Administrators Amethyst Posted June 5, 2010 Administrators Share Posted June 5, 2010 I wasn't -planning- on making a dream-sharing thread, but as one of the members of this site was in mine last night, I may as well, eh?
So as you might know, I just got back from a week long trip across various parts of the country. Apparently the feeling hasn't left yet, because last night I had a dream that my family went to go visit Lara's. Unfortunately, they chose the -worst- place to stay. We all met at a hotel made of stone and grey painful plaster, where they had rocking chairs instead of beds, and like two small blankets for the eight or so people there. The only heater was a giant metal block in the middle of the room that blew cold air and it would hurt if you tried to lean on it. The only way there was to walk down train tracks- there were two train tracks, probably about forty yards long running parallel to each other, with a cobble stone surface directly beneath them- but a giant chasm surrounding them. It turned into a highway somehow. Anyway. Now I was excited to meet Lara, but for whatever reason she was being extremely moody at me, and refused to even speak to me. So, I got bored and found the TV room. Other people were watching a program that was like, "What not to eat" and it would list several combinations of food, and say it was gross. Naturally, the hotel had all the right ingredients, and we sampled them as they were listed, agreeing with reach one. I remember it told men to dip Apple Chunks and Celery in Sweet and Sour Sauce and following that up with a Rotten Raspberry. Blech. After that I got tired of it and saw what else I could find. Lara's little brother (?) was playing Pokemon, and he actually -wasn't- giving me the cold shoulder, so I started talking to him instead. He was a little annoying, in the way that younger boys always are, but not too bad. Anyway, we started talking about the games, and wandered into the hotel's backyard. Effectively, it was just a bigger version of my house's back yard, but that's alright, because my place has a pretty big, and pretty alright yard anyway. ANYWAY, it was night, and most everything was pitch black. We could barely see anything, and as we were walking down the hill, I tripped over a rope. It wasn't a long rope, but it was tying something to something else. I followed it, it was only a few feet long, and it was attaching to our barn shed what appeared to be a push lawn-mower/vaccuum hybrid device. We examined it for a moment and turned it on. A great teal-cyan light welled up inside it, lighting up the area around the device with some sort of magical energy. Not really knowing what else to do, I guess we plugged the machine in. ....to Lara's little brother. He lit up like a lightbulb with magical energy, said he felt great, and even gained magic powers for a brief moment. Not wanting to waste the oppourtunity, we charged it up again, and I tried. The feeling was ecstatacy. We kept increasing the power level, and decided it would be rude to exclude Lara. So, her little brother ran in to get her, but at the same time, she appeared, outside already. She said she had come outside because it was midnight, and the fireflies were supposed to change color then. We looked up at the perfect black sky anticipatingly.... And it happened all at once, like a firework, sparks of green light erupted out from the center of the sky, only to turn red, and whiz back to where they came from, leaving a soft golden light floating around. Then a second one, behind us, and a third, in the trees, and not a moment later, the green and red lights were dancing everywhere we looked. The whole outdoors was captured in a warm golden glow, with the fire flies buzzing around the trees, and coming down to dance with us. still more fireworks left off though, and the entire yard became a symphony of color, the fireflies our orchestra. I began to tell Lara about the machine we had discovered, but just before she could try it, she decided she needed something inside. I waited a little bit, taking in the beauty of the scene, and started to write a poem about it in my head. Better yet, I decided, I would tell it to someone. So I whipped out my phone and started texting Alice a description of the machine and the fireflies and how wonderful everything was-- She and I have a history of trading dreams. I didn't that it has it had gotten so bad as to tell her about my dream while I was still in it though... So at this point I decided I should probably put the phone away, wake up, put the phone I had in my -real- hands away, and rethink my life. And I did.
Lara
That's pretty awesome that I was in your dream, Cy. Even if I was acting like a jerk for some reason. XD My dream last night involved me going on some sort of trip (either with friends, or as a school trip) to this huge library. I bypassed the first two levels of the library, I guess because I had been there before and knew that what I wanted was on the third floor. As I climbed up the third flight of stairs, they became more elaborate and ornate, and I soon found myself peeking over the edge of the wall hugging the stairs. My eyes scanned over rows of books that were set up in fancy designs, and as I continued to look around I found myself looking out at a large cathedral. I was inside it - the library was connected to it, I suppose - but I didn't know if I was supposed to be there, so I kept my head ducked and continued looking around. I was situated above most of the people who were currently in the area, and across from me in a level even higher than mine was a group of nuns who were part of some sort of choir. I do believe they were the nuns from Sister Act (a movie). I continued to keep my head ducked as I listened to them practice, in love with their singing, but they soon stopped. Then, in the open area below me, other groups got up to sing. It was some sort of talent show or something, but it only consisted of groups of singers. As I watched the first group perform, one of the nuns walked past me and scowled a little, but just said "You can come in, you know. It's not against the rules, so get up." Sheepishly, I stood up and entered the cathedral itself, looking around at all the ornate decorations and listening to the groups singing while watching the crowds of people. At one point, I walked over to a table where they were trying to sell things related to the show - I was trying to find an album that the nuns had made, because I would have bought that, but I couldn't find any so I ended up walking away. Around then was when I woke up and lost my grasp of the dream.
