Chevaleresse
Scarlet shrugged and slid the folder into her bag. The research here was probably worth something, and better it be her that got ahold of it than the pirate or the "goddess." It seemed the group had moved in behind her, after all. "So you also voluntarily worked without any leisure time? Hell of a job," she commented dryly, starting to move forward before pausing for a moment. "Hey, kid. Akihiro? Those papers have anything to do with the ones in here?" She gestured to her bag as she spoke. It was part curiosity, part a test; if he did what he said he could do, he could read them right there. Yours Truly
Hirata seemed to perk right up as she pulled the coat out of the drawer, letting out a slight squee before she tried to put it on and said, "I found a good coat! Or at least I think its good, I wonder if they all dress like this? What did you guys find? Anything good?," she then wandered off to get closer to Scarlet and the rest of the group. StormLord
Vepr-12 finds the large machine in the corner. It's got a glass upper portion and metal lower portion, almost like some kind of high tech claw game. There are eight cylinders each about six inches across inside the upper portion, six of which seem empty and two have curious glowing orbs bouncing up and down. They're terribly mesmerizing and Veper-12 finds she almost loses herself just staring at them for a few seconds. There is a small panel just below the bottom of the glass portion of the machine, on it four buttons. Two are clearly linked and probably rotate the cylinders, the other two are unmarked. Currently an empty cylinder is up front. [100] "Kupo Kupo Kupo Kupo Kupo Kupo Kupo Kupo" Yup, it's written in Mooglish. One of the hardest languages for outsiders to learn without being in constant contact with Moogles. Something Zoe learned just to piss them off. The book itself is a guide detailing theory around middle level elemental magic and effects. Once per plot per user the book grants a +5 bonus to learning/improving a trick based on one of the following elements: Fire, Ice, Thunder, Wind, The Stars, The Planets, or Time. It's a door, reinforce with metal. lots of metal. There is a small pad next the handle where a lock should be that has a small display, a series of numbers, a red "X", and a green ">". IntSys
Vepr-12 put her face up close to the "display box", while her hands slid down the squeaky-clean glass pane and rested upon the buttons. The glowing orbs' oscillating motion was as mesmerizing as the flashing LED lights on claw machines, grabbing hold of her attention. Luckily for her, this machine didn't seem to be asking for an arcade credit. She gave the buttons a look. Two of the buttons were clearly for clockwise and counterclockwise rotation, but the other two were a bit more mysterious. One of the two unmarked ones would have to be some sort of an unload button, but what could the other one be? Disposal? She tapped the rotating buttons once each, making sure that they worked. And then, she gave the two other buttons a go.
Yours Truly
Seeing as there was basically nothing else of immediate interest to her in this room, Hirata naturally wandered off to head through the doors heading to the lab, intending to loot it for understandable schematics and papers explaining what this asteroid facility was studying now that she made certain that no gunshots were being fired yet inside of it. "Hhi, did you guys find anything useful here? All we got were some useless books and papers that we couldn't understand."
DragonRage
"I understand this one!" Zoe exclaims, brandishing her new spellbook, "But I can see why nobody else could. Who the heck puts basic magic primers in Mooglish of all things? Nobody important speaks Mooglish as a first language. Or a second language. Actually, you only really learn Mooglish to cheese off the Moogles. They hate it when you do that. But unless you're a wizard and also fluent in Mooglish, this thing is pretty useless to you." Endlessblaze
Stella looks over the parts. A quick check of the AI core reveals the obvious. Its not that great. Simple. Stiff. Inflexible. The substances show some signs of degrading in a way she doesn't immediately recognize, and are bizarrely uniform but its not a big deal. Her machine extends two of its arms, each one opening up the end into a sort of claw revealing equipment and lasers of varying kinds, as the cylinders, longer then should fit into the frame, rise further out of the surface of the disc. She rips open the core with her bare hands and a pop of purple, glittering magic, before handing it to the machine, which starts scanning the thing and rapidly riping out its circuits as another arm extends and shoves scrap steel into the central cylinder. Beginning to break it down under the pressure of advanced technology, infused and modified with the powers of a goddess. Ohhhhhh. Thats the reason it looked so funny. They must not have figured out how to create real matter, so they made the closest thing they could. Spoiler Stripping down the steel alloy into its component parts reveals a lot about its construction she couldn't tell before. First of all she pulls out carbon, manganese, nickle, and several other mundane alloyants along with some iron particles irradiated in a way she's never seen before. Judging by the fact that they're almost exclusively on the surface the change is probably from a treatment or environmental exposure. Secondly she finds that this isn't real matter