surprisingly long amount of time... and it isn't until they reached a small and well maintained wooden cabin located near to the shoreline that the three of them realized that they were heading the entirely wrong way. Strangely enough their Xtranceivers seemed to report a complete and utter lack of a signal, rendering them unusable as anything but a fancy watch until you find your way back to civilization. Incidentally the time is now 13:21 PM, the three of you appear to have walked for half an hour.

Horace found himself being on the spot, surrounding by people glaring at him, alone, since Serra had already left with the case,  with an ink-covered criminal whose well-being was certainly more questionable than his houndour's who was for sure on critical condition. He was tempted to run away too, but his sense of righteousness couldn't ignore the fact that a criminal was in front of him ready to be captured,  and both him and his pokemon were in need of medical attention too.  There was, of course, the matter of the crowd.

"Everyone please calm down"  he said around him while approaching the criminal, "this man had stolen an important item and we had to take it back.  You, recall your houndour to avoid further damage.  No other sudden movements apart from that. I'm watching you."   Magnum, still on his hand, gave him an intimidating glare that would cause him imagining scenarios much worse than his current predicament. He also spared some extra glares to some people within the crowd that were looking especially hostile.   "Once you are done, you're coming with me."

His Xtranceiver rang again, he picked it up with his free hand without losing sight of the criminal, or lowering Magnum.   Upon listening to Serra, he replied with "yes, I saw, Magnum was the one who shot the Octazooka. I wish you wouldn't have ran. I will apprehend the criminal. I don't know where Elias is though, and seeing as I will have my hands busy, maybe you should see if you can find him. He is not even picking up the calls and it's getting really aggravating."

(11)
Rather unfortunately for Horace, his 'revolver' seemed to have really gotten into his role as a deadly weapon a little too much as it fired a warning shot into the air that lowered down a bit of harmless rubble down onto the crowd, causing them to quickly disperse and get the hell away from 'the pair of deranged and more than slightly unstable maniacs that shot a man for no reason.'

The suspect tried his best to shuffle away from Horace while his attention was momentarily spent on the fleeing civilians, but he quickly complied with the armed man's demands and slowly raised up his wounded hands and whimpered a tiny bit. It occurs to Horace that he should have brought a pair of cuffs for this.

(8)
It took an unsurprisingly short amount of time for the woman to locate her partner, all she needed to do was move up the stream of people heading away from the place she last saw him after all, and she wondered what fresh hell would await her when she walked into the market square where it all happened. She quickly noticed the flaming stalls and her eyes simply followed the trail of oil that led all the way to her partner Alan; who seemed to flicker in and out of existence a bit as the members of the crowd tried to run past her. She let out a sigh after she realized that she would have to be her partner's knight in rusted armor once more, and she exploited the momentary gaps in the rushing crowd to try and conceal her presence as she quickly rushed towards Horace with a white and red Pokeball in hand, and a deadly look in her eyes.

(5 v 3)
Horace, it took you a while, but you managed to spot a rather angry woman in a black blazer with an R symbol emblazoned on its right breast rushing towards you with a Pokeball in hand, what in the hell do you do now?.

Elias, you are just so fucking lost right now through all of the twisting alleyways that you just...decide to cool off for a moment and try to wipe away the mace in your eyes before you try to find Horace once more.

There was one problem to start with, for one thing you hadn't noticed it earlier because you were running, but the suitcase feels a lot... lighter than you'd think it would be, so either the metal case and its contents were remarkably light, or it just wasn't there anymore. The second thing you notice is that someone seems to have worked over the lock pretty well, the suspect was rather good for being able to break open a lock of such complexity, but they left some rather obvious looking toolmarks on the surface that causes you to believe that it was opened rather forcefully. You only noticed the third thing after you finally cracked open the case, there was a manila folder in there yes, obviously full of important documents you are not supposed to read (Although you do recall hearing Professor Oak say that there would be more than one folder), but the thing is your first instinct was right. There was no silver case.

"... Fuck."

A drop of sweat fell on the cold tiles of the Underground. Why did he carry the suitcase without the goods? Urgh...

