Support Squad Felicity Posted April 19, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted April 19, 2015 Idk, last Fate ep was, uh, pretty depressing. That said I really prefer how Berserker died in the original fate line. Is that the only time he ever actually speaks in the show? Still, the berserker with a heart of gold I like. The yellow eyes that you see when you know he is in control is awesome too. And dat final lunge

I'm in agreement with sheep here, but yeah even though I knew what was going to happen once i found out that they where doing Unlimited Blade Works I almost cried at that as well. At the premier the when that happen the room went completely quite.
Hiss13
Finally started the Spring Season after finishing Cinderella Girls yesterday. Series was a 9/10. Shimamu, Miku, Ranko, and Anya are precious. ' 1. Owari no Seraph-This one's off to a pretty good start. Not to mention, Shinoa is just too much fun. The soundtrack is solid (despite the Engrishy OP). Not much to say. Let's just hope this one keeps up the momentum. 2. Fate Stay/Night Unlimited Budget Works-The series returned with a freaking bang, man. I knew what would happen in episode 3 as soon as I started it but damn, that hit like a truck. You know a series is good when it can pull that kind of impact even when you are expecting it. Support Squad Felicity Posted April 20, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted April 20, 2015 So, I dismissed Yamada kun to 7 as P much just a full on Harem and skipped it and as far as I can tell that really is where it's going. However, unlike a fair few romance/Harems there is notably more of a male presence than just the MC. Plus the MC is clearly established as supposed to have a personality as opposed to normal pants characters. Plus it's kinda real in that, let's face it, if you swap bodies with someone of the opposite gender you'e gonna wonder wtf is happening with your body. In the end it's only two eps, not holding out too much hope, but so far it's a refreshing change of pace as far as that kind of show goes. As opposed to F**** piece of ******* B****** ****C ******Q**** Punchline. I just immediately didn't like that show, I'm not even keeping to my 3 ep rule with that. Also everything else is proceeding as gold P much everywhere else as far as I can see.
Void
yo peeps, I haven't watched any of the fate series yet and would like to start. what order would you guys recommend I watch this in?
Support Squad Felicity Posted April 20, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted April 20, 2015 Fate/Zero, then Fate/ Stay night the original, only if you wanna wait for Ultimate Blade-works to finish and then Ultimate Bladeworks. The Original Fate/Stay night series is kinda sub-par but knowing what happens in the original story is neat for when you watch Fate/Stay night UBW
Meruem
actually, i thought you were supposed to watch stay night first and then zero. people suggest that around the internet, because fate/zero spoils more about fate/stay night than the latter does about the former. the chronological order is zero and then stay night, however. Support Squad Felicity Posted April 20, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted April 20, 2015 Just do the VNs. It's fucking easier than alla this
Hiss13
If you do the VNs, just do Realta Nua unless you wish to read and have a laugh at the poorly written sex scenes. When you get to Fate/Zero, read the light novels first because despite how much I liked the Fate/Zero anime, the LNs are still better.

THOSE SCENES SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME, I WAS NOT EXPECTING THEM AT ALL. I felt like such a creeper even as I skipped past them, not knowing you can get a version without those scenes. I find it funny they have no voices too like even the Voice actors were like "NO"

