FraRPetO
Because King K. Rool's boss theme song is awesome. And Donkey Kong Country represents DK imo.
Shanco
King K Rool is probably tied with Kefka, Giygas and M.Bison for most notorious Super Nintendo villain (in Japan this includes Medeus as well). Unlike Bowser and Ganondorf he has a trait that other Nintendo villains often don't have: relative goofiness. He'd definitely be a welcome addition, but he's kinda overshadowed in popularity by hero characters atm.
Godot
Back in the ancient times that historians refer to as the 90s. There was a console called the Super Nintendo, or the Snes. And on the Snes there was this cool hip game series everyone (and I mean everyone) was into called Donkey Kong Country. The kids said it was "De Shiznit." That was THE GAME for a lot of people. Sure Mario and Zelda existed, but let's be honest with ourselves, Donkey Kong Country > Super Mario World. Also Link to the Past was for nerds. I really do mean it when I say everyone played Donkey Kong Country 1-3. Hardcore gamers, Casuals, housewives who get bored when their family was busy at school or work. Everyone remembered the game and everyone who remembers a good game remembers a good set of Villians. And boy were the Kremlings memorable. And continued to have popularity in the Nintendo 64 days with the decent but not Banjo and Kazooie good Donkey Kong 64. Things were going so swell... Until the Xbox Nation attacked. In the early millemia, (2000s) the next generation of consoles started and Microsoft wanted in, so they designed a new console to compete with Sony and Nintendo called the Xbox. The console was a powerhouse with one exception, they had only one game on it that you couldn't play anywhere else! (Until it got ported to PC where everyone could play it.). So one dark cold evening, Bill Gates and his crew of keyboard Ninjas broke into Nintendo headquarters and kidnapped the Donkey Kong Country developer's dignity, and forced it to make what we called Kinect Crap. Since the company behind the games that stars DK and the Kremlings was gone, Nintendo never used the Villians again to "try bringing something new and original to the table". Unfortionately that made K. Rool and his minions a relic of the times. Fun Fact. Lots of people wanted Ganondorf to be scrapped from the game and replaced by Ghirahim. We all call those kids losers who don't play good games. The real culprit to blame for that was Nintendo. Because Ganondorf hasn't tormented hyrule since the mid 2000s, since Nintendo wanted to try some "new fresh Villians" for the Zelda series. King K. Rool is also #1 in all of the Reddit, Smashboards, Gamefaqs, IGN, and most youtuber "who did you vote for in the smash ballot" polls. Followed by Banjo and Kazooie, Shovel Knight, Inkling, Shantae, and the character I voted for, Isaac. Edit: K. Rool also is a heavyweight Villian who uses an arsenal of dirty tricks to fight. He has been a Pirate, a King, a Boxer, a Blackbelt, and a Mad Scientist (despite being stupid.). He is also known for one of the first real video game fake outs. In the first game Donkey Kong country you KO him and the Credits start to roll... When you think you won and put your controller down, he gets back up and starts fighting way more aggressively than before destroying the credits and causing you to fight him one last time. Then DK steps on his face so hard it fucks up his eye for ever and ever.
Maelstrom
All the [redacted namecalling] fanboys in Japan who were angry that they made Ike PoR Ike with a body build that makes sense were happy that they didn't change Cloud for smash. Godot
Mael and I saw those, when I saw the Yoshi's one I lost my shit. It said "who I mained" and it had a picture of Yoshi. "What I expected" and there was a picture of a baby Yoshi looking cute and pathetic. Last caption being "what I got" and there was a picture of one of the scenes in Jurassic Park 2 where the T-Rex is in the city breaking shit and wrecking havoc. so i went to a tournament today and placed 9th out of 24(I THINK)... i don't have the bracket atm, so no real proof, i'll probs edit it in whenever i get it edit 9th/24, was orange hoodie kid because jokes, ended up placing lower then someone i knocked into losers lol http://challonge.com/snag22s4s I am a bit annoyed cause I went to a tournament yesterday at an anime con I went to. I could have gotten first, but I placed second. That Roy player was really annoying to play against. The tournament was also kinda odd since they were using traditional fighting game rules. Aka "if you win you get locked into a character." And that was off to me since part of my gameplan is to constantly mix it up and switch. Characters to throw my opponent off and confuse them. One game I got locked into Samus, which was awk because it was best 3/5 for semi finals. He tried to counter pick me hard. But despite that, I still 3-0'd him. In the finals I was locked into Charizard... Which was both awkward and somehow working. I made that Roy player rage hard and that within itself was a reward. It was like best 2 3/5 and I switched after I 3-0'd him and even three stocked him one match. He then managed to beat my Samus, Mac, and Robin. :/Prior to the con there was a small somewhat casual event where I awkwardly got sucked into a 3v3 tournament. I had one game where I was Robin and got 7 kills. (And none of them were allies). Felt good. . (Our team got second there too.) I also proved how shitty I am at mortal Kombat. I can do combos with scorpion that knock off 25% or more... But that is all I know how to do. >>
Shanco
mfw you 3-0'd as Samus in semis. What kind of a tourney is that? : P Also 3v3 matches are so fun. If only there was a way to play them online with friends. It's a mode with a ton of potential but the lack of 5+ players in online kinda gates that... Godot
To be honest l, I was shocked he made it to semi. There was a guy who entered that used to be a rival of mine back in the Brawl days.

