Reborn now has a youtube account. League battles and announcements will go there. (Yes I have Ame's permission). The site is http://www.youtube.com/PokePlaceReborn

What exactly are you going to upload to the account anyway?

Most of the people here don't battle on their DS with the actual games (surprisingly) and I don't know how fun it would be to watch a recorded PO battle. I'm with Kaze, not trying to be mean just asking...why?

Meh, the text is pretty blurry, which makes it hard to figure out what a lot of the people are saying. Also, the waiting between moves is rather annoying. Maybe it's because I didn't see the point of this in the first place, but doesn't seem so good. On an unrelated note, why does Luna have a Murkrow? o.o

As some of you may or may not know, Kajj handed over the reigns of the youtube channel to me because...well, I don't really know. I did not think there was any way that this was going to work since at the time I could not think of a way to record league battles. Then common knowledge kicked in and I realized there is image capturing software for recording what is on your desktop. Looked into that and found a free one and tried recording some test battles. Needless to say, it looked like shit. I continued working on it though and found a way to improve the video quality to the point where now it looks really crisp and clean. Still working on audio though as I am currently unable to record audio from my computer while recording, like having the battle music recorded with the video. Might be able to work around it or fix it, maybe not. Currently I am recording narration with a mic with music playing in the background but I would prefer to have the audio recorded straight from my computer like its supposed to. Because of this I'm still struggling to find a balance between the music and my narration so the music can't be heard, I'm drowned out by the music and anything in between. Also trying to make my narration sound interesting and entertaining while also not making an eighteen minute video. I'm shooting for about twelve minutes max for battles.

This is where I would wish to extend my hand to anyone who would like to jump on board with this. As I said I feel I've gotten a great quality on the battle videos themselves and just need to work on audio. If anyone would be interested in narrating battles and doing their own commentary, I would be more than glad to hand over the blank videos for you to add audio to. This would give me some motivation to stay diligent recording the battles until or if I can start finishing them myself. Right now I still haven't made an acceptable video from last week in my eyes. In addition, if anyone would like to suggest other methods for me to do the recordings or work with me on my current problem that is appreciated. After all, I'm working with free programs and opensource so not like I'm working with professional equipment. I might upload a battle video with just music playing so people can see the visual quality that I have to offer.

My goal is to have an experience similar to the other Pokemon battles on youtube. I follow several individuals on the battle scene and its the people and their commentary that make the videos interesting. Having just the battle is boring, and so can having just music. The human part of explaining what is going on, giving personal thoughts and making jokes is what makes the videos interesting. Similar goal would be to perhaps conduct interviews with the members of Reborn and quite possibly the Gym Leaders themselves. Easiest way, though untested, would be to use something like tinychat. This does NOT mean you have to show your face as doing just audio is possible and we would simply put up an image to represent you, like with callers on news programs. I probably will do this, but maybe I'll eventually show my pretty face. Maybe. Gym Leaders would probably be done in a purely text format though as to protect their real world identities. All of this is because I like both the technical and human aspect of this site and the battles. There is a lot of strategy and thought put into battles, but this doesn't mean there can't be some fun to it, too.

Pokemon Channels I Follow
Pokemon Mosh Pit - A new community channel. You'll find the best of the best here.
MTGXerxes - The first guy I ever started watching and who quite possibly was the one who got me interested in competitive battling.
Nbz - Pronounced "N-be-Zed" because he's a British bloke, second guy I started watching and who revealed to me the pure awesomeness that is Shuckle.
Frostypixie - A good example of the fun side of battling, she's always in high spirits and proves girls can fight [Pokemon], too! I also had the pleasure of fighting her in a tournament once, which scared the HELL out of me.
The Flaming Spade - One of two guys that struck me as exemplary of the battle scene when I started to look into it more. He's the one I got my Snorlax set from.
KingDaddyDMAC - The other of the two guys. Subdued and possibly the logical and standard of all these battles, but to me stands out as possibly the most well rounded in content.

Those are the only ones I can reliably do since the league happens at a specific time on specific days. Tournaments are also doable because of the same reasons so the next time we have a tournament I might record those. Only hitch with that is that multiple battles can be going on at once, including my own if I'm in the tournament. If I'm on and there's some epic showdown between say AME vs. BULLET then sure, I'll try and record it. League battles will just be the most reliable and constant of any battles.

Hey, weather effects just means I have more time to gather my thoughts. The battles I have recorded either have long idle periods where nothing happens, normal pace of battle, or where moves are made immediately with barely any time to read what just happened. The worst is when that last pace of battle happens in triple battles. Right now, my policy is "Fuck Narrating Triple Battles."
