What is Mafia(Credits to Dive)

A simple overview of how the usual games are played for new peeps But there will be a different twist in this format but keep it in mind for now.

 

Mafia is a social deduction game which requires analyzing, cooperation, and looking through lies. There are two main factions in a mafia game: the Uninformed Majority [Town], who have to find others of their kind while hunting for the mafia, and the Informed Minority [Mafia], who have a private chat and plan there on how they should trick the town and whom they should kill. There may also be Third Party or Independent roles, which have different agendas and win conditions. 

 

At the beginning of the game, players receive a PM or a DM (in some cases) with their role and alignment.

There are two major phases in a Mafia game:

(1) The Day Phase – Typically lasting 48 hours, players use this opportunity to discuss about several things, which may include the outcome of the previous phases, behavior of players, and flow of the game; the ultimate goal in the day phase is for the Town players to find the Mafia slowly while Mafia players have to blend in carefully. Before the day ends, players must vote for a player whom they want to be eliminated on grounds of suspicion and the player receiving the most votes will be eliminated.

(2) The Night Phase – Typically lasting 24 hours, the thread is considered “locked” at this point and players may not comment at all. Instead, players with night actions, special abilities related to their role, may use these to aid their faction. The Mafia also discusses in the private chat on whom to dispose of.

The game continues until one of the major factions attains their win condition or unless it is no longer possible

Its that time of the year for both old and new members to gather... but what's this it seems trouble is brewing!?

 

Game Mechanics:

- Most roles are distributed between factions. This means that roles are not alignment-indicative.
-Abstaining is allowed. 

- Majority (Half + 1) of the players alive must go for a lynch in order for one to happen. The player who gets lynched is the one who earns the most votes.

- A no lynch will ensue if 

(1) majority of the players opt for a no lynch and 
(2) a tie in votes occurs. Specific abilities may overrule this.

 

- It is possible for certain roles placed in the pool to not exist in the game depending on player count and RNG.
- Duplicates of a role may or may not exist.
- The Dead Players' Chat will not contain any game information.

- There is a possibility of having glitched roles. [Details explained in a specific section]
- The number of players in a faction and the number of factions is not revealed. Other game information may be hidden by the host. HeHeHeHeHe

- The game may start on Day Zero, Night Zero, or Day One, depending on RNG. Each game start will have different implications.

 

 

Possible factions:

Trolls:

They are one of the possible Mafia factions. They start as a group and have a private group chat. They share a factional night kill on odd nights. They will select among them on who performs the kill. This player will not be able to perform active abilities. Their goal is to outnumber or equal the total number of hackers and users.

 

Hackers:

They are one of the possible Mafia factions. They do not start as a team and are not informed of the identities of their team mates. Their factional night kill is rotational and one of them will be assigned killing duty each night, but will not be hindered from performing an active action. If a hacker visits a fellow hacker, they will share a factional chat instead of executing the player. Their goal is to outnumber the total amount of trolls and users.

 

Users:

They are the Uninformed Majority. They are the local users who use their votes and voices to find the evils in the Internet. Their goal is to eliminate the hackers and the trolls.

Lurkers:

They are a possible Independents faction. They share a chat; however, they have different objectives based on their role. It is up to them whether or not they would reveal their role and goal to each other. Win conditions may range from win with a specific faction, kill a specific player, and/or other goals.

 

For the veterans:

rest assured there are no cults in this one.

 

Roles:

Glitched Roles: 

  Reveal hidden contents

These roles have effects that will diverge from what is indicated in the Roles List. Only players with glitched roles will be informed if their role is glitched and its specific effects. Upon investigation from other roles, they will appear as normal roles. Glitched roles may involve having inverse effects, irrelevant effects, weaker abilities, and other forms of alterations.