Guzam
mfw you 3-0'd as Samus in semis. What kind of a tourney is that? : P Samus isn't actually half bad now that I'm used to playing her. Best thing to do is read your opponent like a book and catch them slipping and punish hard with either a down-throw combo or a charged shot. If you can read easily and know what and when to do things, the charge shot is easily your most powerful tool. Not to mention op B-air, good dash attack and interesting tilts. Not to mention her recovery is spot on. Bombs into jump into grapple? Great. Bombs into Jump into Screw Attack? Great. Screw Attack is also pretty good. It deals nice damage and can kill early from the top. Samus really isn't as awful as she's made out to be, but she is still ok at best. SnowGlaceon
Alright, so this is sorta my cry for help. A few of you probably know that I'm a Robin main, since I've preached about him before. Captain hindsight speaking, it probably wasn't the best idea to jump into the smash universe for the first time ever with a character with a high learning curve. But I got semi decent at it and was able to hold my own against a friend who is at least top 200 nationally, (for like a minute) no joke. But the problem is, I just don't seem to be getting much better. Matches are getting harder, against people and CPUs and that bastard master edges. I'm getting my ass handed to me pretty often. I seem to be at a disadvantage against pretty much every character. So how do I get better, where do I start, what should I do? TLDR: Smash is hard. Robin is hard. I'm a lost newb. Another Felix
CPU cheats and doesn't adapt, so training with them is bad. Keep playing, and since I don't know Robin (Too slow, ironically since I main R.O.B.) watch some pros play to get an idea of what the character is capable of. Nairo is one of the best players in the world and I think he plays Robin periodically. To learn fundamentals, play a bit of Pit/Dark Pit. They're the most balanced characters in the game and do a good job of being very well rounded.
Maelstrom
I don't think pit/dark pit are balanced at all. Spam Robin's projectiles, especially arc fire, to zone and force them to enter your basic attack/grab range. Catch people off-guard with the the thunder ball that stops and shocks, and either levin sword them when they are launched by it or run in for a grab while they shield. People that like to spot dodge a lot will get wrecked by down smash.

Shanco
Samus is still considered to be one of the worst characters in the game alongside Zelda. Mewtwo, Palutena and Duck Hunt are also sometimes included in this conversation.

No overwhelming strengths or weaknesses, No bull when it comes to power/abilities. Good recovery? It's linear, easy to read, and a lot of characters have good recovery. Spamming Robin's projectiles is the worst possible idea. They run out of uses. My training and doubles partner is a Robin main, so from what I've seen, you need to pick and choose your moves carefully. Every attack matters. You need to read and punish at every opportunity. Mael was probably referring to the matchup vs Pit, which is absolute ass for Robin. Few chances to charge Arcthunder, can be easily reflected when it's used, hard to kill, and Pit just combos Robin super hard like almost everyone else in the game does to the poor tactician if they get in. On top of that, Pit can just sit in his Orbitars for half the match because of Robin's grab range. Said Orbitars also gimp Robin out of his up B via those funny little "windboxes". The only thing Robin really has on Pit is range on ground attacks because Levin Sword is a thing. EDIT: I completely forgot. As for what people are playing these days, a local monthly that had a huge attendance went down this past weekend. Here are the characters used by the top 16: 1. Mario 2. R.O.B. 3. Diddy Kong 4. Zero Suit Samus 5. Mario 5. Donkey Kong 7. Shulk 7. Fox / Lucas 9. Palutena 9. Captain Falcon 9. Dr. Mario 9. Ryu 13. Ganondorf 13. Yoshi 13. Pikachu? 13. Pikachu 1. Ally 2. Holy 3. Chrim Foish 4.
