Immanuel, deciding that not dying horribly is the better part of valor, decides to turn around and charge the hell out of the nearest window with the newcomer in tow while yelling, "COME WITH ME UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET BLOWN UP," with him hopefully managing to grab or convince the man to fly out of the building, upon which he will swoop down to find a safe place to drop the newcomer if they allowed him to pick them up, or a place where he can take potshots at the sniper if he didn't, "EVERYONE! TOR JUST DISAPPEARED SOMEWHERE AND I AM CURRENTLY ENGAGING A SUPER POWERED SNIPER WITH THE HELP OF A MAN WHOSE NAME I SHOULD REALLY ASK FOR, AND CAN SOMEONE ELSE ENCHANT HIM TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE GASHADOKURO BEFORE HE BUMPS INTO IT BY ACCIDENT? THANK YOU." 

Assuming the man's still with him, he will take a moment to say, "The name's Immanuel, sorry for man handling you earlier but the sniper just marked that entire building for bombardment by a giant skeleton monster that detects blood," before he heads off somewhere.

"Oh, come on!" Marina grew frustrated. Just when she was about to resolve the issue at hand with more bursts, she heard her uncle's request. She unleashed scattered bursts at the supposed squad leader in an attempt to knock him away, or at least, dazzle him so that he misses his mark. She then flew away from the subfort in a zigzag.

After distancing herself from the subfort, she swiped a finger across the skies.

 

"Everyone, wish upon the shooting star!" She yelled into the communicator. Shortly after, a bright shooting star appeared out of nowhere and followed the line she drew, curving slightly downwards and circling over the fortress at high speed.

Owen ducked out of the building with armored man slid to a stop at the same cover.  He noticed the vials but decided they weren't worth the risk.  He turned to reply to "Immanuel".

"I'm Owen, now tell me just why the hell you thought it was a good idea to pick a one on one fight with god-damned Cu Chulainn?"

Owen paused for a split second to look up at the glowing streak that just appeared in the sky.  He really wished he could see where that bastard went and what was going on with this place.

"And don't get hit by the rifle if you value you life, not even a graze."

Chise doesn't exactly look at Sasha, just speaking without looking at her.

 

"I BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD UNSEAL ME. THE LETTER I CAME WITH LIKELY HAD INSTRUCTIONS."

While Sasha was going around in her infiltration route, Immanuel seemed to have gotten himself into quite the mess. As she thought about what actions to take next, her attention was grabbed by Chise's remark.

"Unseal you huh? If I knew how that would be great. As for a letter...oh yeah, there was one," Sasha remarked, recalling the rather brief message on there. "I don't recall much being on the letter though. All it said was 'Hope you enjoy'," Sasha remarked in an dry tone before recalling something else about the letter, something she had asked about. "Oh wait, there was something else written there too. Squeamish Ossifrage if I recall correctly. Does that mean anything to you?" She asks, hoping it leads to something useful.

"UNDERSTOOD." 

 

It occurs that it was probably not intended for Chise to be able to get authorization to unseal herself like that.

 

On the other hand, it was also probably not intended for her handler to have no idea what the hell they were getting themselves into, so... well, start as you would carry on, really.

 

 "Unlocking the Gate of Order. Disengaging Solomon-Seimei Nexus. Unveiling the Third Eye. Disengaging Hyperspatial Quarantine Loops. Unsealing Spirit Energy Containment Matrix 3... 2... 1."

 

The buckles that cover Chises body begin to open, the lengths of leather unwinding themselves from around her, quietly hissing away into black smoke as they spiral outward, revealing...

 

Well, honestly at first Chise isn't exactly impressive. She looks... human, for the most part, other than the utter lack of any sort of body features, looking distinctly like something a mangaka would include when they want to have naked women in their release without technically having to include anything that might be considered obscene.

 

She looks to the sky, focusing on the star that was arcing high above them, and makes a Wish.

So the squad leader rushes at Marina ready to pound away her attacks with its fists of fury. Unfortunately for them, she wasn't using projectiles this time. Nope, condensed concussive blasts, can't Jojo your way out of that, bitch. Speaking of things these punk ass bitches can't do, Marina just fucking flies away. Motherfucker can jump, but they can't fly, and with their charge halted, there's honestly not much they can do except fire on her as she leaves, not that it does much. Still they at least did something, the only thing the other squad managed to do in this time was burn to death by deciding to just stand there and do nothing.

 

Marina reaches into the false sky, and with a swipe of her fingers divides the clouded skies with a streak of light.

