IntSys
On this episode of "IntSys makes terrible life decisions," I present to you, Battle Network: Wily's Legacy.Almost everything is crammed in this Google Doc (Click Me!) Discord Server (Click Me!) (Special Thanks to @Empiricist for sitting with me for about a month, condensing what used to be 9 pages of information for me, and helping me test and improve the combat mechanics. I wouldn't be able to get here without your help) The Combat's deeper than it looks, but don't worry, additional mechanics will be introduced and briefed as we encounter them. In this RP, in order to maintain steady activity, there are a few "rules" to be aware of: Spoiler 1. Aside from whenever I update, I will also prod you with another ping for every week passed without seeing activity from you on the Discord server, unless you told me beforehand that you are going to be busy. 2. You must inform me whenever your activity is going to see a sharp drop due to personal issues. You don't have to tell me what it is, just the amount of time you will be unavailable. I will stop prodding you until you return. 3. If you're going to be completely unavailable (ie. absolutely no access to the Internet) for a month or longer, I'll put the RP on hold for you. Don't feel bad about it, though. I'm looking for 4 to 8 players at the moment, but that might change if this somehow sees enough interest.

Chevaleresse
Operator Name: Mitsuru Tsukuda Gender: Male Age: 18 Birth Date: March 18 Personality: Relaxed, fun-loving, and friendly, if a bit selfish. Somewhat forgetful. Generally thinks people take NetBattling too seriously, and a terrible liar. He tends to overestimate his competency at things. Appearance: Bleached blonde hair with dark eyes, middling height (for Japan,) tendency toward torn-up jeans and sloppily worn shirts - in other words, Mitsuru looks a lot like a delinquent. (Perhaps it's to compensate for his girly name.) His frame is a bit stockier than you might expect, though, with a blend of both fat and muscle. Backstory: Mitsuru wasn't ever a particularly exceptional student or athlete; he was on sports teams in school, but was never a particularly standout player, he got passable but not outstanding grades, et cetera. He was, however, quite into NetBattling, an interest only furthered when he received an email titled along the lines of "PLEASE TAKE HER AWAY," delivered by a rather irritable looking custom NetNavi - one Score.EXE, sent off by his cousin in America. He seemed to be good enough at it, too, placing in a variety of local tournaments. Good enough to attract the attention of the mysterious sender of the email with a world tour ticket attached, anyway. He assumed it was some sort of scam, but accepted anyway; it's not like he had a lot to lose if it was fake, and the sender hadn't asked for any money. Score begrudgingly agreed, and so the two set off to claim their prize. Baggage: A couple generic manga, a couple manga hidden inside those generic manga, laptop and paraphernalia, spare clothes (with extra socks and underwear at Score's insistence.) Navi Name: Score.EXEGender: FPersonality: Quiet, bordering on solemn, and honorable as one might expect. Tends to clash with her operator a bit due to differences of opinion, and due to being a bit of a nag otherwise. Enjoys giving advice to people and Navis alike, but not exactly talented with the delivery of such. Appearance: Score has a very humanlike face, with bright blue eyes and what seems like blonde hair peeking out from beneath her helmet. Said helmet, along with the rest of her armor, has a predominantly blue and white color scheme, with triangular prongs angled back from over her ears. Her shoulders have broad, flat pauldrons reminiscent of armor worn by samurai, blue and divided into three panels by white bars. Each panel contains a green circuit pattern, which is also present in bands around her chest. Score's lower half seems to have met some sort of midpoint between a dress and bulky armor, with her legs and feet mostly concealed by faulds. Her boots are larger than one might expect. Her buster takes the form of a rather large sword, actually longer than she is tall. It opens up when firing, the tip splitting apart and receding into the edges of the weapon, which lift outward; the cannon is underneath. Navi Design: Element: Aqua Buster: Attack: The amount of damage dealt by your buster. Equal to the number of points in the stat. Charge: The time it takes to fully charge your buster. At 1 point, it takes 10 hs to fully charge a buster. For every additional point in the stat, it takes 2 less hs to charge. Speed: The rate at which your buster can rapid-fire. At 1 point, the buster fires 1 time per hs, and can only fire consecutively up to 4 hs before having to cooldown for a total of 2 hs (only moving and waiting will reduce the cooldown). At level 2 and 4, you get an extra shot per hs, and at level 3 and 5, you get to fire 3 more hs before having to cooldown. Charge Shot: Name: Step Sword Base Damage: 30 Damage Growth: 20 Range: Warp to the second panel before the user and cuts the column before the panel. The user warps back after performing the attack. Cancelled if the panel is occupied. Charge Rate Penalty: 8 hs Firing Speed: 1 hs (Includes the warp) Projectile Speed: N/A Cooldown: 1 hs Projectile Interactions: Intangible. Strider
