"Well, they got the best of us, Hati." Working out the kinks in his hand from holding the tome for so long, the scholar steps out of the underbrush as the blue-haired laguz approaches. "It was all numbers, though," he says with a cheery grin. "In terms of skill, I coulda taken them with one hand tied behind my back."

 

Hati looks amused, and scoffs slightly. "Okay, then why don't you babysit them and see if they actually go through with this."

 

"Ah—?"

 

"Ahaha!! That's what you get." Emerging from the brush as well, the spearman laughs at the scholar's expense, stretching her shoulder with one arm.

 

"I think it's a great idea. Get him out of our fur for a while."

 

The scholar looks at the two with exaggerated despair. "Girls... is this some kind of love triangle spat? You're breaking my heart..."

 

Ignoring the scene, Hati looks at the group. "Hmph. Looks like you're at least passable." She jerks her head at the young man playfully bantering with the other two. "He'll go with you. Just to make sure you follow your end of the deal. Rip Oppenheimer's flesh from his bones, and we'll all be better off for it. And don't forget the second part of our deal. Greyson."

 

"Greyson...?" Johanna furrows her brow, glancing at Naomi as though to say 'what kind of deal did you agree to?', but doesn't say anything, just shaking her head. "We can't be responsible for his safety. This is a mission. If something happens to him—"

 

"Pft. He can handle himself. If he dies, it's his fault—"

 

"—Hati!—"

 

"—And anyway." Smirking, she casts an eye over at Argos and Kerr, who are picking themselves off the ground, "it looks like you've already gotten a taste of how good he is."

 

Johanna exhales. This mission isn't some game to be taken lightly, and certainly not to have a roguish laguz tagging along on; one that'll be non-combative for them, no less. But they don't have time to waste standing around chatting. "He can do as he likes. We make no promises."

 

No sooner does she say that then do the voices from around the corner grow louder.

 

"Intruders!"
 

"What the hell were the mutts in the courtyard doing? How did these people get this far? Attack!"

A blast of dark magic comes flying down the hallway, staggering Dulcibella, who manages to get off a shot in return.

Ceridwen let out a sigh — that had been a frustrating experience overall, but at least she had finally got him. ...and apparently he was coming with them now. Great. Ceridwen let out a second sigh. At least her frayed nerves seemed to have calmed down. Still, they were far from done yet, and now it was back to fully lethal combat.

“Well... there’s that. But, um, I’m gonna go help Dulcie!”

Shaking his head, Argos tried to regain his bearings after Verden had healed him. His vision was still a bit blurry and he hasn't fully caught up with what happened in the battle recently.  "T-thanks Verden, I should be good from here!" His sight first locked on Rhian and he noticed that she was slightly wounded luckily he had just the cure! He rushed through the trees,

 

"Rhian, you seem to slightly injured however do I have the thing to help!" He pulls out a vulnerary vial and tries to take some of it out for her. However, the only thing that escaped was a dust bunny. The lad let out an awkward chuckle before searching frantically all throughout his pockets.

 

"C-come on I should have some to spare some where on me!"

Kris sighs as she sees the others move further away and quickly moves after them the fast see she could though stopped briefly near Hati "I told you your cutie didn't want to hurt us." She said to Hati smiling before moving on.

"I'm fine. Look after yourself," Rhian said gruffly. She still felt like this was all starting to get absurd; who were these animal people, and why was one of them following the group around now? She almost said something about the quantity of dirt Argos seemed to be eating lately, but she wasn't out to crush the kid again. The shouting from ahead was worth more of her attention, though; after batting Argos's hands away, she moved up and aimed a shot at yet another spell slinger.

"And you are...?" Fallon asked with his eye narrowing when the scholar fell in behind them. To tell the truth, he had no idea what the intentions were for having this guy follow, but another hand was another hand. As long as he didn't get himself killed.

 

Without waiting for an answer he moved forward and let out another blast of energy at the oncoming foes.
