Meruem
I generally have a dislike for anime which primarily use the women for objectification or shallowness in the first place Actually, they even tried to make her some sort of strong (who appears to be not-so-strong at some points) independent woman who hates all men surrounding her, due to a conflict she had in the past. I liked what they did with her in the anime (never finished the actual story, 'cause I don't read manga <<), but clips like that one were kind of unnecessary. The rape-attempt scenes, however, were absolutely needed, since they're used to prove a point afterwards or give her some character development. The Fush
Of course we have. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!! At least I have... But more importantly, this! This here is what you call anime! I remember this being a kickstarter project; my opinion remains the same now, as in, nothing caught my eye out about it. It may be due to it's kickstarter nature, but there's a lot of generic sound effects and animation flaws I heard that didn't really help to improve the action they've shown us, and the technology used doesn't look like anything outstanding. Small errors aside, the animation did look very nice, though.

The trailer was made before the funding from kickstarter came in, so they had to work with their own personal budget, thus it might not be the best or in fact the way the final product will look, and anyways, anything that looks like GITS is awesome. Chevaleresse
I couldn't get past episode 2 of SAO, which is lame because it seemed like a cool show. Sheep
The SAO part of SAO is something I really enjoyed. ALO belongs in the trash. GGO was fun but not as good as SAO. The stuff that's airing atm is in between GGO and ALO.
Deleted User
That's what I was getting at. The ALO stuff isn't entertaining because it's too cliche and corny. As well as the glaring fact that they aren't in any real danger. I stopped watching SAO2 as soon as they went back to ALO because hell to the no. Maelstrom
That's what I was getting at. The ALO stuff isn't entertaining because it's too cliche and corny. As well as the glaring fact that they aren't in any real danger. I stopped watching SAO2 as soon as they went back to ALO because hell to the no. The recent episodes revolve around the theme of going back into it being just a game for fun and not a life or death situation anymore. Ever watch Log Horizon? They aren't in any real danger either, because people respawn still, but that doesn't really take away from the story. But yeah, it's kinda meh, up until the end of the last episode where they set up for what I expect to be an exciting, large PvP battle. It probably would have helped if they had more defined parameters as far as moves, abilities, etc. They just leave most of that vague, and support spells and crap just kinda pop out of thin air when the story remembers that it's an rpg mmo and it would have that kinda shit in it. Which reminds me, I have a similar gripe in that regards to Harry Potter universe. It's hard to make a person seem clever or amazing when you have no idea what kind of constraints and limitations they're actually dealing with
Support Squad Felicity Posted November 26, 2014 Support Squad Share Posted November 26, 2014 Any manga recommendations? Thus far, all I've read for manga is Btooom, Parasite and Deadman wonderland (Which was AWESOME)
MotherGlitcher
.Hack/Sign looks at SAO series while slowing shaking its head and backing away before it gets contaminated. With regards to manga recommendations for elfy, I could point out Wolf Guy(completed), though that is some mature stuff right there, or Blood and Steel(on going), if a Chinese based anime with nice art gets you going, or City of Dead Sorcerer(on going), if a Korean based anime that is webtoony floats your boat, or Ubel Blatt(on going), if you want something that reminds you of Berserk, or The Ravages of Time(on going), if you want something of historical where the gap in known history is left to the creative mind of the creator and it's based on the Three Kingdoms with great art and it is lengthy, or Zetman(almost completed), if you want something that has been partially done in anime, or The Breaker: New Waves(on going), if you want something more popular that you might've read already, or... a number of other titles, but I don't know what you like, and I haven't read too much to give you ones that aren't somewhat popular at least. Rawr-Ma-Ama
Has anyone ever watched "Higurashi When They Cry". Shit´s messed up O__o ...and I really like it. If I didn´t know what I was getting into, I never would´ve guessed how fucked up this show is, especially because of the way everyone and everything looks. So nice ^-^ Anyone in here who knows any horror-anime? Doesn´t matter if just creepy and unsettling or just psycho and insane. I´m in the mood for that stuff :D
Meruem
Any manga recommendations? Thus far, all I've read for manga is Btooom, Parasite and Deadman wonderland (Which was AWESOME) Not a manga expert here at all, but I've been told the manga for Umineko no Naku Koro Ni is pretty damn good. I watched the anime adaptation, and... here's the nicest way I can put it: the opening was better than the anime itself. It focuses around a mystery and never solves it, which makes the whole story pointless. The manga, however, is complete, and since I'm too lazy and have no time to read manga in general and umineko is not getting continued at this point, I decided to look up the mystery myself and find out about the things that remained unexplained in the anime and, my god... that was truly amazing. Not only that, but the way you find out about it, the whole journey of reading it makes it seem like it would've amused me a lot. Also, try out To Aru Majutsu no Index, if you're more into action or sci-fi. That's the only manga I've ever read (or tried to, at least) and from the little I read, it was great. It's huge (about 20 volumes iirc) and there are a lot of characters, but if you have the time, I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot. Maelstrom
I always recommend Gantz. It has a lot of mature content with lots of gratuitous violence that is central to the plot. You thought watching watching roo or the old lady in the hunger games die was feelsy? Pfft. Wiki Gantz tells the story of Kei Kurono and his friend Masaru Kato who die in a train accident and become part of a semi-posthumous "game" in which they and several other recently deceased people are forced to hunt down and kill aliens armed with a handful of futuristic items, equipment, and weaponry. Both the manga and anime are noted for their heavy violence and sexual content.A pair of high school students, Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato, are hit by a subway train in an attempt to save the life of a drunk homeless man who had fallen onto the tracks. Following their deaths, Kurono and Kato find themselves transported to the interior of an unfurnished Tokyo apartment. The pair soon realize others are present and find that they are not able to leave the apartment. At one end of the room there is a large black sphere known as "Gantz". When the Gantz sphere opens, green text appears on its surface, informing those present that their "lives have ended and now belong to him". A picture and brief information is shown of some of the Gantz' targets; Gantz orders them to go and kill them. All but one target shown thus far have been aliens living on Earth, which take on a wide variety of forms. After a period of time which varies between missions, everyone except Gantz is transported to the location of the mission. Those sent cannot return from the mission until all enemies have been killed, or the time limit has run out. If they survive a successful mission, each individual is awarded points for the aliens they have killed. Once a participant has scored 100 points, a "100 point menu" will appear. The menu offers three options: Option 1: the participant can return to their normal life, never having to be summoned by Gantz again. As a price, their memories of Gantz and the missions will be erased. Option 2: the participant obtains a unique and extremely-powerful weapon. Option 3: the participant can revive someone who has died during a mission from Gantz' memory. After a mission has been completed, and points have been tallied up, the participants are then allowed to leave, and live their lives as they see fit until Gantz summons them back again for their next mission. Flux
^Sounds kind of like Psyren, which I would personally recommend as a manga. It's about people who find red phone cards labeled "Psyren," and when they use them at a phone booth, they are teleported away by an entity known as Nemesis Q. They find themselves in a post apocalyptic world, where the surviving people all have some kind of "psionic power." Those who found the phone cards find themselves developing these same powers, and their goal is to reach checkpoints in order to return to the real world until Nemesis Q calls upon them again. It sounds complicated, but I thought it was really interesting.
Support Squad Felicity Posted November 27, 2014 Support Squad Share Posted November 27, 2014 @MMM, saw the anime, was good, until they got to the weird glass/ice armada part. It was then that I noticed that there really didn't seem to be any character development. It was good, the premise was interesting and the first part of it was very good, but then I lost interest, it reminded me of the filler arcs in the big anime, just bored the hell outta me. Also, I wanna check out Gantz now.