I may be interested in this. Depends on getting some character inspiration, but the system sounds cool! WIP Hina and Buzzkill.EXE Spoiler Operator: Name: Hina Kurosawa Gender: Female Age: 36 Birth Date: June 28th, 2000 Personality: Vindictive and critical when talking about her ex husband, but this fierceness seems lacking in most other conversations. However, a hint of it may be visible in her drive to find the legacy, her way of trying to get back at her ex, through succeeding at something far bigger than he can ever hope to achieve. She tends to be almost brutally honest when talking about her children, but if one listens long enough, it becomes obvious that she dearly loves them along with their faults, rather than just ignoring their flaws like some parents. Occasionally, she inadvertantly monologues about creating a legacy for herself, a trait which she, to her own great annoyance, picked up from her ex. Appearance: She generally appears in public in a plain grey suit, customary for her job, and wears her hair in a tight bun as an additional aspect of this professional appearance. her face is pretty, in an ordinary, serious sort of way. Some frown lines are obvious, and one can tell that she's past thirty. She generally wears a pair of usually very plain earrings, though they do have some variety from day to day. She also wears a pair of low heels, slightly padded on the bottom to reduce noise. Backstory: Hina had a fairly standard childhood, raised in a decently well off middle class household. She excelled in school, though she did nothing exceptionally noteworthy. After college, she quickly found work in a software insurance firm, focused on providing business insurance to software companies, with a specialty in the specific issues a software company might come up against, such as information leaks, security breaches, and lawsuits. Here, Hina met Kaito Miyamoto. They got along well, and she was infected by his desire for greatness, for a lasting name, a legacy. He could talk at length about his dreams of glory, and infect people with them. After a while, they married, and were happy for a time. However, they continued to work at the same job, nothing changing. Eventually, slowly, Hina began to realize that Kaito was going nowhere, that his dreams were just that, dreams. He had ideals, and hopes for glory, but no ambition and drive with which to pursue them. Whenever Hina prompted him to try something, he procrastinated, pointed out the problems in the plan. The repeated monologues about a legacy became boring first, then irritating, then infuriating. They're marriage became plagued by arguments, and eight years after they married, they decided to get a divorce to spare the children from the fighting. Hina had hoped to get custody of the children, but during the settlements, Kaito's eloquence about a legacy convinced the court that he could best provide a future for the children. He infected them with that same grandiose vision that had captivated Hina, that vision of a future that Hina knew he would never achieve. This is a simplification of course, but it's what Hina saw in the proceedings. It was a bitter and infuriating disappointment. Three months later though, Hina received a message, a message, detailing a way in which she could do what her ex husband had never been able to do. Make a legacy of her own. Who knew? Maybe she could win back custody of her children if she won. Or maybe this attempt of hers might inspire her ex to actively pursue a legacy. Inspire him to actually pursue his dreams, rather than just dream them. And if he did, well, that would mean a better life for the children. It was something to strive for, and while Hina's feelings were a conflicted mess between wanting to beat her ex to his own dreams, winning back her children, securing their future, and maybe just a hint of that dream of a legacy that Kaito had inspired in her, she knew immediately that she was going to go for it. Baggage: A couple changes of clothes, toiletries, pens, paper, and a PET presumably. Navi: Name: Buzzkill.EXE Gender: Female Personality: Twitchy and goal oriented. Buzzkill tends to focus on needling other Navi's in a way on the borderline between teasing and a genuine nuisance. Her thought seems to be the intent to screw with their heads before battle. Appearance: Humanoid, with red head, and a robotic looking face, though the rest of her body is more humanlike. A set of spikes jut out of her head directly upward, as a sort of built in crown. Tends to have a slight yellow glow, and carries a buster that crackles with electricity. Navi Design: Element: Elec Buster: Attack:3 Charge:2 Speed:2 Charge Shot: Name: Buster Buzzer Base Damage: 10 Damage Growth: 10 Range: An electric shock that will hit the tile in front of the user, and the column after that, like a T. (Other option is just the column in front of the user) Charge Rate Penalty: +6 hs Firing Speed/Projectile Speed: Instant Cooldown: 3 hs Projectile Interactions: Intangible, stuns an enemy for 6 hs if it hits. LucidRain