There is a thunderous rumble and then a flash of light. A synchronized bombardment. For a brief moment, the building was illuminated by flames and shrapnel. And then it crumbles. Out from the blast, eclipsing the moon, Immanuel flies into the night sky holding Owen in a bridal carry. Owen wishes to be able to see, to see this adversary and the fortress that they control. A pair of glasses appears on him in a puff of smoke, yellow-rimmed with red hearts near the hinges. Though the lens he can see it now, the true extent of the fortress, a fractal spider's web of bone that envelops the subfortifications, tethering them to the surrounding buildings. He can see the bone spikes that erupted from where the vials shattered upon an enormous bony tendril, and of course, he can see the one who did it, vaguely right now, the glasses not strong enough to pierce his cloak completely, but enough to narrow down the possibilities.

 

Immanuel meanwhile wishes for speed, enough speed to dodge bullets; he gets a clear snaplock bag marked with a heart and filled with white powder.

 

As the situation has become a little more complicated and the team in a need of a little more firepower, Chise gets naked. Wait were those two thoughts supposed to be related? Anyway, after filling Sasha up unprotected with her essence and probably committing public indecency in the process, Chise notices that both her and Sasha's wishes for stealth have fizzled. Also that her twisted Sanctuary has become tempered with envelopes sealed with pink hearts, sorta like love letters but filled with Totally Not Anthrax rather than Probably Not Herpes. Oh also, that the eight exoskeleton-clad bastards in the Sanctuary also noticed the energy spike and are fanning out to investigate, y'know, like the dipshits in a horror movie? Sasha can hit them from here. Chise too.

 

Cu's cloak finally wears off and y'all finally get good look at the guy. Slight problem though - the guy ain't Cu. Got all the powers and properties of Cu, but it isn't him. See, Cu's a handsome boy that died young, well as handsome as seven-pupiled guy with frosted tips could be at least. What you're staring down now, rifle and shield in their hands, sword and handgun at the hip, is not that. The face peering at you is wizened with age and framed by hair colored white with age. The figure you are staring down does not take the form of a boy, they take the form of Secretary of Defense James Norman Mattis.

 

Also he's firing a whole load of bullets at Immanuel and Owen while charging along a walkway towards the subfort Marina attacked.

 

Everyone hears a terrible ringing in their ears.

Unsealing Chise broke Sasha and Chise's cloaking and alerted nearby enemies, but they only know the position of the energy spike not who caused it.

Immanuel decided to do a series of comparatively sensible things as he replied to Owen's questions, "Who is Choo Choo Lame again? The name doesn't ring a bell, but anyway hold on, I'll try and find a safeish place to drop you off at before he can shoot us out of the sky" he then covered himself in whatever this magical white powder is and attempted to dodge bullets and find a safe place to drop Owen off, while also taking potshots at the secretary of defense with his shoulder mounted railguns and the usual stream of plasma.

"Huh. They... can't fly. What was I expecting, hahaha... " Marina laughed to herself as she looked at the subfort from a safe distance. The ringing was getting on her nerves again, though. And with the old secretary's approach, and her previous experience with the ringing, she could only come up with one guess. "Hey, that's the big guy!" She swiped her fingers down at the secretary of defense, redirecting the Shooting Star strafing around the fortress downwards and intercepting his approach through the walkway. She would add more fireballs to the attack as necessary.

Eight enemies inside the fort. Unfortunately for them, they were already within the range of her Invasion. 

 

She reaches out, and creates a tiny sphere of plasma where the seals placed over their faces were, aiming less to kill them so much as to ruin the carefully planned seals they used to prevent their own base from murdering them. Then she turns her attention to the shrine they were guarding, building up a charge of energy inside it until she gathered enough power to detonate it from the inside.

 

She also directs Invasion to attempt to spread through the Heirophant Gash

"Well this is certainly something," Sasha muttered, rather surprised that the words on that letter led to this situation. She made a mental note of it for the future, since it could be useful, but then focuses her attention to the battle at hand. It seems the wish for stealth had passed, but the mononoke hadn't quite noticed them yet. Nor had anyone else, the newly revealed sniper included. And for the moment, Sasha was going to try and keep it that way for a little while longer at least, steering the pair out of immediate sight of anyone, but not out of range for Chise to do her thing.

With that Owen overcharged the electrical field around his body and jumped out of Immanuel's arms onto the nearest tendril leading towards Cu.  His plan was to charge the guy going from cover to cover and hoping his energy caught any stray bullets.