so to speak, its more """matter""". It has been digitally fabricated using raw energy and some amount of "seed" material to create functional analogies to actual matter that only differ in stability. If cut from a steady power source capable of restoring degraded material for long enough the matter will decay into lost energy. Once the drone is done with breaking the alloy down, she has it deposit the Materials and goes to gather some of the shattered glass Without a word needing to be spoken the drone sweeps up the glass into its claws, and as she returns to the table, scoops up the iron, and gold. The four arms reach around in front of her and reach for each other as they start blasting out lasers and magic and shaping the materials. Once they are done they return to rest and Stella catches the object her drone has made, turning it over in her hands. A single, smooth, hollow orb of glass. The inside was etched with wide gold circuit like designs, comprised mostly of lines and rings running all over the inner surface. Interrupted by a few scattered iron lines. The glass itself was tinted by the remaining iron, though it was still clear enough to see inside Stella lets go of the orb and it floats in place as she moves her open hands away from it.... And then starts assblasting it with magic. Bolts of purple, and streams of silver light crash into it and infuse into it. Light rushes through the circuits as they seem to vanish and the glass changes color to a muted purple and imperceptible to human eyes, has its molecular structure altered. Stardust begins to fill the orb and swirl as little lights being to wink into existence. When the blast of magic die down, what Stella is holding looks nothing short of a miniature galaxy, wrapped up in a little ball. She idly gives it a couple of light tosses an inch or two into the air before storing it and her leftover bits in her drone. Should do fine for harnessing and storing her power, or drawing energy from any local stardust formations they might run into. Never know when you might need to shove a power core into something after all. Spoiler Gain x1 Digi-Iron (Which is then used), x1 Small pile of digi-alloyants, x1 Tiny pile of irradiated digi-iron. Stripping the AI core reveals more of the same. Gain x1 Digi-gold (Which is then used), AI core lost. The Stardust Core turns out pretty good, even with a segment of its power rerouted to preventing its own decay it manages to produce slightly above average amounts of energy. Chevaleresse
"Doesn't seem to be much of interest over here. I'm headed over to the other side, see if the others have managed to kill themselves yet." She didn't wait for the others to back her up; normally she liked the buddy system, but she wasn't quite sure she trusted anyone here with that sort of thing anyway. The robot was an unknown factor, the kid didn't seem like he'd be that helpful, same story with the chick in the blanket, and Jack was just a little too fond of shooting things and had some odd ideas about lethal vs nonlethal combat. Strangely enough, that left Zoe as the only one she'd really want to work with, so far. This time, she couldn't stop herself from groaning, and letting out a string of profanity under her breath that sounded like a mixture of at least three different languages. Going out of the airlock was slow. She still didn't quite trust the kit, or the gravity of the station, and if either one of them failed, she wasn't exactly keen on the end result. Progression across the way, similarly, was a slow affair, but she did eventually make it through the void and into the laboratory. The sight of machinery, damaged machinery, and several someones interacting with said machinery that clearly didn't understand it greeted her. She sighed again, rolling her eyes and moving toward the first problem they can solve. "Easy there, Captain Morgan, you're gonna lock us out of the system." She pushed herself past him - at least, to the extent she could, given the size disparity - and keyed in 0457 on the pad.

Chevaleresse
Scarlet just sort of looked at the man for a moment. Different universes, she supposed, but that didn't necessarily mean the man wasn't screwing with her. She eventually elected to take the comment at face value. "It's a brand of alcohol." She briefly considered further explaining the insult, but figured it wasn't going to get her a whole lot of entertainment either way. "Don't know very many pirates any more. StormLord
Vepr-12 tests the first two buttons and they seem to function just as she figured. The first of the other buttons causes a small hole to open on the bottom of the inside of the machine. The front most(and empty) cylinder slides down, the machine makes some odd sounds, and a hatch opens out the front. Nothing comes out. The second bottom actually seems to do the opposite. A small hatch opens in the front, closes, and the the cylinder slides back into the machine full of nothing. None of Jack's code manage to garner more than a flash of red on the display. Scarlet's code however brings a flash of green, a short click sound and the release of the door handle. Upon opening the door Scarlet finds another lab inside similar to the one everyone is already in, only completely ransacked. Piles of broken glassware on the floor, mixing solutions in puddles, smashed and unseated machines, a flipped table. A couple of the puddles look almost like thick tar with glowing yellow disks floating on the surface.
