Fox loses to Luigi bad... Like really bad... 70:30

Falcon beats fox ~60:40 IMO. Fox can be easy for falcon to read, gimp, and kill. Fox is also a fast faller which makes him easy to combo despite his size. Fox and Mac players hafta practice special techniques to get out of certain loops and chains.

And the Mario Bros's nair is like... The best anti combo tool in the game fox really really REALLY relies on his combos. He can also struggle against Jigglypuff and Kirby for the same reasons. They are small and floaty. They can be almost impossible for fox to combo.

Falcon vs Fox is definitely in Falcon's favor. Fox definitely has faster attacks, but Falcon has a range advantage, and although Fox can combo him for days, he relies very heavily on killing off the top, which makes finishing off Falcon very difficult outside of a Shine spike, which itself is pretty hard.
Fox is also combo fodder despite his low weight, which poses big problems when the big man possesses powerful finishers such as the Knee and Raptor Boost. Falcon can also momentum cancel with aerial Falcon Kick, which can throw off some Fox's combos as well as give Falcon a get out of jail free card. Fox also has almost no offstage game whereas Falcon has high-reach aerials which can kill Fox without much of a problem - even the weak knee can gimp him.
Fox wins by shooting Falcon while waiting for an opportunity to capitalize on Falcon's laggy ground moves.

And while I'm here, most if not all of this applies to the Fox vs Ganondorf matchup as well. As you can imagine, the matchup is definitely more reasonable for Fox, but it's probably 50:50 at best for him. I say "at best" because if the Fox can't tech Flame Choke, that's a problem.
Ganon is heavier, which is good for very early Fox combos. However, Ganondorf is floatier, so those stop working at the mid percentages and Fox will then be forced to rely on hit-and-run tactics because overcommitment means a boot - or worse, an elbow - to the face, especially since Ganon will have rage almost every stock vs Fox. Don't screw around offstage either, don't even edgeguard him; Dark Dive's grabbox combined with his aerials make it a huge gamble. Also beware of the aerial Wizard's Foot.
Other than that, use your speed to piss Ganon off then promptly punish. Oh, and practice teching Flame Chokes. Otherwise if you get Choked, Ganon gets a free D-tilt, which kills Fox from the base of FD starting at 100% and true combos into other moves earlier on, or F-tilt, which kills Fox at 80% at the edge of FD, or 105% from the center. (Factoring in DI, but not Rage, meaning this can kill much earlier depending on circumstances)

Luigi NAir comes out on frame 3 and does 12%, it's crazy. It's probably getting nerfed in next week's patch

the other problem with the fox vs Ganon MU is that Ganon only struggles against those he cannot approach... Fox HAS to approach him. But I wouldn't call the MU 50/50 Fox's speed can give Ganon a load of problems.

wow, this exists. fuckin neato.

i have been learning ike recently. I like how ridiculously strong he is, but im not very good yet. i think my most satisfying kills have been with his bair. the hitbox is really tiny, so i never expect to hit it, but when it does hit its nice.

ive also been trying to learn robin, but, christ. theres a whole lot more technical skill in robin than there is in any other character i like. god bless

Watched your video, Ryan, and it is all mostly true. When I play competitive I always play the MU, not the tier. I always keep in mind who my characters lose to, and what characters are less "risky" to play. Sometimes you lose not just because of the match up. But because of a playstyle.

Character-wise, these are the things I keep in mind. (And this is based on my personal experiences, not the actual MU themselves)

Mac: Loses to Mario, Rosalina, ROB, DDD, and Villager. (Sometimes Jigglypuff)

Fox: loses to Luigi, Mario, DDD, Jigglypuff, Kirby, and Falcon. (sometimes Falco)

I can deal with Mario and sometimes Jigglypuff using Yoshi.

Falcon and DDD stuggle against Robin, Mega Man, and Samus.

If Falcon, Mario, or Ganon are giving me trouble for some reason, Ryu wrecks them.

If I need to be heavier, I go Ike, Charizard, or Bowser. But all in all that is mostly my mindset.

Mac loses to a lot more people than just that. Pretty much anyone who has a safe aerial approach tool. Fox loses to anyone who's fast and can kill early, which is why Falcon is a good MU against him. He does pretty well against both heavyweights and those who can get launched off the top easily. Or if you're really good/ballsy, you can try shining those with crap recoveries. Did it to a Ness the other day and made it back. DDD struggles against anyone with fast projectiles or high priority aerials. They beat Gordos and can get in on him.

I have a very similar mindset, but I try not to let the matchup advantage or disadvantage get to my head. It's about what I can do, to think of a plan of attack and go from there. The ratios, as helpful as they can be, are just what they are. They're numbers.

Just because the Ryu-Bowser matchup is 70:30 Ryu, doesn't mean that Bowser can't win this. The point is to understand and adapt . Ryu spamming Hadokens? Block, or even hit them, then go nuts when he's bored of it. he's tryin to bait you into a bad situation with Focus Attack? Know the Focus Attack and acknowledge the threat of it, either spotdodge or just stay away and in range to flamebreathe him out of it. Is Ryu F-smashing? Bowser has tons of ways around this laggy move of Ryu's, including his own potent F-Smash. It's about feeling out your opponent and thinking of your plan of attack. Of course, there is a knowledge aspect to this, which in this case is acknowledging Ryu's combo starters (he will probably use SH NAir).

I will probably amend this tomorrow when I'm less tired

I repeat, that isn't the actual MU. That is my mindset, sure Mac "loses" to shiek, but he is my preferred character to fight her with. Same goes for most of the roster.

I'm kind of late if posting this old sm4sh news, but how do you guys think about Smooth Lander and Heavy Gravity?

It's like Melee...

As much as I like this though, I doubt most people will see it the same way. I also wouldn't expect this to reach the competitive community, for obvious reasons. Regardless, it looks cool and I'll definitely try it out, though I doubt it'll be my main form of play, even though I love Melee as much as I do. I always tend to play the game in a way that would allow me to be competent in tournament, and unless this somehow becomes mainstream by some strange twist of fate, I'll resign myself to playing the game in normal mode.

Also, I'm sure there are plenty of broken combos with those settings, as the developers obviously didn't use them for testing or balancing.
