Sure, it has troll capabilities, but it's truly not that bad. From what I gather, he's meant to be a support, and that ability can be really useful for saving an adc from a rather risky play. Not to mention the ally can choose when to get out.

I can imagine he's meant to be more of a tanky support. While his melee attacking would make Relic Shield an optimal start, I'm guessing he'd probably rather have talisman for escape and catch potential combined with his W. Additionally, Righteous Glory and Randuins Omen will probably be optimal; Righteous Glory for the pick potential and the health scaling passively with his ult; and Randuin's Omen for the additional pick potential, allowing him to stick to his enemies to apply stacks of his passive, nice resistances, and the health to scale with his ult. Also add the obligator Mobi/Lucidity Boots and a Sightstone/Ruby Sightstone, and you're left with one item slot that I would probably use for a Locket of the Iron Solari.

It looks as if his ult also has enough range to go from top to mid in the video, so I can imagine his mid roam potential with his adc after picking off the bot lane is impeccable, as well as being able to get to global objectives faster with an ally. In my opinion, his E is very necessary considering he does have to get relatively close to his lane opponents to apply stacks of his passive for the stun. Hs extreme bulk will allow him to be a nuisance in team fights while still being able to apply passive stacks where necessary. Although he could probably succeed top lane, or even possibly the jungle, I feel as if he just has a lot of synergy with high cc comps, so leaving top and jungle to high cc champions such as Gnar and Sejuani is just more useful. Very eager to try him out on the PBE when I can.

ZenonTheStoic has noted that Tahm Kench can not use Teleport or Flash while there's someone in his belly. In addition, he may not use Thresh's Lantern, and Kalista can not cast Fate's Call on him.

Unrelated note, there's only one skin (other than Tahm Kench's) on the PBE this patch:

And the PBE is currently having issues with connecting to the loading screen, and because of that, the game. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how he feels (or how he feels as the ADC) until it's fixed.

I can! Wahahahaha! The connection dilemma reduced it to four a side (we lost jungler, they lost top), but with a 2v2 bot lane it worked out like a normal game for me in the end.

Although one game supporting as Tahm Kench is definitely not going to tell the whole story about the champion, playing him felt really solid as a tank. It was me and a Lucian against Varus/Leona, and Tahm Kench's tankiness thanks to his E (along with the ability to shelter Lucian) was incredibly pivotal in winning the lane and surviving pre-6. Did like no damage, but it was really more about keeping Lucian safe from Leona than anything because Lucian couldn't farm very well; might as well let him keep farming to try to catch up.

Then at level 6 I took Lucian mid and we FB'd the overextended Xerath. The game was pretty much over at that point because Ekko and Lucian both got rolling off of that kill (which went to Lucian).

Only thing I didn't do as Tahm Kench was devour one of the enemy Champions, since I focused that on saving/transporting my allies. The next game I get as TK, I'll try to eat up more enemies.

Well aren't you special :c

When the connection issues are resolved, I'd really like to try a Smite/TP top lane Tahm with cinderhulk because I feel the bonus health would fit him very nicely.

I actually saw someone do that in a game. While we won that game, that guy was absurdly tanky, and the shields he got were insane. I honestly think it works rather well for him. One game probably isn't enough to say for sure, but I'll mess around with it and see how it goes.

Until a jungler realizes he has Smite/TP with no escapes and camps him for the entirety of laning phase

Nas, Fizz doesn't even belong on the __same page__ as "no escapes" >_>

never said he didn't have an escape. I'm more talking about junglers camping when you have smite tp. When playful/trickster and sea urchin strike aren't enough to get away. I know limitations, for it has happened to me.