IntSys
"Oh. Withdrawal and Deposit," Vepr-12 muttered to herself. Having figured out how the machine worked, she decided to operate it so that she could get all the orbs out, by rotating the pillars holding the orbs to the front one by one and opening the hatch over and over. StormLord
[96] Vepr-12 rotates the first full cylinder to the front and presses the button to withdrawal the orb. After spending a second or two in the workings of the machine the orb pops out of the hatch. Instead of bouncing randomly or floating still though, it moved upwards drifting around Vepr-12's movements with a will of its own. It reaches eye-level with her and just sort of sits there for a moment occasionally twitching or pulsing. Without warning in a sudden burst of speed it flies into Vepr-12's chest, disappearing and causing a feint glow where it impacted. Vepr-12 now has a warm fuzzy feeling. The other orb is still bouncing without any pause or concern.
IntSys
Vepr-12 instinctively reached for the spot where the orb had entered through, only to feel a warmth that didn't feel like her own. She couldn't figure out what had happened, only that it didn't seem to have caused any damage. Was it alive? What would happen if another got into her? Then again, they all looked alike. If the last orb didn't hurt her, would another be any different? And so, she operated the machine again, withdrawing the other orb.
Powder Miner
"Nice," said Jack immediately to himself when he followed the others into the ransacked lab. "Boy, somebody really did a number on this place. Kinda weird this place is fucked and not everywhere else, huh? Maybe that's what security doors will do for you, huh?" Without hesitation, Jack then waltzed right on up to one of the puddles of the tar-like substance, eyed the disk floating on top of it, then crouched down, and poked the disk with one finger. StormLord
[83] Vepr-12 presses the series of buttons again and out comes the second orb of light, only this time instead of raising to eye level it quickly sort of...breaks apart and shifts into a pale pinkish/red heart that drifts upwards like a balloon and eventually disappears. The first Jack walked into the room, squats down, and pokes at the odd floating disk. It seems to sort of...blink out of existence, which is odd because he's fairly sure the puddle isn't actually deep enough for it to sink and be completely covered. Eventually it does reappear though. The other Jack quickly follows suit and gets about the same result. [43] Zoe's investigation seems to go only slightly better as she comes across some complicated lab notes stained with an unknown substance. Suddenly a hideous man-hand reaches out of the black sludge and wraps around Jack's leg. With it a small humanoid pulls itself out of the sludge with bright yellow disk-like eyes and another after it, and a couple after that. They're each solid black and look almost like they're made from the sludge, they appear muscular, short(easily three foot or less when hunched), and lack any real features beyond eyes and two long angular antenna protruding from the backs of their heads. Around that time in the other room one of the tables rumbles before practically exploding off the wall, luckily it fails to hit anyone, but now standing where is was is an odd vaguely humanoid creature. It's a littler taller than average, it seems to be wearing something akin to an armored coat, and it's holding a large metal slab as a shield. Two points of light appear at roughly head height with it and two mor creatures pop into existence. Both roughly bell shaped with a black sphere holding yellow eyes in the middle of a split of two segments where the bell would begin flaring out. One is a dark red with a silver "hat" and the other is a dark blue with a golden "hat". IntSys
Vepr-12 frowned slightly at the second orb's performance and turned away from the machine, simply disappointed. Almost immediately, she saw a table blasting off before her eyes and crashing into a wall. "Ambush!" She shouted, but instead of backing away, she cocked her shotgun and took one step forward toward the newly-arrived Taskmaster and its pet bells, as if she were ambushing them instead of the other way around. "Deploying Anti-Collapse Forcefield." She muttered into her comm link out of habit, but of course she was the only one in there. She took a guess and assumed that the bells would attack from afar given their flaring bodies. The Forcefield was for Collapse particles, but it might work for energy attacks in general. Onto business. She began her routine by pumping slugs into the bells mercilessly. Chevaleresse
Scarlet shook her head at the man's reaction. He'd learn, or he'd die. Maybe it was hypocritical of her, but things would have been much better if she'd been tossed out an airlock a century ago, and she wasn't the greatest believer in the good nature of people. Of course, the appearance of the creatures didn't give her a whole lot of time to ponder what to do about Jack - there was a rather less controversial target in front of her. Not quite the creepiest thing she'd seen, but she still wasn't fond of the horror movie act, and demonstrated her displeasure through the traditional method of directed energy weaponry.