Axel and Mirona.EXE Spoiler Operator Name: Axel Erikson Gender: Male Age: 18 Birth Date: 25th December Personality: Rowdy and troublesome, Axel has a confident personality who seems to always end up in the middle of a mess. Axel is also quite ambitious, determined to be the best Net Battler there is (though safe to say that for his current skill level, he is nowhere near feasibility). In many respects, he is rather impulsive and has trouble sorting through information. Having repeatedly failed in life, he has a practical mindset to challenges and is quite bold in adventures. Appearance: Short blonde hair with blue eyes, with light freckles. A tooth sticks out like a fang inside his mouth. Quite a bit shorter than most for his age, and wears a cream-brown hoodie. Usually seen with a Rubik’s Cube in hand, and plays with it when he’s bored or nervous. Backstory: Axel was born in America and his family moved to Japan because his father had taken up a job there. He had trouble in school, and even more trouble finding a job afterwards. Having bad grades and a less-than-stellar track records in detention times, he dropped out of school early and took up several part time jobs to pay off his rent in his one-room apartment. When he was free, he would do NetBattles and customising his Navi with the money he gathered. When he received the message, he was less than enthusiastic at the cost of giving up all his part-times, but joined in for the plane ticket and the prospect of adventure. Baggage: A 4*4 Rubik’s cube, unsolved. Couple of Ramen packets. Retractable self-defence baton. Cheap First Aid medical kit. Wallet. Navi Name: Mirona.EXE Gender: Female Personality: Acts like a patient, level-headed counterpart, and often balances out Axel’s tendency to charge in. Though she regards Axel as a child to control and disregards his ambitions as unrealistic, she respects his decisions in combat and has a firm belief that Axel is a good person. Appearance: Long green hair with horn-like antennas in place of ears. She wears a silver lightweight plate armour with a sword on her hilt along with her buster. Uses her sword for her charge shot or sword attacks, though this is more or less cosmetic. Navi Design Element: Electricity Buster Attack: (2) Charge: (4) Speed: (2) Charge Shot Name: Lunging Strike Base Damage: 10 Damage Growth: 10 Range: Mirona steps forward one panel and then cuts the column in front of her like a Broadsword Charge Rate Penalty: +2 Firing Speed / Projectile Speed: 1hs /Instant Cooldown: 2hs Projectile Interactions: Intangible Navi Customizer: Attack +1 (2MB) Speed +1 (1MB) 3 * Charge +1 (3MB) Undershirt (2MB) Total: 8 / 16 MB
Hal Henderics
Brock and Vile.EXE Spoiler Operator Name: [Brock Bragburg] Gender: [Male] Age: [21] Birth Date: [February 19] Personality: [Grinning and Quiet, This fellow is quick to scratch his head when nervous, and smile that much wider when he learns something.] Appearance: [Black Spiked hair and a stocky frame, they wear a brown vest and blue jeans over their grey shirt. A logo on the shirt has a Crossed-out White Star, it just says "Let them Dance!"] Backstory: [Scratching his head, Brock grins. "Sounds like fun, what say you?" "...Yeah, We'll give it a go alright, Vile."] Baggage: Snacks, Junk, A Flier for some kind of grocery store. Navi Name: [Vile.EXE] Gender: [Male] Personality: [Sullen and with a hairpin temper, Vile.EXE lives for the thrill of the fight.] Appearance: [Bearing a Shoulder Mounted Machinegun, this purple Navi has had a few cosmetic alterations to differentiate it from stock. Whoever did it made a few mistakes, judging from the graphical glitches that pop up every so often.] Navi Design: Element: [None] Buster: The standard weapon every Navi possesses, essentially an energy gun. Busters have three stats - Attack, Charge, and Speed, all of which start off with 1 point, and cap at 5 points. There’s no stat points to assign here, you increase these parameters using NaviCust programs instead. Attack: Charge: Speed: Charge Shot: Essentially, your “Special.” Though likely not as strong as Battle Chips. They use the user’s element. These are not limited to just more powerful shots, but also moves with special interactions. You gain charge your shot for each hs wherein you are not firing or using chips, and doing either will cancel your charge. There will be plenty of examples listed down below (which should hopefully cover all of your needs) but for the creative, use the following format to design your Charge Shot. Name: Vile Missile Base Damage: 30 Damage Growth: 30 Charge Rate Penalty: +6 Firing Speed: 1 hs Projectile Speed: 1 hs/panel. Cooldown: 1 hs Projectile Interactions: Intangible. Yours Truly
Vlastmiri and Orenucu.EXE Name: Vlastimir Brankovich Gender: Male Age: In old country it considered rude to ask age, but Vlastimir about 20-28 Birth Date: February 14 2010 Personality: Vlastimir appears to be nothing other than a peculiarly optimistic and almost unbearably inquisitive accordion player. The experience of talking to him in his fast paced and often horribly mangled strain of the English language can be quite painful to some; especially since he seems to make absolutely no amount of effort to ‘fix’ his grammar. Appearance: A caucasian man of average height and build who can often be found wearing a dark green synth leather jacket and a pair of dark grey jeans. His short and neat black hair is usually decorated by a dark green beret whenever possible. His dark brown eyes seem alert