Lara
So, I'm honestly in a state of shock right now. I went to bed no later than 2 a.m., and here I am, literally just waking up at 4 p.m. the next day. Seriously, there wasn't even an instant where I started to wake up; I had been steadily dreaming the entire time. And the weird thing about the dream was that it was one whole dream, not even broken up, and when I did change location I actually went through the motions of changing location. Everything had a reason. I managed to type up what I remember, since it started to slip away when I finally did wake up, but I have the first half of it. The second half, where things had started to get a bit less realistic (though still connected, I remember that...) is fuzzy to the point of no return, so I won't even bother. Oh, and right now I'm too lazy to make it grammatically correct, because I typed it up quickly so as to not forget it in the process of typing. (Maybe I'll get irritated at it later and fix it then. =p )
it started in my high school gym, we were all on bleachers listening to our principal. groups of students were approaching him about problems in the school and he was shooting down every single one, in turn, claiming that they weren't actually an issue. i was getting really mad about it, to the point where i was told to go stand off to the side of the room, and after he was done and everyone else was leaving he made me come with him to where other teachers were hanging out. then i was made to write down everything the teachers told me to, and after a long while my dad showed up to let me know he was taking the car i had driven in (because i'm an alumni of the school in my dream, as i am IRL). i was like "but uh, how am i supposed to get home?" and he's just like "you'll think of something" and left. so i kept writing, i looked at the clock at one point and i think it said it was after 9 when they finally let me up. (right before i finished, one of the teachers randomly gave me chocolate covered pretzels as a 'thank you' or something). rather than letting me go home, though, the teachers made me come back into the gym with them, where they were playing baseball. i was finally about to just leave when a whole bunch of other alumni had shown up and were heading into the gym to practice for the same softball game. when that finally ended, i followed the alumni out and got on a bus that was still there for some reason. the bus dropped me off at this random house and it turned out to be one of the alumni's houses where all the others had come to party. i walked in and stood around awkwardly for a bit (the main event was a skydiving thing [thank you pics my friend put up on facebook...] and they were in the process of strapping in another kid to go) but then saw one of my friends walking into the backyard. I had started to follow, but stopped when i saw said friend appear underneath the deck in front of me so instead i started talking to her.
Maelstrom
Necromancy strikes again. I had a strange dream that had a surreal tropical jungle environment where if you jumped into what looked like puddles that dotted the forest, you'd find yourself in a drowned, submerged city with entire skyscrapers below the surface. I wondered what supported the ground and trees at the surface. It started off as military style movement and recon, and ended as a one on one Mortal Kombat battle with myself as Sub Zero and a no-name participant.
