Guest Relinquished
Your thoughts, on that character? He had great, although Utopian ideals... Impossible to realize, at that. He was relentless, almost merciless, in the pursuit of his goals... He had great talent, plus absolute lack of hesitation... He slowly reduced to nothing, all opposition... Reaching the end. Beautiful artifact for the taking. Someone to wait for him back home, should he act as initially intended/planned. Instead, right there, before the very realization of his goals, he realizes that the artifact was evil, the "light" emanating from it corrupted, it was a "dubious" item (as Archer/Gilgamesh proclaimed)... And goes after "victory", but in another sense... By breaking the circumstances of the story. Abolishing his status as a master, commanding his servant to smash the holy item, resulting into crushing both Fuyuki City, as well as the hopes of the people waiting for him... Although, someone would argue that said people were actually "hommunculi", without feelings, or even "inhuman", at that. He actually "won", by choosing to not only "lose" in a sense, but actually, destroy everything himself. The sad truth is, that the only way for him to "win", actually, was this specific course of action, that specific decision. After which, he was devastated and actually declined (psychologically mostly, probably), until he died shortly after, full of grief, regrets and "ghosts" of the past haunting and hounding him... How would you describe him? In a hypothetical situation that you were in his place, would you do the same thing? Yes or no and why? Do you believe this was the only way to reach real "victory", in those circumstances?