Meruem
Oh it is on. Me, you, Rust, and a 1V1. Teach you to slag Clannad. btw i also started watching yamada-kun recently and i gotta say i didnt expect it to be this funny. comedy doesnt usually hit me, but this one is doing a pretty decent job, surprisingly. also, it's an actual harem, for fucking once, and not one of those disguised-as-harem shows that just rely on having a bunch of chicks around a dude. in case someone doesnt know, an harem is when the protagonist is surrounded by at least three characters (of the opposite gender) who have romantic interest in them. this doesnt mean there cant be other characters of the same gender as the protagonist (i.e. toranosuke) play an important role in the story. rustytengo
I do now know that Type-moon was notorious for sexually-explicit VNs. Makes me laugh how they came out with Fate tbh. The original Fate wasn't meant to be an Eroga the original concept of it is well this it was changed to a 18+ Vn because at the time they where more profitable but since Fate prints money Type-Moon kind of doesn't worry about that anymore. Type-MOON do a lot of shit right but their sex scenes are laughably horrible they're like the fuckin' birdemic of hentai scenes original VN, especially Realta Nua, is fantastic though, even though IMO fate route is far worse than the glory that is UBW and HF
Sheep
even though IMO fate route is far worse than the glory that is UBW and HF I think I'd have to disagree with you there. UBW was great up until the point where Shirou got told a billion times that his ideals are wrong but never changed them. Pretty sure (though I might be wrong) that he even acknowledged that his ideals are wrong but 'cause he has nothing else to go to he stuck with them anyway 'cause he's a stubborn idiot. HF is just kind of creepy in general and a bit of a word fest. I am really appreciative of how much it explains though, and the fact that Shirou finally drops his dumbass ideals. By comparison in Fate even if Shirou doesn't drop his ideals, at least he gets Saber to realize that hers are dumb too. So Fate might even be my favorite one of the three. Not really sure, it's hard to argue with the amount of screen time Lancer gets in UBW compared to the other two. yo peeps, I haven't watched any of the fate series yet and would like to start. what order would you guys recommend I watch this in? I'm one of the people that will recommend watching Fate/Zero first. Fate/Zero spoils more stuff for Heaven's Feel than Unlimited Blade Works, and without Fate/Zero you won't have a clue who Saber is. The more I watch this UBW adaptation the more I realize it's adapted as a sequel to Fate/Zero as well.
chuckles
So...I think we need to talk about Kekkai Sensen. Some people are saying it's the best of the season, and others seem to think it's too chaotic. For now, at the very least, I'm intrigued and hungering for more. Of course, any anime based on a Yasuhiro Nightow manga is going to make me giddy. In case anybody doesn't know, that guy also created Trigun. Whether or not its the best on the series is difficult to answer. It seems to incorporate so many things that you can't really liken it to any one show. Still, its very well done so far and I kinda love the ending sequence. All the dancing just makes me smile. But, if they have take-aways to see another character i'm not too sure how well it'll do. It's like 13 eps right? If so, I see it being like Deadman wonderland for some reason and just not getting a season two or enough time to really do the show well. So Fate might even be my favorite one of the three. Not really sure, it's hard to argue with the amount of screen time Lancer gets in UBW compared to the other two. I have my own opinions regarding shirou's ideals in UBW but can't be asked to debate that so I'm just gonna provide my input on the fate route Only about 25% of the fate route actually contains anything I like about fate; the conflicts with Berserker, Emiya's confrontations with Kirei, TYPE-MOON setting up Kirei in a light that makes you underestimate him, Rin in general, and the battles with Rider were the only things I actually liked in the fate route. Everything else, to me, was horrible. To start with, Shirou's character is completely ripped apart and discarded, reducing his ideals to that one lone page in chivalry where girls are treated like shit (the amount of times I hear Shirou essentially stating "stay in the kitchen" in this route makes me cringe legitimately) and completely breaking any sort of like I felt for the romance between him and Saber; the only time Shirou's character felt legitimately portrayed to me was when Kirei made him undergo his "confession". Saber's background was done well here, but I feel as if the route didn't reflect her origins and motivations properly in the present tense of that route. Ilya's character is also horribly misportrayed, discarding her maturity, relationship with Berserker and experience as a homunculus of the Einzbern family and instead simply portraying her as psychopathic child murderer who gets forgiven with no explanation other than Shirou's already misportrayed ideals. Sakura's nowhere to be seen, and Fujimura didn't really have any involvement either. I feel like the only characters who weren't ruined in personality here were Rin, Kirei, Lancer, Shinji and Gilgamesh, and the last 2 are dicks anyway and Lancer barely had any screentime. The ruination of so many characters personalities in this route really dropped any attachment I had to what was going on unless Rin or Kirei was involved, especially since so much of the story is just Shirou being sexist as fuck to Saber without any legitimate backlash from Saber; Shirou's ideals aren't specifically based on the sex of the person he wants to save; him not wanting Saber to fight is legitimately fueled by his ideals, but using the excuse of Saber being a girl feels like TYPE-MOON's shallow blank check. Also, the first sex scene was one of the most garbage ones in the VN.
chuckles
Will Kekkai Sensen really only have a short season? The manga has been going for a few years, so they probably have enough material for at least a standard 24-26. Well, they could do what Tokyo Ghoul and UBW have done recently, and separate the episodes into two short seasons. Actually, a lot of anime series have done that recently, although I am not sure why they would. In fact, the second season of Durarara is separated into 3 12-episode cours. I suppose this is the norm, now.

Support Squad Felicity Posted April 25, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted April 25, 2015 Ok, I figured out why I don't know if I like Kekkai sensen and I wanna see if y'all agree, thus the double post (Mercy plz sheep) So, so far it's been as chaotic and mad as the entire concept suggests, i'm under no illusion that this is not all on purpose, the fast pacing, insane amounts of different... things and concepts. It's all there to reflect how fucking nuts and non-understandable the city really is. Thing is, you only get to see any character in little tiny snapshots with next to no important interaction for too long. Funnily enough, it suffers from a lack of exposition that other series could do without. In most other anime, you see enough of an MC or Side character and get to know at least a part of the world enough to where you develop a bond fairly early, right? Even in the early episodes you should be able to find a character to like. For example, Shinoa in Owari no Seraph. People like her even if they don't know too much about her through the interactions with the MC and co Well in Kekkai sensen you don't even get the chance to latch on to a character. They introduced the green eyed girl in the graveyard end of ep 2, I was expecting an explanation as to who she is or get to know her a bit. She didn't show up again properly until late ep 4. Wat. One of the biggest draws so far is the stupid huge cast but what's the point of a large cast if you only see each individual for 2 minutes?