I was part of a small team. We moved stealthily through the tropical forest surface and the strange, sunken underwater city literally just below the trees. We were searching this strange land for two things. The militants, along with their leader hiding out in the living maze of water and plants, and the evidence of their crimes against the other local populations. We hadn’t encountered the men yet, but in the underwater rooms and buildings, we were finding the bloated bodies of evidence hidden in nearly every dark corner. These people had suffered much under the group’s tyranny before they were killed. We expertly gathered it all and brought our findings back in. One young man, a local who had operated with us, had known one of the cadavers we’d found. It was his mother. I witnessed as he told his father the news. The young boy’s entire body stance screamed rage. His father gladly gave his son the permission he was seeking. With pride and love in his voice he handed the boy a knife and said, “Go. I don’t want to see you again until you have killed him. If I never see you again, then I will be comforted knowing that you gave your all.” The boy’s face shone as he accepted the knife. He smartly about-faced and left his father’s office. He would now focus his life on killing the family member who had joined the militants and had betrayed his beloved mother to them and consigned her to her death. The news of our findings had attracted a lot of attention, however. And for every person there seemed to be a different proposed solution. So it was agreed that action would be decided by a tournament. Two loosely associated factions emerged: those who would destroy and those who would win to stop them. It would be Mortal Kombat. [lol, I know, but that’s how the dream went!] I’d glanced at the ladder for the tournament but that was it. I didn’t care who all was fighting and it was useless to speculate on future matches until the other matches were settled. But I was curious to see who I would have to defeat first. And so it was that I approached the arena for my first match. I was suited up and confident, with a knife in my pocket. I am Sub Zero. Oddly enough we were in a theater and I would have to fight between two rows of seats. Room enough only to advance and retreat in this fight. [in hindsight, this is in keeping with the original 2D fighter, XD] I look up and see my opponent. She was dressed like Kitana, but in shades of pink instead of blue/purple to contrast with her brown skin. She isn’t Mileena, but unnamed fighter. Yet, I still know her. I trained with her and we’d practically grown up together. My frame shook as tears rolled unchecked, but I made no sound. The men circling the combat zone, waiting to watch the fight laughed at me, but I didn’t care. They didn’t matter. I didn’t want to fight her. I didn’t want to hurt her, or kill her if I had to. But fight her I must. I would destroy this tiny realm. Or so people had surmised. So seemingly, I was allied with the likes of Shao Khan and Baraka- the faction of destroyers. I didn’t have the time to correct them, to go into the details of my plan. They’d see the difference after I’d won command. These men laughing at my tears didn’t matter. They probably thought I was afraid. I’d seen what the militants had done. I would see them all destroyed. My own hands would see to it. I supposed it might destroy this whole tiny realm in the process. But I would still cry for my friend. She was crouched in a ready stance, knife in hand and unhesitant. Determination and focus kept her face and body rigid in her pose. I doubt she knew she was fighting me. I would not use my powers against her, but I brought my own knife out to bear in my right hand, blade like a fang pointed to the earth. I hated knife fights. I did far better fist to fist (or rather, fist to face). She attacked first, slashing at my midsection but I dodged, stepping back. I was on the defensive. She was relentless, thrusting and slashing quickly as I dodged or blocked. But soon she was bleeding down her right side from her own slashes that I’d blocked and nudged closer to her own body while out and away from mine. Such slashes far outnumbered ones from my own counter attacks. As she paused in her flurries to breathe, I hoped she would weaken from the blood loss but she was not bleeding much from the shallow cuts and her stance was still strong and unflinching. I’d had to move very quickly to avoid being gutted several times. Even so, as I took the moment to assess myself I felt the strange sensation of two lines across my abs. I couldn’t tell if I’d been cut very shallowly or if it was the cool air showing me where the tip of her blade had only rent my clothes. I couldn’t afford to be seriously wounded here. So as I turned my focus back to her, I tensed by body and clenched my fists to strike back seriously. Then I woke up.
Maelstrom
I had a dream the other night that Ame and I were at the beach. He was on a raft and I was swimming next to it but we were only 10 ft off shore but the water was already 10 ft deep and clear with no waves. Ame watched as I tugged on the tail of a small shark that was passing by, which reacted by jerking its tail and swimming away faster. Ame said he wanted to do that the last time he was here with a friend but didn't because he wasn't sure how it would react (I think he thought it would turn quickly and try to bite its tail free). I just laughed and told him that I pulled a shark's tail like that the last time I was here and it did the same thing. Then I remembered I was afraid of sharks and that while I was at the surface talking to Ame I couldn't watch if anymore sharks were approaching. So we agreed it was good idea for us to go back to shore. @_@
Administrators Amethyst Posted March 12, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted March 12, 2012 ..I am 100% a fan of beach hang-outtery, but I can honestly say I've never had the desire to tug a shark's tail..
SevenDeadlySins
Forget tugging its tail, I want to ride a shark. Maybe wrestle with it. That would be fun.
Administrators Amethyst Posted March 12, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted March 12, 2012 ...Wrestle... *thinking of Sharpedo's Rough Skin ability... which surely is based off of some real trait of sharks* I don't want to... I don't want to wrestle with a shark...
Maelstrom
Dreamed of having some epic adventure, but it was at the end of the journey and i don't remember much about what we had actually done. But it was one of those happy ending things where my companions and I returned to the lives we'd set aside for a while, which was enriched by our friendship and all the things we had learned while struggling to make it through. I mostly remember the fancy, expensive restaurant one man had left in his sister's charge but he came back just in time to keep it from overwhelming her and falling apart. Plus, I got to eat a special meal there, on the house. Warm, fuzzy feeling, gogogo.
