The Fush Posted December 2, 2012 Share Posted December 2, 2012 So there's something that's been bothering me for quite a while now, and it's got to the point where my SCHOOL, which is the epitome of CoD only (somebody pass me a wrench), is getting infected by it's community. I'm talking about the brony community. What are your opinions on it? It's actually starting to get rather bothersome to me. To me, disregarding the fact that this show is being watched by an odd audience, it's starting to irritate me. I don't watch the show, but some of my friends are bronies, and through them and tidbits I notice on the internet, I've started to see the community as a split. To me, there are two types of bronies: First of all, the typical ones who mention it at every possible moment and will not shut up about "how much they adore Pinkie Pie", etc etc. They are irritating as hell and will take major offense if me or some other reasonable person say even one thing about how they talk about it too much. They are EVERYWHERE on the internet, but thankfully not that I've noticed any such bronies in real life. I wish somebody would just silence them, for god's sake. Then there's the minority of bronies, who are reasonable, only discuss it with each other and barely mention it to us, well, 'not bronies'. They know how it gets irritating when talked about too much, and steer it away from the main topic of discussion. These are what my brony friends are like in real life, and what a few of them on the internet are like too. It's sad that there are so few of them, because the majority of that community gets my piss into a boil. So yeah, what's your opinion on them? He never stops talking about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Sure, it was OK at first, seeing as I was (and still am) a Sailor Moon fan. I understood what it was like to enjoy watching a show whose target audience is mainly female. However, it soon came to me that being a brony wasn't just a symbol of his preference of television programming: It became his lifestyle. He considered himself above all others because he was a brony, bashing all the "haters" whenever possible and even going to the point of trolling those people for "personal fulfillment". Tbh, I find those kinds of bronies rather hypocritical, seeing as they have a policy to "Love and Tolerate" all, judging by what I've seen. The show's actually pretty good, but the problem with bronies like these is simply the fact that they consider themselves superior to non-bronies just because they just so happen to like a TV show the latter party doesn't. I just don't really care what they do, what they like, what they watch as long as they don't shove it in my face and make me try to be like them. They can do whatever makes them feel happy and whatever lets them sleep at night as long as it sticks to themselves. Prime example: some of my friends are hardcore bronies and love that show, they talk about it all the time and wear shirts and stuff. Last school year they thought it would be funny to continuously call me a closet brony even though I told them I didn't watch the show nor did I care to because I didn't want to. It ended up pissing me off a lot because they would continuously call me it and the name spread a bit further. So I got pissed at them and they stopped. This kind of thing is something I hate where they push their beliefs onto you and attempt to change you, and it's something I'm not okay with. This probably got off topic somewhere, oh well. tl;dr : Don't really care, they can like what they want and all that as long as they don't push what they like onto others at every step of the way. It doesn't help that they don't no to talk about the show. One even had the audacity to interrupt my Professor with it. Meanwhile, there's me. Sitting there quietly hardly ever bringing up the show. The show itself is meh as all fuck from a critic's standpoint and I lost interest mid season 2. Once I found actual pornography of this show, I immediately quit. Tldr: the show itself is fine, it's just not for me. But when they start getting to the point where they annouce it very opporunity, yeah. It does annoy me. It's like disregarding the "Friendship is Magic" theme. Personally, i don't really have anything against MLP, however, a lot of the fanbase is annoying. Of course, there are exceptions, the bronies of Reborn are cool people. C: I mean, there are worse fanbases out there... Just look at Fairy Tail, most of em make me ashamed to like the same thing they do.