She shut the suitcase and then called Horace again. "It's the right suitcase, but the silver case in it is gone. I'm asking a real lot out of you right now, but you need to grab that bastard for me. That's our last clue." She glanced at the now nearly-useless suitcase. That one folder warranted carrying the whole suitcase. It must still be important somehow... Damn, I can't just leave it here!

She held the call for a bit, waiting for Horace's response. She was at a loss, unsure whether to leave the Underground with the suitcase in safety or risk losing whatever was worth firing Embers in defense for in order to assist Horace in his pickup.

"Jeez, Magnum, the last part was unnecessary,  even though i can't complain about the cleared crowd." he turned to the criminal. "Good, now stand up and-" his eye caught a woman clad in black running towards him, in stark contrast with the rest of the crowd that was running away. The pokeball held readily in her hand said it all. "stay down!"  he tensely told him as he quickly turned Magnum towards the woman, commanding "her pokeball!" before clicking the Aurora Beam trigger,  counting on his, and Magnum's trained combined precision to dispose of the threat before it even becomes one.  His Xtranceiver was ringing insistantly but there was only so many things he could handle at a time.

Elias tries to wipe his eyes again, hoping that he would be able to see a little better. Elias picks up his Xtransceiver and tries calling Serra or somebody in the office. "Hey, I've been hit by mace, and Horace is chasing after the perp. There is another woman from Team Rocket here. She is looking for her friend, a guy. So I'm assuming that the perp must be the guy. Go find Horace and help him. I'll get there as soon as I can."

"Dammit! He's not responding!" Serra grew increasingly exasperated. And then finally, Elias called. "There you are! ... Horace got the perp, I think. Last time I saw him, he was busy rethinking his terrible life choices on the ground. He shouldn't have much trouble, if the Rocket engages him... And Adara's on her way as well."

But then again, it wasn't like she had to make her presence particularly clear.

"Anyway, I'll see what I can do," Serra hung up with that. She decided to head back, stopping just a turn away from the hallway where the scene took place. She looked at Cleffy. "Okay, I need you to make yourself really quiet here. Hold your keys real tight... There. Now, just fly low and sneak into a vendor's table or something close to the guy we just beat up, and use Fairy Lock around the area. Then, just keep blaring Metal Sound at whoever Horace's engaging, alright?"

Jeanne considered calling her driver to give her ride to the underground of Goldenrod but decided against it. After all, that would probably draw to much attention to her. A bit after Adara had left Jeanne finally looked up from her phone having finally gotten through her contacts. "Well, I will be heading out now. Miss Emilia do you think you could look and see if Team Rocket had any bases around the underground or nearby somewhere and send anything you find to us? I know they took over the Goldenrod Radio Tower but that's about it. If anything it will at least give us a place to start looking. " Jeanne said as she headed to the door. She stopped before leaving looking like something just dawned on her. "Professor Oak, would you mind giving me your contact information? Having your expert knowledge of Pokemon could be of great use to use while we are in the field. And besides your stories sound highly interesting and i would love to hear you tell them at sometime well I'm not working." Jeanne said to Oak giving him a cuter then usual smile the sameone she used when she got older men to tell her things they normally wouldn't.

regradless if she got Oaks inforamtion or not Jeanne then gets a taxi to take her to the underground. Once there she pays the driver(givnig him a sizable tip) and moves out of the way of the people moving waiting for the information she asked to be sent if any. If she gets anything on bases she makes her way to where they are trying to get ahold of the others to meet her there. If there was no information then she will try and contact the others to meet her somewhere so they can trade information.

Horace aims the Aurora Beam straight at the woman moving towards him with her pokeball held out. Magnum, being a little over-excited about the idea of shooting an aurora beam, let's out a continuous beam of aurora lights, directly at the woman and extending beyond her. The beam hits her hard, making her visibly shiver and causing a sudden onset of hypothermia, which leads to an almost deathly blue like look to her otherwise pale skin. Behind her, the beam ends up hitting a very familiar man, as Elias, still rubbing his eyes, is walking past the alleyway. Lizzie manages to avoid most of the attack, being walking on the other side of Elias.

