Truthseeker
Alright, so I've been doing a Shiny only run, which means my choices are pretty limited. I've been trying to avoid hunting for random encounters, only for gift Pokemon, and catching any randoms I find. I'm currently just about to get the Normal Badge, and I just wanted to see what people thought the best team I could have (given my options) would be.  The team I've been using: Spoiler  Lvl 53 Ability: Justified Holding: Protective Pads Moveset: Flamethrower, Fire Fang, Crunch, Heat Wave  Lvl 51 Ability: Sand Veil Holding: Quick Claw Moveset: Bulldoze, Earthquake, Stealth Rock, Rock Blast  Lvl 53 Ability: Pressure Holding: Pure Incense Moveset: Ominous Wind, Sucker Punch, Nasty Plot, Dark Pulse  Lvl 52 Ability: Rain Dish Holding: Sea Incense Moveset: Bite, Aqua Tail, Water Pulse, Tackle (Yeah, I know...)  Lvl 50 Ability: Aftermath Holding: Black Sludge Moveset: Toxic, Venom Drench, Sucker Punch, Night Slash  Lvl 51 Ability: Effect Spore Holding: Big Root Moveset: Petal Blizzard, Toxic, Stun Spore, Giga Drain  My other options are: (edited to add a couple newbies!) Spoiler Lvl 50 Ability: Levitate Holding: Odd Incense Moveset: Stone Edge, Psychic, Rock Slide, Cosmic Power  Lvl 48 Ability: Simple Holding: Moveset: Cut, Strength, Rock Smash, Rollout (HM Slave)  Lvl 44 Ability: Big Pecks Holding: Moveset: Air Slash, Roost, Rain Dance, Tailwind  Lvl 40 Ability: Infiltrator Holding: Moveset: Air Cutter, Bite, Agility, Tailwind  Lvl 40 Ability: Honey Gather Holding: Moveset: Draining Kiss, Sweet Scent, Bug Buzz, Dazzling Gleam   Lvl 38 Ability: Sand Rush Holding: Moveset: Swords Dance, Crush Claw, Dig, Gyro Ball  Lvl 36 Ability: Chlorophyll Holding: Moveset: Growth, Knock Off, Leaf Tornado, Acid  Lvl 36 Ability: Plus Holding: Moveset: Volt Switch, Rest, Snore, Charge Beam  Lvl 35 Ability: Flame Body Holding: Moveset: Ancient Power, Flame Burst, Rock Slide, Lava Plume  Lvl 32 Ability: Plus Holding: Moveset: Gear Grind, Bind, Charge Beam, Automatize  Lvl 22 Ability: Leaf Guard Holding: Moveset: Tackle, String Shot, Bug Bite, Razor Leaf   So, as a super casual player who is lucky to have gotten this far without giving up, does anyone have any ideas for substitutions that should be made? I know that I have two types twice, and that replacing Skuntank would make the most sense type wise, but her bulk has really pulled me through some tough periods. But I'm willing to take any suggestions into consideration! Lunatone is pretty much an honorary member on my team as well, just not as long term. Any help would be appreciated! Well, your options are extremely limited... I think the best thing you can do is: - arcanine - golem - klinklang - noivern - leavanny - skuntank  I know, not using your starter (for now) is sad, but that blastoise moveset makes me weep  Additionaly: golems and arcanines abilites should be changed to sturdy and intimidate respectively and golem should learn explosion over bulldoze/stealth rock. Truthseeker
Awesome! Thanks! (And yeah, I don't even know how that happened... Blastoise was kind of a background member anyway.) Also, yeah, I kinda suck with move sets. Only in the last couple years have I started having any stat moves, I tend to just go with the hardest hitting move, normally STAB. I had wanted Noivern and Klingklang on my team anyway (because I like Noivern and Steel would be a nice type to have)Â so good to see they'd make good additions. Thanks again, guess I got some training to do!

Sorry to ask, and I'm sure they aren't considerations, but I just found a Ribombee and a Dedenne. I'm 99.99% positive Dedenne is not good, but don't know if Ribombee is good for the Fairy typing... Kamu
If you don't care about Relationship Points then I'd recommend the Magcargo being sent in and using Lava Plume before you send in the RK9 because it'll set the field ablaze and give you an edge :]Â Â I think what LilyX recommended is great just replace Noivern with Magcargo for the field effect. Obviously this hurts everything but RK9 and might even one shot your Leavanny buuuut it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work out you can always soft-reset and then redo the fight with their entire recommendation. I've beaten the game with Typhlosion + Drought so maybe I'm overestimating the usefulness of the field change + a Fire-type.
Veterans andracass Posted October 6, 2018 Veterans Share Posted October 6, 2018 tackle!? so, given what you currently have on your team, i'd recommend swapping out either spiritomb, vileplume, or both. either klinklang (if you evolve klink) and leavanny (if you evolve swadloon) would make decent replacements. your team would lose ghost typing, but given that the only thing spiritomb has in that department is Ominous Wind you probably won't be missing out too much. i know klinklang is good from personal experience, and i think some people like leavanny, but i'd really recommend lilligant, too. sleep powder + quiver dance + energy ball will 6-0 a lot of leaders.  edit: ahh yikes i didn't know other people said things.

Ribombee has an amazing level-up movepool but is held back by its mediocre stats... but so are most of your pokemon to be honest So yes, you could consider adding ribombee over leavanny.   @Kamu I´m curious about how changing the field impacts relationship points. Do you have more information on that?
Kamu
Spoiler I think it's Laura? The one who arranges the flowers in circles of 8(?). If, during your battle with Noel, you set the field ablaze she loses a Relationship Point with you because of past trauma. I found it in the relationship variable thread that Icy has set up. @LilyXÂ Â
