PokefanPT
Hi everyone! I just finished Where Love Lies, with the true ending, and I must say, what an incredible game! I wasn't expecting that this version would have so much content, and such a beautiful story. First things first, I feel like this game made me finally have some kind of connection with Kenneth (or Keta), and I'm sad now to think about how he is already dead at the point of the game I'm at. I feel like when that arc happened in Pokémon Rejuvenation, his death didn't hit me like now, due to this game. But, to be honest, that part of the game was so long ago, so much as happened since then, that I really don't remember much of that arc of the plot. I think I'm not the only one that feels so bad for Kenneth too, because he was such a nice guy, he just wanted the best for other people, but due to the red-haired girl, his life was ruined, and he became "broken" in the end. This is one of the problems I have with the game. I found really odd how, in the true ending, the red-haired girl begins to say how she choose him randomly, and she didn't have anything against him, her real motive was related to Taelia, then to manipulate him to kill himself, just because her job was done (?). Like, I really don't get it. I understand the 2 situations separated, but not together, with the same character (I hope I made myself clear). Also, why did she took so long to try to kill him (she made him feel guilty of Taelia and Nora's death, but she didn't do anything else in over one decade)? I also don't understand why she didn't care about him, because he was just a test subject, why she wanted him to die so badly. It's because of her that his life becames even worse, when he finally gets in good relationship with his brother, but then he just dies. In the end she kind of just gives up that idea, but it's interesting to think about it. It also makes me a bit unconfartable to think that in another timeline, Taelia killed Kenneth at such a young age. That scene from chapter 2 really made me question some things in their relationship. That blind girl was also a bit cruel if you ask me, because she knew what Kenneth was going through, but when he started to hallucinate, and tried to kill her (when, in reality, he really didn't want to), she just made him fell to his death, WHICH MADE HIS LIFE EVEN WORSE. I really feel for Kenneth, he went through so much, just to be seen has the "Sensei who didn't care about others", when he really cared, and because of that his life on earth became hell. I also find it a bit mean when that blind girl never helps him after that, she knew that sepating his soul with his body was a bad idea, but never tried to help him after that. But well, in the end, I think this game really had a great story, and the true ending made me tear up (and I never thought a Pokémon Game would do that to me). I'm glad I played this game, atleast for the experience, but the information given to us in this game is also very important for the "normal" game. I must say that before playing this game, I didn't cara that much about Kenneth and Aelita, but now I'm so invested in their story, and Keta might be one of my favourite characters in the game. I think it's also fair to say, that I really disliked how Kenneth could never restore his relationship with Tesla. It's really a shame After this game, I felt like the creators were really cruel with Kenneth, he didn't deserve it =/ (well, don't take this to seriously, I don't mean that they're cruel, I'm just expressing how I feel about Kenneth's story and has a character). Btw, I didn't think that Mewtwo was that helpful in the game, he can only be used in the last battle of the game, and Kenneth's brother is a Dark Type used, so... Yeah, Mewtwo just did nothing in my playthrough. What are your opinions on this? I would really like to read them! And thank you for reading this GIANT post!
Tikkit
I honestly have never played WLL. Kenneth just didn't hook my interest as a character enough to draw me in, and his death always sorta felt more like character development for Madelis and Aelita. It shows that Madelis isn't some random Xen Admin that has no relevance outside of doing stuff for team Xen, and that she was willing to help complete strangers. (Which is just the way I saw things during that death scene, since I don't know about how things actually went down.) Most importantly, this event serves as a catalyst for Aelita's growth as a character. I'd go into depth about that, but I'm not sure how far you've gotten in the main game, and I don't want to spoil things.

Think about it as (however repellent it may be) as mind-altering manipulator. You have a puppet who unlocked as intended (note that she still needed someone with enough "purity of heart") a tremendous artifact/place of power (whatever it actually does, which afaik is still mostly unknown). So his role is complete -- but pure-hearted people are dangerous. They tend to be whole and uncompromising, with a strong moral sense, or whatever, so Kenneth is really now only a liability. What does a manipulative chessmistress (?) devoid of morals do with liabilities? She disposes of them. But she can't get her hands dirty -- she has rivals, enemies, and so on, who would be ready to catch her in the act and frame/kill her. So the easiest way to do it, of course, is to alter his mind significantly to kill himself. So you make him haunted. You go subtly enough after the rest of his family, giving, eg, his jerkish brother a seriously dangerous component -- Rift Matter -- again, whatever it is. Once the brother gets killed -- if the Rift doesn't rid you of them both by some sort of accident, you can arrange another one, or simply nudge Deagan to dislike Kenneth even more -- you got a new weapon to haunt your target with. Make him depressed, make him weak, make him haunted, break his ties with life, and sooner or later he'll get an accident or take his own life. Also, note that she's a time-traveller, so she probably has a different view of people's lifetimes. Waiting a decade isn't that much to her, she can fast-forward or skip it entirely. 16 hours ago, PokefanPT said: That blind girl was also a bit cruel if you ask me, because she knew what Kenneth was going through, but when he started to hallucinate, and tried to kill her (when, in reality, he really didn't want to), she just made him fell to his death, WHICH MADE HIS LIFE EVEN WORSE. You can't expect a weird sage hidden deep in a mountain with unearthly powers to have a fully human attitude. They'll usually have their own morality, their own pride, and so on. But I'm not sure she had the power to halt him nonviolently when Kenneth started attacking her in his madness. She also couldn't foresee that Team Xen would get involved (I think at that point they're a minor force).

I still haven't completed the last 2 chapters, so I'm really glad you were considerate! My experience was like yours, before playing this game I really didn't care about Keta, but after this game it has changed! You should play it, there's a lot of lore (I think, I don't know if the main game explains some of the things), and you'll find Aelita's character more interesting too! Also, you'll understand why she went on an adventure in the end of chapter 12 better! 38 minutes ago, Mindlack said: Think about it as (however repellent it may be) as mind-altering manipulator. She also couldn't foresee that Team Xen would get involved (I think at that point they're a minor force). Well, I understand what you're saying, and thank you for replying me! However, I still think that she didn't have that many reasons to kill Kenneth. Yes, pure hearted people could be dangerous for her, but she also said that she needed one for later, so I'm not sure if she would mind that. Also, wouldn't it be better if Kenneth could be in a good mental state, because that way he could protect Aelita from further damage, and we know that she needed Aelita, so I feel like killing him was not even good for her. But yes, in a certain way, he could be dangerous for her objective. About the blind girl, yes, you are probably right, but I can't just let that slide xD. She may not be so "good" after all, for all we know, she may have some plans, and that's why she was helping Kenneth. She said she couldn't do anything about Taelia's death, but is that true? We know that she can communicate with people while beeing in the vilage, so, couldn't she just warn Kenneth or the Eldest? I find it odd. Also, her Cellebi can move freely. And I also didn't find killing Kenneth a thing that a "good" sage would do, so yeah, she has her motives too. Don't trust that girl xD! (I don't know if she appears latter on in the main games, but if so, I would put an eye on her).