Elias himself, rather confused now at being attacked, quickly runs forward, unsure of where Horace is, and confused about the direction of the attack. Mistaken about being attacked from behind, he runs straight ahead, away from where Horace was fighting the rocket grunt. After running blindly for a few seconds, and stumbling into a whole bunch of angrypeople, Elias manages to find an empty or safe alleyway, finally cleaning out his eyes using moisture from the aurora beam.

Cleffy floats ahead of Serra, trying its best to keep quiet, hiding from view of few of the people who were nearby. The woman doesn't seem to notice the Klefki and it manages to use Fairy Lock to cage-in Serra, Horace, and the two grunts in the area, as a series of magical chains appear from swirls of pink energy and create a locked-in enclosure. After using Fairy Lock, Cleffy starts attacking the hypothermic woman, emitting a harsh sound of metal on metal screeching at her, and the woman, before even managing to do much else except remove her pokeball, gets knocked out.

(6 partial success for hide and metal sound)

Oak smiles back at the young girl, then says, "Well little lady, if you do need my expertise on pokemon, you can always look into the pokedex on your transceiver. All my knowledge is available free to those who have a pokedex. As for my stories for when you aren't working, let's just say, knowing your boss, if you aren't working, you are probably dead." With that, Oak turns back towards Daniel.

Emilia instantly responds to Jeanne, "All Team Rocket bases were seized and emptied out promptly after their disbanding. I could find the list of old bases, but those properties were auctioned off and are now commercial properties. At least any that were in Johto were. I'm not so sure about the Kanto ones, but it is likely that the same was done with them."

Serra revealed herself and ran into the scene. "Good work, Cleffy." Cleffy jingled in response to the praise. She then turned to Horace, who had just made popsicle out of the Rocket Grunt. "And you too, Horace. I was getting worried. I'm here with bad news as well, though. The suitcase is missing a lot of things. Only one manila folder remains. So, we'll need to get more information out of these two," she eyed the two living wrecks on the ground. "Well then, gentlemen, my hand's not free, so I'll count on you two to carry them back to the agency, alright?"

"See you at the exit," Serra began to make her way back up. She called Adara once again on her way there. "Hey, Adara. Never mind about what I just said, we're done here. Returning now."

As soon as she had hung up, she received notice from Jeanne to meet her somewhere. Serra suggested the entrance of the Underground, as that was where Horace, Elias, and her were heading.

Horace awkwardly scratched his head in front of the scene that was the outcome of what Magnum caused.  "....I think we will use the training grounds quite a lot. You need to control your firepower pal. We can't be leaving destruction in our wake. You are supposed to be a gun, not a bazooka."  Magnum knew he should have been apologetic, but he couldn't help radiating pride in his accomplishment.  in his mind, the scarier he was, the better.

It was at that moment that Serra came with her klefki, and proceeded to beat on a dead horse by attacking the already possibly disabled woman, knocking her out for good.  Magnum let out a cry of approval towards the klefki.

After listening to her,  the exasperated Horace figured there was little time dewelling in stuff not related to their immediate goals, and seeing as the girl left without even bothering to wait for a response, he picked up his Xtranceiver and called Elias.  "Where are you man? We ve got some serious shit in our hands here at the moment,  please come towards the place you no doubt heard the Metal Sound from just moments ago."

With that done, he went to the houndour guy. "You heard the lady. Though this doesn't change my initial plan anyway. Now stand up and get a move on. Any suspicious movements other than that will probably not be tolerated by Magnum here, as it has been evident so far."  Magnum's death stare further emphsized that.

Horace would lead the man near his knocked out accomplice, and make him wait along with him till Elias comes to help with the woman.

After finally managing to clean his eyes of the pepper spray, Elias takes out his ringing Transceiver and speaks with Horace. "Yep, got it. Sorry about that. I got pepper sprayed, and then hit by some ice attack. Just coming, give me 2 minutes." With that, he ran towards the initial alley he was at and managed to see Horace standing near one male rocket grunt, and the unconscious female rocket grunt. Checking to see if she was alive, he picked up her pokeball, pocketed it and proceeded to fireman's lift her to take her with them. He noticed she was cold, almost freezing and then saw the Horsea with Horace and understood what happened. "Damnit Horace. You just attacked me with that attack as well. Forget it. Let's go, I can see Serra running towards the entrance." He waited for Horace and the other grunt.

