Need a place to talk about the latest episode (SPOILER HEAVY)

Since nobody in RL plays this game, I am unable to express my feelings about events, so I'm going to rant and rave here  

 

I am legitimately devastated that Taka died. CRUSHED. Possibly the only death which would effect me more would be Cain. (When that nice lady in the desert asked if he was my boyfriend I sheepishly picked yes, partly for the lols, and partly because I was starting to ship protagonist with him) I'm so upset! Seriously reconsidering a restart so I can do the other route, although something tells me he's going to die either way...If he lives to the end of the game once its finished in the other route, I'm restarting and totally gonna headcanon that somehow protagonist and him end up together...

 

I am most displeased with Titania. I never liked her after she sliced and diced so many meteors to death. (I'm more of a pacifist myself and would highly prefer making every endeavor to take down an evil team with as little casualties as possible, as opposed to STAB STAB STAB  ) and now she's killed my beloved. Cranky!

 

As for Amaria? YOUR GYM SUCKS AND SO DO YOU. What did I ever do to you that you try to DROWN me?    (I actually liked the gym puzzle in theory, just in practice the lights gave me a headache   ) Seriously though, if anyone needs any kind of therapy, it's you, you maniacal little mermaid...Go see someone for your issues before you kill someone please!

 

I'm so excited for the next episode, whenever it comes out! I'm just freaking out because my desktop PC imploded and I didn't have my most recent save file backed up so I may need to redo the last gym or two. I hope I don't have to relieve Taka's death all over again though!

Trying to predict what's gonna happen with Taka in the route where he doesn't die in the desert is tricky for sure.
I think so far the most popular theory is that he is going to die in both routes, and that the difference will be that in the desert route he gets to die free and finally able to be himself for just a little bit while he's with you, whereas if he survives, he'll continue to be with Meteor and ultimately die as "one of them", never able to break free from the life he's bee forced to live.

I guess it makes sense and it's a fair assumption, but personally I've kept my main save file on the route where he survives for now.

I actually am curious to see his possible interactions with other Meteor members still, and I'm not ruling out the possibility that if he dies regardless, it may still be in a situation where he's helping the player out.

It seems very likely that the desert route ends up being the "better" ending for him, but I'm not yet convinced that whatever the other route holds won't also be interesting.

 

But on a less plot related note.. yeah, sad to see Taka go :c The set-up was pretty harsh, letting you explore the desert with him and getting to see him happier than ever before, and suddenly he's gone.

 

That said, I don't see Tania as the one to blame for this. Ultimately it was all Lin. Tania's attitude certainly doesn't help to endear her to everyone, especially when she's involved in a popular character's death, but at the end of the day, she didn't mean to hurt Taka - she meant to hurt Lin. And Lin seems to have a habit of setting up people to hurt each other. She showed that throughout the entire previous episode already, and what happened in the desert is just a continuation of that.

I feel like blaming Tania for what happened is about as fair as, say, blaming Victoria and Arclight for fighting you in E16. ...Less so, actually, because at least the latter two knew what was going on and who they were faced with.

Oh, I'm definitely highly biased against Tania because I dislike any character so dismissive of taking lives. I recognise that she really did THINK it was Lin  I think if she had been even just a little more remorseful...  

 

So now I just need to force myself to pick up one of old save files I backed up which unfortunately puts me just before Titania's castle, so yay for watching him die again *cries*

This is just yet another thing that makes me despise Lin. I remember playing thru and seeing Titania kill Lin and I was like “yesss finally” and then the real Lin shows up and is like “sike” and Taka is actually the one who died. That was pretty much uninstall territory.

I mean, Lin actually dying right there and then would've made things too easy on us, wouldn't it? ;D Would've been mighty early for the "big bad" to bite the grass, so it was kinda predictable that something about it was too good to be true.

I agree;  I don't think, story wise, it was the right time for Lin to be taken out (yet...)

I too ship Taka with my character, but I don't blame Titania too much. Shit happens when reality is so fucked that she somehow builds some fantasy castle, she's just willing to cut through the people actively trying to destroy everything. Also it was a neat battle, had to bring a ditto with a seed to counter her Aegislash.

 

Also the only therapists in reborn are a guy who's obsessed with electroshocks, and a back alley pokemon psychologist, so Amaria's not gonna have much luck seeking help.