Aight so Immanuel immediately douses himself with what may or may not be cocaine, swooping low as Owen launched down into cover. Ivory rounds tear through the air, drawing awfully close but never too close thanks to Marina's boost and covering fire. So Owen starts closing in on the intercept, just fucking praying that a bullet won't find its mark - he's not entirely convinced his field will destroy the entire bullet in time and really, finding out how much damage a burnt sliver will do ain't something he plans on doing today. Unfortunately, as he draws close, Cu just, fucking swan dives off the tendril as railgun fire tears through the air.

 

The entire fortress begins to shudder, tendrils coiling inwards and coalescing. At the center of the web a great skull forms, radiating massive amounts of kegare. Teeth chattering in anticipation it turns its empty sockets... right the fuck away from y'all.

 

See uh, aside from Owen's tendril spiralling inwards towards the forming skeleton, which okay yeah, is something that needs rectifying but not too bad in the grand scheme of things, the skeleton doesn't really seem to really do anything to you. That's because it's not looking at you, it's looking at Chise.

 

Chise, the good news is that you basically immediately kill the entire squad by blasting off their face talismans and convincing their exoskeletons to devour the nice tasty treat inside them while you begin to ready the pillar for detonation. The bad news is, as Sasha flies you away, the entire fortress just fucking starts shifting and staring at your little Invasion foothold. Countless grasping limbs of bone explode out from the fortification's cocoon, discharging disastrous energy, really just everywhere. Some of the hands close into fists which in turn shift into skulls. The hands sweep towards you and fire again, this time aiming right for you and Sasha. Fort Jackass is resisting you, but it won't be able to stave off your infection forever.

Meanwhile, Chise begins to conjure waves of plasma, angled more to deflect the incoming blasts than fully guard against them. With luck, the enemy would assume the beast would handle them just fine and not bother them directly.

"You and your ugly fortress can go burn in hell!" Marina raised her right hand up high, pointing to the sky. "Meteor Shower!" Multiple wormholes opened up, and then, countless meteors rained upon the fortress, pounding the lesser subforts, the forming skull, and Cu. For some reasons, she could feel the content of Aetherbell's card - it's been shaking ever since she got here, and so, she decided to take advantage of it, by channeling its power and unleashing it on top of her glorious barrage.

Seeing that the stars were falling again, Chise makes another wish, this one more focused, to increase the virulence of Infection against the skeletal creature that was forming, this amalgam of imperfect souls.

Owen glanced up at the sudden meteor shower, these people really were something.  Then without skipping a step he followed the Cu impostor's lead and made a swan dive off the tendril he was on.  Using his powers to slingshot himself forward and prevent himself from going splat while praying he didn't get hit by Cu's bullets, the tendrils, or otherwise.

 

6 for the round, wishes for not getting hit, and a 3 for "Ride the Lightning" to fly after Cu.

"On it then," Sasha replies as she continues her evasive maneuvers, keeping an eye on her surroundings in case something came by that she had to deal with. Upon seeing the meteor storm, Sasha decides to wish for true sight to allow her to see everything around her, normally visible or no.

Immanuel quickly forms another railgun as he dives right in through the tendril and attempts to catch Cu off guard and box the man in with rapid fire plasma shots that he sure as hell wishes was even faster and more powerful than ever before.

First thing's first, the air beneath Marina's feet seems to ripple, as if she was floating above the surface of a great lake and someone just dropped a stone into it, which for anyone viewing the scene from above, honestly looks like the case. See, from Marina's perspective, she doesn't see shit. There's no giant angry skeleton, no nightbound city. No, oh no, what she sees as she casts her spell is a great lake stretching out to infinity, the bed beneath littered with countless weapons. Lit up kinda like as if by cherenkov radiation, albeit a ghostlier paler light. The ripples trace a great magic circle beneath her feet, and into the depths she plunges.

 

From an outsider's perspective it looks like a ball of water just rose out of nowhere to consume her, her clothing beginning to give off this corona of phantasmal radiance that roils and mixes with the water, the whole orb exploding outwards to reveal a gravity-defying mage's cloak that flowed like water. More ripples trace in the air around her. Unfortunately, nothing really magical comes out of them save for a couple big rocks. A couple big rocks screeching downwards at willy-shrivellingly high speeds.

 

As these meteors just crash fucking everywhere, Owen swings under his platform and kicks off, a surge of electricity crackling behind him as he basically just fucking fires himself at Cu. Fragarach is reacting again. It's resonating with Marina's magic somehow, the blade humming with frantic energy as he makes his wish. First comes the howling gale, next come the black clouds, a miniature tempest that encircles Owen, providing him with an oh so convenient ring of electrically charged storm clouds with disproportionately powerful magnetic fields, just begging to be used. He's a feeling he'll need it - Fort Jackass' lower body has yet to form, meaning there's still a bone canopy blocking all the artillery support for now. 