@Yash @DemICE@IntSys@Amine Chankey3ft7 @rustytengo

The five of you all make your way back to the entrance of the Goldenrod underground at around the same time with all of your prisoners in tow. The light of the sun is just intense enough to cause both Horace and Elias's eyes some discomfort as they had spent more time running around in the underground without exiting than everyone else, and Serra is in all honesty quite exhausted by the constant running back and forth up and down the cavernous halls of the Goldenrod underground.

@DemICE

It took you some time and a whole lot of effort, but you finally manage to convey the fact that you wanted the only conscious team rocket grunt to follow you after the man finally stopped shivering in fear for long enough to be read your lips...although of course he didn't actually follow you until after Magnum spurted just a little bit of ink on the man's face of course.

Your trip back up to the entrance was surprisingly uneventful when you consider the fact that you were constantly coercing a half deaf man who was obviously in great distress into moving where you wanted him to move; perhaps people are just too used to seeing suspicious behavior these days... or maybe they just wanted to round the corner before they call the police on you.

@Yash

Your trip back to the entrance was a series of close calls and dirty looks that finally ended when you had a sudden burst of inspiration and outright declared that you were bringing her to a nearby infirmary. Of course that was a blatant lie, but no one seemed to recognize it as one until you rather foolishly walked past an actual infirmary, and you found yourself having to cover your retreat by ordering your Pokemon to use a smokescreen and getting the hell out of dodge.

@IntSys

As a semi respectable looking woman who was carrying a briefcase and being  guarded by dangerous looking Pokemon you....ran into a spot of trouble along the way as a hoodlum jumped you with a knife and a vicious looking Kanto born Rattata inside of an alleyway you tried to use as a shortcut. Although in the end of the day the trouble proved itself to be nothing that you couldn't handle yourself as your Klefki quickly taught the would be mugger a lesson that he would never forget...that Steel types are always resistant to Normal type attacks, no matter how well trained the Normal types are.

Adara quickly runs towards the Pokémon Center, and returns with a bottle of Fresh Water, of course she had to pay for it, but she saw that Serra was very exhausted, and she wanted to help her. "Here you go, Serra" Said Adara, as she awaited for Serra to reply.

"Well, shit..." Aster mumbled trying to get connection on his Xtranceiver but ultimately getting nothing but static. He let out an annoyed sigh before before shutting the device and turning towards the cabin.  "Let's see if anyone is inside that cabin, hopefully there is at least someone there who can lead us back to civilization." As he said that he glanced at where Frostbite was who was still looming in shadows. He nodded in his direction to keep hiding until further instruction. After which he headed towards the cabin door and gave it a couple of knocks,  "Helloooooo. Is anybody in there? We got lost in the forrest and were wondering how to get back to Golden Rod or the Forrest shrine."

Serra took the Fresh Water without much thought and gulped it all in one go. "Thanks, I needed that."

"Yeah, we'll need a pickup. You work on that, I'll just sit down and take a break here... " She sat down on a bench. "Jeanne, you want information, right? Here's the basic rundown: We got the suitcase back, right here," she showed her the suitcase, "though there's only one folder left in here. In other words, we were late. However, the good thing is that we've captured the guy carrying the suitcase, and the rocket grunt who was supposed to meet up with him, over there." She then pointed to the wrecked man and woman that Horace and Elias brought with them.

A few moments of silence passes over the whole group as everyone other than Aster seemed to be content with expectantly waiting for the cabin's occupants to make their response known. Those few moments of silence slowly doubled, and then tripled in duration as they waited, and waited, and waited for someone... anyone to say something in response.

(13)
But of course those few moments of patience finally paid off when someone inside of said cabin finally said something in response, rather unfortunately said response was, "String Shot," causing a rapid stream of string to rather painfully attach Aster face first to the cabin's door with enough force to bring the entire damn thing down with him, causing a small Zubat to quickly fly in to try and bite away at him, (5) Only for it to fail to find purchase on the man's string covered body.

