But first off, what is Mafia? Reveal hidden contents Mafia is a social deduction game in which an uninformed majority (Town) must work together to kill all the bad guys (Mafia), which usually share a private chat, and therefore know each other. At the beginning of the game, all the players will receive a Private Message with information about their role. There are two factions (heh) in this game: the TOWN and the MAFIA. In order to win, the town must kill all the members of the mafia. The mafia wins when they have as many members as townies alive. During the day phase, lasting 48h in this game, everyone must discuss and cast a vote on this thread and, at the end of the day, the person with most votes will be Lynched (=killed). Then it comes the night phase, when y'all can perform your Night Actions. This is the time when Mafia also kills somebody. The night lasts 24h in this game. During this time, you must NOT post in this thread. The game continues until one of the factions attains their win condition. General Rules Reveal hidden contents The Reborn Forum Rules apply here. You cannot use any means of communication to talk about the game with the rest of players apart from this thread and the private chats provided by the Game Moderators. Sharing screenshots, etc. of your private chats or role PMs is not allowed either. You can transcript all you want, though. Each day, you MUST cast a vote on this thread and make at least TWO posts. Failing to do so will result in a warning. Receiving three warnings will result in substitution or modkill. The votes will follow this formula: [Eliminate] Player [Unvote] Player (MUST be cast in bold to be valid). Night Actions must be submitted to the personal Discord channel with the Game Moderators that you'll get once the game starts. Double posting is preferred upon editing. You may edit messages only if the changes are minor. Killed players may have a dead post that won't disclose any relevant information. What is this game about? What makes it special? Reveal hidden contents As y'all well know, evolution is the natural process by which organisms change through time. Doing so, they are able to become better adapted to their environment, overcome the calamities to come and even change the world as we know it. All the life forms are in a somewhat teetering equilibrium with their habitat and the other beings that live in it: the ecosystem. In this game, you will play as life forms evolving through time and competing for your place in nature. Each day, you may be asked a question with a multiple-choice answer. Depending on your choice, you will become one species or another. You may however not be asked a question at all, and still change or not. Anyway, you will always be notified of any change in your role. The evolution will happen at the very end of the night. Each species will feature a specific set of abilities, which may be used at night or during the day (depending on the nature of the action). Additionally, all of you share the ability to create 3 private chats with up to four more people. You may use this ability at any night phase during the game. You can only dissolve chats made by you. Also, be careful when randomly killing people... because messing up with the food chains may result in your dying of starvation! One last disclaimer: we have taken some 'licenses' in the evolutionary chain. We are aware that, first of all, evolution is neither linear nor determined. Also, that the evolutionary tree should not expand upwards like a tree but to be more like a bush. Finally, some (if not most) of the evolutionary leaps are not how they actually happened in the history of life, but the sequence is presented like that for simplicity. Tl;dr (and other vital info!) Reveal hidden contents Day=48 h (discuss in this thread, post at least twice and cast your vote), Night=24h (can't post here, send your Night Action, choose an answer to the evolution question). Since we'll have 'special' days in between, such as Christmas and New Year, some days may be a bit longer. Format of the votes [Eliminate] Player [Unvote] Player (MUST be in bold). You all have the ability to create 3 private chats with up to four other people (ask the GMs and we'll create them for you). They must be created during the night phase. You may create all three in the same night, or in different nights. Everybody in the chat will know who its creator is. Other kinds of chats (e.g., Mafia chat) will be automatically created as an inherent ability of their faction/role and won't count as one of the three. You can use those chats both during the night and during the day. The chats may only be dissolved by their creator (they don't regain the chance of making another chat). The chats will be automatically dissolved upon their creator's death. Town must kill all the members of the Mafia to win. Mafia must even the number of townies to win. The Mafia member who performs the factional kill cannot carry out their Night Action. Players holding a plant role cannot visit (they cannot move, poor things). Players holding a bacteria or animal role can choose, each night, among not visiting, visiting but not performing an action, or visiting performing an action. There might be some specific roles with exceptions to this rule. During the night, you may be asked a multiple-choice question (or not). Depending on what you choose, you will evolve, always at the end of the night, changing your role and abilities. This means that anybody (including Mafia) can get any role: it is therefore possible that some of you end up holding the same one (like there can be 7 doctors). Lynches will happen at the end of the day. On the following morning, you will receive a list with the names of all the roles that people may hold on that same day. You will also receive the news on the events of that night. Upon death, both the Role and the Alignment of the dead player will be revealed. The items in this game are: Gun (you can shot a person during the day), Vest (you are protected against a gunshot), Mysterious Potion (can either be a Life Potion or a Death Potion): Life Potion (you gain an extra life), Death Potion (you die regardless of your protection). Your interactions with the other roles may change some of the things said above. Once you sign in, you will receive a link to access the Discord server. There, we will ask you to choose a number among 1, 2, 3 or 4. This will determine the role with which you'll start this game. We would like to have 20 players. We are well aware that it's a difficult goal given that this club just revived so, if we don't get enough people to play, we'll make the changes needed to re-balance the game. Although you were 19 cells in a same pond, you were quite the varied bunch. Reveal hidden contents ROLES FOR NIGHT 0, DAY 1 AND NIGHT 1: Pathogenic Bacteria Extremophile Archaea Plant Cell Animal Cell However, something was off this morning. In a corner of the pond you saw floating bits of a cellulosic cell wall and, as you went closer to investigate, you discovered that andracass' organelles were scattered all over the place, and her nucleus was ripped open by some kind of toxin. Seconds later, you also found a lysosome full of deadly enzymes which was ready for action, so you could deduce she was part of the mafia. All this turmoil had initially prevented you from noticing another pondmate who was acting odd... Lord Drakyle was encysted and did not look threatening at all, but he had been silent for too long. When you approached him, you discovered than he had been opened a massive hole and his nucleoid had been taken off. Lord Drakyle was also found dead, and all evidence made it clear he was town. andracass was killed! She was a Plant Cell aligned with the Mafia! Lord Drakyle was killed! He was a Pathogenic Bacteria aligned with the Town! You now have 60 hours to discuss here (this day will be excepcionally longer because of Christmas). Since it is the first day, you may abstain from voting if you wish. Anyway, the most voted person will be lynched at the end of the day. Expand So i confirmed with Alaris, that under normal conditions plant Cells (Cass) can't confirm a factional mafia kill. So there are more questions that would pop out: Was Cass role somehow modified, to perform a night action even though she was a plant cell? So if that was the case: Was Drakyles role like that of the Granny, but how did he still die? Did Draklye visit Nano and die in the process? Was it a random action of the Vigilante (if there is one of course) Are there more Mafia Factions than one? (cause no third party, so there could be a chance) Is there a hidden gimmick in Alaris game, like there always has to be someone to die, to be food for the others?