 

Immanuel meanwhile is rushing down from the other side of Cu. Around both his gauntlets are now garishly pink friendship bracelets, which if his wish is anything to go by, have something quite different to friendship in mind. Summoning another railgun he blasts his mark with a steady stream of plasma from behind. Cu manages to swing his shield around at the last possible moment, blocking the stream as the trio land on the ground. With the metal quickly heating up and no doubt about to melt into a hot sticky mess, it's quite clear this defense won't last, something that Cu seems acutely aware of given that he opts to just hurl it at Immanuel and leap backwards, readying his rifle to put a round into Immanuel as he reacts to the hurl. Owen notes that while he's not getting targeted right now, Cu's kinda giving him the stinkeye right now and probably won't have any qualms about trying to skewer him with the barrel of a rifle when he makes his move. Immanuel meanwhile realizes that A: Cu's hands should've gotten scalded by that near-molten shield, and that B: the fact that he hasn't is probably related to how his infrascan is indicating the temperature of the guy and his surroundings is rising at a fairly alarming rate.

 

Meanwhile back in the skies, Chise and Sasha now have to contend with well, the entire subfortress. Apparently after they managed to grazed through the flurry of kegare bolts and continued to spread the infection through Chise's new and improved magical envelopes of horrible Aramitama STIs, Fort Jackass just decided "fuck it" and fucking severed the infected tendril holding the subfort before hurling it at the pair. By Chise's estimates, it's probably going to explode in an enormous blast real soon. Which would probably be a lot more threatening against something that can't just devour half the damn tendril before it gets a chance to go boom. Oh also Sasha's got cutesy glasses like Owen now too. That's a thing.

 

Also, having taken quite a pounding from Marina, Fort Jackass decides to focus on her for now, that awful ringing filling her ears as the giant skeleton with its and noticeably dented subfortresses clenching a massive fist and going for a vicious punch to the face. it's, a lot more threatening than it sounds considering that its fist is the size of a house, wreathed in an immense amount of energy, and just exploding towards her at high speeds. This is gonna be a close one.

"Incredible... I have a magical girl transformation now!" Marina yelled in excitement. She then took a look at the fortress' new attack - A loaded, yet plain and boring punch. Not even worth an epic clash over. "Let's try this, then..."

 

She wished to warp right behind the fortress. Something she'd normally be unable to attempt, she decided to take her chances with her newfound powers. As she warped into position, she pumped herself up with even more firepower, before firing a lustrous beam of destruction through the skeleton's chest.

Immanuel reacts to the hurled metal by quickly popping a smoke grenade at his current position and dashing down through the tendrils attempting to get Cu to waste his time by aiming at what he assumes would be his current position before he dashes out of the tendril for long enough to chuck an alchemical flashbang to mask the presence of a railgun turret being set up, before he overcharges his plasma gauntlet's and escapes from the insides of the tendrils for just long enough to box Cu and hopefully distract them with an eerily accurate barrage of twice empowered plasma shots to allow Owen to get into position, and the railgun turret to do it's thing as he dashed throughout the air to make the mere act of firing at Immanuel and his quickly generated shields as annoying as humanly possible.

 

If Cu manages to clip Immanuel anyway, he will instead react by chucking an alchemical flashbang at the bastard's position, and attempting to use his mobility boost to allow himself to pepper the man with plasma gauntlet shots and box them somewhere an overdose grenade would actually take effect.

 

Alteration to 6, if Cu doesn't hit, burn Resolve like a mad man to activate Arcane Infusion: Mobilität+ [4], Arcane Infusion: Leistungsverstärker [5], Arcane Infusion: Kanonenplatzierung [5].

Chise could just consume the bits of skeleton being thrown at her.

But that wasn't good enough for her. Instead, her mouth opens and she lets out what sounds like the kind of noise an old modem would make, were it significantly louder and also angrier.

 

This carried instructions. They were rather long, honestly, but they basically boiled down to three tenants.

 

1. Reconfigure yourself into a form designed to perform the following tasks.

2. anchor yourself inside Fort Jackass and attempt to tear your way as deep as possible inside it.

3. CONSUME.

 

Meanwhile, Invasion would continue to gather more and more of Fort Jackass' own flesh to add to the pile, and Chise would manifest hooks and belts out of the mass to help it tear its way forward.

While Chise was doing her own thing to deal with the mass of fort heading their way, Sasha's mind went back to the one relic thing the pair found earlier. Considering it had been some time since, and given the transpiring events, now seemed as good a time as any to start.