 

Normal Roles:

1. System Admin - 
Every night, the System Admin investigates someone and determines whether or not they are a normal user. The System Admin will only determine that a Troll is not a normal user during Odd Nights, when they are active. [User-exclusive Role; however, being a Glitched Role will not guarantee this]

2. Moderator - 
Every night, the Moderator protects someone from being nightkilled. [User-exclusive Role; however, being a Glitched Role will not guarantee this]

3. Basement Dweller - 
If a Hacker attacks the Basement Dweller, they will be eliminated. [Guaranteed non-Hacker]

 

4.White Knight - 
If a Troll attacks the White Knight, they will be eliminated. [Guaranteed non-Troll]

 

5. EfViiAyy - 
EfViiAyy's vote value is 2. Once in the game, they may reveal themselves and end the day phase prematurely; whomever they vote will be the lynched player. If they are already revealed, they may break ties and choose either to be lynched.

 

6. Web Surfer - 
The Web Server is in the dead chat and may speak with the dead.

 

7. Search Bot - 
The Search Bot may visit someone at night and will know who visited said player.

 

8. Keyboard Warrior - 
It is impossible for the player who has this role to win. They may target another player at night and swap roles, but not alignment or win condition. [Starts as a Lurker-exclusive Role; however, being a Glitched Role will not guarantee this]

9. System32 -
If the System32 gets killed, all normal roles will glitch and all glitching roles will turn to normal. Reverts condition if revived.

 

10. Necro-Poster - 
Once in the game at night, the Necro-Poster can chose to revive someone who died. They will be revived in the succeeding day.

 

11. Tunneler - 
The Tunneler can choose someone once a game during the day or night. They will share a private chat with them, which will remain indefinitely.

 

12. Dolan - 
Dolan can guess the role of someone during the day or night. If guessed correctly, the targeted player will die. If guessed incorrectly, Dolan will die. It is unnecessary to guess if a player is glitched or not.

 

13.Annoying Pop-Up - 
The Annoying Pop-Up can visit someone during the day and block them from performing any night actions. 

14.Carl - 
Carl starts the game with a gun.

 

15. Moon Moon - 
Moon Moon can target someone at night and will be informed of what they are not. (i.e Divergent is not Carl.)

 

16. Illuminaughty -

Illiminaughty can choose someone and all night actions and kill targeted to them will be nullified.

 

17.A *****ian Prince - 
The [Redacted] Prince carries three mystery gifts - a real gun, a real vest, and a bomb that detonates on contact. One gift may be given at night. Recipients of a gift may choose to open the gift or not. The [Redacted] Prince cannot open the gifts himself.

 

18. Shitposter - 
The Shitposters has an extra life.

 

 

 

Rules

  Reveal hidden contents

(1) The Reborn Forum rules apply here.

(2) All Player Discussion must be kept in the thread; mandated special private chats may also be utilized. Other forms of contact outside of these such as Private Chats without the Host’s permission, IRL contact, and other methods are not allowed.

(3) Day Phase lasts for 48 hours. Players must make at least 2 posts and vote per day phase. Failure to meet this requirement for two day phases (even non consecutive) will result in replacement or mod intervention.

(4) Voting is done in the format: [Eliminate] Player Name or in similar formats. Changing of votes may be done in this format: [Unvote] Player Name. All votes must be placed in bold or they are not counted. You can simply say [abstain] if you want to abstain.

(5) Night Phase lasts for 24 hours. Players are not allowed to comment in the thread. Violation of this rule will result in warning (1st offence) and disqualification (2nd offence).

(6) Sharing of Role PMs – through screenshots, verbatim copying, or other forms – to other players is illegal. Consequences will be given to violators.

(7) You aren't allowed to have a final post because you can be revived!

(8) Actions – day or night – should be sent to me via PM (Forums) or DM (Discord).

(9) Editing of posts is discouraged. If you have minor corrections, you may do so, but if you wish to have additions, you must make a new post or quote your previous post if you wish to highlight the addition.

(10) Respect the host and other players! Have fun!

 

Hints

To give a hint on what to expect from glitch roles lets look at moon moon. In a usual game its effect should be straightforward telling you what the target's role is but in this case its doing the same thing in a very round about manner. Normally i would put that into the glitch pool but I put that as the normal version so you guys have an idea on what to expect among the other glitches.

 

To give a hint on some things I might not reveal... let's see... ugh if you ask me something in pm and i answered that, then you asked me again in the thread just to give confirmation... I won't answer. Tis upto you how you will use that to your (dis)advantage. Again, there are other things I won't reveal
