EV Training

I'd personally like to know just how much work is involved in that kind of stuff and just what kind of payoff comes of it.

Never bothered with that stuff since I first heard about it way back in Gen-II. It seems doubly irrelevant since there is no competitive play for this game so is largely wasted.

With a pickup team and cheat engine, it doesn't take too long at 5x speed. I buy 10 vitamins of the stat i wana raise first with all my pick up pokedollars then just grind unkowns for 152 SpA or Atk then buy 16 berries to lower the other stat that gets raised by 152 then buy another 10 vitamins and grind Azurine island for HP, Mt Pyrous for Def and the spot just before the underground railnet for Speed from lvl 3 zubats/swoobats. Cbf doing SpDef though takes too long.

The gym leaders are your competition. This game is pretty freaking hard if you don't know what you're doing. That's why EV training is so important. Or at least, I assume it will be important at the later stages.

I honestly hope that is not the case. EV training, to me saps the fun away from the game. I enjoy Reborn because of its interesting story; if EV training and the like were to become a requirement to progress I could honestly see myself not playing the game any longer.

By "later" I meant post-endgame, where the opponents are freaking hardcore. You'd have to use pseudo-legendaries as a minimum requirement, and they'd all have to be very high level. EV training would be so you could take on the strongest enemies for 100% completion, and would likely have no real impact on the story itself.

Honestly, I'm with Khayoz on this one. ..Not as intensely of course.

I end up grinding my Pokemon a little in between gyms anyway, so I might as well put in a little more effort to finding out which Pokemon would give me better stats to be more prepared to handle later gyms matches that are even harder. No one's saying you need to mindlessly grind until you have all your 510 EVs accounted for immediately [except Khayoz I guess] and gradually making your Pokemon more powerful and better suited to whatever roles you're having them do in your respective teams will definitely improve your experience playing the game.