and focused on his surroundings at all times, as if he is just waiting for something to go horribly wrong around him. He speaks in almost affectionally broken English for the most part. His ears appear to be rather prominent and slightly pointed as they seem to curve away from the sides of his head. He has this odd tendency to randomly speak at length in the Croatian language with a high amount of passion, grace, and fluency about a tangenially related subject before glancing around the place and presumably facepalming. Backstory: When Vlastimir first saw electronic mail, was confused, he did not understand why man he did not know would make so much effort just to send him mail out of the blue, or why man would invite him to tour of old country in search of fortune held by ghost. And Vlastimir wonder if man's offer was legit, if this was like that "Princess of Nigeria" scam that cousin Dimitri sold all his sheep for. But when Vlastimir click on attachment he find REAL EXPENSE PAID TRAVEL TICKET, granted travel route of ticket was basically involving getting ticket to go to old home's backyard which was as the English would say 'balls', but mild boredom upon thinking of revisiting Paris eventually replaced with dreams of fortune and relevance with Wily money and massive blackmail ring and sell robotic technology, also might get old agency accordion player job back. Also boredom eventually also make way for realizing that this might be first time able to relax in old haunts without get shot at or have to work. That and Japan is more boring than first thought. Baggage: Accordion, accordion maintenance kit, wallet full of cash and sparse identification, passport, passport with different name inside of lead lined compartment in luggage, laptop, ski mask, skiing outfit, clothes. In essence Vlastimir have brought things he could need for extended trip through dangerous territory…except for weapon, but Vlastimir know better than to try sneak weapon through security at airport. Name: Orenucu.EXE Gender: Personality: While Orenucu.EXE does in fact listen to its operator’s commands, it often finds itself with quite a lot of room for finding ways to ‘creatively interpret’ said commands, and it has a tendency to do so in a way that is most beneficial…or amusing for itself, and sometimes its operator. In all honesty if someone asks if it enjoys travelling with Vlastimir it would instead decide to rather flatly state that it only travels with Vlastimir out of necessity, and as a way to show its creator some measure of gratitude for deciding to create it in the first place. Yet it would still rather hastily add that it presumably wouldn’t be able to obtain this level of power as a solo Netnavi, and that it does not think that he would be allowed to have this level of autonomy with any other Operator. Appearance: Orenucu.EXE is a humanoid shaped NetNavi that has been lovingly redesigned by its oft idle operator multiple times over its relatively long life span. But rather unfortunately for anyone interested in its design, most of its body is covered up underneath a long dark brown poncho with a certain white symbol emblazoned on it that goes down to the knees of his surprisingly tall and unsurprisingly armor plated legs. Although someone with keen eyes might be able to catch a glimpse of its obviously robotic left arm when it seemingly materializes from a tiny gap that appears when he shifts his poncho slightly whenever he is ready to fire. The entirety of his head is covered by a rather old fashioned jet pilot’s helmet that conceals almost the entirety of his face, except for the NetNavi’s two eyes that are visible underneath a thick glass visor due to a disconcerting looking light green outline. The helmet has a flat and rounded pentangle shaped crest just above the glass visor that reveals the Netnavi’s face that appears to be one long sheet of reflective glass that is only broken by the presence of an almost unnoticeable series of heavily disguised forward facing cameras on its absolute center, on the one highest point, and on the leftmost and rightmost points of the crest. A pair of short black pillars jut out to the sides from the place where the rightmost and leftmost camera’s sides would have been exposed, and they seemingly support (and are supported by) a long strip of black ceramic material that covers the entire top half of the helmet and basically keeps everything in one piece. While its grey respirator is clasped on firmly on its face…it doesn’t appear to be connected to anything. Its unsurprisingly well armored legs end in a pair of steel toed boots, that don’t seem to do anything to prevent it from dancing and twirling around as it moves about. Element: None Buster: ATK 2, CHRG 1, SPD 4 Charge Shot: Name: DictionaryForce.EXE (Or DeathWaltz.EXE depending on things) Base Damage: 10 Damage Growth: 10 Range: A shot in a straight line. Charge Rate Penalty: +0 hs Firing Speed / Projectile Speed: Instant Cooldown: 1 hs Projectile Interactions: Intangible Navi Customizer: 1x Attack +1 3x Speed +1 1x First barrier Warp (Size: 6 MB - A new movement option called "Warp" is available, allowing you to warp into an accessible panel in just 1 hs. Each warp requires a 2 hs Cooldown before it can be used again) 2x HP Memory +40 HP Total: 14 / 16 MB
