Tanzan Mountain crystals?

I returned to Tanzan Mountain (specifically the area where you fight the giant Steelix) and passed the area where you need Rock Climb to access. From there you can access three rooms that have four green crystals that don't have any effect. The ground is unsteady and it gives way if you use two earthquakes, but beyond that I have no idea what the purpose of doing that is. Any ideas?

You have to rock climb down using another entrance located around the western part of the lake in Tanzan Cove. Here, there's an event that will eventually lead to a Pokemon. You have to find all the places that the ground is unsteady at first.