Aster, your face was just smashed into a solid wooden door and you are having a spot of trouble with breathing or looking in any other direction. Kayn and Jayden, you just saw your colleague get viciously attacked by a bunch of string that seems to have been shot from somewhere above the tree line, you don't exactly know where or what shot it but you do manage to get a glimpse of a multicolored creature jump towards another tree.

Horace would perhaps find himself getting a little bit annoyed, perhaps by all of the odd looks the gathering crowd was giving him, or perhaps by the fact that his phone rang for a peculiar amount of time before his call was finally answered by that one odd fellow named Jim, wait no I meant Jimmy...or was it Jamesssss?. "Yes hello this is James speaking, how can I help you today uhh..Whoreace?."

Horace let out an audible sigh before replying with "Hi, this is Horace Campton, and I will refrain from asking how you even thought that to be a possible name, and just ask you to send a vehicle to Goldenrod's Underground entrance  where we are located, because we have apprehended two criminals who are connected with our case, and we cannot be possibly entering a taxi with them along. Also if possible, send some manner of first aid along, since there have been injuries, and a severe frostbite -don't ask how did that happen-. I hope the agency covers for all the above things, right?"

James let out a slight sigh as the clickety clack of a cheap keyboard's keys being hammered could be heard in the background, "Whorace seems relatively sane when you compare it to Steel Hammerhands, who is a woman who actually works in this agency, she is a nice woman, but anyway-," a slight beeping sound could be heard in the distance before he sighs once more and says, "Well mister Horace, I am sorry to say but all of our vehicles are occu-," another ding sound could be heard in the background, and James smiled and chuckled a little upon seeing the six word message  that suddenly appeared on his screen, "You know what on second thought we do have a car ready for you actually, you just stay put...he'll be right with you in a moment."

"Oh, you do? Thats great, i will be waiting. Thanks James. I might ask you about Mrs Hammerhands in some free time heh. See ya."  Said Horace, closing the Xtanceiver and pocketing it.  "Ain't that swell? Finally some smooth progress!" He turned to the shivering man. "Don't worry, if you two are good pups, we might let you off easy, surely easier than if you tried to resist or escape and then got caught again, so be sure to help us thoroughly when we ask you questions."

James seemed to have really enjoyed hearing Horace's statement if the fact that he had chuckled the whole time was any indication, and Horace could have sworn that he heard a slightly muffled, "Wouldn't want to be ya," said in response just before he could close his Xtransceiver and end the call.

Just after you turned around to converse with the two suspects you were bringing in (10) and managed to convince the only concious criminal that cooperation was in fact the way to go; you noticed that a crowd had done its best to surreptiously gather around you and the rest of the group, and after a few moments have passed a a particularly brave young woman steps out and threatens to call the police on all of you, a statement that was soon followed by several other men and women stating that they would do the same...for some reason.

Frostbite saw his trainer get covered in string which he would go help with but he noticed a creature within the trees. Eh, his trainer could probably get himself out of that bind or one of the folks with him could help. So he decided that it would be best to get that creature out in the open. He quickly and silently when over to where he last noticed the creature and if it is still there use ice shard to blast it out into the open. If it isn't there, try and locate where it is.

Meanwhile, with Aster, you could hear faint muffling which a few curse words could be made out if one tried. He tried struggling out of the bind but he couldn't so he tried to move the hand in pocket to grab his pocket knife and try to cut the sticky substance himself. Also, if he broke his nose because of this the culprit will regret ever messing with him.

"Annnd you're calling the police for what, exactly?" Serra stepped up front, facing the first woman that had stood up. "Oh, 'I saw a lot of people on the streets,' is that it?"

"Not cool, ma'am. Not cool. We just walked out of the dirtiest hole in the city alive, and all of us would much rather just go home, eat a hearty meal, take a hot shower, and forget about whatever we saw in the Underground, so why won't you just take your crowd elsewhere and make life easier for both you and me?"

"Go ahead and call the police if you so deisre, but as my comrade had mentioned, what are you going to tell them, its not like we broke any laws, in fact we haven't even done anything wrong, " Said Adara before she turned to Serra and said " Time wastes, let us procceed and go back to the agency so we can start questioning these two. The sooner we retrieve the suitcase's contents, the sooner we can move on to other matters."
